Remember people, they are the party of tolerance.
They stand for unity*
*unless its from their own party
Who, specifically, are you refering to?
People always talk about “them”.
He’s talking about zer Demokratten. Dissent from the Republicans, they love you. Dissent from THEM, and you are the ENEMY and must die, die, DIE!!!
So just like the fundies feel about Colin Powell.
Not really…Colin Powell just wants to be liked, so he decided to jump the shark. Whatever…I just expected better.
Because the speech he gave about his reasons for his decision was just a pack of lies for a popularity contest? You fail.
“Jump the shark”
Proper use of topical phrase: FAIL
Jump the ship?
And how is this different from any other political party in the entire freaking world?
I think the most amusing thing is, except for national defense, Lieberman leans pretty far to the left. He’s a Republican the same way Al Franken is funny-only if you lean so far left you wonder why the ground is vertical.
That doesn’t make any sense. Obama himself has said that he harbors no grudges against Lieberman, and the Democrat party has not attempted to dismiss him from the caucus even though he actively supported the Republican presidential candidate. Where does the “Die, die, die” come in?
“Them” is a form of “That One.”
Them! The people who run the world! The Illuminati! It’s a conspiracy!
They LIVE!
I thought I had changed my name there…
It’s all forgives with the Dems: Obama has already indicated that he wants Joe to stay, complete with his committee creds.
Trouble is Obama isn’t head of the party or head of the Senate. That decision is Harry Reids who wanted to demote Lieberman to a lesser committee.
Sad when following your convictions lands you in trouble in that way.
The Republicans would do the same if say Chuck Hagel gave a convention speech to the DNC but that doesn’t make Reid any less of a slimeball.
No… but he gets to appoint the head of the Democratic party… and that person has a LOT of influence in party dealings. So, unless the rest of the party is completely unified against the idea, he will probably get his way.
The tv pundits I’ve heard are all saying it’s likely the Senate/Party people will do as Obama indicated.
But if a Republican goes democrat, well he’s a good guy.
Thank you for echoing what I’ve been saying.
in bed.
I’ll get the ‘Alien’
I’ll get the Barbie dolls and the talcum powder.
That’s… a disturbing mental picture. You owe me a gallon of mind bleach.
No, see, that’s the difference between Democrats and Republicans. We’re willing to actually discuss and debate issues, and criticize our own when it’s appropriate. We don’t just BAAAAA and move in a pack. The tolerance part comes from accepting others no matter their race, beliefs, sexual orientation, etc. It’s called being open-minded.
Pundit Kitchen – Full of LOLiberals
Constructive Input…. you’re doing it wrong.
If you mean to imply that he is in the Democratic Party, FAIL! He is an “Independent”. And he is a traitor to the people who voted for him. He will be gone soon. He is lucky his name was not on the ballet this year.
Nobody loves Joe now. WTF was he thinking? He’d come out of the Gore-y mess of that election smelling like a rose.
Political instincts: FAIL.
He messed up plenty, but Obama has sent signals that all is forgiven, and the Senate is expected to follow suit, including lettin Joe keep his committee positions. How lucky can a MAVERICK get???
Plus Connecticut DID re-elect him after he switched to “independent”.
He won by co-opting nearly the entire Republican vote – the ‘real’ GOP candidate got under 5% – and by talking out his bunghole about his position on the war and about his unequivocal support for electing a Democratic president in ‘08.
If Lieberman had been honest, we’d all be talking about how Sen. Ned Lamont was on somebody’s cabinet appointment short list.
Not about instinct
Joe did what he thought was right
Damn the consequence
I didn’t agree
And clearly you don’t either
But…integrity!
Exactly, Joe endorsed the candidate he felt would be the better choice, Partisanship be damned.
Thank you!
What you call integrity, many others call being a sycophant. He’s the political version of a remora. He is the unpopular kid who changes his loyalty, depending on which group he perceives as the most popular.
To put it in simple terms, he’s like the booger you finally got out of your nose, but you can’t flick off no matter how hard you try.
Have you lost your mind? You say he picked the more POPULAR candidate and support McCain over Obama???
FAIL. Miserably.
Key word being “perceives”.
and this is different from any other politician in Christendom how?
I love how you Brits say neat-o words like “Christendom.” Do you have a monocle? (Not trying to stereotype, just cooking up mental images in deviant mind.)
Yes, because Joe Lieberman is so conservative.
Pro-Choice.
Opposed Bush on shorting the NLCB budget.
Against drilling in ANWR.
Supports state choice on gay marriage.
Anti-2nd Amendment
Anti-Torture
The list goes on and on. Just about the only thing he agrees with the Republicans on is the war on terror.
Granted but look who he ended up supporting and what they were for… Not really arguing, just stating.
He, like most other Americans, decided to choose the candidate that supported his top priority, at the cost of many of his other beliefs. I know a lot of people who voted Obama despite the fact they don’t agree with virtually any of his views, but because they felt he’d end the Iraq quagmire the fastest.
When you only have two choices, and you have to choose which of your beliefs you want a candidate fighting for, it’s pretty tough. Almost always we are forced to vote for someone who disagrees with us on many things, so that they can get in office and fight for the things we DO agree on.
The sad part here is that we didn’t only have two choices, unfortunately it only came down to two choices.
He’s the only Democrat who knows that “RUN AWAY!!!” is only a valid battle strategy in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
I totally disagree, but that was really funny!
Now you have me yearning for some shrubbery!
Running away is
Temporary, then fetch the
Holy handgrenade
1…2…5!!!!!
Three, sir.
Three shall be the number of thy counting.
Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out.
So close and yet so far. The war is not the only thing the Man of Lieber has been on the wrong side of.
He supported privatizing Social Security.
He supported media censorship.
Most damningly, he’s been among the foremost supporters of the Bush-Cheney expansion of executive powers, including domestic spying, resisting Congressional oversight and, yes, “harsh interrogations.”
Obama wants to keep him in the party? Fine. But Homeland Security is an effing *dangerous* committee for him to chair. And anyway, you can damn well bet we in Connecticut won’t forgive him next election cycle.
Is Joe coming back up in 2010?
No, alas, we have to wait for oh-12 to retire the bugger.
He may redeem himself, in that time. American memories are short. Wait, who were we talking about again?
I for one intend to remind anyone who’ll sit still how he was Bush’s jailhouse whore, and how Bush sold him to McCain for a crusty skin mag and a pack of smokes.
But I’m not bitter.
Hey wait, I just had a thought (ouch): What if Joe is deal-making in the background, seeing if the Republicans will give him some sweet deal or other to caucus with them? Ted Stevens’ status is unknown, so Joe’s value just went up, right? I know everyone is saying Joe is doing everything for himself, so this idea would be consistent with that applied characteristic, yes?
It would be VERY consistent. Lieberman is for Lieberman, full stop.
And the latest word from CNN is Begich is ahead of Stevens, with nearly all the votes still uncounted coming from greater Anchorage.
And Begich is *still* ahead of Stevens! If Joe caucuses with the Dems and Begich wins, the Dems will only need one more (of the two remaining) for the big 6-0!!! *crosses fingers*
Are you sure you’ve got the count right? I thought the Dems had to run the table, Begich, Franken and Martin to get there.
I may have misunderstood, but someone onMSNBC (I think Rachel Maddow) made that statement. Much depends upon Mr. Doghouse, either way.
I really hope not. I for one won’t hesitate to remind people how he was Bush’s jailhouse wh*re for homeland security and the war, and how Bush sold him to McCain for a crusty old skin mag and a pack of smokes.
But I’m not bitter.
Well damn, why didn’t the comment show up when I entered it the first time? I figured it got zortched for word choice or summat….
I’m pretty sure that when you post certain words, it sits in limbo until whomever moderates such things gives it a yea or nay.
Yeah, same thing happened to me with the b-it-ch word.
By then (2012), Leiberman’s silly little misdirection (poor dear) will be old news, and you’ll be arrested for being that crazy dude on the street corner who shouts at people about the end being near. But I could be off.
Will you come visit me and bring me a peach cobbler with a file in it?
(…in bed?)
Well, ya did say “full stop” earlier, so sure.
Bloody ‘ell, if I’d known that’s all it took I’d have said it earlier still.
Oh, no you didn’t just say Bloody ‘ell! Now I’m getting the vapors! *swoons*
That’s okay, the Obama supporters are in favor of media censorship, too. Just different media.
I’m an Obama supporter in favor of censoring this comment.
My name is Eric-in-STL, and I approve this message.
How do you figure? Sources?
Man of Lieber, heh.
Is it OK to dislike him because he’s an opportunist twit?
Is it okay to dislike him because his neck looks like a vagina?
Oh thanks! Now I can never see him again without looking for a va-jay-jay over his tie.
Yes, dislike at will. Carry on.
How much loyalty to a party can you expect from a senator who in the last election had a primary challenger endorsed by his own party… and who forced him, in essence, to run as an independent? Lieberman isn’t even a democrat anymore. He is INDEPENDENT!!
Sheesh! Talk about a low memory threshhold!
1 – They’re called primaries. Lieberman lost his and got pissed. That’s what happens when you don’t vote in every election. He lost the democratic primary, got pissed, became an independent an won. If people that voted for him for Senate had gotten out and voted in the primary for him, he wouldn’t be an Independent right now.
2 – He caucuses with the Democrats in Senate (for now), so even though he’s an Independent, you can still call him a Democrat (for now). Remember the whole argument about Obama and his “radical ties?” You’re known for those with whom you associate — or something like that? Lieberman associates with the Democrats in Senate (for now).
He RAN as an Independent…how does he get to caucus with Democrats if he’s not one of them.
Talk about no memory.
He caucuses with Democrats, truly.
He’s the one holding up the ‘Democrats for McCain’ sign. I guess he calls himself a Democrat.
He’s the one holding up the ‘Democrats for McCain’ sign. I guess he calls himself a Democrat.
Trying too hard for an acronym. Doing it right.
LOL!
It isn’t so much that Lieberman has jumped from party to party it’s that he has done it for one and only one reason: Joe Lieberman.
Better than being a partisan bought-and-paid-for shill.
Isn’t he supposed to be an elected official which would make him a servant of the people? How many people can be Joe Lieberman?
It could be many! Ever see the movie “Being John Malkovich”?
That was weird.
In a perverse cross between Spartacus and V for Vendetta?
I AM JOE THE SENATOR!
Okay, I’ll bite: Which party?
I’d have to say that the acronym pictured here is a lot better than any I could have come up with for, “Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller: Staying Democrats just to be a pain in the ass”.
That’s got some win to it, that has.
BWAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!
WIN!
“It’s me — Zoidberg! I broke your party!”
Lol! Zoidy FTW!
Whoever the douche is who posted this, this guy votes Democrat 90% of the time.So i guess we just all play pretend?
Facts and truth are unimportant to most people here. Its easier to just parrot what someone else has told them.
That’s probably the point. If he voted Democrat 90% of the time, what the heck is he doing voting for McCane (pun intended)?
Pun not funny.
Is too.
Nuh-uhhhh! Pttbbtht!
Two to one, you lose! pffffft
Three to one!! Pfbfbfbfttt! (Dunno which side I’m really on, but I’m in it for the drama.)
Oh God, now you did. You have caused a tear in the time space continuum by siding with two Republicans (although Phaelin may be an Indie, but I don’t remember)!

RUN!
Ohhhh noooooes! I’ve turned coat, jumped ship, and otherwise neglected all that I, until reading your post, held dear to my heart. Now that my frivilous post has cost me my party affiliation, I’ll need to make a list of things to change:
1. Obama yard sign, “Got Hope?” shirt and neato-big-rubberbandy bracelet to trash…and no checking for recycle numbers, because that’s something those commie-pinkos try to make us do.
2. Lose the pets: Hey, handout freaks, your gig is up!
3. Get conformist haircut and gain 30 pounds: need to look more “unmoveable.”
4. Cancel volunteer activities: See #2.
5. Start tailgating: That will help me get in touch with the “my-way-or-the-highway” attitude.
6. Judge others: The grocery store will be a great setting. It’s easy to look down your nose at other people’s purchases, right? Until I get the hang of it, I’ll just act like that pimply, skinny kid at the video store.
7. Join fundamentalist church: Nothing feels holier-than-though than holier-than-thou!
8. Lose minority friends: They’re nice, but you’re known by your associations!
9. Get C&W radio station bumper sticker and fish-thingy for the car: S/E.
10. Make a list of those to whom I now feel superior.
.
Ahhhh–the easy life!
Oh SHIDIBITZ! I just re-read above, and realized I used the word “change!” This turning-GOPer is harder than it looks!
I liked him better when he played the Dad on ALF.
Loserman is a whiny turncoat who deserves to be thrown to the wolves. Obama is playing the bigger man because he is. Lieberman should be stripped of his committees and be publicly paddle whipped by Pelosi.
Pelosi is more of a threat to the Democratic party than Lieberman is IMHO.
Publicly paddled by Pelosi? RRRAWR!
Alliteration
It isn’t just puppy chow
It’s also wordplay
It would have been better it they’d purred right there, instead of roaring.
Penny Pingleton is Permanently Punished by Pelosi.
insert “ping-pong paddle,” FTW
Can we insert it into Pelosi’s mouth?
Now Eddie, you know you want her…stop pretending!
On no, no, no, not even with DWN’s bits..
Your protests ring hollow; your pleas are too desperate!
*sigh*
-
Ever thought of going into psychiatry?
You’re just jealous of Rahm in that other pic….
0-o that sounds awufully like…
David Spade–FTW!!
So totally did not need that image in my head thanks! Some body give me a spoon to dig it out please?
She was wearing the leather Basque for you too huh?
Ouch! You must now contribute to my Therapy Jar. (Uncle Fester is a bad, bad boy!)
No room in the “democratic” party for any dissent is there?
That is very “democratic” of them but wait … we might need his vote sometime so … ah hell fugedaboudit.
Dissent is one thing. Going to play for the other team, apparently with more heart and soul than he gave to his own, is quite another. Even then it could have been ok if he hadn’t also bad-mouthed the quarter back while he was at it.
Also, frankly, Lieberman has been ineffective as the committee chair. He would need to go even if he hadn’t campaigned for McCain and slandered Obama.
heh it’s amusing.
I haven’t heard someone toss around the term “RINO” in awhile. What’s up with that? Have conservatives really become that much of ass-kissers that they can’t even find traitors in their own party? Or maybe they just want to look strong and together since the Dems have been whipping their asses the past couple of years… Either way, find me a RINO to make fun of!
Wasn’t AHnold winning all the RINO awards recently?
Probably right – I often forget he’s a R considering the state he’s running. Then I remember – he could be running for a Child Pr0n party and they’d still elect him just because he is Ahnold.
Ive said it before, I have no love for Joe Lieberman since he pre-Gore sidekick days, but this photo and caption make me go “Eh…”
I dunno, I guess I dont like the guy, but for the love of god, cant we just mock him for being a little wonky and askew on certain issues? Instead of bullying him for picking a party?
weak ass acronym.
he votes with the democrats 99% of the time. the only exception is the war and thank god for that… the surge worked!
got to love people who do what they think is right instead of putting their party before county.
COUNTRY FIRST.
Which one?
I thought it was Country CLUBS First…
OK, so, well…let’s mock him for what he is…
Ach douche Lieber!
DEMOCRATS
Not as tolerant and accepting as advertised, actually.
Yeah, they’re contemplating the status of an old white guy, sorry bigots!
That should have been *the* sorry bigots. I guess your point is that Dems shouldn’t be allowed to select their own legislative alliances, because they tout diversity and inclusion. How exactly do those two concepts fit together?
Jesus. And this, right here is why GW (of ‘76) didn’t want political parties…this stupid infighting. We’re all AMERICANS. And we should want to put OUR COUNTRY FIRST, ahead of all others. Which means that other countries may have to take second on down (those on the left take note). Being on the top isn’t a bad thing–it should be the best thing…it means that we’ve worked hard to get where we are today, and we’ve earned it.
I’ll contemplate the stifling of diversity from Democrats as I’m still waiting for the Republican Muslim in Congress, or a GLBT person, or much else really.
Lieberman deserves scorn for POLITICAL views such as the war, which is still big though it’s as reported on as the lottery or missing children now.
This from the party that shut Mitt Romney, their most competent (but awful) P or VP candidate, out because he’s not the RIGHT Christian. With Romney they probably take Indiana and maybe Colorado.
I think Romney might have gotten Nevada, too.
NICE!
The only good thing about the 2000 election is he never became VP. Even still we would have been better off.
What do you guys mean ???
He’s got JOE – MENTUM !!!!!!
I’m guessing I’m one of the only republicans on this site with all the pro-Obama spam
Since when the Liberal Idiots who want to kick Lieberman and others out of office because they voted against healthcare get on here?
I’m charro and I approve this timely message.
