  1. Matador says:

Will do. We’ll get right on electing McCain.

  2. Evertide says:

    Hah. Ever since 2000….

  3. Kismet says:

Every time I see a Florida joke, I don’t know if we should laugh at ourselves, or hang out heads in abject humiliation. Being a floridian sucks. BUT…. It’s the old people who always run the voting polls, so I am none too surprised.

    • DERP says:

Lol I know what you mean. Florida seems to be America’s punching bag and it always seems they’re gladly pretty good sports about it.

      I blame Disney, lol.

      • Kismet says:

I know… next time, I should prolly get a huge group of younger folks together and volunteer to be a poll worker. Mebe that would make a difference? Every time I walk into a polling office here in Fl., it smells like mothballs and is veeeeeeerrrrrrrrrry sloooooooooowwwww…..

  4. steroid says:

Like you did in 2000, following a proper legal procedure, counting legal votes and eliminating illegal votes, under the control of properly appointed officials and courts. That was a fuckup. You should have just found every ballot where “Gore” wasn’t pristine and untouched and called that a vote. That would have been fair.

  5. Tairii says:

I filled my ballot out correctly, and according to the machine it’s going to be counted. How many times it gets counted is up to the supervisor of elections. (Our SoE is great… she leaves names off the ballots and then magically counts over 24k votes in an area where only 14k votes were cast… yeah, I voted against her too.)

    • metonymy says:

aww thats nothing, we had 36,000 votes in a precinct in Ohio with 5,136 registered voters. Electronic voting fail.

    • minerva146 says:

NY is using its mechanical lever machines for the last time this year. I am hopeful about the new machines. They take a paper ballot you fill out with pen/marker, thenscan the sheet. It tabulates based on a complete image scan, you can tell the machine if it’s correct before it “casts” the vote. Then the ballot drops into the sealed ballot box from the scanner as a physical paper ballot record in case there’s a problem with the electronics. Also, the machine has a part that allows disabled to produce a ballot that is marked via a computer interface. Prole can even plug in their sip/puff straw machines if they are totally immobilized, and vote independently. They still get a physcal ballot that gets scanned and collected. I hope this system works well. NY held on to the mechanical machines as long as they could, but they were overdue in FULL compliance with the Americans with disabilities act.

  6. Florida says:

No can do, but I’ll try not to involve the supreme court this time ;) . Mkay?

  7. annie says:

le sigh. ballots are always being lost, stolen, put in college kids’ who are being bribed with cheap sex and free pizza trunks (did i pluralize that right?)…it’s mostly the local politicans wanting to get their way. they ruin everything.

  8. Rosebud says:

    Its “Flori-D-U-H!” I should know, I live here, for some un-GAWD-ly reason…..

    • cyj70 says:

yeah, I’m still trying to figure out the reason I live here as well..

oh wait, perhaps the reason is to screw around during important events *cough*2000*cough*..

    • Melpomene says:

Boooo….I left after being born and raised there but now I’m in NY! I wish I could vote in Florida!

    • thestik says:

Voting snafus: one of the many reasons I moved out of Florida and to Minnesota. Took too long to move, though. I voted in 2 FL elections (but not 2000; I was too young at the time [thank goodness...?].)

  9. Slaggingham says:

Florida’s vote comes down to whether they believed his little pro-space program speech when he was campaigning down there… or everything ELSE he said and did before and after that.

  10. n8 says:

Florida’s already hard at work fucking it up. One of my friends living here in Northern VA is still registered in Broward County FL, sent off for his absentee ballot the first week in October and never received one. He’s been disenfranchised, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t suspect a conspiracy. “Northern VA? Those guys will all be voting for the ni-… I mean Democrat. I think we’ll just lose this guy’s application.”

  11. MCab says:

If Florida’s ballots were rigged, wouldn’t there be other states that had the same problem?

Or were the dems just screaming “foul” because it was the last and decisive state

    • ElbieSee says:

My state (Oklahoma, FYI) has a paper ballot – you complete the arrow of the person you want to vote for, then you put it in the machine and it’s counted. Once. We’ve never had problems.

      • david says:

        Hey ElbieSee,

as a Wikipedia author, I want to point out

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_in_Switzerland

We have only paper ballots and do the counts damn fast and damn correct. And as for the voter registration โ€“ย we have none. Everybody is already registered as soon as he/she moves to another town.

I just wonder about every U.S. election and I pray the machines do not fuck it up. There’s no need for them.

    • Seth says:

You do know that the states run elections themselves with no help from any central authority, right? What goes wrong in one state has no bearing on other states, because they are not operating under the same rules.

That being said, there were plenty of irregularities in many states, especially those with electronic voting. Remember the president of Diebold promising Ohio to Bush?

      • Democrat says:

OO – now on the news we see Black Panthers at voting sites refusing to let whites vote. Aren’t we Dems classy !?

        • Ceefax says:

          Cite, Ms Todd?

You probably won’t accept the last one as it’s from Fox News, but that’s the stuff I could find quickly.

            • froofrou says:

And to be fair, they’re not actively refusing to let white voters in. It’s more of an intimidation by being there thing that won’t really work if you ARE GOING to vote and nothing will stop you.
              -
I don’t see any Aryans in front of Dem voting sites, though. So that’s a thought.

          • froofrou says:

I sent a citation, but it got eaten because there is http code contained therein :-) Give it a minute.

        • ck says:

          Lying troll is lying. Yawn.

    • wundawomun says:

Remember that Jeb Bush was the governor in 2000. Something smells foul there.

  12. John says:

Uhm, the people of Florida NEVER fucked up an election, unless you count the idiots that counted it. It’s not our fault the BUSH stole the 2000 election.

  13. PortlandMark says:

Click my name for Obama v McCain dance-off.

  14. StupidDemocrat says:

If Obama wins, he’ll pay for my mortgage and gas !!!!!!!!

  15. Doesn’t it seem a bit unfair that the majority of the population of the Free World is not allowed to vote for the self-proclaimed Leader Of The Free World?
So either cut the crap and don’t use that title – ever – or let us vote too.

  16. fxquant says:

Totally tasteless, but to be expectorated.

  17. Michelle says:

It’s horrible that I feel really nervous about my vote being rigged here :(

At least McCain’s brother isn’t the governor, right?

  18. Terapyn says:

Sigh – yeah I’m a Floridian… yeah we can’t vote… yeah, there’s a list of things we don’t do well… but hey, we’ve got tons of beaches and the “Happiest Place on Earth.” Sigh, not really making up for the lack of general intelligence I’ve found here. I mean, really, our school systems rank what, 48th out of 50? I’ve got 2 years before my son starts school – thank God.

    • Jenkins83 says:

Yeah, I dropped out of the Florida public school system at 16, got a job, and (no joke) paid my way through private school because I felt that I wasnt getting a good education…

    • Paul says:

That’s because Florida isn’t where life is worth living like Webster (click my name for the town web page). You may be the happiest place on earth, but life apparently isn’t worth living there.

  19. AuthorAngel says:

    Extremely insulting.
Half of Florida is extremely liberal, and the other is conservative.
I am in the conservative part (technically, I’m a conservative independent).
But stuff like this is pretty insulting. Yeah, Bush screwed things over, but I am so tired of the double standard.
Other dems have fucked things up.
No one is shouting at Obama for being a liberal. The most liberal in fact.
I happen to like what McCain stands for, and I believe that if the last two presidents had been democratic, you all would love McCain. We’ve been overexposed to Bush, and people have forgotten there is such a thing as a good Republican. Reagan anyone? Our country flourished under him.
You know, I feel like posting a list of exactly why I’m for John McCain.

I like the idea that all children should be able to live and potentially prosper.
I like the idea that small business owners won’t be punished for making more than a coke addict
I like the fact that he can withstand hardship. Never seen that for Obama.
I like the fact that he has much more experience than Obama.
I like the idea that if you murder someone of your own will, you will experience death
I like the idea he has that we should be taught about the effects of alcohol and marijuana as well as cocaine or acid
I like the idea that good teachers should make more than bad lawyers
I like the idea that schools should decide whether or not to teach creationalism
I like the idea that he wants to protect the environment
I like the idea that he supports family values
I like the idea that I can own a gun and killers cannot have a bazooka
I like the idea that amnesty is an option for immigrants who fled to this country because of oppression from their homeland
I like the idea that big corporations get tax breaks so millions of people can stay employed
I like the concept that Ethanol takes away from the world’s food supply
I like the idea that we can use free speech to a certain degree, but hateful groups should be banned
I like that I don’t have to dig into his background
    I like John Sidney McCain

Just to be clear, I am not Evil Pundit. Never have been, never will be. But I am a conservative independent and I believe in capitalist fundamentals. Under capitalism, there will always be the richer and the poorer. If I didn’t like it, I’d be in Europe.
God I need a drink after today….all the dems in my journalism class are so unreasonable. They’ll bring up Pundit Kitchen and start laughing at the screw McCain things, but the second I laugh at a political cartoon my sister sent me (one that made fun of Obama) their faces turn red and they start screaming that I am a bitch for laughing.
*sighs* sorry I’m babbling. My uber Republican-conservative friend picked up a bottle of tabasco and started reading the label. “Takes three years to make it….that’s pathetic.” Then he stands on the table and holds it up in a carsalesman way and shouts, “I’M BARACK OBAMA AND I APPROVE THIS PIECE OF CRAP!”
    XOXO

    • minerva146 says:

Sorry public schools can not teach creationism. That is promoting a particular religion, but we have freedom of religion. If that’s a valid doctrine, than so is Flying Spaghetti Monster. America was not founded as a Christian nation. Look up Deism, particularly under Jefferson.

Big corporations getting tax breaks often send out jobs out of the country.

You do have to dig into McCain’s background, as he also has several (closer) associations that are quite nefarious. I don’t believe in guilt by association, but you have to apply the same standard to ALL candidates.

Dems aren’t saying we should have one class. They are reminding everyone that the middle class is the foundation of the economy and that if the middle class fails, than the nation does.

Obama isn’t that liberal. Read lots of other posts about this. His voting record isn’t the most liberal. What he HAS been is opposed to Bush. Voting against the screwed up policies of Bush, doesn’t necessarily make you ultra liberal.

Reagan wasn’t nearly as great as you think. He had the biggest deficit in history prior to Bush. Deregulation that began under Reagan has contributed to our current crisis.

There are a couple points I’m not in complete disagreement with you on, and I could add to these that I oppose. I respect your opinion, but I don;t think you are completely informed in these conclusions.

    • Uncle Fester says:

“I like the concept that Ethanol takes away from the worldโ€™s food supply”

      I think we have a new retard…

And stick your comments about “socialist Yoorpe” up your fat, loud, ignorant arse…

      • Kate says:

Ethanol does take away from the world’s food supply because it is derived from corn.
God, did I insult anyone? Did I call anyone on here a jackass?
        Fester, I’m 13.

        • Corn-man says:

You retard, that corn isn’t edible by anyone because it’s been genetically modified so much no living animal could digest it.

  20. Jenkins83 says:

My thoughts EXACTLY. It was a sad day in Florida when I was told today out at the polls “Now, remember, you can only pick one! We’ve had a lot of people try to pick two…” – in regards to the presidential candidates.

  21. fasfan says:

Well looks like Florida is going to Obama, so I guess they did screw it up.

  22. Phaelin says:

I’d like to spoil the election for everyone: Assassins take out all major candidates, flinging Bob Barr into the #1 spot. The economy rebounds, and everyone’s happy.

  23. n8 says:

It’s over!!! BARACK OBAMA is the President-Elect of the United States!

  24. Catcat says:

Well Florida didn’t fuck it up

  25. KiaRancourt says:

Think we got it right this time, bb.

  26. manifest says:

damn bruh.. aint you heard!? We’s a BLUE STATE NOW!!!1!!

  27. rocked the vote says:

FL didn’t screw up the national election, but the whole amendment 2 thing is still a shining beacon of Floridian ignorance.

  28. Helga says:

    Favor granted, Mr. President!

  29. tsukinofaerii says:

    Favor GRANTED! :D

  30. Florida says:

OH FINE, but I’m still gonna ban gay marriage! :-P

  31. Melody says:

    And we didn’t!!

OMGWTFBBQ!! I live in a blue state now!! *happy dances*

  32. lollollllloololololoo says:

    Awesome.

  33. Chicago Mama says:

    Thank You, Florida.

  34. dogluv19 says:

wat does this mean????????????????????and y use florida y not a different state thats not florida (cause my grandma lives down ther) an dont use minnesota cause i live in minnesota

sincerly name that is on the comment :)

  35. niffneh says:

    Obviously the right person won.
    McCain is another Bush.
Him in the white house is just begging for America to be even further in the hole than it is.
Which I must say, is pretty damn far.

    Obama is AMAZING!

    CONGRATS OBAMAAAA!!!

And FL, finally got some damn sense!

  36. michelle says:

    “I DEMAND A RECOUNT!”
Gore should have won in 2000 <_<
