I hope that’s not going to happen, I may prefer Barnes & Noble to Borders, but I live in such a small city that there are no bookstore like those nearby, in fact we have to drive 45 min. to get to the nearest Borders. If that store were to close I don’t what I would do.

First note: all the oil we can drill from US territory would barely lower the
cost of a barrel of oil by a dollar….by 2020. In meantime we get to enjoy
the oil derricks near Delicate Arch by abt 2012. *sob*

Second note: what IS this poor li’l lady doing at Santacon?

Third note: We could save oceans of oil & cruiseships full of coal if we
covered every parking lot in the country with solar panels like they’re
stg to do at CalTech & Cal State Northridge. (My car would stay cool!)

My second job is at Borders. We’re what’s known as a second tier company (so says my supervisor anyway) that is we’re second to Barnes and Noble the way Circuit City is second to Best Buy. So when times are tough, we’re hit harder. I wouldn’t be surprised if Borders declared bankruptcy after Christmas. I also wouldn’t be surprised if our store is one of the first to close.

Oh-ho-ho yeah. We’re running out of them faster than the company can send more. Actually, they’re not new–they just lowered the prices on a bunch of the old ones. But it’s only til they sell through, so if you want them, come get them before the end of the year! I know what everyone I know is getting for Christmas this year, by the way…I make custom bears for my friends and family.

I heard on NPR that B-a-B had actually rolled out a decent selection of smaller, less expensive bears in the hope of mitigating the hit from a down market – I do recall full size bears were a bit pricey. Are the new $10 bears moving?

Winter can be good, (Hallowe’en, Guy Fawkes night, Christmas, Hogmany (or Up-Helly-Aa if you’re from Shetland)) but all the festivals are just there to cheer up everyone who’s depressed because of seeing the sun rise at 9pm and set at 4pm.

If you think that the only thing we need oil for is gasoline, you’re sadly mistaken. Everyone driving electric cars won’t stop our need for oil, foreign and domestic. The only way to lower gas prices, create millions of jobs, and stimulate the economy (oil related, that is), is to let us drill in our own oil fields. Otherwise, we’ll be at the mercy of foreign overlords. OPEC is basically a terrorist cartell holding oil for ransom.
