My point was that, regardless of the correctness of the election count, if Al-Jazeera are reporting the same stories as the Western media, then we can be pretty sure that this (riots etc) is what’s actually happening on the ground.

It’s funny — I heard a piece on NPR a few years back (yes, I listen to NPR, try not to faint) saying that young Russians had grossly incorrect views of Stalin, things like underestimating his death toll, thinking he contributed to the Soviet Union’s defense in WWII, and generally that he was an effective, if tyrannical, leader.

Scary stuff. Guess it’s not just Russians.

And yeah, the Irish also got around a lot.
My Granny took me to Florida when I was 14 and, as soon they noticed we were Scottish, folk would rhyme off their Scottish/Irish ancestry to us. It was quite strange. All I can add is “Um… My ancestors are dead… um, aye…”

I just want to throw this out there. Russia has done great since Vladimir Putin has been involved. No I don’t approve of all of his methods, but consider this, people call him evil but they lavishly praise Abraham Lincoln, even though he restricted personal liberties just as much as Putin.

Vladimir Putin is as effective of a leader, if not more than Abraham Lincoln.
