I am both faculty and staff, and although I have not published any books, I have done a few articles, reviews, and presented papers a 2 conferences. And I wasn’t saying I was smart. I think you were just trying to talk that sass. So.. you present papers often?

Justa, Clinton was a scholarship kid, at least for his undergrad degree at Georgetown and his studies at Oxford, so while there’s plenty we can accuse him of (being phenomenally incapable of keeping his dick in his pants, for one thing!) buying his degree ain’t one of them.

It’s been my experience that
degree =/= intelligence
degree = feelings of superiority.
A bad education makes you think you know everything; a good one makes you understand what you don’t know.
I like that and I think it’s pretty true.
My best professor admitted to not being a perfect psychologists, and that if we did private practice we should learn more from every patient.
My worst one just acted bored the whole time and worried about getting his name on another paper.

Which will increase knowledge and possibly understanding, but not experience, at least in my understanding of the meaning of the word “experience”.

It’s been my experience that way more people who don’t have degrees bash people who do for being ‘out of touch’ or ‘elitist’ than people who have degrees look down on those who don’t.
And, yes, I have degrees and am proud of the work I did to get them and am thankful for the opportunities to have done so.
Maybe in the real working world, but in the world of academia elitism is the norm. I live in it.
I’ve lived both there and ‘outside’ and find this is just a fact of many people who are expert in their field. I know my mechanic rolls his eyes at people who don’t know which end of their cars the engines are in…heck, I do it with him. When you’re really immersed in a particular field, you have to remember that people outside it aren’t stupid, they’re just ignorant of your expertise…probably they have one of their own that you might not know jack about.
And not giving away my degrees…I need them to whack the teenager with when he thinks I can’t do his math homework!
but we are all socialsts now, so all that stuff you worked for is now given to people who dont work- takes his degree and offers it out to someone else-

The physics degree is just to make my Grandfather happy before he dies. He was a mechanical engineering professor and worked for the military before he retired. He was really upset that I didn’t persue a degree in math or science, and I have to say that if I had listened to him, I just might have graduated.
Oooo…neither of my grandfathers lived long enough to see me graduate…and one wouldn’t have been impressed by a ’stupid college degree’ anyway, so you can borrow one of my math degrees to make *your* grandpa happy!

Neither did my dad, who was the first person in my family to go to college. (Yay, GI Bill!). I sure did wish he could see me when I walked for my law degree. I’m pretty sure he would have liked that.
