I have no respect for those who drive drunk. And yes, I have a personal reason. My sister was killed in MY car by her new boyfriend, who had to have those beers to show off. And then had to show off how he could drive MY hot rod VW. And then went 80mph in a 30mph curve, flipping MY car, and ejecting and KILLING MY sister.

I don’t think that’s what JAC was doing. I think it’s just a subject that hit a nerve with him. I can sympathize with that.
It seems like EVERY subject hits a nerve with justa. He has an opinion on everything, and you can usually see his posts a minimum of 10 times in every thread. It wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t being snarky and/or disingenuous about it. There’s no such thing as a civil disagreement with him, he always takes the low road and says the nastiest thing about that person/subject he can think of. It’s like he’s deliberately trying to “start something”.
When I was in high school, I lost my 17yo 8 month pregnant friend to a drunk driver. So obviously, I don’t condone that. For the record, Ted Kennedy denies being drunk during that incident. I’m not saying he wasn’t lying, I’m not saying he WAS lying. I’m just saying that was a LONG time ago, and he had apologized several times, and had since dedicated his life to trying to do good. As a christian, shouldn’t you forgive someone who is remorseful? Isn’t that what jesus would do?

Among other things, JAC, I think you’re applying current standards (as far as drinking and driving and wrecking your car, resulting in a death) to an incident that happened at a time when standards and expectations were far different. It’s entirely possible that by TODAY’S standards, he’d be screwed, but that’s irrelevant.

A lot of my point was that Cheney made a location error, and it’s a lot easier to get disoriented than to choose to drink and drive.
