You’ve got Yew or Rowan. Yew is the traditional wood for making bows with. Rowan has the berries but I’ve never heard of anyone making bows from that??

I am in the navy, i currently came back from Iraq, this reminded of our trip over there. We had to check our M-16s and M9s in as baggage, they gave us this little form to fill out, which we had to check off which kind of weapons we were checking. and i kid you not at the bottom your could check off “slingshot” honest to gods truth…i laughed really hard when i saw that…

We couldn’ta afforded fancy stuff like that. But a ten year old kid with a bow made from kinda stiff wood (I can’t for the life of me think of the English name for the tree now – has red berries) about 2 cms in diameter (4/5th of an inch, mebbe), about the same length as the kid in question, could wreak havoc even with all wooden arrows.

First time I ever had a chance to try shooting anything, even with a bb gun was around grade 8, so age 13 or 14 or something. But it was great fun.

My wife and I are considering raising our cable bill even higher to get even faster Internet (maybe my Halo games won’t lag on the PC anymore, can’t even play it lately). Although the main thing I like about it is that it would LOCK IN that price for 2 years. I’m guessing if I don’t do it, that price will be what my bill will look like in 2 years WITHOUT the upgrades. This just gets me ahead of the game. LOL

No, all our stuff was home made. And if not lethal, definitely enough to put someone in hospital. Somehow, we never had to go there anyway.

I blame gramps. He made most of them for us, and showed us how to make them. I suppose that’s because he was one of them blood thirsty WWII-vets. ;p

On top of that, I had an older BB gun than my friends did, so mine had a REALLY long pump handle. I could get some serious leverage off that thing, and I’m surprised I didn’t blow it up trying to pump it full.
