Sadly, flattery will not get you out of flawed logic. Economies need to be goverened in a responsive fashion, not based on first principles. Sometimes you NEED big government and tax-and-spend, and sometimes they’re a horrible mistake. It’s all about context, as anyone who’s glanced at an economics textbook can tell you.
Bureacracy is a necessary evil. You have to have some, but you want as little as you can get away with.

Don’t worry, Steve: The rest of us understood what you meant, and you’re right.

Marketing was strong in the titling of that bill/law, which made it easier to glaze over in the offing. The average person with an hour or less time in the day for news would support “The Patriot Act” for its title alone.

Still, I would suspect that the worst of what remains will be slowly chipped away in the next few years. It may be one of those acts that, while still on the books for a while, may not be utilized.

In an ironic twist, the proponents of such strong central power may be much less stalwart in their support, now that the “other” party is at the helm.

Anniee as usual you’ve taken what I’ve said and completely misinterpreted it for the purpose of spewing a nonsensical reply. You should try reading comprehension. I didn’t say that the Patriot Act as it stands now is tyrannical, I was simply saying that because of it’s current name people who don’t know what the bill entails simply assume it to be a positive thing that any patriot should support. I simply used the name Tyranny Act as an over the top example to help illustrate my point. Obviously I should have used Crayola instead.

Here’s the corresponding definition from Wikipedia: “Bigot is often used as a pejorative term to describe a person who is obstinately devoted to prejudices, especially when these views are either challenged, or proven to be false or not universally applicable or acceptable.”

I get your plight froo, really I do. I wish we had more sane conservatives here too, but you may have to give her up as a lost cause. Her debating style is the equivalent of yelling “FIRE!” in a crowded room and then trying to get out before the stampede. She spews insults, demonizes large groups of people because of their political leanings, and when called on it responds with, “well I didn’t want to talk to you people anyway”. Despite all that she keeps coming back for more and more. I swear, she must be TONN’s long lost twin sister.
