I found it repulsively hysterical, myself, and if you haven’t seen the film it’s worth a look for the diverse group of comedians portrayed.

A little bit unfortunate that Archbishop Tutu is one of the least dogmatic senior churchmen around. If you wanted a good example of how Christians *ought* to be, rather then how many are, Tutu would come near the top of the pile.

Tutu actually spoke at my college graduation in ‘91… it was unfortunate that the accoustics weere so bad, and his accent so heavy, and us so drunk, that it wound up sounding like Charlie Brown’s Teacher…I’m sure it was an inspiring speech…

Desi is one of the LEAST dogmatic followers of an Abrahamic religion I know of. I doubt he would be offended by this. The lol is simply unfunny, not offensive. It takes an unfunny cliche and applies it to a situation where it doesn’t make sense. I mean, it SOUNDS kinda funny, but when you stop to think about it, what is it really saying? What is karma? A kind of cosmic balance sheet? The sum total of our moral judgments of reality? What is dogma? A strong belief? A moral doctrine? Does the joke even make sense if you think about the meanings, or is it only funny because (hur, hur) karma sounds like car and dogma sounds like dog? The only funny thing about this LOL is that the Dalai Lama is among the MOST dogmatic Buddhists. In his philosophy, he is the unelected and supreme leader of his people. Tibetan Buddhism is dogmatic Buddhism, really more a collection of animistic, magical, and very hierarchical beliefs with a thin veneer of Buddhism. But that funny is obviously unintentional. Lastly, the facial expressions of both men just do not fit the caption, and suggest many other approaches to funny, like the Unc’s aristocrats joke.
