O.o ummm k…noobie here. What is with Seth and garden hoses? Or dare I ask?
A few lols back, someone was arguing with Seth, and one of our regulars (was it Jane, maybe?) told the other guy not to get into a pissing contest with someone holding a garden hose had a garden hose. I think she also said, “If Seth calls you retarded, he’ll have so much evidence you’ll be ready to go out and buy the helmet yourself,” or something to that effect. Amazing images, really.

No, don’t misunderstand. It’s ok to debate with Seth, it can actually be quite rewarding in the end. You just better make damn sure you have ALL of your facts in order and can provided lot’s of citations. Otherwise, you will end up as a big smoking hole when he’s finished. Also, a word of caution, pick your battles wisely.
True, there have been a few times where I’ve had some good points on him but for the most part when it comes to cold hard facts he’s usually got you beat. I do enjoy getting into it with him though since he is very civil and nice if you ask him to be.

That was a Greenpeache demo a few weeks ago, in Berlin, protesting against the state subsidies for German car factories. “No tax money for climate killers” and “Building fuel-efficient cars is mere child’s play”, along those lines.

On a related note, has anyone played the Nintendo DS/Wii game Cooking Mama? Well, PETA got angry about it recently (even though the game’s been out a few years now and has a sequel, even) and made a bizarre, bloody version for Thanksgiving. I mean, I’m a treehugger myself, but that game’s scary. *shiver*

I’m all for people eating less meat, but dammit if PETA doesn’t always take it too far and set the entire movement back. SETTLE, PETA.
I wish they would just stick with factory farming issues and making living conditions a little more humane for those animals.
Oh indeed… I’m no herbivore, but I source my meat only if it’s local and free range, and not doped up with Estrogen, growth hormone and antibiotics…
Some of the places are more like the Island of Doctor Moreau than farms…
“Free range” doesn’t always mean the cows are wandering in open fields. It just is more likely they are stuck in a large pen shoulder-to-shoulder out in the open. Check it out on the innerwebs or your local Texas panhandle. It’s gross and smelly.
I think they could also promote meatless options like beans and tofu and whatnot. Or they could figure out how to grow meat in vats, heh.
PETA’s actually offering a million dollar prize for that, no kidding.
as lovely as that is…i’m not entirely sure i’d eat it. that’s one of those things that seems unnatural enough to make you incredibly sick. It’s funny after moving to Montana, where it’s so much easier to buy organic, well cared for, not doped up animal meat (they sell it in the mall for goodness sake), I can’t eat fast food without getting violently ill a few moments later.
I’m with Fester. I’m not going to pretend I’m a herbivore. If i know where it’s coming from, the animals have had good lives, and they arn’t over farming then I’m perfectly fine eating meat.
Where I live, this place is surrounded by “free range” cow farms where the cows are stuck shoulder to shoulder with their own waste up to their knees. I chose to go Veggie for numerous reasons, one of which is that it’s a crapload cheaper and the whole, “animals living good lives” thing is unheard of on this side of NM. Otherwise, if it was cheap and ethical, I probably wouldn’t mind it. You just can’t substitute good cheese, you know?

I own Cooking Mama and I recently played the PETA version (even watched the video at the end). In my personal opinion I prefered the PETA one. I’m meaner than Mama I guess.

I played it as well as the PETA version, which was extremely stupid… The PETA, at the core, seem like a bunch of very picky eaters, when it comes to silly things like this. What an exercise in uselessness.

Coming from a Vegetarian, PETA is nothing but effing psychos that will go to any extreme to make their point. Look up Mercy for Animals. They actually, I dunno, provide references to their claims and facts, rather than blowing up the truth.
BTW, PETA is against pets, or “domestic slaves”, so if you’re a member and have Fido still, I think that makes you a hypocrite in their eyes.
