ROFL! Didn’t a comedian say this just recently? I can’t recall who, though…

  2. The Jungle N says:

    W00T! 2ND COMMENT! and, awesome m95, dude…

    • Bothriospondylus (“excavated vertebrae”) is an extinct genus of brachiosaurid sauropod dinosaur. It lived during the Late Jurassic.

The type species, B. suffosus, was described by Richard Owen in 1875. The genus’s fossils have been found in England, France, and, perhaps, Madagascar (B. madagascariensis, Lydekker 1895). These findings have consisted mostly of vertebrae but pieces of hip and limb have also been found. In life Bothriospondylus’s adult length has been estimated at 15-20 meters (50-65 feet). These dimensions fall between Brachiosaurus and Pleurocoelus.

Age determination studies performed using growth ring counts suggest that the longevity of this sauropod was 43 years.

    • Aircaptain9 says:

It’s an m107/m82a1. The m95 is the bolt action .50 BMG Barrett.

      • Amateur Weapons Expert says:

Actually, to further elaborate, the M95 is a bolt-action .50 caliber bullpup anti-materiel sniper rifle, which means the magazine would be behind the grip/trigger. Also, if you use .50BMG in a sniper the recoil is a bit more devastating. The Barrett weapons use a .50 cal (12.7×99mm) with a decreased powder load, decreasing recoil while not affecting the range or power too greatly.

        • Aircaptain9 says:

the .50 cal 12.7×99mm is still a .50 BMG irregardless of the powder charge.

          • Amateur Weapons Expert says:

            @Aircaptain: regardless*

@steve, 12.7×99 is a .50 BMG SIZED catridge, but the Barrett rifles use a different powder load, therefore the Barrett’s rounds are not .50 BMG.

            • Aircaptain9 says:

You still don’t get it. A cartridge is not named by its powder charge, it’s named by size. All barretts fire the .50 BMG. They don’t make a separate cartridge for use in sniper rifles, and i have no idea where you heard that. There is a variety of cartridges used in .50 bmg rifles, including some with a weaker powder charge, but most snipers use the standard BMG.

The caption sums it up for the stop-loss crowd.

  4. The Steve says:

    “I seeeee you!”

  5. Valhalla says:

I’ve seen that quote before. On MY banner!

  6. The Steve says:

This isn’t the funniest…I liked the other one:
“What do you feel when you shoot terrorists?”
    “Recoil.”

    • I like that one too.

    • Charlie says:

Ah, heartlessness. Bolstering the military’s imagine since time immemorial.

      • viking gal says:

“imagine”? Oy. Modern education strikes again…

        • Charlie says:

Oi. That was a major typo on my part (but not modern education’s fault — way to jump to absurd conclusions). I apologize. I clearly meant “image,” but was typing way too fast and didn’t proofread. My fault. :)

      • Wyde says:

If that was supposed to criticize the military, I’d like you to tell us all how heartFULness helps in combat. And, after your done, I’d like you to apoligize to the people who save your ass every day. Ingrate.*
        .
*assuming you meant what you said

        • Charlie says:

No, I wasn’t criticising the military — I was criticising the representation of the military. Yes, I am morally opposed to war. I think any and all violence is reprehensible and vile. However, I understand it’s inevitability, and I respect and appreciate everything anyone does to protect my safety (even fight in illegal wars — they weren’t the ones who started the wars). My post was meant to criticise the idea that soldiers go through Iraq/Afghanistan/etc. blowing shit up and spitting bullets through the skull of anything that moves. I know, as I think you’re implying I don’t know, how impossibly hard it is for soldiers out there. I think the acceptance and glorification of violence (see other comments on this LOL) is disgusting. Violence is NEVER a good thing, but there are people (e.g. soldiers) who do it to protect us. That’s good. “What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist? Recoil.” That’s NOT a good thing.

Thanks for “ingrate” though. Makes a guy feel good to be called “ingrate.” Gonna write home to Mom about that one.

          • spookyu says:

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I’m glad to hear yours :) , but I have little doubt there isn’t SOMETHING that could be done or some event that could take place that would cause violent thoughts and actions even for an individual so entirely pacifist as yourself. Glorifying war is truthfully a very necessary coping mechanism; even airmen, marines, sailors, and soldiers are innately opposed to killing if only for the fact that there is some latent part of us that wants to preserve life, and well it happens to be a very effective coping mechanism to see the horrible act that you’re performing as being something that can at least be respected by your peers. Being cold, calculating, detached, and “heartless” is the only way a sane person can use their training to put hot lead into his foe downrange, because even the most battle hardened individual is none of these things when he returns home and lays in his own bed. To be able to turn that switch on and off is the real trick, something easier said than done. Besides you gotta be enthusiastic about your job right? XD kidding on that one, a little, wouldn’t you go crazy if you couldn’t lighten up once in a while even about terrible things? Yeah…but I’m a medic in the USAF just to let you know.

            • Charlie says:

I do see that side of the argument, to some extent (I’ll admit that it’s hard for me, having never been involved in any sort of combat). I do not, however, see why the PUBLIC needs to do that. Why it’s okay for the public to talk about soldiers killing people in such a way. Of course terrorists are bad people, but they’re PEOPLE. It really, genuinely disturbs me when people say things like that “recoil” joke — why do we feel that that’s okay? I think the argument is generally that THEY don’t mind killing us, so why should we mind killing them? But I guess I subscribe to the Gandhian “an eye for an eye and the whole world’s blind” philosophy.

(Thanks for helping me clarify my point, by the way! This is exactly what I was trying to get at, but couldn’t figure out how! :) ).

              • Oh Naaah says:

That “recoil joke” was from an interview with a Marine sniper. Just thought I let you’d know if you already didn’t

              • The public needs that coping mechanism so the soldiers aren’t demonized when they return and even then we aren’t properly taking care of them.

As for the Recoil joke, sometimes you must laugh or you will be forced to cry. We feel it is okay for the same reason we laugh at anything. A joke is a mechanism to take the bite of out an otherwise humilitating or mortifying experience…

Or you could lighten up. I find you being disturbed to be rather disturbing.

              • spookyu says:

An eye for an eye and the whole world is blind…suppose that’d make large caliber sniper rifles obsolete wouldn’t it? XD sorry, I jest. Honestly though there is some sort of cusp where an individual can see another as not deserving every human right (like…you know…living), and will take it away from them. That sounds pretty bad yeah, until you realize that the way it’s put into practice. Soldiers even of an enemy nation do have a degree of respect for one another, if not only for the fact that they have to face the same hurtles. If I were to have to kill a soldier of another nation I wouldn’t do it without a thought, even if I lacked hesitation there would certainly be a lot of thought behind the act. Now the Iraq and Afgan military crumbled and fell a long while ago, that hasn’t really who we’ve been fighting :-/ ya know? Now we’ve got your true “terrorists” here (I’m kind of not fond of that term…but I certainly wouldn’t call them ‘freedom fighters’ either). I’m just saying if you saw an individual with an IED strapped to his chest standing in the middle of a crowded marketplace….it might be a little easier to pull the trigger eh? I think the public just seems to like that scenario a lot more because it’s easier to swallow, so that’s what’s played up you know? It’s just cushioning to the general public, something to make it all not so bad, and we do that with a LOT more than just war.

              • Mister`Wolfe says:

“what do you feel when you shoot a terrorist?.. Recoil” is not a joke, it’s reality, because you try NOT to feel anything, you focus, concentrate, all you are shooting is a target, stop breathing, squease the trigger, feel the recoil, then relax, continue breathing and scan for the next TARGET.

Terrorists, enemy combatants and other threats are not people, just targets to be neutralized.

                • killslowly108 says:

If you are interested in how soldiers cope with killing, and how they deal with the fact that they are killing human beings, read the book: “On Killing”. Very illuminating indeed.

              • Trrig says:

Manson and Hitler were people, would you feel bad about the recoil joke if they were the target and NO Goddard, I needed some bad guys and they fit quite well actually.

        • AC says:

            • Jane St.Clair says:

Well, admittedly, Wyde is a first class a**hole most of the time.
              -
OT but whenever I see that someone has commented on this lol and all it says is DON’T RUN I keep thinking of that scene in Dogma where Matt Damon kills everyone at the board meeting of Mooby the Cow.

Don’t run, don’t run! Pigs! All of you pigs!!

Ah… I need to go watch that movie again.

  7. Jeff says:

Not much originality here. Too bad. If he’s after running targets, he should probably use the m110…

    • Jojo says:

I would prefer the M95 in the situation of moving targets. Larger rounds do more damage when they hit. If the chance to hit is the same based on environmental conditions, I would always go with a larger round. If you can only hit them once, make sure it stops them.

  8. RiderLeangle says:

What’s he doing with Yoko’s gun?

(Sorry, been watching alot of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann recently..)

  9. BA says:

  11. SailorTaksu says:

    “SILENCE I KILL YOU!”

    Knock knock
    whos there?
    Me, i kill you

  12. SailorTaksu says:

    Sailor Taksu thanks you. :)

  13. Andrew says:

I like this one because, it’s old but it’s still funny. The only thing I HATE about quotes that feature weaponry of ANY KIND is that you get all these kids that come out and suddenly know everything about every type of weapon in the history of mankind. Just enjoy the picture for what it’s worth people.

    • Grumpy Curmugeon says:

The only thing I know about guns this size is that they usually don’t bother shooting humans with them. Except maybe at extreme range. Total overkill.

No, they usually use guns like the Barret to take out things like small trucks!

For some reason that always struck me as really cool. Brings out the 12yo in me. Of course, just being awake tends to do that too.

    • Philly says:

Or any LOL ever where people add anything to the post other than boasting about how funny they thought it was. Like, for example, an off-topic post about how much one hates off-topic posts. Ouroborus called and he wants his reasoning back. = )

    • Jojo says:

Because some people, like myself, love weapons. Weapons of all shapes and sizes. I love long range rifles even more. Stop hating on others because you don’t know what kind of weapons are featured in the picture.

  14. Erm says:

A friend of mine has that slogan on a bumper sticker on his truck.

  15. BreenLolz says:

Dont’ run – you’ll only die tired … AND SHOT IN THE BACK

  16. Dexaan says:

    OMG hax!

  17. blakyoshi7 says:

    A machine gun… with a scope.

    Make up your mind, guys.

    • Amateur Weapons Expert says:

5-10 round semi-automatic rifle. Not a machine gun.

    • The Steve says:

      Assumption fail.

    • Mister`Wolfe says:

machine guns DO use optics though, wouldn’t you rather I was more accurate at 600m+ with my machine gun with my MGO or just use a whole 200 round belt to try and take out a target and cause who knows what kind of collateral damage as well?

It’s people like you that make it difficult for the military to get the equipment we need because you don’t see the “need” for us to be more efficient. *sheesh*

      • Amateur Weapons Expert says:

Actually an LMG with a scope is frickin awesome. Laying down firepower at a distance can scare people into submission. Be even better if we could somehow get a LMG in .30-06 or, even better, something akin to 10×40mm…

    • Jojo says:

Machine Gun is a very specific term, and even if this was an assault rifle (which it has the appearance at first glance) there is a huge difference between machine gun and assault rifle.

Machine guns are usually belt fed but they don’t need to be. Assault rifles are never belt fed (unless there is some amazing assault rifle I don’t know about).

Anyways, even someone who is not very familiar with weapons should know this is a sniper rifle. The elongated barrel and the scope are dead give-aways.

Then again, to answer your comment specifically, machine guns can have scopes. I don’t see the need for one, as machine guns are usually used for suppressive fire and not sharpshooting.

    • PortlandMark says:

      [link]

.50 cal Barret. Not a machine gun.

  18. Fnubian says:

If I remember correctly it was the South Armagh Sniper that gave this one some of its fame.

  19. Lindsey says:

All of you are saying a actor or show or whatever but I remember this quote best in a video game called “Sacred Gold”. It was something your character would say as they are running to kill a fleeing enemy. Anyone else remember this?

  20. alleee says:

“Don’t run! You’ll only die tired!”

    …especially if you’re a little girl.

  21. Cowpie says:

lol, too many big words in some of the posts :P

still, if we were going to have a presence there, why not take over?

    • Jojo says:

I’m assuming you mean Iraq. In response, we have had a presence in Japan for 55+ years, and we have not “taken over”. People don’t understand something very important about the war in Iraq. We will always have soldiers there. We won’t leave that country probably ever again. Not to say that an occupational force will be there. Probably just a few bases a lot like our base in Okinawa, Japan.

  22. CAW4 says:

Well the M82A1/M107 is an anti-material weapon, and use against human targets is prohibited, so it’s more “Don’t Drive, you’ll just have a less gas when a well placed shot disables the vehicle”
It just doesn’t have that same ring to it…

    • PortlandMark says:

      [link]

      PK ate my last post

Here’s a video (NSFW, not appropriate for kids) of a .50 cal being used to destroy helmets and uniforms… while they are in use.

    • Jojo says:

Incorrect. It “can” be used as anti-material but its primary use is anti personnel. Get your facts straight.

  23. Jason says:

This actually isn’t funny at all.

  24. WilliamCA says:

Man i love captions like this. It is soooo true.

  25. lolwutretard says:

So like, this hasn’t been on T-shirts since the 80’s. Nah.
