    Not funny.

    Next?

  2. BOOOOOOOO!! Dead baby not funny! You suck, PK!

    • I counter that dead baby jokes can be hilarious just not this one…

    • katestella says:

Here in the UK we have a satirical paper (Private Eye) that made a cartoon making fun of Gordon Brown who went on a tv show and “cried” when the interviewer brought up the subject of the child he and his wife had that died soon after birth. In the next issue there were a load of critical letters saying – “that was not funny – just no” etc from long term readers. This paper has a long history of making fun that is close to the bone but it seems that this subject was too much even for these readers. And me as it happens.

      • I would agree that’s definitely crossing the line. Also, as much as I love Family Guy, I really hate how often they cross that line as well. I guess in the long run it all evens out since I’m sure I’ve laughed at plenty of jokes that many others would find offensive, but I don’t tolerate dead baby jokes, and if that makes me a hypocrite, then I’m a hypocrite. Oh well. LOL

        • I Like Peanut Butter says:

However dead Republican jokes are all the rage… ;-)

I don’t like dead baby jokes either, hell I had a orugh time watching Aliens Vs Predator Requiem during a view bad for baby scenes.

          • Ya, Lynn is very touchy about those scenes so I can’t watch that around her. I also can’t watch Devil’s Advocate for the same reason.

            • *writes these movies down* Anything else? Any other movies to avoid? Hell, we even avoided “Up” for the scene in the beginning where apparently they lose a baby.

              • mothergoose says:

What was the movie with the line “That Dingo’s got your baby”???? You may want to avoid that one, too…

                • mothergoose says:

*A Cry in The Dark* 1988, Meryl Streep*
                  *Thanks Google!!*

                  Quigley Down Under

                  • Justacarolinian says:

Nope. But most people think it is. It’s in (as noted above) “A Cry In The Dark” and an episode of “Fraiser” where Daphney imitates the scene from the movie.
(Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite movies. My wife looks a lot like Laura San Giacomo, depending on the picture)

                • dissimilitude says:

What was the movie with the line “That Dingo’s got your baby”????

And let’s not forget that “Dingoes Ate My Baby” was the name of Oz’s band on “Buffy”, too.

                  • froofrou says:

That’s made of so much awesome…….

Also, don’t forget the scene in “Seinfeld” where Elaine shuts that irritating woman up by quoting the movie….

Irritating woman: “I’ve lost my fiance’, the poor baby!”

Elaine: “Maybay the dingoh ayte yo bebeh.”

                    IW: “What?”

Elaine *huge smile* : “The dingoh ayte yo bebeh!”

IW: *looks at Elaine as though she is crazy, but leaves her alone*

avoid sophie’s choice like the plague. she doesn’t lose a baby but is made to choose which of her children won’t die in the nazi gas chambers… i’m not a parent and it effed with me.

also, Up is a great movie and that part is only a small part of the film. if you two are in a good place mentally i think you’d really enjoy it. it’s never mentioned in the rest of the movie and overall it’s quite sweet.

                • We’re slowly getting to a better place mentally. Not there yet.

                  • shortright; founding member AAAM says:

one thing that i really liked… in the film they didn’t play it off like it wasn’t a really big emotional event. you could see the characters grieving (for all the the minute that they spent on that topic). i thought that made it that much more real and also made the rest of the film that much sweeter and loving.

i’m glad you guys are doing better. as they say, all it takes is time…

                    • Callista says:

Sophie’s Choice is about as far as playing it for laughs as you can possibly get, though. And dead-baby comedy is quite unrelated to stories in which babies and young children die.

                      • shortright; founding member AAAM says:

umm, what? i was talking about “Up”…

                        • pittypat says:

No, Shortie, it is imperitave that you get this critical distinction regardless of which movie you’re discussing because … um, well I guess because Callista thinks so, that’s why!

                • dissimilitude says:

Ohhhhhh, that movie was just devastating.

              • I still wouldn’t watch Quigley Down Under for that one anecdote. It was depressing. I do love the movie but then again, I plan to buy Devil’s Advocate and I already have AvP Requiem…

              • Default User says:

I don’t think they lose a baby, they just find out that she can’t get pregnant… so no dead babies.

    • charro says:

      BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
