  1. Christine says:

I hear Fox already has a Sarah Palin show in the works if they lose.

    • Phaelin says:

So what flavor is that Kool-Aid you’ve got there? I’m a big fan of Black Cherry. (No racial slur intended. I’m serious.)

      • Philip Shade says:

the kind backed up by news articles.
        Clickee on muh name.

      • Christine says:

If this is a reference to me exhibiting displays of cult-like fandom, then you need to reread what I wrote. It was merely a statement or rumors that have been going around. If you want to use the Kool-Aid line on someone, use it in the proper context. It might have even been appropriate if I had said “when they lose.” But I didn’t even say that.

And for the record I enjoy the Pink Lemonade flavor of Kool-Aid. Not that it even applies to my original post.

        • Phaelin says:

Perhaps it’s the way it came across, whether or not you’d said “when they lose”. But, since you took the time to correct me, I do apologize. The tone it carried was not one of making a statement, but trying to make a jab, so you can see where that would come from, I’d hope. Either way, Pink Lemonade is overrated. Go find something better.

          • Christine says:

You are sounding a little paranoid if you think that was a jab. The LOL mentioned a television show, and I just said that there actually might be a show featuring Sarah Palin.

I also like the purple drink that Kool-Aid makes if that helps.

          • Lola says:

…post said “IF they lose”. Reading comprehension FTW.

            • Phaelin says:

Ah, no. Her comment which I just replied to said, and I quote, “if I had said ‘when they lose.’ But I didn’t even say that.” In short, you just look like a dipshit now.

        • duck says:

          grape ftw

        • Ceefax says:

Funnily enough Bill O’Reilly uses the words “Kool-Aid” like a nervous tick as well, quite ironic if his zombie drones have picked it up from him and are using it mindlessly without knowing the meaning.

          • Phaelin says:

I think I may have watched the show one time, but I really care nothing for it. If that helps debunk your theory. On that note, it would be kind of ironic if his supporters started throwing the term around like cult-zombies. Or hypocritical.

    • DRH says:

Ummm…. sorry by Sarah Palin wasn’t “found guilty” of anything.

      • metonymy says:

Yep. The best part is that the day the bipartisan commission that investigated her published the report that found her guilty, she thanked that same commission for not finding her guilty. I still have the video clip. Its an amazing feat of logic.

      • Jamieteevee says:

“I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110 (a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act,” investigator Steve Branchflower concluded in the panel’s 263-page report.

        • Jamieteevee says:

          Intent to cooperate

          * On July 18, Palin said “we would never prohibit, or be less than enthusiastic about any kind of investigation.”[145]

          * On July 21, Palin said that said she welcomed an investigation. “I’ve said all along, hold me accountable,” Palin told reporters.[146]

          * On July 24, Palin said “I have absolutely nothing to hide … I’m happy to answer any questions between now and when they [the legislature] do conduct an investigation also. … I’m happy to comply, to cooperate. … No problem with an independent investigation.”[147]

          * On July 29, Palin’s spokesperson said “the governor has said all along that she will fully cooperate with an investigation and her staff will cooperate as well.”[148]

          * On August 13, an official press release stated “Governor Palin has directed all of her staff to cooperate fully with Branchflower.”[149]

          * On August 29, Palin’s attorney wrote to Branchflower: “Please know that we intend to cooperate with this investigation … I would like to review our calendars to schedule depositions of witnesses.”[150]

          * On August 30, the McCain campaign said “Governor Palin is an open book on this — she did nothing wrong and has nothing to hide. … she has been happy to cooperate fully in the inquiry of this matter. … The legislature and Attorney General are both currently reviewing the circumstances of Walt Monegan’s departure … and the Governor is fully cooperating with those inquiries.”[151]

          * On August 30, the Washington Times reported that Palin knew Branchflower by reputation, and welcomed the investigation: “I know he’s a prosecutor, probably a heavy duty prosecutor, and so that kind of puzzles us why we are going down that road when we are very, very open to answering any questions anybody has of me or administrators … But I think this process will bode well for the state of Alaska and our administration, having a review committee of those experts in public safety, in the trooper organization.”[82]

          * On September 4, the Anchorage Daily News noted that Palin had made repeated public statements that she would cooperate, and reported that Palin’s attorney had said that hadn’t changed.[152]

          [edit] Intent not to cooperate

          * On September 1, Palin requested that the Personnel Board review the matter.[153] That same date, her lawyer, hired in late August, asked the state Legislature to drop its investigation, saying that by state law, the Personnel Board had jurisdiction over ethics issues.[122]

          * On September 2, Palin’s attorney wrote to Branchflower: “It appears that the [Personnel] Board has jurisdiction over this matter … [therefore you should] suspend your investigation pending the outcome of the Personnel Board investigation.”[154]

          * On September 5, French and Ramras made this joint statement: “This week, seven key witnesses informed Mr. Branchflower through their attorneys that they would not provide depositions. Their depositions, which had been agreed to and scheduled earlier with Mr. Branchflower, were cancelled within the last 72 hours.”[90]

          * On September 13, Palin said “we’ve said all along that … the personnel board is the appropriate agency or board to inquire.”[155]

          * On September 16, a McCain spokesperson said “the governor is not going to cooperate with that [Branchflower] investigation.”[105]

Coming this spring on Fox Sports: “Parasailin’ with Sarah Palin”

  2. Phaelin says:

Wow, I haven’t given the Upcoming page a look in a while. There’s some crazy stuff going on there. I think I’ll stick to taking my liberal slant in smaller doses, like the few a day we get from the main page… Seriously, my nerves can’t take much more conservative bashing. My poor heart needs some balance around here. X_x

    • ema says:

*shudder* I haven’t looked in there in a long time!

    • Bus says:

The ones with “Hope or Hate” are truly disgusting.

    • Seth says:

In the spirit of bipartisanship, here’s a few quips for you just off the top of my head.

Democrats: we believe voting is so important, we won’t even discriminate against dead people.

Republicans: Without us, Obama would be picking cotton.

The American Independent: seriously, can you guys even dress yourselves? “I think I’ll wear plaid, but I really like stripes! Ah well, why decide when you can just go naked?”

    • lowly grunt says:

      I went and looked.

I am either very resistant to the liberal stuff, it wasn’t present, I need more caffeine, or you are seeing things that I’m not. Maybe I didn’t get as far into the pages as you – I stopped at 14 and then jumped to 20. Still didn’t see what you saw.

What didn’t you like other than the unfunny?

      • lowly grunt says:

Do you mean the voting page?

Or the upcoming page? I went to teh upcoming page….

        • Charlie Foxtrot says:

LG, I went to the upcomming also, and besides the unfunny ones…there were a lot of those, i didn’t see any shocking ones. I must admidt that when i do vote, every few days, I tend to hit the fail button alot, in fact I keep the curser there and click so fast, I’ve failed some of my own before I knew it…Of Course mine are always funny! ;)

  3. Bus says:

Can’t expect much less from this place. They need a name change.

“LOL News and Politics (as long as it smears conservatives)”.

  4. Bus says:

Oh, and I’d make one with Obama that says “promoted a book written by a guy that is happy that he tried to kill Americans”, or “can’t define the middle class”, but that wouldn’t get posted.

  5. duck says:

    i hate palin
    i hate mccain
    i hate obama
    and i hate biden

good lord this country is doomed.

*searches up cheap homes in australia*

    • Philip Shade says:

Yeah, but Australia has massive net censorship and wendigos.

I’ll put up with a lot more than our election process to avoid either of those.

    • Phaelin says:

No thanks, I’d like to avoid fsking koalas. They can crawl up a tree and die. Besides, you -could- vote for Bob Barr.

    • eddiepscetti says:

There are no cheap homes here.. stay in the States..

      • Phaelin says:

Homes are especially cheap right now. Buy ‘em while they’re low!
        —-
Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to buy a foreclosed home. I’d feel bad. :/

        • eddiepscetti says:

Doh! I meant in Australia.. they’re quite high at the moment.

        • the_original_shortright says:

i’ve been looking to buy a foreclosed home and trust me… after being in some of them i dont’ feel bad about it. you can tell that the people wrecked the homes when they found out they were getting the boot. about half of the ones that i’ve been in have had severe water damage from people turning up their forced steam heaters to like 90* and then walking away.
          -
around here, homes usually have plaster walls. due to it’s nature paint just kinda lays on top of it. if it gets really really hot and wet (like a heater turned up and left on for a long time) the paint will literally bubble away from the walls and come off in sheets. after the paint and “mud” are no longer protecting the plaster it begins to absorb the water and rot away. leaving the walls as studs and lathe.
          -
what’s even better are the houses where it’s obvious they turned on the water in the basement and walked away and the entire basement is covered in black mold. or my favorite, was the one where the third floor smelled like poo and when i looked in the crawl space i found out why – someone had been using it as a toilet for quite some time.
          -
i know these are extreme cases… especially because i’ve seen some foreclosed homes that were in good condition too. but i don’t feel badly about it at all because these people obviously didn’t treat the homes well and didn’t pay for them either. getting foreclosed is no treat, but it’s not like they’re coming back to the house as soon as they get some more money.

          • Ev says:

My MIL was watching a “flip this house” type of show, and the guy bought a house to flip. It seemed mostly fine, so he set to renovating … only to find out, after he’d run water down the pipes, that the previous owner had poured dry cement down the drains.

I have no pity, NONE, for homeowners get foreclosed on and then throw a “fine, if I can’t have it, neither can YOU” tantrum.

            • minerva146 says:

These examples are not the majority of what happened to foreclosures. Some damage may be due to simple ignorance, not spite. You guys are way overgeneralizing. Way to demonize the middle class yet again.

        • minerva146 says:

What’s gross is, Armondo Montalongo has been airing radio ads for his “free” CD about flipping houses. He says something like “The best time to buy real estate is when there are cracks in the economy.” Nice of him to teach others to take advantage of people’s misfortune.

          • Ev says:

You’re not kicking ANYONE out of a home if you buy a foreclosed home. What is better, that the homes sent empty and rot while the bank has them?

            • minerva146 says:

NO, I know the home has to be resold, I just think it’s underhanded and slimy to make a BUSINESS out of people’s misfortune. I’d prefer to see the home go to someone who really wants to live there, that’s all.

              • PortlandMark says:

Welcome to the Shock Doctrine. Also, read the book of the same name. It’s how the conservatives have been making money for years now! (Iraq, Katrina, foreclosures). It’s based on the theory that while there’s chaos, it’s easy to steal.

                • AtlasShrugged says:

“buy low, sell high” is the law of business, good or bad.

                  • PortlandMark says:

Especialy if you can cause the low price by either direct or indirect action? Like if, say, someone burned your house down and then bought the property from you for 10% what you paid?

                    • AtlasShrugged says:

Read the book Atlas Shrugged. It’s how socialism destroys everything.

                      • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

Like Europe.. because Europes doing soooo badly.

                        • n8 says:

It’s a red herring anyway. Nobody’s advocating a huge swing to socialism, just a small progression along the axis. If Zero equals darwinist capitalism and 100 equals Marxism-Leninism, the policies put forward by Obama take us from a 15 to about a 20.
That’s a little too nuanced for our McCainanite brethren, however. They just want to have a keyword-label that they can apply and then attack. Unfortunately for them, the ideological struggles between Capitalism and Communism died with the 80’s, and the electorate no longer gives a rodent’s posterior.

      • duck says:

well, so much for tryin’ *shrugs*

        *runs off with the circus*

  6. Rocketman71 says:

Bus: “Can’t expect much less from this place. They need a name change. “LOL News and Politics (as long as it smears conservatives)”.”

Yeah, not like this is an open forum. You ever think the comments here reflect the majority thinking in this country?

    • Bus says:

Not to the level that this place portrays it. You think the majority of the country favors a socialist roughly 10-1?

      • Tairii says:

Too bad he’s not a Socialist.

        • Bus says:

          …Are you joking?

Noo, he never talked about “redistribution of wealth”. He never told a plumber in Ohio that “when you spread the wealth around…”. And, he never mentioned that it’s a tragedy that the Supreme Court didn’t further pursue redistributing wealth. Yeah, since he never said all that, he’s not a socialist!

And, I’m sure glad I’m not a reporter following the Obama campaign, because I’d get kicked off of the plane for talking about this! But, no socialist governments have NEVER done things to suppress the opposition voice! There’s no similarity there! Nope! None! Not at all! ALL HAIL THE SAVIOR!

          • Seth says:

Nope, I am a socialist. Obama isn’t even close, he’s not even left wing. He’s a centrist. You need to learn what socialism actually is before you go claiming that someone is a socialist. You really have no idea. It is not about taking your stuff and giving it to people who don’t deserve it.

            • lowly grunt says:

I was hoping you’d pick up on that, Seth. I was sitting here, racking my brain for the points you made lo these many posts ago and was coming up with bupkuss.

I said to my son the other day that Obama is alot more like an Eisenhower Republican if you close your eyes and ignore all the “uh”s.

          • Tairii says:

No, I’m not joking, I myself am a Socialist. He’s not one, I promise. Sure some of his ideas and policies sound socialist, but so then do the wall street bailout, and McCain’s ‘have the government buy up bad mortgages’ policy does too.

          • Well considering that Joe isn’t/wasn’t a plumber, then no he didn’t tell a plumber anything.

            • metonymy says:

Joe also said israel would be destroyed the day Obama gets elected. McCain might want to find a new prop to drag on stage for the next few days.

              • Tairii says:

Apparently Joe is trying to get a book deal now. Because asking a question makes you a great American hero who had a life everyone wants to know all about!

  8. fxquant says:

Yes, there has never been a Democrat ever caught with his hand in the cookie jar or violating ethics or even driving some young women off a bridge and abandoning her or being a member of the KKK or ….

Oh never mind, the party of the self annointed Saints deems things so, so the bubosi believe.

Thank god for the Independent Green Party.

    • minerva146 says:

No, I don’t think the democratic party is filled with saits. Far from it. That still doesn’t justify this kind of behavior. The “I know you are but what am I” argument is no good here. The question really is, how many ethics violations and other crimes, big and small have been committed PROPORTIONATELY over the last 40 years or so. I listed a lot of them the other day on a different LOL. The republicans are more corrupt at this point in time because they have held power the most over the time period. “Absolute power corrupts absolutely” Power breeds corruption, so we shouldn’t be surprised that we have this issue skewed in this direction. If it had been the other way round, I wouldn’t doubt that you’d find more corruption on the democratic side. This is one of the problems inherent in the two-party system. It’s why we need to make some changes now, before it’s too late. We also need some balance over the next generation, or more viable parties.

That said, we really need to put an end to this trickle-down fiscal policy. it has hurt the country worse than even some of the corruption. (although I think it’s also a contributor TO the corruption, as money corrupts as well. Trickle down is politics of greed)

  9. minerva146 says:

I personally don’t get why people aren’t bothered more by the corruption. There’s over 130 comments and hardly anybody has commented on that. Are we that apathetic about it? I, for one, find it disgusting whether it’s Palin and Stevens or Elliot Spitzer or any party doing it. I would like to see the American people stand up to people like this and say NO MORE. I know this sounds idealist and people can take my two cents for what it’s worth. Too much money involved in politics, period.

    • kaypee65 says:

Hey, just you wait until Alaska reelects their Uncle Ted. Yes, we really do call him that. Sadly, if he’s expelled from the senate he won’t be in a position to appoint his son Ben. (Lisa Murkowski was appointed by her dad when he left the senate mid-term.) Surprisingly, this bothered enough people up here that we changed our laws to require special elections from now on. Go figure.

We voted a dead guy into office, next we’ll have a newly convicted felon. He’s sure to get off an appeal anyway – this ain’t over right? Besides, he’s still our Uncle Ted bringing home the bacon..

And those pesky ethics violations and Sarah’s total lack of ability to avoid using state funds for her family, well you can bet we’ll keep her in office for years and years!

  10. Varatil says:

Is Gravel in the insanity ward?

  11. Alan says:

Um, Palin was cleared of everything… no ethics violation… get it right people.

    • Chris says:

Well, she hasn’t exactly been cleared of everything. But she certainly hasn’t been “found guilty” either as the caption implies. There have been two separate investigations–one by politicians which suggests she engaged in unethical behavior, another one by an independent investigator appointed by the state who found that she didn’t do anything unethical. But neither of these have any legal force. She has been charged, tried, convicted, or acquitted of any violations of the law or ethics rules.

    • bootless says:

Thanks for posting that … Palin was indeed COMPLETELY CLEARED.

If you guys in the left bash everything in sight, it all turns into so much noise.

  12. Kevin says:

    Palin’s innocent!

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081104/ap_on_el_pr/palin_troopergate

And really, people have GOT to stop putting “gate” on the end of everything. Seriously, “Watergate” was the name of a hotel, so it’s really stupid to give “gate” to everything.

After the Teapot Dome scandel, did people start putting “dome” at the end of all scandel names? >:-(

  13. Christian says:

funny, but (in Sarah’s case) wrong… too bad somebody didn’t wait for her to be pronounced GUILTY to make this other wise it never would have wasted all our time seeing it.

  14. iambydefault says:

she was never found guilty of ethics violations, those of you who think so are stupid and possibly illiterate.

  15. Mike says:

Um, no. The ethics committee ruled Palin innocent, dumbass.

    Research much?
