You can always tell the Religious Right by how wild the claims are and how much proof they have for them. Also, Picky, if your going to keep calling liberals Marxist, i'm going to start calling you a fundamentalist.

Hmm.... seems to me that during Bush's presidency, I remember: a horrible terrorist attack, de-unionization, a greater income gap, millions of dollars being dumped into an un-winnable war, a huge increase in unemployment, complete ignorance of environmental concerns, a massive decrease in world respect, and the complete and utter downturn of not only our, but the worlds economy.

Robert you're starting to sound like Rush Limbaugh (sorry I couldn't refrain from that insult). Explain exactly who illegally contributed to Obama's campaign, and most of all, how did Obama manage to commit massive voter fraud and win over 60% of the nations vote? I would think if he commited fraud he would have only won by a little, kinda like George Bush in 2000. As far as lies in ads, factcheck.org reported nearly equal numbers on each side.

Also, I find it rather racist that you say the black community voted for Obama because he "looks" like them. Like all of them? Obama doesn't look like any of my black friends, and I couldn't say John McCain looks like me, could you? So next time you feel like saying "all black people look alike", watch where you say it.

Most definitely, it is much healthier to question one's government. It is, also, however, necessary to vet the veracity of the source of those questions.

Once again, gross generalizing. How many of "them" have you spoken to recently?

Kenya is in fact predominantly Christian, and the majority of Muslims--all 6% of them--are in fact Arab and South Asian, and do not reside in the same region as Obama's father did. Obama's father in fact converted while he was in Zanzibar apparently. He also did not have a relationship with his father in his formative years on a par with his step father or grandparents.

I think that it's a smaller group than you think. There were three levels of paranoia here. One is an outgrowth of the economic climate and fear of terrorism that the McCain campaign tapped into. The second was the standard Cold War-era argument, while with third was the genuine racist element. The number of people ready to support the incoming president, I believe, are higher than the number of people that voted for him, particularly because the election for the most part went smoothly and the wide margin of victory. At this point, many of McCain's supporters are adopting a wait and see, success will benefit us approach, which is the most you can ask for after such a vigorous campaign.

Oh, for pete's sake, get a grip. If the Republican party had been the political organization most attractive to blacks, they'd have the lion's share of African American voters. They lost them way before WWI, considering that the EP was the only major legislation geared toward blacks that was enforced until after WWII. Had Nixon put through those civil rights initiatives, the Republican party would have gotten blacks as part of their base. The traditional southern Democrats splintered in the 1950s and 1960s--Strom Thurmond used to be a "Dixiecrat" before running for president under an independent party and finally became a Republican.

You are also grossly mistaken on how racism is defined in voting habits. Voting for someone because they are black is different than not voting for someone because they are white. Secondly, for Obama NOT to occasionally address race would have been impossible, simply because of the color of his skin...he would not have been able to avoid it. It is disingenuous to criticize him for doing so. Finally, if you presumptions were true, Jesse Jackson's two campaigns in the 1980s would have inspired more of a response among the African American population than it did.

I can certainly imagine the outcry, particularly given what was unleashed during the campaign, as well as the number of people that stated they were supporting Obama.

That's beyond insulting. Gross generalizations are ludicrous on both sides. The fact of the matter is that neither party for decades lifted a finger, so please stop th e nonsense.

That's just as empty of an argument as the one that stated that all Palin/McCain supporters are racist.

None of the official spots painted Obama in a racist light. However, the conflation of the official with the unofficial lines of attack are strong. McCain was in
a pretty hard position, I would say, because it's likely that he does not
have the less savory views as many of his voters, just as Obama does
not have the unenlightened ideas of many of his supporters.

Ultimately, it came down to which individual exercised more control over those
areas of his campaign.

C'mon, it is perfectly rational to not bring McCain in the way you're espousing, particularly because of the year-end election stuff going on in Georgia. Also, consider that it's not just about how Obama would want to appear, but how
McCain would want to be viewed by his supporters.

I was impressed with his concession speech, and I personally though I saw embarrassment and pain in his face at the response of people in the crowd, not to mention the obvious weariness. Public life at that level can't be that easy; imagine having to deal with problems among your supporters on top of it. It's harder to appear gracious in defeat when the people around you won't cooperate.

Destroy what economy?
Sorry couldn't resist.
Ayers and Obama served on a board together- and I believe (though I am not sure) that Ayers was chair. Have you ever tried to do something where you totally ignore the chair of a board?
I think there was some booing at the more intense times of the Obama campaign- assholes on both sides, seriously. But don't act like the GOP never said anything bad about Obama.
I think McCain showed INCREDIBLE class, and I think if he had been allowed to be more like that thruout, he might have won.

Nobody care's a "a Black man won office." Nobody gives a damn. They're pissed a Marxist socialist who hung out with Saul Alinsky types got elected. Good God I'm tired of hearing about racism. It's dead. There are still pockets out there, of course, but they've been marginalized and pushed to the fringes and have no power any longer.

While expanding Governmental and Executive Power on a scale previously unseen in US history, spying on his own citizenry while wrapping himself in the flag, handing out no-bid contracts to his cronies, and lying to get into a second war front that anyone with even a feeble grasp of history is a bad move, censoring the news such that they can't film coffins coming home from his Iraqi adventure and parlaying a Budget surplus into a massive deficit in a shade under 4 years...

Yeah, actually. "From those based on ability, to those based on need." And Obama's talking about taking money from 5% and giving it to 95%, so that goes beyond a progressive income tax. If Trotsky was alive, he'd be laughing at us for going down the road and not even realizing it.

I'm pretty sure distribution of wealth to people who "need" it more than those who actually earned it is one of the major tenets of Marxism. Of course, so is government control of banks, factories, and the like, so don't think I'm not pissed about that, too.

I believe I'll show Senator Obama every bit of respect the Democrats showed President Bush after his election.

No, I'm really a better person than that.

Suffered? Suffered? If by suffered, you mean growth of GDP, increase in median wage, decrease in unemployment, no terrorist attacks on US soil, more aid given to Africa than any President before him, then you have an odd definition of suffered.

Actually, they weren't, because the various supreme courts wouldn't overturn them. Really? Is that the best you people have? "Fox News Talking Points"? Gimme a break. More importantly, when voting starts a month early, you can register and vote the same day, and you will NEVER BE ABLE TO find those ballots again. When 110% of a city's registered population votes, that's fraud.

OK, I'll play-Obama using taxpayer funds to go help the genocidal African dictator Odinga strongarm his opponent into gaining power.

Gov Palin actually simply fear mongered. But then, expecting 'substance' in ana election is like expecting them to do what they claimed they'd do after they're elected. For me, I'm please that she's back in God's Armpit...

Where was the voter fraud, btw... I saw some attempted, yes, but the fact we know about it means it failed. If it was successful we'd *maybe* get to hear about it in 2010 or after...

According to Islam, it actually is passed on from father to child. They all think he's a Muslim. Some of them are going to get a rather rude awakening, however. That amuses me.

Oi...his father was a Kenyan Arab. I promise. I bear no ill will towards him due to his heritage, but I'm not gonna ignore it when it comes up, either.
