The issue with her question was one that I admitted to having as a peeve which I then called tolerance fail on myself. So you absolutely right, unfortunately I am rather defensive. I could blame parenting since I was always guilty before innocent but that is nobody’s fault other than my mother’s… The problem is that I will remain defensive because I am a paranoid twit.

@pdq: Lifestyle is more about the M/s dynamic. M/s or even D/s isn’t necessary for S&M play. M/s being Master/slave and D/s being Dominant/submissive. Lynn likes to be flogged, spanked, and bitten as well as a few other things but it isn’t necessary that I be in some position of authority for that. Just requires trust. Bondage is pretty much the same way.

I’ve found that a lot of people are into some form of S&M, especially in the lower intensities.

DWN, I think you are reading things into Rho’s questions (mainly the initial question) and comments that really aren’t there, e.g. “huge ego” etc. All she said was “how do you do that without an ego?” Not at all the same thing, implication being that you’d maybe need a normal-sized ego? At least that’s what I got.

And regarding the other, DWN, given the number of socks we’ve had lately, I think that was an honest mistake rather than a personal attack.

On the other hand, Rho, I don’t really see where (at least in this threadd) DWN is being “braggy” but more that he’s both trying to explain what he’s talking about and being maybe somewhat defensive.

Hell, I learned about ginger from my mentor and that was because he was telling us about it in the thread. So I got more information out of him and then shared it here. I rather enjoyed the results and am glad to have helped in my own small way.

So yes, you giving me something to defend against is offensive. Again, your ignorance and assumption was where I was insulted. Your question was pointed especially with the little “” added in with the term Master. Oddly enough that is a tolerance fail on me because I came into the thread on Gaia with the same know-it-all pretentious attitude and was arguing with them for days before I actually understood what the relationship was like. So whatever, I will give the straight answer you asked for.

How do I reconcile it? By the fact that I am a Master/Dom/whatever by request. It isn’t something I insisted on or asked for. Those who have served me asked me to take care of things, which is a lot of pressure but makes them happy. I don’t insist on anything from Lynn. I work hard because it makes her happy and helps me get that tiny damn morale boost that I otherwise lack as a self loathing jackass. Even those that ask for it bust their ass and go through tons of self doubt with their decisions.
