Oh Boy…. another military fashion show… *yawn*
LOL typical american girl
LOL typical insufferable asshole troll
Maybe typical, but I bet she can kick your ass in ways you never thought possible.
LOL typical European who’s jealous he can’t own his own grenade launcher.
win (srrsly, no undertone)
My Bunker r yourz honey
All my bunkers are belong to her.
And this is what my father meant by “protection..”
If you’ve got the inclination, I’ve got the firing range.
its almost like its not even worth the effort of the click to check the site anymore…how did this pass the vote?
how could it not, lookit her!
giggity giggity!
Awwww…are your little feelings hurt that someone loves America enough to defend it, VNV? BTW–me likey. Just something about a woman with a double bandolier of 40mm grenades…
I love America enough to defend it. Nothing wrong with that. I mean… I don’t love America enough to invade another country as an agressor. I don’t love America enough to kill thousands of civillians. I don’t love America enough to develope a “we are better than everyone else mentality.” I don’t love America enough to sacrifice my moral principles for a flag. So… I am not sure what you are asking? If you are concerned with my post about the military fashion show… my feelings aren’t hurt, just bored. Its just too bad there is not more funny news that makes for good captioning. Seems like all we get are random photos of suck, with even suckier captions. And if anything, there is gonna be nothing left of this chick if anything bad does happen. She has strapped herself with explosives. Maybe the “protection” mother was talking about had more to do with firearm saftey? This person looks more like a suicide bomber.
I have an “I am better than YOU” mentality.
And that is why you fail.
Of course. I would expect no less. when do the ha ha’s start?
I am afraid I don’t follow? I suppose the Ha ha’s would start when someone posts a funny picture to this site.
Maybe the ha ha’s start when you notice the irony of the egotism in your post.
I don’t see any egotism in my post, other than my veiw that I can express when something is not funny. Maybe you just have nothing to say, so you decided to say it towards me?
Here’s a quote, you tell me if it sounds a little full of itself. “”I don’t love America enough to develope a “we are better than everyone else mentality.” I don’t love America enough to sacrifice my moral principles for a flag.”" From this I assume you think your moral principles are BETTER THAN somebody else’s moral principles, please stop with the “i don’t know what you are talking about” nonsense. You contradict yourself with such a pompous attitude, i felt a moral responsibility to 1) point it out to you. and 2) laugh at you for it.
Really, because after reading what I wrote, I still stand by it. I never said my morality was higher than anyone elses. I just stated what mine was. And anyone who things they are better than anyone else would be wrong. So… I guess you are pointing at a mirror and laughing at yourself? Because thats what it appears to me. Thanks for trying though.
“thinks” not “things”. Are you a mirror?
I am when people post stupid comments, because i relfect their nonsense right back at them. And yes, spelling errors occur when you are multi tasking at work. I am glad you were able to decipher when I meant and post if for wicket, who will undoubtably be confused.
is that hitler in a bath tub? That pic deserves a Lol!
Hehe, it’s not the man himself but an actor representing him in a bathtub sieghailing whilst playing with miniature battleships.
I never said anything about her morals. I said “boring and not funny.” It was everyone else that showed up wavin’ there flag and bit ching because i didn’t start glorifying the military as soon as I saw the uniform. But that ain’t me.
Oh Jesus playing a harmonica, can you three take it somewhere else? This is beyond silly.
I’m not part of the three, we’re the three witty two!
“I don’t think i’m better than you, therefore I am better than you.” Does that make any sense? You can’t be modest and elitist at the same time, it’s either one or the other.
I’m a modestilist and I’m definitely better than you!
My morality is whats right for me. Just because I think people are created and live and die as equals doesn’t mean I have to agree with what you say. Doesn’t even mean I can’t say you are wrong. I can easily say “I am no better than you, but my opinions are better.”
people created equal ???
Yep. “created” as in, born into equal human rights from birth.
I disagree to disagree to disagree!
The girl in the picture above has morals too. Your post seemed to stink of condescension towards them.
I think he meant: “We” as a country “are better than everyone else”, that doesn’t stop his moral principles from being (or seemin, or appearing to him as) better than others’.
That’s your problem, you assumed that following their own principles meant that they thought everyone else’s were lesser. Which makes no sense.
If they aren’t willing to give up their own principles for the sake of supporting someone else’s, I don’t see how that’s egotistical.
Not *that* threatening. No gun visible.
She going to just throw those things at me?
Give be a double pistol packing babe any day, like Rubi
from the new video game “Wet”.
it would never work they need to spin for 35 ft before they’ll detonate.
Using two pistols at the same time is entirely movie/video game make-believe.
Accuracy would be horrible, and the war fighter can’t reload effectively without either holstering or putting down the second weapon. Not only that, sidearms are meant for close combat situations when the soldier can’t effectively use the primary weapon, or when ammo runs out for the primary weapon.
Sorry to destroy your little fantasy.
No, the point of two pistols is to intimidate people enough so you don’t have to use them at all. Or possible empty one, drop it and use the second one normally.
Fiction.
Holy crap! Is your brain entirely broken?
Yes, it’s fantasy. It’s a video game. We all know that, supergenius.
Seriously, you win pedantic douche of the week award.
ok i agree pistol accuracy would suck wit 2 of them, but ever seen laura croft tomb raider?
she got something there that worked. there are other movies (Underworld i believe?) that somone could reload both at the same time.
Are you f*cking kidding me?
MOVIES.
I’m not sure exactly what those go in, but it’s likely they feed the guns in the A-10 Warthog she may or may not be standing in front of.
look I was a soldier for 8 years and deployed to Iraq twice. I got out because I didn’t agree with the current conflict. However this part “kill thousands of civilians” doesn’t happen. The only reason any “civilians” would be killed by coalition forces would be because they engaged them and The CF was defending themselves. The only official army in Iraq is on our side and every thing else is a militia. so the enemy combatants are civilians who are the ones who start the conflicts. I’d be happier if they;d stop for a few months and let everyone think we won so the soldiers can come home. I could care less about what happens to their country to be honest.
agreed about the retreat.
Really? Because I could have sworn all those news reports about bombings and civilian deaths were comming out of the middle east? I also know that when missles are fired, they aren’t fired at people but at buildings, and so when innocents are near the buildings, they die too. I have never said any individual soldiers purposly killed civillains, but to pretend like the only civillians that have died are millatant attackers is nonsense. Also, any civillians that did attack against what they thought was an invasion, attacked rightfully to defend what they considered to be their homes. And when they were killed as “insurgents” they were still innocent. And you really should care what happens to their country. The planet is only as strong as its weekest link, and the US has made sure we have plenty of those around the globe.
Last time i shot a woman, someone said “Why do you kill civilians?”
I replied ” She was no civilian, she had a beard!”
Last time I shot a woman, I got bonus points. ^w^
when’s the last time you’ve seen a missile fired? Have you ever been there? I’ve seen apache’s hovering over a truck as a form of intimidation. The Fallujah clearing ops everyone was given weeks advance warning, Weeks, to evacuate the city. I’ve seen f-14’s flying over head as a show of force with out firing a shot. you want to be concerned about civilians worry about car bombs set off in market places. Those same militia’s kill people women and children just trying to get groceries. All because they have a different religion. And not massively different. It’s the equivalent of chatolics and protestants killing each other. Same god just variations. Hell I’ve seen first hand some of the way these “people” kill. They don’t do it quickly or in defense. More then once we’ve found bodies tied up and shot. Or even people who’s head was dipped in acid unitl all the skin was eatten away. Think about who loves killing and who the real monsters are. And ARE YOU SERIOUS? You talk about how the u.s shouldn’t ivade other countries and then say we should care about Iraq? Do you have any idea how hypocritical that is? you can either support the government as we try to make a government for Iraq where people aren’t gassed in the street for being born different, or you can say we need to stay home and defend our own country. You can;t have it both ways.
I do not undertsand what “being there” has to do with information about the area. Obviouly, those who have “been there” have limited control over what they see, hear, do, are told, and how the information is supplied. Being there is not the all important factor in making a decision. And would you evacuate your home just because some foreign power told you to? If Iran sent you an e-mail and said to leave your homes because it was about to invade, would you just pack up and go? I know about their religious differences and i also know that there has been massive violence between catholics and protestants in the past. But its not about religion, its about control of resources. And the reason its about control of resources is bacause there are so many people in poverty. Tied up and shot is “excecution style”. Its pretty common. You shouldn’t care about a country. You should care about the people in it. Countries are just places where those in power have gotten enough power to but up boundries between them and a neighboring power that might threaten their conrol. I don’t support our or the Iraqi government, because i truly do not believe that either of them have any publics best interest at heart.
so people in the middle of it (who still have acess to cnn and other major news sources) no less than the people who see it on tv while eating their corn flakes? The Iraqi government were the ones who issued the evacuation notice. Ok I was going to respond to that topic by topic but as I came here, “You should care about the people in it” I realized that you are a one of the people who are going to hold to your convictions. Even though you just agreed with me. Yes we are making the country safer for all people. kurds don’t have to worry about being gassed in the street anymore. You seem ton have a way of twisting words around to make them seem like they are you’re ideas and that’s what you believed all along. I’m not wasting time on you anymore but before I go can I ask how old are you? It’s just a curiosity.
quick fix (it should read know not no)
and I never meant you needed to support our government. just that you can’t have it both ways.
Look, if I can have it my way at Burger King, I can have it my way in global politics. Geez!
Hehe, here we say “Geez” as an insult for portugese people.
Well there you go. Now I have offended the right wingers and all of Portugal. I just can’t win!
the right wingers at burger king?
Them too… I guess I won’t have to worry about waking up with the King next to me with an Eggnormous Sandwich anymore. I’m gonna miss him…
I like it. You say I twist my words. You twist your words the same way. You cop a couple of insults, and the wash your hands of me. Is asking my age a way to further insult me? What if I was 55? or 15? or 10? What would it matter? Nothing, because you would just use your “not really have to do with an issue” arguement to make “a point” if you can call it that. And Kurds might have it better, for now, but we still haven’t done anything about the poverty level. You create enough hunger and everyone becomes a criminal. If its not the Kurds it will be someone else.
Ok I know I’m breaking my word here.
1) where did I insult you?
I didn’t realize saying someone holds to their convictions was an insult.
and to quote you”I don’t love America enough to invade another country as an agressor”
and
“You should care about the people in it”
I fail to see how we can help people if we don’t do anything.
2) I was curious as to your age because I was interested in what life experience you had. But as I see on a comment further down. You’re a student with a lot of time behind a book. Might I recommend you take next summer off and maybe go and tour some of the “hot spots” of the world. obviously not ones we’re at war with but maybe go meet some middle easterners and see what their life is like. You can only get so much information from text. This is a problem with the current government. They studied really hard and never saw the world and only look at it through paper.
“Student” doesn’t mean you know my age. Everyone of all afes should be a student. And when you stop learning… you have already lost. Second, I would love to go view the world’s hot spots. Its a good thing doing so it so cheap and redily availible to anyone who wants to. And now that I know it, I certainly will. Ofcourse… I will still only be able to go where i am told by the military… so it won’t actually be as helpfull as books written by locals. And I would raather elect officials with book knowledge than just military tours of duty any day of the week. Brains over Brawn.
You stated you’re a grad student. Not a philosophical student. and I never said join the military, nor did I say hope on the next plane. Also you must not pay too much attention to the news if you forgot about the Florida high school student who went to Baghdad in 2007 I believe it was. But you know what? It’s become painfully obvious you’re a new age hippie with no grasp on the real world. I honestly feel sorry for you when you leave school and enter it. I’m assuming you’re persuing a career in politics and you’re gonna be in for a rough ride. You my my wishes for a good life. You’re gonna need them.
I wouln’t use the word “hippie”. And its obviousness to you means you like deduction skills. And just as you think i like knowledge of the real world, i would argue that you have misused the knowledge that you have and come to incorrect conclusions. Thank you for your wishes of luck. For all of our sakes.
Brains over Brawn? So you would let a heart surgeon do brain surgury on you? Just because you have brains doesnt mean you can do anything. I personally would have liked someone who had experience running some sort of business or government entity than someone who voted not present most of the time and was a community organizer who worked closely with organizations like ACORN
Are you saying heart surgeons are smarter than brain surgeons? And yes, having brains opens up unlimited doors for people. Your antiintellectualism is fail. And I certainly wouldn’t want someone with nothing but business experiance running the country, because business men and too concerned with profit, and that usually comes at the expense of people. I would much rather someone who has experiance working for people…. for instance… a community organizer, or perhaps someone who has done extensive social work, or has an advanced knowledge of other cultures.
I am not saying that heart surgeons are smarter than brain surgeons. Apparently the statement I made above is too complicated for you to understand. Let me make it more simple for you. I was mearly saying that you should vote/hire someone for a particular job that is qualified to do that job. I for one would not want a heart surgeon operating on my brain. I don’t think defending an organization that defrauds the government and working in a soup kitchen qualifies you to be president of the United States. /heavy sarcasm (yes I know he was a rep and senator for part of that time and a professor)
Wait a second. How can getting an unbiased first hand perspective not be helpful? Are you telling me that if you read Mein Kampf. You would believe everything in there was not just the opinion of one man? Books are only as honest as their authors make them.
Thats why you read more than one.
doesn’t matter how many you read. Text is never an equal to life.
Life is limited to one person’s experiance. multiple books are the sum of multiple lives. I beg to differ.
but those books are the feelings of the authors. they are anything but factual. VNV likes to eat giant tacos on the beach. Just because I typed it doesn’t make it a fact. The only way I or anyone else would know if it were true would to be by going to the beach with you. The experience you get from life only goes by how you live it. Why do you think more people who lived a middle class life and are family people get elected. They have the knowledge and experience of life. Not just books.
Who DOESN’T like to eat giant tacos on the beach?
I’ll have you know that my great-auntie was killed by a vicious flock of feral giant tacos….on a beach. *cries*
My condolences Diss, feral tacos are a terrible way to meet one’s end.
damn the feral beach tacos. Why must they hurt the ones we love?
You have to check the primary sources Care Troll. And you do realize that you even view your own life though a window of feelings and interpretations. You might chose not to remember something because its painful, or ignore something because its uncomfortable. The point its, there is no way one person in thier lifetime can experiance as much as the combined research of all the people writing on a given topic. absolutely no way.
VNV- you have to know the REALITIES of a world before you can know what you’re talking about. If you’ve read about murder, or war, you still don’t know about murder or war. You know how to, of course, but you know NOTHING of either until you’re forced to experience or commit them.
He’s right, you are wrong….haven’t you realized this by now?
See? Wickets even on my side now. Thanks buddy!
far from it
LOL.
Why would you defend something you think is bad?
I defend the parts that are good. The land and the people. Not the government. Not the corporations. Not the rich who are taking advantage of the poor. But the land and the people, I want to keep them as safe as possible.
Do you live in a house? Do you shop at the grocery store for food? Poverty didn’t provide those conveniences for you, corporate “greed” did. If you had it your way, there would be no America because no one would be allowed to be here unless they were pure blood american indian. It would be great if we could just give everyone a hug and make nice with them but that is not what life and human nature is. I feel sorry for you. All you see is the negative in human kind.
American Indians had houses and food and didn’t rely on corporate greed. I am glad you brought them up. And quite the contrary, I have a very positive veiw on human kind. Sounds like you are the one with the negative view. “Its ok to kill”, “people aren’t equal” “god bless corporate america”. Perhaps you need to reconsider?
Perhaps you would be happy in a Tee Pee (sp?) I would not. The Indians also killed each other. Not so rosey huh? As for your positive view on human kind, that may be as long as it does not pertain to America according to your posts. I would not say that I have a negative view, I think it is more of a realistic view. War will happen, people will die, some people around the world will be worse off for it and some will be better off because of it. America does many wonderful things around the world thru monitary and volunteerism (not sure if that is a word or not). Live if not fair nor is the world perfect.
A common misconception by someone with limited knowledge. Tee Pees are like pup tents. They are temporary housing. Only really used in the mid west by the tribes that followed the buffolo. The rest of the tribes built houses. You know. Wood walls, floors, doors. “Houses”. And yes, war will happen, but you attitude should be “how do i make it happen as little as possible, and how do I stop if from being necessary”. You can’t just chalk it up to “Oh well, nothing I can do, better go drive my hummer around and eat a cheeseburger.”. There -are- things that can be done, and its up to each of us to make sure those things happen. The moment we decide that nothing can change is the moment we make sure it never will, and thats pretty sad.
You are a condisending ass. You assume I have limited knowledge. I know there were various ways to build dwellings in the time of the native american. I chose not to list the sod homes, the cave dwellings the adobe homes etc. If you would be so happy in such an environment they why dont you move to some hippy comune instead of spewing your self rightous crap here?
Not cave dwelling. Not sod homes. Houses. Wooden roof. Wooden walls. Wooden door. Houses. You chose not to list it because it wouldn’t help your arguement. I thought you were happy living in a house?
I did not choose to not list it because it would not help my arguement. I don’t think it matters. Given the choice to live as the Indians did and as we do now I am pretty sure that most people, other than you, would not chose to live as the Indians did. I would love to continue this discussion but I have to get some work done so I can help pay for your education. That is assuming you go to a school that recieves federal funding of some sort.
Funny, I am at work paying for your retirement package. That is assuming you did retire honorably from the military?
Didn’t stay in for 20 years for retirement so you are not paying for any military retirement. I also would surmise that since you are in grad school doing school and homework for 80 hours a week that you probably do not make enough money right now to pay taxes. As for social security, I am pretty sure that will not be available to me by the time I reach the age as there will not be enough money to pay for it.
Wrong again! I do have a full time professional job and I do pay taxes. You keep assuming this stuff about me. Doesn’t it suck that you miss the mark everytime? I would just quit trying to “figure out” my political stances by guessing my lifestyle. Its not working out real well for you.
“Doesn’t it suck that you miss the mark everytime?” ooooooooo…you are such a mystery. Hmmm where does VNV stand politically? You have been very clear about your socialistic and unamerican views. No guessing or interpretation required. And yes, if I recall correctly, you write articles for those evil corporate companies that publish such stuff.
“You have been very clear about your socialistic and unamerican views. ”
So suddenly not being a ‘GIMME GIMME GIMME’ warmonger makes you Unamerican?
To Zoreta.
No. Read the last weeks LOL responses that VNV has written. Wanting to eliminate the upper class and limit salaries etc to me seems pretty unamrerican. I don’t recall VNV saying anything positive about America. If all you can say is bad things about America then yes, I think that is pretty unamerican. Maybe anitamerican would have been a better word to use. Either way, quit being an idiot.
You piled socialist in with unAmerican, nice backtrack though.
Critiquing your government is a healthy thing to do, it’s the only way to get a country to grow- in fact, I think critiquing the government and trying to find ways to make your country better is the most patriotic thing you can do. Just because they’re a pessimist doesn’t mean they’re unAmerican.
You can thank the American government for how they are now. Back when we got here, they had houses. Maybe no enclosed windows, but they didn’t need them. They definately lived in wooden houses though.
You know, VNV, I think you are ALSO overgeneralizing — the tribes in the desert southwest have historically built with adobe (as described by shortright), not wood, which tends to be in short supply. Not sure about the plains tribes, but again with the lack of, you know, TREES, I’m guessing wooden houses weren’t common.
Not sure about the plains tribes, but again with the lack of, you know, TREES, I’m guessing wooden houses weren’t common.
diss, am i allowed to profess my undying heterosexual love for you now?
Sure! I’ll meet you at the Sod House Museum in Oklahoma. We can hit a casino and give the native americans some of their money back….
Oh yeah. There was brick houses too. Not arguing that. Just saying they didn’t all run around in Tee Pees which was the comment I responded to. Carry on
And btw, I lived in a hole in the sand for about 6 months. It was not fun. I imagine living like the indians did would be about the same amount of fun.
Saddam? Is that you?
You really need to research the Indian tribes of the US. These people had cities and villages. They actually lived pretty well. Their technology was even perfect for what they wanted. And they didn’t hurt the environment as they went. Pretty amazing really.
bet they didn’t have PC’s made by “corporate America”
Thats true. And they were probably better off. Look at all the time we have wasted on this website today. Arguing over politics when all i said was that the picture wasn’t funny. And just so you know, we would have had PCs without corporate america. Technological evolution would have happened either way.
ow that made me face palm so hard it hurt.
seriously is any one else picturing the college know it all hippie from south park?
You should just keep facepalming with that same force until you are no longer able to reply.
VNV, stop acting like a holier-than-thou jackass and people wouldn’t respond to you so strongly.
Did you know we have powerful PCs today because IBM did not adopt the corporate philosophy?
Having built the first PC, they could had put a patent on it, guaranteeing they were the only one authorized to produce it for a long, long time.
But they knew this would not improve PC technology. Letting other companies research this technology to improve it and having competition as an incentive to keep improving computers has done us a lot of good.
Thanks to IBM for using their brains and thinking of what would truly improve our lives instead of falling for the selfish corporate mentality.
I should point out that my comment is not about being for or against corporations and capitalism.
Competition is a corporate thing, that’s gives companies an incentive to improve their products and services.
And preventing competition by using patents is also a corporate thing.
So we have powerful computers today because IBM did not act as a corporation and because other companies acted as corporations.
Greed is an incentive and it’s fine to use it to a certain extent. But we have to set limits and upon reaching those limits we should put our greed aside.
By the way, did you know health care (rich paying for the poor) is good for everyone? Because death takes out a huge investment. A lower class worker may have little money but is still useful. Letting him die is a waste of precious resources for society.
So if the rich pay to save the lives of the poor, it eventually pays off because more workers means more stuff available (and faster improvement of technology, which considerably improves our lives. Think of computers, dishwashers, cars, etc.).
So in the end, it pays off.
Don’t forget every scientist who improves our lifestyle quality has needs. He/she needs food, a house, a lawyer, a doctor, a car, entertainment, etc. That’s where lower class workers step in.
Now if all these lower class workers died because they had no money, 90% of our scientists would have to take blue collar jobs to provide for their own needs and the needs of the other scientists.
That would mean less scientists, which would lead to slower technological improvement, which in turn leads to slower life quality and comfort improvement.
Indians had war long before the white man showed up. They knew the importance of physical force, and the possible retributions of not having enough of it.
At which point in history? There were plenty of Native Americans that worked with trappers and furrers for guns, money and so on and at that point in time the fur trade was fairly corporate and definitely evil.
Before anyone suggests it, I am not saying what happened to any of the tribes was okay, but people need to stop treating native americans like this exotic mystical people that lived in perfect harmony with everything and everyone and would do so forever! they’re human beings, with all the flaws of human beings.
Agreed. No one said they were perfect. But they did have an amazing way to live without harming the environment as we are used to today. Hell, Indians has wars as well.
Why do I keep hearing Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains? Can you paint with all the colors of the wind? in my head?
*sings*
“Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they’re worth”
you’re of my generation.
that’s the ONLY way you knew those lyrics without copy/paste.
mid-20s, right?
lol Not quite. I was only 5 when the movie came out but I watched it over and over and over. I was even Pocahontas one year for Halloween. I still love that movie. Anyone else getting a bad case of nostalgia?
i was close!
i did the same thing to the little mermaid (burned out multiple VHS copies). i actually met jodi benson last christmas. really nice lady… a bit of a stereotypical blonde, but nice. she signed my dvd.
Oh, I can vouch for having little girls who watched it overandoverandover again searing the lyrics into your brain, too.
I miss old Disney! Now it’s all Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers! :’(
Never fear, ladies. Toy Story 3 is coming to make it all better soon.
Buzz Lightyear to the rescue! Gee I hope Toy Story 3 isn’t going to be as disappointing as some of the sequels Disney’s churned out :\
I have heard that they are also re-releasing Toy Story in 3D! I am really looking forward to that.
I checked and they are: and even better, they’re releasing both 1 AND 2 in 3D, together!
Toy Story 2 wasn’t a disappointment. Of course, that might be the first Disney sequel ever to say that. Aladdin 2 was an atrocity and 3, well, not even Robin Williams saved that one.
i’m hoping disney is getting back to making good stuff. even if it’s sequels… as long as it’s good i’m ok with it.
those knock off little mermaid sequels/prequels were trash.
toy story 3 has me PUUUUUUMPED. i loved 1 and 2. 2 was so sad though… poor woody.
I didn’t like the sequel to Pocahontas. It disappointed me so very much. It lacked everything that made the first one good I think.
And has anyone else seen the Hunchback of Notre Dame sequel? That is the definition of TRAVESTY!
squiggly, you need to join the PK facebook group. i think you’ll like it there. search for “the pk irregulars 2.0″… there’s a 1 step verification process but then you’re in.
as for hunchback of notre dame… umm, how did they have a sequel? didn’t the chick run off with the handsome guy in the real story? or did they disney-ify it like the little mermaid so that it’d have a happy ending? because in the “real” little mermaid, in order for her to get her fins back (because eric married someone else) she had to stab him in the heart with a knife that her sisters bought from the sea witch (by cutting off all their hair) and his blood on her feet would turn her back into a mermaid. if she didn’t do it, she could throw herself in the ocean and she’d become the foam on the top of the waves. and because she loved him so much she couldn’t kill him when he was so happy with his new wife, so she threw herself into the ocean and became foam on the waves.
Hey Disney re-polishes a bunch of their stories to make them more “kid-friendly”. In the original Cinderella it’s got her dead mother sending her gifts through a tree, the step-sisters cutting off part of their feet to fit in the shoe and birds plucking out people’s eyes.
Also in Snow White the Prince DOES NOT KISS HER TO WAKE HER UP IN THE ORIGINAL STORY. They are actually on their way to bury her and the carriage hits a bump dislodging a piece of apple from her throat reviving her. I know Disney having the “true love’s kiss” bring Snow back was probably more romantic but it raises questions as to what kind of Prince kisses dead women.
Don’t even get me started on the differences between Disney’s Hercules and Greek mythology’s Hercules. Shesh.
But the Hunchback sequel involves an evil circus coming to town but oh surprise one of the circus girls falls in love with Quasimodo. Or something like that. The animation was so much worse than the original I zoned out and tried not to throw things at the tv.
i actually like aschenputtle much better than cinderella. it might have something to do with reading it in the original german though…
Huh? We’re prepping Squiggly for orientation? *snaps on rubber glove* I won’t lie. This is gonna hurt. A LOT.
I give Hercules a free pass because it’s not meant to be anything even remotely close to Greek mythology, more of a parody of it. And James Woods was a riot in that one.
Yeah James Woods totally made that movie for me. Also the Muses were pretty cool.
rando – be nice. we only verified you without lube because the screams were too fun. it’s not that painful for anyone else.
both of yous – i only saw hercules once. in my 7th grade latin class. as part of the curriculum. but it was also the end of the semester and i think the teacher just didn’t want to deal with us anymore.
*gasp*
You lied to me.
Only movie I remember watching in school was Jeepers Creepers 2 in a Parenting and Child Development class. I’m fairly positive it wasn’t in the curriculum…
rando – sorry?
squiggly – you never saw donald duck in mathmagic land?! i think i saw that once a year from 4th grade til college!!! it was a math department end of the semester staple! i also saw a bunch of german films in my german class (lola rennt, die versprechung, the comedian harmonists (don’t remember the german name of the film), and triumphe des willen).
My most unrelated movie in school:
My American History teacher in 8th grade somehow managed to convince the school to let him take us to see Mommie Dearest for a field trip. I have no idea how or why, except that he was somewhat interested in Joan Crawford. I guess it’s history if it occurs in the past, right?
@Short: D: You got to watch movies in math class! Darn I’m jealous! Math class meant doing problems on the board my whole school experience with the end of semester becoming a tangle of bingo, card games, and heads ups 7 up.
anybody else get scarred by the prince of tides in english?
diss – i think that one was a MAJOR stretch.
squiggly – hell yeah. literally almost every year. even my senior year when i was taking AB Calc we saw donald duck in mathmagic land. there used to be a time when i could almost quote that movie. i still remember the “angles” lesson that was demonstrated on a pool table. i just remembered for my german class we also went to the theatre to see “die zaubere floete”… 4 hours out of the middle of the day watching an opera.
So did every other civilization early on. I mean Native Americans did have a bid effect on the environment around them, I mean look at Buffalo jumps.
Just saying there is no group ‘born’ immune to corporate greed. I’m sure some Buddhists and such can pull it off but that’s a matter of training. Humans are by nature selfish and greedy, but we have the grace of logic and intelligence to overcome it.
And what is your definition of rich? Anyone who makes a decent living for themselves? I am tired of hearing the old mantra “the rich taking advantage of the poor.” If I were truely taking advantage of the poor then I wouldn’t be giving up over 40% of my salary to help them. And to be honest with you, after seening all the news on ACORN, I am not really sure if it is not the other way around right now.
I am sure rich doesn’t include you. I am talking about multi bliionare CEOs that sit on multiple corporate boards and find ways to cut costs by skipping saftey for people, the environment, and the overall good of the country. I suppose I could also talk about those who are filthy rich and don’t actually have “important” jobs, like movie starts and professional athletes. For those guys, I think that all thay money they make should be redistributed back to those who pay to watch. I think people like you just like to make people like me into one of those “down with the middle class” folks. You would be wrong. I am all for the middle class. But I am also for the elimination of the upper and lower classes. No, not through guns, which is probably how your gun ho military might makes right attitude, but though legal actions and peaceful means.
“But I am also for the elimination of the upper and lower classes”
So you want to get rid of the 90% that pays for the government and help support the middle class? Who do you think paid for the school you are going to? The poor? What about those evil people that own the publishing company that prints the books you use to study?
I know you are not a stupid person but that has got to be the stupidist comment I have seen you make. So how much money should everyone make? How small or big of a house should they have? What kind of car should they have? What type of food should they eat? If this is how you think then you are certainly more dangerous than any military supportor. You want to take freedom away from people. For the sake of my children and thier children I hope you do not succeed in your endevors.
I think you misunderstand me. There would be a wide range of salaries depending on what a person did, their education, what they needed and so on. But there would also be salary caps. Noone needs millions of dollars a year. For anything. Period. And I wouldn’t choose what type of care anyone should have. I would garuntee that everyone has food, clothing, shelter, medication, education, transportaion, and communication. Everyone should have a TV, but if you an 55′ LCD, you get a job and work for it. House size would be based off necessity and income. The point is, that as technology increases as it has, the poverty level and the standard of living has to increase as well. The money would all come from the fact that corporations and wealthy people get rich by taking money away from people as they purchase products. What we would be doing is ensuring that the same still happens, but once any group reaches a salary cap, then the profits for those endeavors would be routed back to the public, because afterall, its their money anyway. You children will be fine, trust me. They will also be safer than they are now. Terrorists won’t be terroists when thier people have the above mentioned pormised goods.
I did not misunderstand you. You are a socialist. It is very clear. You want to dictate to people what they can and can not do. You want to tell them how much money they can have and how they can live. You are the most dangerous person to America. Not the terrorists. In your dream world there is no room for entreprenuers. There would be no personal PCs and many other things we take for granted. You and those like you are very dangerous. I hope to hell you do not succeed. And my kids and grand kids are not safe. They are indebt up to their ass and have not even been born yet (grand kids that is) because of thinking similiar to yours.
Dictate like they can and can’t do? Like… umm.. laws? Don’t we have those now? How much money they can make and how they can live? Like… umm… capitalism?
In my world people will study because they have a passion for the subject. Doctors will love healing people and not money. Inventors will invent because they have a passion for creation. Technology will evolves because its whats best for everyone.
I think the world you are so afriad of is the world thats arround you currently. And so you are right to fear for your children. Because their parents will have screwed them for generations.
you think dictating how much a person can earn is capitalism?
LOL, oh man your comments are getting funnier as the day progresses
Uh.. yeah it is capitalism. You have to sell your labor. You only get paid what the “economy” thinks your labor is worth. Its why teachers, policemen, and even the military personel is underpaid while move stars and pro athletes make millions. How can you not see capitalism as directly dictating how much money a person can make? Are you saying that its just some someone to make billions because they sit on multiple CEO boars of directors? While someone working for the corporation at the bottom works for minimum wage? Guess they should have just been born into richer families huh? You are insane if you can’t see how capitalism allows the rich to get exponetially richer than the poor who are foced to have low wages. My comments may be funny, but its you who apprently lives in another world
VNV- you’re such a p*ssy, I bet your nose bleeds every month!
OK. Let me think about this.
“Everyone should have a TV, but if you want a 55″ LCD, you get a job and work for it.”
So if I don’t feel like working, I still get a free TV? Cool!
“Once any group reaches a salary cap, then the profits for those endeavors will be routed back to the public.”
So if I work and choose to spend my money on a huge TV, I’ll get it back anyway? Cool!
“House size will be based off income and necessity.” So how will you determine necessity? And does my TV purchase count against my income? Apparently not, since it’s my money anyway. What if I decide to get pregnant over and over again (I’ve always wanted a big family) and then I need a big house to fit all my kids and my husband? And of course I won’t have time to work, because of all those kids, so you’ll have to take some money from somewhere else and give it to me.
“In my world people will study because they have a passion for the subject.” Doesn’t that happen anyway? I’m studying English because I love it. But, like every student I know, I’m also studying because I need to study SOMETHING in order to get ahead in the world. I want a college degree to get a better job so that I can do something I love instead of flipping burgers for my whole life. There is definitely a stereotype that doctors, lawyers, etc. only study in high-paying fields because they are high-paying. But have you ever asked a doctor why he became such? He could have become an engineer, a lawyer, or another high-paying job if he were only interested in the money.
Basically, your nonsensical socialistic crap is idealistic at best, and dangerous at worst. Deciding for people how and where they should live and on what they should spend their money is not conducive to productivity or growth, because it encourages people to take for granted everything you guarantee them.
Isildo
Yes. A free TV. No cable. Not satellite. It comes equipt with emergency station and probably a weather channel so as to make sure you can get out in case of emergency. If you want more, which I assume you will, you will get a job.
Yes. If you buy a huge TV, and everyone else buys new TVs, that extra money will go into the larger economic pot that will be redistributed to things society needs. Roads, police, military, teachers, as well as helping to provide the new modern necessies I mentioned.
If you have multiple children, you will have room to take care of them. Not a mansion, but adequate housing. Feel free to have your big family! As far as working, I suppose if your basic needs are met you can shose to work or raise your children. God knows we need parents active in thier kids lives. And if you don’t work, or parent, and have multiple kids… well then it will be just like today, so nothing will change!
You study english because you love it. Great. Hope you realize that there aren’t many “high paying” jobs for English Majors. You may not be getting as ahead as you think. And what if you don’t land that sweet job? Got student loans to pay off? Living eith your parents? What if you are one of the hundreds of thousands of people that don’t get ahead? Maybe you can write? Or get a new major? School will be based on enrollement need and free for those who want to learn. Go to school until you find your way up!
Basically, your arguements are moot. Secondly, yes, its idealistic, but its way better than saying “it can’t be done.” I would rather have a room full of people with ideas and hope than a room full of people with no new ideas and who are just as satisfied to do nothing and pretend its as good as it gets.
I don’t remember anything about how someone should live or where they should work? And I think in modern society people do that based on where the jobs are which is capitalism. So as you see, you are already don’t where to live and what to do. Don’t see a difference there.
And Doogie, your intellect astounds. I’m just kidding. I hope you do realize that by making the joke about my nose bleeding and me being a pussy is incredibly sexists. The “pussy” is only bad because its weak and feminine. And oh no! One wouldn’t want any feminity! Also…. heaven forbid that pussy go through a period. Its so unnatural and gross! Or… it could be a natural biological phenomenon. So… keep on doing what you do, but try your best to use your brain to think about what you say before you say it. Ok. Bye bye then.
As a side note before I get going, I’d like to point out that I know English is not a high-paying major. I have allowed for that in planning for my life. I will do something I love doing, and I will do what is necessary to create the life I want. I will work for it, I will earn it, and I will have a right to it.
You talk about people taking things for granted, and then you offer them a free TV. Free housing. Free education, if they feel like it. Don’t even have to work if you have kids, they’re free too! Sounds like a utopia, and that’s how I know it will never work.
I’m going to try to apply some realism, and see how well this vision works. Presumably we still have corporations, because the LCD TV’s are available. Clearly we have some luxuries. The government–or you–or maybe those are the same–will set a cap for the corporations, beyond which they are not allowed to invest in their own growth or development but must instead donate to the public funds. I can’t be sure, but it sounds like that would slow down growth of our economy a bit.
Students will go to school to study whatever they want, for free. Since the government is paying for their classes, there will understandably be a much larger population of perpetual students because learning is cool! Will the government pay for them too? Or will they have to start paying for themselves eventually?
Housing is decided based on need. How will you decide what we need? It’s safe to assume that mostly everyone has about the same needs, I suppose, so long as we temporarily exclude the mentally or physically ill. So we’ll determine housing arrangements based on the number of family members, that’s fair enough. That completely eliminates competition in the housing market, because everything will be prescribed by the government. It also requires that you tell everyone where to live, because if you’re going to control how much space we’re allowed to have then you accept the responsibility of telling us where that space is to be found.
Now, what about those mentally or physically ill that we set aside a minute ago? Healthcare is already going over to the hands of the government, which may or may not be a good thing. There is, of course, a chance that it will fall out just like the housing market I just described: you tell us how much and where we can get it, provided someone “more needy” isn’t there first.
I could go on and on, but basically it comes to this: guarantees breed complacency, complacency undermines competition, competition ceases to fuel the economy. Eventually, the whole society falls into decay.
Isildo, you win.
Who is this “we” you speak of? As in “What we would be doing is…”
why do you think minimum wage rises?
forgot the quote sorry
“The point is, that as technology increases as it has, the poverty level and the standard of living has to increase as well.”
I think minimum wages rise as a concession to the lower class to give them a flase sense that they are making more, when in reality, inflations happens olmost immediately, and the poor can’t really afford any more, and then they are still left without what modern technology should give them, and not just in this country, but around the world.
Which, really, is the key problem with minimum wages in general and “living wage” movements in particular. Poverty’s relative. Raise the lower level, everything else goes up, and bingo, you got the same number of poor people you had before.
One thing about the US, our poor people (can) live better than middle class people in some countries do!
I agree. However, where we may differ, is that I believe it is our responsibility as world citizen to pull everyone out of poverty, not just those in poverty in the US. I believe that if we can fix ourselves, and show that it works, then we will be able to help the world over until we are all working together, and noone goes hungry. The food is there. The Raw materials are there. We just have to want it. Do you want it?
Actually….yes, that would be good. I suspect I’m a little more cynical on that matter than you are, however, as I suspect that even with all basic needs met, whoever’s at the bottom is going to want more, and resent those who have more, because it’s human nature.
I absolutely agree that we shouldn’t have people going hungry anywhere — most famines are politically based rather than actual there’s-not-any-damn-food based. It’s generally a matter of somebody keeping the food away from them. How (without interceding violently) do you suggest we put a stop to that?
I don’t have a full answer for you. The best I can currently say is this. Those policitcal powers holding food back want something. Who knows what it is. But we have to ask, and then reason with them. Usually, they want some kind of money or favors, or more power. To a degree, we should make concessions to make sure the multitude gets thats they need. When the multitude is healthier, then we can have us a peaceful revolution from within, instead a violent revolution from without. Now this is also idealistic, but since I haven’t had the chance to speak with any foreign leaders yet, I have to be a little obscure.
Well, you know, sometimes they just want to kill the people they’re keeping the food away from. (And I would say that the LAST thing we need to give a powerhungry political power that’s withholding food from starving kids is more power.) I can understand wanting to try a nonviolent approach, discussion, negotiation — I’m just dubious as to how effective that would be.
“I don’t have a full answer for you. The best I can currently say is this. Those policitcal powers holding food back want something”
You could start by asking your congressmen why they mandated/voted to turn food into fuel. That move alone has decreased the availibility of affordable food through out the world. Lets also not forget the government paying farmers not to grow anything so the price for certain items remains high. Of course I am sure you know all this as the parties whose ideals you seem to support are pushing this.
seriously capitalism is the ability to succeed basically by being the best. You think bill gates got rich because he was born into it? No. he created microsoft and people purchased his product. Capitalism allowed him to keep the billions he earned. If he had a salary cap and the money went back to the people. Well hey there you got socialism. but all that money couldn’t support everyone equally in the u.s. now could it? so what can we do? well we’ll give what we can and now you have a family of 10 living in a fema trailer because that’s all the government can provide.
Why couldn’t all that money support people equally? If we capped every corporation that gets the majority of its profit from the public, incliding hollwood, pro sports, and all of your favorite corporations and thier boards of directors, we could easily garuntee food, clothing, shelters, medication, education, transportation, and communication to eeryone in this country. And if we did that globally, we could succeed globally. Just because you like war, poverty, and violence, doesn’t mean it has to be that way. But if you just up and say “can’t be done” then you have quit before you even started looking at other options. Just because we are in America doesn’t mean we have the best solution. We just have “a” solution. And that solution hurts millions of people every day. Its time we looked for a better one.
well if everyone has a salary cap how can they afford to spend more money on better things to put more funds into the program? What if we just took a portion of everyone’s income and use it to repair roads build low income houses and give money to people who really need it?
but of course a portion equal to their income another words the more you make the more you pay.
The salary cap can be pretty high man. Just not in the millions. For some reason when you hear salary cap, you are thinking 50k a year or something. We have to still have room to grow as a peoples, but there definately comes a point when enough it just too darn much. And secondly, why would we take a portions of everyones income (taxes – hey we do that now!) when the uber rich have that much extra just sitting around piling into their bank accounts? If we took from the top, there would be no need to change the middle, and it would only help the lower.
because the uber rich earned it. You sound jealous and bitter to be honest. why not aspire to be rich rather than stopping people. You want everyone to have jobs and a good life right? well how is a rich guy who say runs a car company going to open a new factory to employ more people to give their families a place to live. and there by allowing a man to open up a dealer ship where he hires employees, which in turn allows someone with money to purchase a new car.
and i’m out of time for the day time to head off to corporate america and then school adios
“If we capped every corporation that gets the majority of its profit from the public, including Hollywood, pro sports, and all of your favorite corporations and their boards of directors, we could easily guarantee food, clothing, shelters, medication, education, transportation, and communication to everyone in this country.” [Spelling corrections provided by Mozilla]
Could we? Really? Have you calculated the cost to support every single citizen of the United States? Not to mention the starving masses around the world? Don’t forget that guaranteeing food, clothing, shelters, medication, education, transportation, and communication to everyone in this country would reduce your workforce considerably, because I know there is a huge demographic that would look at these things provided for them and think, “You know what? I’m good!”
I must admit. I am currently doing fine just working at the university to pay for school, and if given the chance of free education for the rest of my life, i would have no incentive to go out and just be productive.
I don’t like to be a drain on society, but really so easily following my passion would mean i would be draining.
If everything in life is just guaranteed to you, what’s the point of working? What’s the point of having a family? What’s the point of living?
You know what the difference between us is? I like to think that there is more to life than having to live for everyone else, but refusing achievement for myself. You say “it can be done,” but how is it going to get done if we all are pushed into complacency by a government that discourages hard work by taking away our incentive to work? I think that almost anything is possible, just like you do. But I see that the only ones who can make these things possible are the ones who do it, not because society needs it, or because they have been guilt-tripped into action by “greater good,” but because they have a passion to do the thing they love, and a way to achieve it. Do you think that Henry Ford built a car because society needed cars? Society got along just fine without them until that point. He did it because he had a passion for the science that went into his invention. His own creativity was responsible for his achievement, not some arbitrary desire to serve “the common good.” If a person feels the need to be charitable and determines it to be a valuable use of what they have earned, then they have every right to be so. But when a government mandates altruism, it ceases to be valuable. It becomes a guarantee, and that discourages achievement. You say that people who like capitalism like war, poverty and violence. But you couldn’t be more wrong. War, poverty and violence are caused by oppression and complacency, and capitalism encourages exactly the opposite. Capitalist ideals, which you are clearly unfamiliar with, don’t support the enslavement of the masses. Communism does. Capitalism doesn’t take advantage of people by making them work for less than they deserve. Dishonest people do, and capitalism is destroyed by dishonesty. This is the only role government should have in a capitalist society. They should keep the dishonest people from screwing over others with fear, theft and coercion. The biggest reason communism fails time after time is because once a country adopts a communist mentality, it cannot pull itself from the ensuing downward spiral. Today, we have a president that encourages this “brother’s keeper” mentality. He seeks to expand the government to proportions that Americans 50 years ago would’ve found unthinkable. I am sure of his intentions, and his intentions are to help people, and I can respect that. The problem with this is that we don’t know who will have power in 10 years. 20 years. 100 years. We could elect the next Hitler, and because we handed over all of our rights to the government, we would be powerless to stop him. Our our government’s job, as it is enumerated in the Constitution, is “To secure to blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” In the end though, it comes down to us to keeps those blessings. We have the opportunity to achieve, but we also have the power to throw away our opportunity to achieve. Once we do that, there is no going back. Once we lose that right, we lose our purpose of living.
Godwin’s Law, debate over.
In other news, I think I love you, and may I recommend Terry Goodkind’s “Faith of the Fallen”? If you haven’t read it, it’s my favorite of his books and a wonderful illustration of why capitalism works and VNV’s plan doesn’t.
Thanks, I’ll check it out
Good to see a friendly fish in the PK sea
related thought–if there were a salary cap, what would have inspired Gates to invent a new OS and then improve and edit it into the most successful piece of software on the markets?
Technology evolves with or without money.
how do you come to that conclusion? Honestly I’m rather curious about this one. With out money for R&D how does Technology evolve? And with out the hope of someday making money off of the invention why would anyone make it? Why would apple make an ipod if CD’s were good enough?
Now, care troll, if you do as I did and spend years selectively breeding your old 8-track tapes, eventually the technology will evolve into an ipod.
I tried that. All I got was a 1 track cassette of inagodadivda.
You have to make sure you’re using a male and a female 8-track. I’ve had pretty good luck with breeding Led Zeppelin IV with Tapestry by Carole King. Then you take that litter, sort out the cassettes if you got any, and breed the female cassettes to a copy of Never Mind the Bollocks, it’s the Sex Pistols. That should get you started.
You assume people will just lose interest in evolution just because there is no money? Gosh… i guess we really don’t have any inventors left. Just employees… sad really.
Money provides an incentive. If there were no incentive beyond Windows 95, where would we be today? Money=competition=improvements.
money=greed=poverty
Greed compels people to work in a Starbucks, a factory, a janitorial position they don’t really want so that they can afford a better life. Greed makes each corporation want to be the best, so they make the best products they can. Greed, in short, drives quality and keeps our economy afloat.
Care Troll has a point: there would be no demand for an iPod if CD’s were good enough for everyone. I don’t doubt there would be a “Hey, wouldn’t it be neat if we could carry thousands of songs around in our pockets?” guy. I doubt that any corporation would be willing to develop the technology if they didn’t get something out of it.
“Gosh… i guess we really don’t have any inventors left. Just employees… sad really”
That is what you are creating when you put everyone under government control. Don’t you get it?
I think we’ve established he doesn’t get it. I can’t wait until his first political fundraiser when he ask people with extra money for a hand out after telling them his idea. Keep us posted will you VNV?
According to the current administration “rich” does include me. How many multi bilionare CEO’s do you think are out there? According to Wiki there are 359 billionares in the US. You have a very unrealistic and wrong view of corporate america. Maybe you should try getting your information from multiple sources and multiple books.
And as for cutting costs by skipping saftey for people, please give me an example. I am in the construction industry and I can ensure you that OSHA and local government agencies do not allow for unsafe conditions. They impose very hefty fines if they find anything remotely unsafe. OSHA is also very active in the manufacturing industry etc. I could agree with you on the environment to a point, a very small point.
Redistribution of wealth is not the answer. It is foolish and stupid to think that it is.
It *does* include you?
DADDY!!!!!
Yes it does. Unfortunately it includes alot more people than it should. I certainly don’t feel rich, believe me.
In every post you write up, this is exactly what I’m hearing:
I know you think you’re right, but honestly, try and see past yourself and wonder if other people’s viewpoints not be just as valid.
I have been hearing “same old” and “good as it gets” for too long. Its not new. Its not different. Its not porgressive. For me, its not even remotely valid.
I have not heard one person, including me, say that the current system (pick a subject) is perfect. We all think, in our own way, that any system can be improved (excluding smores). Progressive does not allways = good idea.
I have a secret plan for improving s’mores. It involves using a dark chocolate ganache instead of a hershey bar.
Well then, Semperfidd, whats your idea? How do you improve whats to come? What is to be done? I am really curious, because all you have said is “you are wrong” and tried to argue against me. Tell me what you are arguing for. I will let you know what I think are good points and bad. Tell us all how you make progress from where we stand right now?
I agree with you.
I’m worried one of these things could go off by accident and dig a hole in her chest or cut off her head. I heard they won’t explode on impact with a human body but they will go right through it.
But maybe they’re safe enough they won’t shoot by accident unless if you beat them with a hammer?
Hey Sparky, i dont think his feelings are hurt he is just BORED TO DEATH of the same thing that is just no longer funny. But I am sure we will get another firefighter pic today too. Ahhh remember the days when this site used to be funny.
On a side not the girl is hawt!
Yes, she’s really hot. I’d like to get killed over and over by her!

there’s no kill like overkill….
Sure there is. There’s Killtacular, Killtrocity, Killamanjaro…

We’re gonna need all these ideas for Halo 4.
Do you think she really NEEDS that many lipsticks?
Those aren’t lipsticks silly, they are suppositories!
Specifically for VictorynotVengance!!
I think there is enough stuff up there already.
No need to gloss over how you really feel.
it’s a bit shade-y in here
No worries – there’s always a silver lipliner.
I’m tired of young people posing with their weapons all like “Dis’Ll make Dah AweS0mZ Fac3Bo0k Pic”
You didn’t know? The ability to take human life is cool! Killing is the “American Way.” It worked against the American Indians, the Witches, The Blacks, the Communists, The terrorists, The Muslims, and basically anyone else who doesn’t remember to always wear their flag pin.
Oh, and the Mexicans. I nearly forgot!
um wasn’t the cold war ended without a shot being fired? you can return the soap box now.
that’s why it was so cold. Shots produce heat.
Hell naw. Korean War and Vietnam were Cold War conflicts that killed oh so many.
And we Muslims never kill ANYBODY!
Don’t know where this came from? Thsi is about the cold war, and whether or not people died during it. Which they did. And I don’t understand how “because other people kill people, killing people is right”. That attitude is gonna land you in prison, pal.
His point is that you only seem to think American’s are evil for killing and forgotten that EVERY group on there has done SOMETHING evil at some point.
Yawn….another America is bad comment from VNV. Your comments about how bad America is are as boring as the cat lols they have been posting. If you think America is so bad please move.
I think my other post is “being moderated” for a cuss word. So.. I will post this in the mean time “No way I would move because its up to me and citizens like me to fix this mess.”
By sitting on your ass and being passive. Lets see how well that works for you.
I wish that was what I am doing. Unfortunately, one cannot just appear that the top, unless one is born into it. But right now I am sitting on my ass and working, as I go to school. I probably spent about 80 hours a week on grad work and school combined. Don’t worry. I will still be posting in a few years when more things come to fruition. I will keep you updated.
So when you get to the top are you going to be one of those rich people that take advantage of the poor? Personally I think if you make it to the top you should give everything you have earned away to the people too lazy to work to get to the top. Just an idea.
You idea is very close to what would actually happen. Once I get to the top, I will use virtually all of my resources to help others. When I am done I hope to have nothing but a place to read, write, and sleep, and live with my family. No mansion in LA, not private jet, no personal island. No millions in the bank. I will give it all up to make sure whats just is finally given to those without the voice to be heard.
“No mansion in LA, not private jet, no personal island. No millions in the bank”
Well I guess you are not going to be a senator then.
Not if those are the qualifications. I will just have to be better than that.
Hey, I don’t have any of those things! I must be a famous philanthropist!
Giving away what you have to help others is an honorable goal, kudos to you. Requiring everyone else to give up their hard-earned money is NOT OK. Encouraging, OK. Ordering, mandating, forcing, NOT OK.
Being born into wealth and then sitting as a CEO on several borads or directors and making crap tons of money is not earning it.
Btw, good thing we don’t pay taxes now. Cause then I would feel like it was being forced from me! Oh wait…. that happens now under our current system.
That’s still only a part of our wages, and it’s not necessarily a system I’m happy with. I understand that everyone would keep their money, given the chance. Under the Articles of Confederation, the States had a choice to pay taxes to the federal government or not and guess what? Most of them didn’t. That’s why they sat back down and wrote the Constitution.
I’m fine with paying taxes to support necessary structures, such as government and military. I’m iffy about having my wages garnished for Medicare and Social Security.
I don’t think you would be iffy if you found yourself in a time of need. I think you would be all for it. I think everyone would. Thats why so many people talk without walking a mile in some of those peoples shoes.
To what time of need do you refer? Your statement is very vague, which makes it hard for me to either agree or dissent. Do you mean a personal need, when I find myself asking those around me for help, or do you mean a time of national crisis? Or something in between maybe?
“Being born into wealth and then sitting as a CEO on several borads or directors and making crap tons of money is not earning it.”
Why do you keep spewing this crap. Sure there are people born into money. Sure there are people getting paid lots of money for doing nothing. If I were to apply your logic in the opposite direction then I could say all the poor people are lazy ass people that don’t want to work. Because I am sure there are lots of them out there. Quit painting people who work hard and earn money as the “rich” elite.
And yes, we pay taxes now. Under your ideal world we wouldnt because the government would seize what they want by determining what they think you should and should not have.
You have no idea about my world. You just make the same boring right wing cliches over and over. Get a new idea, or get on with your life and quit responding to my posts.
You’ve been describing a utopian socialist state where everyone gets only what they need and pays what they don’t into the government. You decide how much housing people need, for example. You decide how much money corporations are allowed to make. You make sure the government has enough money to pay for free TVs, school, transportation, healthcare–that sounds a lot like telling people what they need and what they don’t. You’ve already said that everyone “needs” a TV while they don’t “need” a PC.
this ia a comment to come after isildo’s post, but I can say that I need a PC way more than I need a TV. I haven’t used a TV in ages.
How well could one do grad work without a PC?
I agree totally, Failev, and if worst comes to worst you can watch TV on your computer these days. TV? Pffft. Obselete.
“No, Semperfidd, I’m going to fight my way to the top, tithe my way back down to the bottom, and then accusingly ask why you aren’t doing the same thing.”
I’ll say it again:do what you want with your own money, but don’t try to tell me what I should do with mine.
Why is fixing poverty in Kenya from here different from fixing politics here from France?
And you can’t wait to put on your Hugo Boss black SS special suit (yes, Hugo designed the uniforms), and go out there and kill all those who disagree with you in the camps, right VNV?
YOU are the epitome of the thing you claim to hate, and erroneously claim to see in everyone else.
Umm… I don’t kill? And just because you disagree doesn’t mean you belong in camps or killed. I mean… some of you definately belong in mental wards, but that still doesn’t make your life less valuable than mine. I am not anything like what I claim to hate. I love everyone, even those that disagree with me. Because we are all a part of everything and everything is a part of us. I couldn’t be me if you weren’t being you, because I would have no other opinions for me to look at, and decide whats best for me.
I’m right, you are wrong, we are all created equal, and where’s the funny pics….about sums up your little tirade.
Thats about right.
I’m tired of anyone with weapons. What about Nutopia?
Is that bliss with Nutella? I like the hazelenutty chocolaty creaminess.
“We announce the birth of a conceptual country, NUTOPIA. Citizenship of the country can be obtained by declaration of your awareness of NUTOPIA. NUTOPIA has no land, no boundaries, no passports, only people. NUTOPIA has no laws other than cosmic. All people of NUTOPIA are ambassadors of the country. As two ambassadors of NUTOPIA, we ask for diplomatic immunity and recognition in the United Nations of our country and its people”
sounds like a snickers slogan.
Mk. 19 grenade launcher FTW!!
Good spot; you don’t thorw these grenades guys, you fire them from a BFG.
BFG? Big Friendly Giant?
Big F’n Gun
Mine was called “Thumper”.
I always liked “Vera”
Did her mother think she was a whore? Most mothers I know want to lock their daughters up in a convent until they’re 45.
i’ve always wanted a mk19…
Heh. No dogs will be dropping one of ubr’s lawn anymore.
I prefer a MK-ULTRA myself.
*sits, patiently staring at a goat in hopes that it will keel over dead*
I like it.
to those who have been expressing their opinions all over this post, stop it, you’re getting it all sticky. I’m glad you have them, and I’ll defend your right to have them to the death, but have them somewhere others aren’t trying to laugh. thanks.
If you clicked on this caption, you were obviously not trying to laugh, because its horribly unfunny.
Well, VNV, I for one am enjoying your posts. OK, you slip into obnoxious pretty often, but you’re passionate, patriotic, thoughtful, and willing to work hard to explain your ideas. I don’t quite get why people have so much trouble with you here.
3 words: Walls of text. VNV needs to learn to be more concise. Politically speaking, I’m more on his side than not, but it hurts my eyes to read too many long posts. And he’s more than slightly melodramatic. But like I said, I get on his side on a lot of issues. I just wish he’d tone it down a little.
Well, and the whole “I’m right about everything, you don’t just disagree with me, you’re WRONG, and you’re what’s wrong with America if you don’t agree with me” attitude.
Their basic premises are (while we disagree on many of them) not fundamentally that unusual, but the total refusal to consider that opposing viewpoints could have merit is ruffling some feathers.
And as wicket has ironically pointed out, VNV is distractingly arrogant.
this is my main issue with VNV. i don’t mind the differing opinions… hell, rando and i barely agree on anything politically. but there comes a time to agree to disagree and not keep yelling that you’re right and everyone else is wrong and that everyone else is causing the downfall of society as we know it.
plus, the whole “people become soldiers so they can murder other people” bit was WAY over the line. like miles and miles past the line.
I think you all are hilarious. The side that opposes me always says that they are right and I am wrong. I say the opposite and I am arrogant? And maybe just because I am not afriad to type what I type makes me arrogant? I don’t think so either. Admittingly, I do type blocks of text sometimes, but thats because sometimes I feel i need to explain the angle so that maybe someone who doesn’t immediately think I am wrong because i said something that may be diffeent form the “american way” will be able to hear a few details, and maybe add something contructive to them. I normally just get “Love it or leave it”, but I would love a coalition of thinkers for a better tomorrow. And lastly, I never saud anyone became a soilder to murder people. I said if you sign up and don’t really think about what you are doing, then “defendin’ freedum” becomes an excuse for murder. Unfortunately sometimes you have to read and not skim to get to all my actual points. I assure you though, I am quite humble in reality. My belief is that anyone, and i do mean -anyone- can do basically anything they put thier minds to. My arrogance comes from the fact that I believe the same of myself.
Now… Ironically after nother giant block of text, I am off.
Well said and a good one to quit on. I appologize for driving alot of the crap on this post. I just got pissed when VNV said that he wants to eliminate the upper class.
I hope you stay pissed, cause its coming. And frankly, they would be lucky if it came from me. Unfortunately, close minded people like yourself are going to force it to come from the lower class and frankly, that’s not gonna be pretty.
Say what you want about its chances of success or its probability of occurrence, but it has happened before and it will happen again.
And I just want you to know that for all my arrogance and all my ideology, I will do anything I can to preserve life.
It will never happen.
why?
because money = power.
there is no way you or anyone else would persuade the people in charge to cap their salaries or even take pay cuts. You have noble but misguided intentions. It’s been shown that people don’t really share your beliefs. There is no way you would ever get elected into a posistion of power without massive lies. Even if you became a senator or congressman I fail to see any of your proposed bills ever making it passed to voting stage.
I feel like I’m talking to my brother. Jason, is that you?
if it is… kick his ass at the next family get together. tell him it’s from me.
Shorty,
I may come across as arrogant but its because I believe in what I say 100%. Go find your quote and post it. I know what I said. I have never said anyone was a horrible anything, only that we were all equal and deserving. I have only told someone that they are wrong when they respond directly to a post of mine and tried to argue an opposite view. It goes back and forth. No foul. If you put your fingers in your ears, I am not writing for you. I am writing for those who might be looking for a voice. Insult me all you want. I will never bother me. I even understand. I wish I could say I was leaving, but frankly I have too much fun watching you do what you do.
Does patriotic include seizing peoples property? Or limiting someones level of success? Doesn’t sound very patriotic to me. I could be wrong though.
Horribly unfunny? What if someone has a different sense of humor than you do? And doesn’t hate the military?
I thought it was funny
)
Well there you go then. Maybe he did click on the right link.
I’m former military. I have a few silly pics like that of myself lol.
Stop it with the opinions already!!!
IMO that was rude!
you could’ve gone the extra mile and thrown the Honest in there…slacker
ah, sorry, just mho!
humble. HUMBLE.
pie. PIE.
I doubt there’s anything humble about these guys’ opinions, pittypat.
Easy enough to stop. Just invoke Godwin’s Law:
NAZIIIIIIIIIIS!!!1!
I’d never die for my country, there’s just too many morons living here.
Starting with the ones who hate America, right VNV? Or are you even American to start?
Well this LOL has turned into a massive clusterfvck. I’m out! See you on the next one!
“see you on the flipside”
(bonus points if you name the movie and the character.)
I say that and then I post on this LOL anyway. I’m a bit of a PK addict, aren’t I?
Just toss in a WP grenade as you leave….
A WP grenade? What’s that? WordPress grenade? Good idea.
wiley pete… white phosphorous grenade… an incendiary device…
Ooooooh, okay. Yeah, that’ll work too.
duh.
no clue on the quote??? really?? lemme throw you a bone here… “and shepherds we shall be. for thee my lord for thee. power hath descended forth from thy hand that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. and we shall flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be. et nomine patri, et filii, e spiritus sancti.”
mallrats?
nah just kidding but I’m picturing Willem Defoe in drag. Thanks for resurfacing that memory.
i started seeing red at “mallrats”. but then i saw that you got it and was like “ok. good. i don’t have to kill care troll.”
do you know what character said the original quote though??
and willem dafoe made a god awful UGLY woman.
I’m sorry, do you have a problem with Mallrats?
it’s a great movie. but it’s definitely not boondock saints.
That was a close one. I was nearly forced to give you the stinkpalm.
i would have been forced to revoke ivan’s ok-ing you to play with my boobs… would have been your loss.
Chocolate pretzel?
can’t remember who said it. The Prayer is what made me recognize the movie.
rocco says it not long after he kills the cat and decides to go after the entire italian mob. he’s heading out of the apartment – he tells connor and murphy to clean up the cat. he’s in the alley with murphy and they’re lighting their cigarettes just before rocco goes to the deli. he tells murphy “see you on the flipside” does something with his hair and walks away. the next scene is rocco in the deli with the 2 guys laughing about how they knew it was a set up… then rocco shoots them both and then shoots the deli owner/bartender full of holes.
Mostly unrelated: I know a guy in real life who reminds me a LOT of Rocco.
I had to Google it, because I’ve never seen that movie. Boondock Saints?
You should see that movie. That is all.
i can’t talk to you anymore.
*hangs head in shame*
I also haven’t seen Blazing Saddles.
GAH! Get your butt to a video store.
i really can’t talk to you anymore… don’t make me contact mrs. rando and have her get those movies for you.
A family get-together tradition was started with Blazing Saddles. After the whole family watched it together, from Grandmother all the way down to the grandchildren, everyone loved it. Became a tradition to rent silly movies every year thereafter. Some of the greatest hits besides Blazing Saddles were The Toxic Avenger and The Evil Dead. sounds weird, but my family has a great sense of humor. good memories.
Your family sound awesome. Just swap evil dead for evil dead 2 and I’m happy.
Ever rented Troll 2? Worst movie ever, bar none. The writing’s bad, the acting’s worse, the special effects are 6th-grader on YouTube level. Sooo funny!
Possibly “The Boondock Saints” just before Rocco kills everyone in the diner.
exactly. did you get that without the blatantly obvious hint i had to give a little while ago?
I didn’t read through all the posts cause I wanted to see if I really did have it, so no I didn’t read your hint till afterwards. It’s actually “catch” but I’m not being picky.
catch you on the flip side. damn. i was doing it from memory. same with the prayer…
Damn. I’d like to handle her ordinance.
Something about a good lookin’ girl with a BFG. Yumm.
That’s ordnance, sah!
Otherwise, I agree. There’s something yummy about a good looking girl with BF ammo for her BF grenade launcher. In fact, I think the BF grenade ammo is what makes her hawt!
Joke unrelated:
“A guy walks into a bar…”
“Man, he really should have paid attention to where he was going!”
Related unrelated joke:
Two blondes walked into a bar. The brunette ducked.
A snake walks into a bar… this joke is impossible!
cute as hell and carrying enough ordnance to level a city block…i approve
165 posts, 155 of them VNV putting his foot in his mouth.
Ah, chaos, panic, and confusion.
My work here is done.
I have yet to put my foot into anything but the rears of those who seem to be able to pull their heads out of the ground. And its a service I enjoy. And just think, its all because I said it wasn’t funny.
Wow. Elelyn Woodhead speed typing FAIL.
Your arrogance, not your sense of humor, is what i criticize. And it’s still shining just as bright as ever.
And yet you spew endlessly how you are against violence, yet you dream of kicking other people’s rear ends. Yeah, you’re a p*ssy all right.
Doogie, you can say pussy. It’s okay.
Ummm.. maybe you have trouble with context clues. The verbal foot is different than the actual foot. And I am not offended by your comment because if you have nothing other than insults, you obviously aren’t worth my mental effort.
this isn’t even very funny how did it get up to the main page?
It’s a mystery, unfunny things consistently make the front page on PK.
What is a mystery to me is how people complain that the posts that make it to the front page are unfunny, like VNV and Squiggly have. Not all pix are MEANT to be funny, some are meant to be cool, or express a political opinion or make an editorial comment or just be a meme, like the Taylor Swift and D-bag (which is a combination of many of those). And my examples are by no means trying to list all the types. My point is hot warrior girl has been a major meme since Ripley yelled “Get away from her you B*TCH!” (and maybe before that for all I know). In the case of this pic, not only is it a major meme, but it is major cool in my (never) humble opinion. I wish I had gotten in on the posts earlier, unfortunately I could only read the “fuzzy bunny slippers” and not respond to them, so I will content myself with pointing out this one minor but obvious point.
That girl would be messed up if something hit her….. BOOM!
Reading down, if you guys want to debate VNV, do it without cussing and ‘you fail’, ‘you suck’ kind of stuff. Nothing makes me skip your post faster than those easy-fail statements. This dude uses the English language pretty well, so don’t succumb to quick threats and bitch talk to out wit him. I challenge yall to do better.
God Bless America and DAMN Her Enemies, both Foreign and Domestic.
BTW- That Soldier girl is HOT!
What makes me a good demo(wo)man!?
