  1. HairySexyTroll says:

This must be a veiled reference to a Sci-Fi program.

I preferred the “hamster on a wheel” reference, personally.

    • Ditto, Diss’s was way more fun because you didn’t have to get a Scifi reference to understand it.

    • bad fairie says:

Stargate actually….. first a movie with kurt russell as the main character, then two series, sg-1 with richard dean anderson (ran for 10 seasons) and sg-atlantis which i beleive is still in production

      • HairySexyTroll says:

Uhhhmmmm…sarcasm attempt fail on my part, it seems.
        Asi es la vida.

      • anonymous says:

sg-atlantis is no longer in production, i think. Something about the writers strike… :(

      • sunny says:

Big SG fan here. I got the SG reference. Nicely done!!!

Atlantis has been cancelled. SG Universe (the 3rd series) is in production and will be airing sometime in the fall (I think)

        • Mori says:

          KREE!

        • bad fairie says:

i’m sorry atlantis is gone, i didn’t get the last season, but the first ones were interesting. and since there’s a 3rd series starting makes me wish i had tv still. darn it.

          • Karen says:

For this same reason, I believe this is why God created Netflix. ;-) I’ve decided it’s worth waiting 6 months or so to not have to watch commercials.

            • bad fairie says:

lol, i’m too cheap for that even, i haunt our library system – they don’t get series dvds very often, but do carry many movies. now all i need is a dvd burner and an unlimited supply of blanks

        • paws4thot says:

You guys are going to hate us Brits; Universe is already airing over here!! :D

        • Lurky McLurkerson says:

Actually, Stargate Atlantis wasn’t cancelled, it was just ended (a bit clunkily, IMHO) so that the writers could concentrate of Stargate: Universe. Pissed off a lot of people because essentially Atlantis was ended and Universe created because the Powers That Be for the show decided they wanted a younger audience. So, you know: saying they’re tired of the older fans that have been watching for years and wanting that younger, edgier crowd who has no interest in the Stargate Franchise… typical Hollywood.

      • Jane St.Clair says:

As much as I love all things Richard Dean Anderson (as evidenced by my passionate but outnumbered debate declaring Macgyver to be a better program than Quantum Leap to a room full of haters last night) I think I liked the show better when Ben Browder joined.

        • I remember liking both shows. I did feel that Sam slept with too many of the women he encountered with the temporary amnesia as an excuse…

        • paws4thot says:

You ae so right about MacGyver being a better show than QL!

Not so convinced about SG1 being improved by Ben Browder, although it did improve then. I think that was mostly by more or less getting rid of the fairly discredited Goa’uld threat, and adding Claudia Black’s Vala was a good move. (yes, straight male view)

          • Jane St.Clair says:

Oh well, my viewpoint was the straight female one that thought Ben Browder was Teh Hawt on Farscape.

            • DocFan says:

…Ditto on that, Jane. Leather pants FTW.

              • paws4thot says:

I’ll give you both that Ben was the hot male on Farscape (but look at his competition; unless you go for actually evil, in which case maybe Lani Tupu…). I never thought that Claudia was as hot as Virginia Hey or Tammy MacIntosh though.

      • blargmanus says:

Actually, SGA ended in January. A new series Stargate: Universe is supposed to start up in October on SciFi

      • stephen says:

atlantis only had five seasons. its been cancelled!

      • leftieswillrule says:

Atlantis finished late in 2008 but the Atlantis movie will come out later this year i believe

      • Aran says:

As far as i know they’re ending Atlantis (epic Stargate fan) but the Stargate SG-1 was better. They also made two movies after the series ended, because they’re just THAT cool. This made me and my nerd family laugh. Dorkness FTW.

  2. AC says:

    ^Someone can’t spell “comments.”
    Sounds like Smeagol: precioussssss…

  3. slowboat407 says:

The quest for a universe where his policies actually make sense.

  4. duchess says:

    awesome!!!!!! RA

  5. ... says:

Not a fan of that show, but this is still pretty funny.

  6. Eric-in-STL says:

I’m actually kinda happy to see an Obama LOL up today because he was in our town today. And I don’t just mean “in the St. Louis area.” I mean he was at the high school in my kids’ school district in the next town over, backing up traffic a mere 5 miles away from my house. LOL So that was kinda cool.

    • HellHathNoFury says:

Isn’t it strange how attitude changes when it’s someone awesome backing up traffic? ‘*&^%(#@! construction workers and their *&%#&(&^%% projects in the middle of rush-hour!’
      ‘Um, it’s Obama’
“Well in that case, yay Obama for backing up traffic!’

      • Eric-in-STL says:

Don’t get me wrong, if he was backing up traffic keeping me from work, then he would’ve been “f***ing Obama causing a f***ing traffic jam.” But fortunately, I didn’t have to deal with that.

        • Perspective wins again!

        • HellHathNoFury says:

          Best lateness excuse evar!
*waits for ‘my fish was bigger’ work excuses*

          • Eric-in-STL says:

Great, the one time I’m on time for work and I would’ve actually had a good excuse.

          • slan agat says:

You know…the time or two I’ve had a “mine was bigger” work excuse, it had nothing to do with fish.

            Just sayin’.

          • Teaspoon says:

My brother called his boss one morning saying he’d be a bit late because they were “having trouble finding somewhere to park the balloon”.

He’d taken his wife for a dawn hot air balloon ride over Melbourne as an anniversary or birthday surprise; he doesn’t NORMALLY catch a balloon to work.

  7. Adam B says:

YES! finally one of my captions made it through. Its a little annoyin that my name didn’t show up.
Sorry guys i knew a lot of people wouldn’t get it but it was meant for sci-fi fans.

  8. cTo says:

    LOOL, id sign up

  9. PortlandMark says:

I’m glad this didn’t end up being an “Obama/Halo/Chosen One” lol.

    • bad fairie says:

no kidding – as a non-xian, i get so tired of the messiah cr@p that the right started. i voted for him and if he runs against another pair like the last time, i’ll vote for him again. but, like i used to tell my ex – until he walks on water, he’s just another smeghead.

      • Dhoti says:

The right started the messiah crap? LOL!

Clearly, you haven’t set foot inside an urban Walgreens since the election, white bread.

        • The Steve says:

Are you referring to businesses taking advantage of a market opportunity to profit from selling merchandise with the image of a popular public figure printed on them?

Since when does the fact that his image sells merchandise mean that people view him as a messiah?

Look in that same isle at all of the American-Idol t-shirts. Now look for a Jesus t-shirt.

Merchandise marketing does not make one a messiah, nor does it mean that those who purchase the merchandise think he’s a messiah. It means he’s popular and people want to buy t-shirts. It’s called capitalism.

          • Dhoti says:

Please, tell me where this awesome Walgreens is — I would love to buy a Jesus trucker hat, Obama shirt, and American Idol sweatpants, all in the same aisle.

            • The Steve says:

That is exactly my point, but it went over your head.

There is no such Walgreens. They don’t sell Jesus T-shirts at Walgreens, even though he IS considered to be the messiah by many.

You WILL find American-Idol and Obama t-shirts, because they are pop culture icons, not because anyone thinks they are the messiah.

You pointed at Walgreens merchandise as proof that people think Obama is the messiah, and then in the next breath you say Walgreens doesn’t carry Jesus merchandise.

    • Eric-in-STL says:

Obama plays Halo? I love that game!

  10. clamboy says:

You wanna be geeky? Here goes: when I saw this picture, the first caption that went through my mind was, “Engrossed in an important address on the economy, the president failed to notice the sandworm creeping up on him.”

  11. dbo says:

    Funny fail

  12. Czernobog says:

Is he doing the robot in celebration?

  13. Kris says:

If our species actually did get a Stargate, would it be so good? I mean, look at our track record so far viz colonisation, predatory trade, ecological vandalism. And that’s if WE were technologically superior. What we turned out to be the Iraq of the galaxy?

  14. The Steve says:

    Oh, hell yes!

Sweet, sweet, moon-cheese here we come!

  15. Ahmed says:

    It’s about time.

  16. Chappa'ai says:

    Heh!

1st Obama reference I’ve seen here that I like.

  17. slaggingham says:

    It’s so obvious now!

So the only remaining question is…

    Is he Goa’uld, or Ori?

  18. dwsharp says:

Haha! I love the Stargate reference :D

  19. RC Cola says:

    I love Stargate. But, really?

  20. Mike says:

there was a government program named stargate
