  1. DANG says:

This should seriously be on a T-shirt.

  2. Kay says:

He is trying to lure a sniper into taking a shot, Usually there is a counter-sniper well concealed who will then take out the sniper. Alternatively there is a spotter who will call for a 500 pound gift for said sniper…..

  3. borokid says:

A trusted method since at least WW II. My only concern for that soldier is the firearm on the ground pointed directly at him. Weapon safety is key no matter where you are.

  4. J. J. Ramsey says:

I’m not sure why anyone would say that even *looks* stupid.

  5. ay dios mio says:

Every time this picture is used people just sense it and come to explain to us what is going on. Now I’m not military and my knowledge is limited but IT’S NOT THAT HARD PEOPLE. WE GET IT MOVE ON.

    • froofrou the Barenaked Lady says:

Blah blah blah blah (type of gun on ground) blah blah blah blah (fact that gun is pointing at guy) blah blah blah (military significance of what the soldier is doing) blah blah (IT’S NOT AN AMERICAN SOLDIER) blah blah blah (froth froth froth about idiots who don’t know their guns) blah blah.

THere. That’s your typical care/military troll post, so now that it’s out of the way, can we bring on the (non recycled) funneh?

    • Chrisfs says:

Blame the site. They put the note “if you know what’s happening, say it in the comments’ and everyone thinks “whoa finally one that I know, I’m so commenting on it”

    • Jojo says:

      /round of applause.

It drives me f***ing crazy too.

“Cool, here, 20 internet points for knowing he’s trying to trick someone. Congrats, now GTFO!!”

  6. keithybabes says:

It’s not gonna help him much if someone lobs a hand grenade through the window.

    • The Steve says:

And what exactly would help him in that situation?

…Or if the enemy drops a bomb on the roof, or if a truck crashes through the wall, or if a rabid leopard runs through the door on a human bloodlust fueled rampage….or any number of extremely stupid and unlikely situations that may occur.

Do you have a tool that allows you to easily remove your shoe from your mouth? I’m just curious.

      • paws4thot says:

An infinite improbability field turns him into a bowl of petunias… ;)

      • Danbala says:

“And what exactly would help him in that situation?”

        Being somewhere else, of course!

      • keithybabes says:

Nah, more likely that someone’s going to lob a grenade in through the window. In the scenario we’re looking at. Do you have a tool that allows you to remove my shoe from your mouth?

        • The Steve says:

Really? You think a grenade is more likely than a rabid leopard?

As mentioned above, and I hate to explain it again, this technique is used to expose long range targets. A target close enough to lob a hand grenade would simply be shot.

Furthermore a soldier wouldn’t be just hanging out in that room alone, he has several other people covering the other entry points to the building. (the person taking the photo, for one).

Why did I even bother to type this….

          • keithybabes says:

Right. So… the lookouts looking out for short range targets are looking out how exactly, if they don’t want THEIR heads blown off by the long range targets? I get a mental image of a whole bunch of heads on sticks…

            • HelOnWheels says:

And for some sick reason I go from heads on sticks to babies on spikes.
“I’m Crazy Eddie! I put babies on spikes. Do you want a rack of babies?”

      • Jojo says:

How is a grenade being lobbed in the window a stupid or unlikely scenario?

I’m assuming he’s in war, and I’m also assuming there is probably an enemy nearby.

I don’t know about you, but if I had a hand grenade and I saw a strange person staring at me through a crack in the window I would most certainly lob the hand grenade into the window.

  7. VictoryNotVengeance says:

But using the word “ain’t” on the other hand….

  8. Brandon says:

In the background does it look like there is a midget (possibly armless) wearing a pink shirt spying on him?

  9. PFC Diaz says:

This is the smartest thing I ever seen, I haven’t been deployed yet but I know I’m going to try this lol.

    • peepers says:

This is the smartest thing you’ve ever seen? Congratulations, Diaz, you just qualified for the army!

      • ay dios mio says:

I know you’re just a troll, but that’s just mean.

      • Care Troll says:

wow you really are a dick

        • peepers says:

          Be nice.

          • Care Troll says:

Why? You’ve insulted anyone who’s ever served in the army. Seems like a good reason to be rude.

            • peepers says:

Does that mean you can’t be nice?

              • Care Troll says:

                pretty much dicksniffer

                • peepers says:

Nice. I’m a bad person, and you act worse than I do. And you’re not even smart enough to get the hypocrisy.

                  • Care Troll says:

Yet I don’t go around insulting people who haven’t insulted me. So who do you think is really worse?

                    • peepers says:

You insulted me, I didn’t insult you. Look up about 2 inches.

                      • Care Troll says:

I’m an 8 year active duty veteran of the U.S. Army. By implying that all soldiers are Dumb you insulted me and every other vet and soldier.

                        • peepers says:

I didn’t imply that, but rather was commenting about Diaz’ stupidity and the Army’s current recruiting standards.

As an 8 year active duty veteran of the U.S Army I would think you should have both a thicker skin and a desire to see the army be the best of the best, not filled with the idiotic leftovers who couldn’t pass wood shop.

                        • Care Troll says:

If you must insult a person to make yourself feel better than insult a person not an entire organization. You already agreed with me once when I said you insulted anyone who ever served in the army. Don’t change your story now.

                        • HelOnWheels says:

CT – and he insulted PFC Diaz (and the military) for making a joking comment. I’m thinking it’s jealousy at PeeperTroll’s own lack of a sense of humor.

                        • peepers says:

Admit it – you just want to feel offended.

If you read my original comment you’ll see that what I just said above is true, but then you would have to admit that you misunderstood it and apologize to me. And we all know you won’t do that, so you’ll continue to pretend to be offended so you can righteously defend something that’s not under attack. Well done, soldier.

                        • Care Troll says:

I am offended because you stated that all it takes to join the army is low IQ. You can delude yourself into to thinking that’s not what you said but the bottom line is, it is. It takes both written and physical test to qualify for the army. It also takes a high school diploma so the guy that failed wood shop would of never made it. I worked hard while I was in and I don’t like my service demeaned by people like you.

                        • peepers says:

As I said, Care TROLL, you just want to feel offended. Nothing I can do about that, so have yourself a good cry and a gallon of ice cream.

                        • Care Troll says:

OOH you write troll big now I’m worried. Maybe you didn;t intend it as an insult to the military but that is indeed how it came across. Perhaps using more descriptive words and phrases in the future will help make a more vaild point and not make you seem like such a douche.

                        • peepers says:

Care Troll, now that I know how sensitive you are, I will be sure to dumb down my posts even further in the future to avoid accidentally hurting your feelings again.

                          Have a nice day.

                        • brak the Zappaist says:

                          Peepers is still in pain.

  10. Kat Lentz says:

Not really funny if you’re the guy hoping to not get shot! Obviously, he thinks there are enemy snipers just waiting to blow his head off, and this is the safest (and sanest) way to test that out! I hope that both the soldier and his gear made it back in one piece!

  11. ausna says:

    usefull for rpg ^^

  12. justacarolinian says:

I actually saw a much better caption for this picture in the voting. “Jose Jalapeño (On a stick) joins the Army!”
Right Jeff ah fff fff ah.

  13. Philip says:

    Hence “looks”.

  14. John says:

That was a strategy used in WW2, the soldier would stick up a helmet on a stick or pole, and hopefully a sniper would shoot, revealing his/her position. This allowed the soldiers to shoot the sniper after revealing his/her spot.

  15. Paranoimia says:

If the ’sniper’ happens to have an RPG, he’s pretty fooked anyway!

  16. RCKeeper says:

I see the midget too! Sneaky midget, we’re on to ya!

    • HelOnWheels says:

You people that are seeing the midger are on drugs and I’m really pissed off that you’re keeping them all to yourselves!!!

  17. Paddy says:

We reserve the right to arm bears!

  18. Patton says:

    Sniper spotting.

  19. Jack says:

Checking if a sniper is there, or luring a known one :)

  20. trusts says:

    smart approach, but war sux.

  21. Jim Hubert says:

What we have here is a trainer at an Army counterinsurgency school, creating the illusion of a muj fighter hiding behind a partially blocked window. Note that he is below the normal height of any incoming fire, and further protected by a substantial brick wall.

    • Donald Zerli, Patriot says:

Ah. Modern fighting techniques. I never would have been able to figure it out without this explanation.

Eliminate the two spaces in the link, of course:
