    College Republicans FTL!

  2. Yaaaaa, stupid people deserve scars…

  3. lizling says:

    ohhh, that looks ouchy…

  4. John McCain says:

You idiot, if only you had said you were not at the atm(where there would be cameras) and had drawn the B in reverse.

    You spoilt my chance forever.

    Damn you.

  5. mike says:

Meh. The woman has a history of mental disorders. Making fun of people with serious emotional issues is not all that funny.

    • Rafiq of the many says:

      sure it is retard.

      • DW says:

No, Rafiq of the many, it’s really not.

        • ema says:

Thanks for your fairness, DW. It’s not funny.

          • Sorry, I laugh at stupid. Explanation is below.

            • Rafiq of the many says:

I agree, there is a long, long history of dark humor. When we start delineating between what is, and isn’t acceptable to make fun of, we run the risk of taking ourselves too seriously. If we take life too seriously, then what point is there in any humor whatsoever.

Of course people can take it to far, and be mean spirited about it. However, as long as it is in good fun, and meant to make a person laugh, and not cry, there is nothing wrong with dark humor.

Some of the best jokes i have heard would be considered dark humor. Lenny Bruce, Richard Prior and Dave Chappelle all tell me that dark humor is ok.

              • Pretty much, I would rather laugh at idiot than lament that there are stupid people. Laughter is a release, don’t take my release. I need all the legal stuff I can get, man!!!

      • G. Garner says:

Whether or not she has a mental disorder, this self-mutilation is sad.

    • Willie Coyote had obsession issues and was OCD. DO NOT LAUGH AT HIM!!! IT ISN’T RIGHT!!!

No, nothing is sacred. If you are unstable/stupid/whatever enough to file a report that is false, you deserve ridicule.

    • x-bert says:

She is obviously a threat to herself – lock her up.
      Thanks.
      ..
*mumbles something about sterilization and chuckles a bit*

    • dissimilitude says:

I’m with you on that. This girl is apparently mentally ill; if someone calculated and planned this and THEN did something that boneheaded, it would be funny; but a mentally ill woman self-mutilating and then coming up with a bizarre story? Just not getting the laughs there.

If I wanted to laugh at people with mental issues I could go right outside my office and try to make the homeless dance for a dollar.

      • I only laugh at people like this when they bring it on themselves. That homeless guy probably didn’t ask to be homeless. This girl put herself into the limelight only to be boo’d when her lie caught up to her.

Sorry, I’m a bad person. I laugh at dumb criminals.

(for the dim, filing a false police report is a criminal offense thus validating my dumb criminal statement)

(Disclaimer: I use “for the dim” instead of disclaimer…)

        • dissimilitude says:

Being a criminal and being crazy aren’t mutually exclusive, you know.

They’re holding this girl for a mental evaluation.

Anyway, I laugh at dumb criminals on a daily basis, but for me this goes beyond the normal dumb-criminal stuff into uncomfortably pathetic.

          • It was the backwards B that makes me laugh. It is just stupid. Even people with mental illnesses can be clever. Just look at how smart serial killers can be. They are off their nut but at least they aren’t inept.

So yes, explain how mental illness would make you stupid enough to not figure out that a mirror makes writing backwards? Sorry, mental illness made her think of the plan. Stupidity made the B backwards. I am still laughing at a stupid criminal who happens to be very pathetic.

(For the dim, yes I realize that inept serial killers would be for the best instead of the competent strain we are stuck with.)

            • dissimilitude says:

              Ok…good point.

Inept serial killers: “Hey, wait, come back here! I was only going to slit your throat, keep the body in the freezer for a month, and then cook you for dinner!! :sigh: They keep running away. I thought chlorophyll was supposed to knock people unconscious.”

            • Tessie says:

I usually think P.J. O’Rourke is a complete waste of oxygen, but he did have one story that made me laugh about how he “almost got mugged”. According to the story, the would-be mugger was standing across the street and yelled out, “Come over here and give me all your money!” O’Rourke answered “No!” and kept walking. I guess some people just aren’t very good at their jobs.

            • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

I do have to agree DWN… The mentally ill can be VILELY cunning. At the state mental institution near where I live, some of the patients are allowed “off
campus” time. They go to the local convenience store etc. Usually harmless.
One particular woman with such privileges got angry with an orderly for taking
her crayons away at the end of her arts and crafts time… Not early, not to
be spiteful, but because, arts and crafts was over with. 6 months later that
same patient went to the local convenience store and filled a 64 ounce fountain
drink cup with Lye. She returned to the institution and promptly threw the
Lye in the orderly’s face. He’s now blind, with half a face…. she no longer has
“off campus” privileges…. Stew on that for a while.

          • Danbala says:

dissimilitude wrote: “Being a criminal and being crazy arenโ€™t mutually exclusive, you know.”

And apparently, neither are being crazy and being stupid.

            • Krispy Chaos says:

              so therefore according to logic:
              1. you can be a criminal and crazy
              2. you can be crazy and stupid
              3. therefore there are some criminals that are both stupid and crazy

          • Danbala says:

I replied to this comment very neatly, but then the site went bonkers and put my reply down at the bottom. For simplicity’s sake, I put it here as well:

            dissimilitude wrote:
“Being a criminal and being crazy arenโ€™t mutually exclusive, you know.”

And apparently, neither are being crazy and being stupid. :)

        • bittervoter says:

Yeah, from what I heard this girl deserves some mockery. I went to a halloween party last saturday where someone dressed up as her. Once we all figured out what she was, it was pretty funny.
(It probably didn’t hurt that this was a part of predominantly liberal musicians and theater people).

      • Rontu says:

Ah, “mentally ill”- the magic words; the get-out-of-jail-free card. Whether it’s true or not, it doesn’t matter. Just say the word, and suddenly, all of your wrongdoings are grounds for sympathy, not punishment. Racism, hate crimes, sexual predators… the great thing is, nearly everything can be classified as a mental illness nowadays, so no matter what you did wrong, there’s probably a mental illness that you can pretend to have in order to get yourself out of trouble!

I’ll keep that in mind if I’m ever in trouble with the law.

        • Ditto, I know a number of people who have beatings owed to them and a number of murders too. Ready my defense!!!

        • Tessie says:

While I agree that “mentally ill” and similar terms are misused way too often to get a guilty person off the hook, I also think there’s a big difference, morally and ethically, between somebody who knows full well what they’re doing and still does it vs. someone who is, all kidding aside, not right in the head. The former are cynical, the latter are pitiful.

          • herb says:

… Except that “not guilty by reason of insanity” verdict is rarer than a humble politician.

            • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

Indeed, normally because someone OTHER than the defendant and his attorney
must call for a psychological evaluation. Gone are the days of self diagnosis.
              Thankfully.

        • naughtyhorse says:

Thats a pretty cynical thing to say. People with some of the more severe mental illnesses have pretty shitty deal from society (and im a brit – i’m assuming your from the states, so scratch pretty shitty and replace with barbaric) whether this poor individual ‘planned’ it or not is frankly irrelevent. The mind that comes up with this stratagem is not healthy. and as such she deserves help.
And should you ever commit a serious offence, i really hope you do try a deminished responsibility defence. a few years in a high dependency psych ward, being pumped full of major tranx every day would give you a perspective that you may find helpful :-)

      • me says:

it was planned, she made several posts online about how “she was on the wrong side of town” stubbornly trying to find a specific banks atm machine and things of that nature in an effort to set this whole thing up. It was all planned out she just invented this whole “mental illness” thing because she got caught and was embarrassed to admit that she actually planned it. saying “well I don’t remember why I did it I just blacked out and it was there” is far less humiliating then taking them through her actual thoughts and intentions I imagine it is just a way of avoiding accountability plus the fact that she is being charged with a crime so pleading insanity probably seemed like a good idea.

Don’t be fooled by this whole she was mentally ill thing she just a moron who screwed up her attempt to get her candidate elected. Make no mistake she knew very well the angry bigoted crowd she was playing to just take a look at some of the far right blogs and comments regarding this before it broke that it was fake and it all makes sense. She is not crazy she is just opportunistic, petty, racist, stupid and inept a true republican through and through.

        • Domino says:

Actually, she’s a Democrat. She had been a McCain volunteer for two whole weeks before this “incident”. Prior to that, she was a staunch Obama supporter. She plastered about 20 McCain stickers on her car. Who does that?

She is nothing more than a suicide bomber for the Democratic party. What were those adjectives you used again? Opportunistic, petty, racist, stupid and inept?

You’re a thorough idiot for making a blanket statement that you so falsely apply to millions of people because of their political party. That, my friend, is stupid.

          • Seth says:

Wrong, she was a Ron Paul supporter before this. Did you read your lie someplace else and parrot it back, or did you make it up yourself?

            • The party doesn’t matter. The stupidity does. That is why I lol’d…

            • Domino says:

A Ron Paul supporter? Truly? And what is YOUR source, parrot?

              • Seth says:

Every damn news story I’ve read is my source, they ALL say that.
Here’s a tip for you: there is a website called google.com. When you want to look something up, go there and type in what you want information on. For instance, if you type in ‘Ashley Todd Ron Paul’ you will find literally hundreds of reputable news sources stating that this nut worked for Ron Paul. And you know what? She got kicked out of the Ron Paul campaign for the same sort of lie.

I picked a story from google and put the link in my name in case you can’t figure out how to use teh google. Now it’s your turn. Give us a source for that rumor or everyone will know what a liar you are. You don’t want everyone to think you are a liar, do you? Then come up with a source or slink out of here with your tail between your legs, child.

                • Domino says:

So you’re just parroting the “hundreds” of news stories you’ve read on this, right? It never occurred to you that the media will NOT divulge all the “balanced” details?

So your sources come from mainstream media that is practically bought by the Obama campaign. Everything they say is gospel, right? Learn how to THINK, not just PARROT. :)

I picked a story from google and put the link in my name in case you want an example of someone that isn’t afraid to question the validity of what the media preaches to us. Hopefully, you’ll learn something before you turn full lemming.

                  • me says:

thats not even a news story! it’s some random nut saying “Ibets thiz iz a c0spirasy!!” on an internet forum, there is no evedince of any kind that supports the idea that she worked for obama or any other democrat at any time someone just pulled this whole idea that she was a plant out of there ass. There is nothing no where to suggest she does or has ever had links to the obama campaign or any democratic candidates you have nothing, people like you just keep repeating this stuff because you would LIKE it to be true even though there is not a shred of evidence or any legitimate reason to believe it.

                  • Seth says:

Holy crap, you are a REAL wingnut. Mainstream news sources, owned by conservative rich people, run by conservative editors are ALL full of lies, but the rantings of some random dude on the ultra-right wing Hannity forums MUSTbe telling the truth. Thank you for identifying yourself as someone it will be impossible to have a real conversation with. Have fun with your tinfoil hat conspiracy theories and underdog hero complex.

                  • Uncle Fester says:

Hey! Forum’s are respected news sources! does that mean Area 51 is atually wall wall UFO tech? I read it on a forum, so it must be true.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, you get some real hard core retards on here.

                  • PortlandMark says:

‘Cause there’s a big conspiracy, see? And they’re all out to get the republicans. Any information to the contrary was planted by the evil godless conspiracy to stop the Christian American White way of life. So there.

(Sorry, I’ve been a little negative lately. These rear-guard neocons are starting to get on my nerves.)

                  • Rvo says:

Face it, Domino, that site was pretty awful. It didn’t even give facts, it just said that it seemed like a Democrat trick.

That was a real waste of time. Don’t parrot.

              • ck says:

Linked at my name. The relevant part:
                -
“In March, Ms. Todd was asked to leave a grass-roots group of Ron Paul supporters in Brazos County, Texas, group leader Dustan Costine said. He said Ms. Todd posed as a supporter of former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and called the local Republican committee seeking information about its campaign strategies.
“She would call the opposing campaign and pretend she was on their campaign to get information,” Mr. Costine said last night. “We had to remove her because of the tactics she displayed. After that we had nothing to do with her.”
About a month earlier, he said, Ms. Todd sent an e-mail to the Ron Paul group saying her tires were slashed and that campaign paraphernalia had been stolen from her car because she supported Mr. Paul.”

                • metonymy says:

Direct quotes from her former boss? Man…that looks like…gasp…evidence!
Way to shut down the comedy parade.

                    • Confoozled says:

Nope, sorry, that was obviously planted by the elite liberal book-reading intellectual mainstream media. *rubs temples* uh…now, where was I?

Oh, yeah, you can’t believe it just because the ELBRIMM prints it…you have to source it from a radio talk show, the Bible or that forum your father-in-law’s coworker emailed you about.

                      Otherwise, it’s just propaganda.

          • minerva146 says:

And you have your info from what source? I’m sure this would have been covered in the main news story…

            • Domino says:

Not on any channels currently enjoying the “advertising” money Obama is pouring into them.

              • minerva146 says:

Sorry, Right-wing blogs often make up their news. They don’t count as a legitimate source. GOt anything from AP, BBC? There are lots of legitimate news sources not affiliated with TV networks. Sorry, this is fail without sources.

                • Uncle Fester says:

I think Dom has either stopped taking his anti-paranoia meds, or simply won’t let reasonable sources get in the way of supposition on a blog/forum…

      • Jocasta says:

I have to agree with this. She is clearly off her rocker. And either way, the historical context of the racial whole dynamic at play here, without even bringing mental illness into it? Horribly, painfully unamusing.

    • ck says:

Sorry, I don’t have any sympathy for a white woman who specifically lied about a black man attacking her. Way too much history of men being lynched for that sort of shlt.

      • Yaaaaaaa, I have never been fond of race baiting. Giving a vague detail and then all the tall black guys get the Evil Eye.

      • wundawomun says:

Exactly!! And it totally reminded me of that lady (her name escapes me at the moment) who said a black guy carjacked her & stole her kids who were in the car so then every black guy was a suspect. & it turned out she killed them & sank the car!! That really pisses me off.

      • Ceefax says:

Aside for the obvious race-baiting and attempt to scare voters that those scary blacks will take over if Obama was elected, these kind of lies are deeply damaging even when there is no racial or political angle because they cast doubt on the reports of people who have been really attacked or sexually assaulted and makes people less inclined to report attacks because they fear they might not be believed. Also, what if she’d not been quite so dumb and managed to keep this pretence up – what if a guy matching her description had been in the area at the time and wound up being a suspect? Being accused of that sort of thing can lose you your job, your partner and your friends before you’ve even been tried.

Not to mention the huge waste of police time which could have been used to save lives, solve real crimes and protect the public.

        • Ceefax says:

Any road, now that a Republican-supporting white girl should be treated with kid-gloves for a pretty appalling crime because she claims she’s a bit loopy, I presume we’ve now seen a shift in policy for GOP supporters and they’ll change their views on the large number of black men with single-digit mental ages sitting on death row, shall we?

          No, I didn’t think so.

    • PortlandMark says:

      Agreed.

    • Philip Shade says:

To be fair, when I made it her “history” wasn’t known.
That said. It’s still kinda funny.

    • TurdFerguson says:

B is for bovine; throw this cow in the funny farm. She can try passing her bullsh*t on to someone else.

  6. Suzy Gluurk says:

She is a victim of man’s inhumanity to man and an embarrassment to chubby girls everywhere!

  7. Suzy Gluurk says:

An “O” for “Obama” would have been easier and made more sense; unless the “B” was put there by one of those “Biden Fanatics” we keep hearing about.

  8. cobrajoe says:

You gotta admit, the B does look really good. Except for the whole backwards and upside down problem.

  9. ck says:

I liked the other caption I saw that said “liaF”

  10. metonymy says:

If my memory serves, the claim about previous mental illness only surfaced after she was charged with filing a false report. And here I thought it was just people in hollywood that claimed emotional problems to explain away the stupid crap they did.

    • dissimilitude says:

Well, yeah, but that was the day after the initial reports, so it’s not like she was some media angel for a week or so and then it came out that she’s unbalanced. Also, it’s apparently not the first stunt like this she’s pulled, she got fired as a Ron Paul volunteer earlier in the year.

Also, I don’t think SHE’S the one claiming she has mental issues, it’s the people around her. Including the police, who are holding her for a mental evaluation.

      • metonymy says:

Best evidence of mental issues: She carved an effing backwards B in her face.

        Point ceded.

        • ck says:

Being declared mentally incompetent is much more complicated than that.

        • Ceefax says:

That kind of precedent would be interesting “Of course I’m not guilty on grounds of insanity. Prove I’m insane? I stabbed a hooker to death with a potato peeler, that’s pretty insane, isn’t it?”

  11. steroid says:

Six straight anti-conservative pics. Just saying.

    • Suzy Gluurk says:

One good Anti-Obama pic coming up!

[Just click my name to see it, cuz you'll never see it on the comments page here]

      • steroid says:

        Cool. Thanky.

      • Seth says:

That’s not a funny anti-Obama pic. That’s just a lame insult. A baby thinks Obama is the Antichrist. Seriously? No wonder conservative pics never make the front page, if this is any indication of the average quality level.

What’s more, it is a good indication of the depths which conservatives have sunk. You have nothing left to offer America but hate and fear. Do you have any idea how you sound to the average American when you play that game? You sound like a raving lunatic. You are not only hurting your cause with such over the top craziness, you are hurting our country.

        • AC says:

          Oh come on.
The pic was mildly amusing. Would you have minded were it John McCain? It would have been just the same.

          • Ev says:

No, not funny either way. Not to me, anyway, and funny is personal; you can’t really explain something into being funny.

Also, it does seem to be mindless fear-mongering. Regardless of the political atmosphere at the moment, I doubt either candidate is hiding in his secret lair, cackling at his ingenious plans to ruin the country. Whatever else they may or may not believe, I am sure that each sincerely believes his way is best.

          • vervain says:

I’ve voted against similar McCain captions. They aren’t funny. They’re weak ad homs. Anyone can do those to any candidate; they’re still not funny. It doesn’t matter if it’s an Obama pic with the caption “Dumbo” or a McCain pic with the caption “Old Fart”–it’s still LAME. Cheap insults are not LOLs. LOLs are JOKES.

        • ema says:

It’s hillarious! Just as funny as comparing Cindy McCain to the borg queen… You just can’t stand any lampooning of Obama for some reason.

          • Seth says:

Admission time: I don’t really like or trust Obama all that much. Lesser of two evils. He’s a centrist, he doesn’t really represent me or the left. I just don’t think the pic was that clever. Random insults don’t cut it. I said the same thing about the O’Reilly pic, and I can’t stand him.

            • Me says:

              “Heโ€™s a centrist”

              Now THATS a LOL

              • minerva146 says:

What people perceive as “far left” Is not really all that left since the whole system was hijacked by the ultra “conservative”, religious wing nut neo-cons. THe whole perception has been skewed so much that Pat Buchanan practically looks moderate! He once was seen as much too conservative by the republican party itself. Obama, really is pretty moderate by the unskewed, historical viewpoint. The system is so messed up, that even the word “liberal” takes on some evil connotation that creates a visceral reaction in people. Many really don’t have any idea what a real liberal stands for, they just “know” it’s no good.

                • Me says:

                  “religious wing nut neo-con”

                  lol

                  • Tom Trifik says:

ultra โ€œconservativeโ€, religious wing nut neo-cons
                    LOL Ha ha ha ha!

By Golly! You know those people are going to Make us own Guns and say the Pledge of Allegiance and Make us take TAX CUTS! I’m scared Mommy! Will they make me eat meat, drive an SUV and wear polyester clothes too?

                    • Seth says:

No, they are going to make abortion illegal, criminalize gay marriage, reinstitute segregation, put religion into public schools and take out science, and run our economy into the ground while attacking random foreign countries tyhat never did anything to us.

                    • minerva146 says:

As if I even discussed any of these issues to begin with. You have no idea of my stance on any of them. My point stands, paranoia boy.

                • lowly grunt says:

Totally. Listen to him talk about education and family values. He sounds like my Republican forebears who (I hope) are nothing like the GOP of today. My ancestors don’t want to know about people’s private lives. They just want everyone to pay their fair share, work hard, be honest, and do no harm. Sounds like Obama to me.

Wait – Cindy McCain is NOT the Borg Queen?

          • jules says:

Borg queen would have been funny (if it was one and i missed it, apologies) but suzy’s pic, not so much. Lame insults are just that – lame.

        • Eh, I kinda lol’d then I made a picture that did basically the same thing to McCain. The picture of Obama there, I used to make Obama look like a brain eating zombie.

        • Peoplearelame says:

What the fuck. I’m sorry, but it’s okay to laugh at a distasteful “anti-conservative” photo, but not one that’s the opposite?

Sorry, but double-standards truly sicken me.

Even I can laugh at the more tasteful, truly funny pictures regardless of my political standpoint. Unfortunately people do not seem to be above that.

      • grmblfjx says:

It’s not a “good anti-Obama pic” if you have to tell me that it’s anti-Obama. If you hadn’t said, I honestly would have thought you were making fun of the people who aren’t embarrassed to say something like that seriously.

      • Uh-Oh says:

Seriously? You think that’s GOOD? That’s really just awful, completely biased and unsupported right-wing conservative bull.
And FYI – The Anti-Christ will be of Roman descent (Daniel 9:26-27). Last time I checked, Obama is pretty much everything BUT Roman. But not like right-wing conservatives actually READ the Bible anyway…

    • Philip Shade says:

How is ragging on an idiot race baiter anti-conservative?
Unless you’re implying all conservatives are idiot race baiters.

I mean I know the PA GOP sent out an email comparing Obama to the rise of Hitler to Jews (click my name for the story), but it can’t be something endemic of the conservative mindset. Can it?

  12. jmed says:

Really? You’re going to glorify this action by making fun of the victim? It’s one thing to make fun of someone’s politics you don’t agree with, but what I’m reading here is ridiculous. The reason this country exist is (a bunch of old white guys didn’t want to pay taxes) to promote and protect basic human rights. You’re reveling in the violation of this woman just because her politics aren’t the same as yours. You stop and ask yourself what Obama would do? It wouldn’t be what is being said is this thread.

We all have the right to freedom of speech, but damn have some courtesy. This person was attacked and that is bigger than her personal politics.

Lets all support our public schools.

    • AC says:

Folk are not laughing at her for being a victim but for inventing A FAKE STORY.
      Jings……

    • LurkinMerkin says:

Duh, no she wasn’t, she made the whole thing up and the backwards B is the proof. It’s not like you have to be Encyclopedia Brown to figure it out.

    • genghiskhunt says:

Hi, maybe you should learn the story before you attempt to speak on it. She is NOT a victim, she is a mentally unstable individual who fabricated the entire story and scratched a B on her own face in the mirror.

Furthermore she was previously kicked out of the Ron Paul campaign for making similar claims about being attacked her for political affliation. I think the correct term for her would be attention wh*re.

As far as sympathy for her mental illness goes, well, she doesn’t get mine. Just as a crazy mother who drowns her children wouldn’t. Wrong is wrong, whatever the motivation.

The last thing our already divided nation needs is people running around scared of “big black obama supporters attacking innocent white women and mutilating them”. There’s been enough fear and hate mongering as is.

      • jmed says:

You’re right, I did not get the full story, that’s my fault for coming here first for a bit of levity instead of checking a real news site.

There is something that bothers me in your post and in this entire thread, it’s the hostility towards this woman. Being unsympathetic towards her is one thing, but this out right hostility.

No we don’t need hate mongering in this country (and hope that you’re not accusing me of that), but what is the difference between what she did and the image above along with the hostile comments towards her. If Wrong is wrong, you’re correct, what makes it right to slam a mentally ill person because of an action that has no victim other than herself.

I love this site, this image and caption just really threw me for a loop.

    • jmed says:

      K,

I hadn’t seen the report that she had faked it. I should check the real news in my spare time, but I still think this is going to far. The woman has a history of mental illness and this isn’t appropriate.

You know what a /b/tard is? Ever heard of Habbo? Habbo is an avatar hangout site. /B/tards are the dregs of 4chan, inhabitants of the B channel. Anonymous who went after the scientologists? It lives in /B/. One of the /b/tard’s favorite pastimes was to raid Habbo and stand by the ladder in the pool, preventing people from using it, yelling ‘Pools closed due to AIDS!’

4chan and /b/ are an important, if disgusting, part of Internet history and lore. Along with sites like slashdot and ebaum’s world, it was one of the earliest interactive, social websites. Many of the memes and phrases you hear on the Internet came from those sites.

This entire set of LOL sites sprang out of 4chan. In fact, the whole IDEA of lolcats came from 4chan. It’s important to know your history, folks.

    • LurkinMerkin says:

Actually, though I have already voted for Obama and against Prop 8, I don’t like that one. Seems like it’s giving ammunition to the other side, “see what those gay people do as soon as they have some rights”….. to rouse their base.

    • Seth says:

There is nothing to be gained from such a polarized attitude. We are in a tight spot and we need to pull together as a country. None of the candidates are evil. They will not destroy America. I truly believe they all love our country and want to make America a better place. They just have different ideas about how to do it. It’s awfully easy to demonize that which you don’t understand, and it is hard to understand how other Americans can have such different opinions from our own, but now is not the time to pit American hearts and minds against each other. When things are this serious, it’s time to act like grown-ups.

      • Except for Palin, she wanted to secede if I remember correctly or was that just her husband?

        • Uncle Fester says:

Being a good Christian wife, if the first Dude seceeds, then who is she to disagree?

          • froofrou says:

Christian wives are not doormats, people……unless that’s our particular kink :-)
Seriously though, it doesn’t say anywhere in the Bible where you have to be a doormat.

            • PortlandMark says:

What about that whole “submission to your husband” thing?

              • froofrou says:

Normally that entire text is taken out of context in order to force a view on people. The thing in its entirety is:

18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

21Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
                (Colossians 3)

That is the same type of limits on behavior as ‘an eye for an eye’. Women were expected to defer to the judgement of their husbands as the head of the household because the man is to be responsible for everything in the household, both in the eyes of God and the eyes of his neighbor. If the wife was acting like a shrew, that reflected badly on the entire household. The very next verse says that men are supposed to love their wives, which means that they WON’T treat them like doormats. Children are supposed to obey their parents for the same reason that wives ’submit’ to the husband, and it’s on the father to make sure he’s treating them all right so they don’t have a reason to act out or rebel.
                -
The man is ultimately responsible for the entire house, and will answer for the entire house on Judgement Day. Free will sucks for some people :-)
                -
It’s all in contextual reading and not trying to make the Scriptures say what you want them to say versus what they actually say.
                -
Bible lesson over for the day :-)

                • Still says he gives an order and she follows, love.

                  • wundawomun says:

…as is fitting in the Lord. If he tells her to do something that goes against her conscious it wouldn’t be right to tell her to do it. Now if Palin’s husband had a talk with her, asking her to pull out of the race, she should listen to what he has to say, pray about it & go from there. My reason for saying she should pull out if he wants her to is because of all the kids they have. They need their mom. But he shouldn’t have waited til now to object to the run either. (don’t know if/when he did) Once they knew she was being considered, he should’ve objected then.

                    • A lot of things were considered fitting and the book is written by man who says he was inspired by God. That is the thing. You interpret it to mean a cuddly huggy feeling which I really dig and use at home. However, others could feel justified as saying Iron My Shirt!!!

However, that said, what Christian woman would leave her husband over something he feels strongly about? And where do her loyalties lie? I am all for couples staying together but if the couple who is at least 50% against the country, then I don’t want either of them in charge.

Go ahead and say guilt by association but I will say that long term couples get along because they usually compromise. In that situation there isn’t much of a compromise. Besides, last I checked, she gave speeches at those rallies for that party. Can that be really defined as Country First?

I mean, don’t mind me, I am just babbling thoughts here but I find the association way too close for my comfort.

                  • ema says:

That doesn’t necessarily mean she becomes a doormat which is what froofou was pointing out. What’s in the bible are more like guidelines for a successful marraige. I’ve heard it explained this way – a man will respond more to respect while a woman will respond more to love so if they give each other what they need they have a better chance of staying together. That’s why the man is commanded to love the woman and not the other way around.

                • Confoozled says:

How DARE you try to contextualize holy scripture, and then apply common sense to it?

What is this world coming to?? Next thing, you’re going to try to situate the Bible in an historical context or something…sheesh.

    • ck says:

The one of McCain is fair game, but I think the Palin one went too far. He hasn’t carved up his face and lied about it though, has he?

      • ema says:

        He’s sane.

        • minerva146 says:

I agree that the mental illness thing is mighty convenient now that she’s been caught. How do we know she really has a history of anything other than racism? Somebody else also said that a crazy mom who drowns her kids still needs to stand up and be accountable for what she did. Promoting hate like this is just vile. I wouldn’t agree with it being done by either side. I also agree with Seth that we need to try to come together and not remain so polarized. This woman did exactly the opposite. She deserves to be held up as an example of the problems of polarization. The legacy of hate promoted by people like Jerry Falwell and Cheney/Rove, is the very worst thing that has happened to this country in many years, maybe ever. It creates rot from within. It’s this thinking we need to fix.

          • Um, we are talking about the hanging effigies in this thread. Crazy girl threads are a bit higher up. :D

            • minerva146 says:

she was refering to them being sane. Therefore it’s related, seeing as supposedly she was “insane” Perhaps I posted in the wrong place, but it still wasn’t an attack on ema.

        • ck says:

Has she been diagnosed as insane? And I mean LEGALLY and MEDICALLY diagnosed, not some ramblings from a stranger on a blog.

    • podgirl says:

Wow…everyone BEGGED ema to come up an example of something terrible that Obama supporters have done, and now that she has, no one wants to comment on the fact that she has? Thanks ema.
On the topic of this news story, this is a hate crime. I don’t care what the cops say, or who is in the noose. Showing a specific person hung is a hate crime. A halloween decoration is showing a fictional character, or a body with no identifyable (sp?) features.

      • ema says:

Thanks podgirl! You can see here that everytime I bring something up on the opposite side they change the subject and attack me. That’s why I don’t do it anymore…

        • Um ema… Reread the posts above and point out exactly who is attacking you. I just reread it twice and there is nothing there. There is a Guy Fawkes tangent. Lurkin stated it was uncalled for. Seth babbled. Where exactly is this attack you are fussing about?

          • ema says:

Maybe not attacking exactly, but refocusing the discussion back on the woman who cut her face instead of saying, well yea that is an example of someone on our side and just leaving it at that… I don’t want to spend all evening going back and forth with anyone on this I just wanted to make a simple point. EOD.

        • minerva146 says:

Nobody said anything attacking that I read either. They haven’t changed the subject much either. Most has just been showing why your argument is not valid. It’s called debate. I am not trying to pick on you. You seem like a nice girl, but you are really being closed minded about this. That’s all people are pointing out to you.

          • ema says:

Yes, you changed the subject back to what the women who cut her face did, instead of conceding the point to me, which you should have done.

            • minerva146 says:

No ema, I didn’t address the man at all. I addressed the fact that you insinuated he was sane, and therefore that she was not. Whoever made the effigies should be held accountable to some extent, agreed. However, whether in bad taste or not, that’s still a freedom of expression thing and not something anyone did to influence a campaign or disparage supporters of another candidate. It was not an attack on you, ot was a response to your question about sanity.

              • ema says:

Yes, but you jumped on the bandwagon that was going in that direction. You are even now defending what he did as freedom of expression, nice. You don’t think for one minute that what he is doing may be disparaging supporters of McCain? Or don’t those suporters count to you? Not to mention showing children how fun it is to disrespect elected members of our government. John McCain will still be a US Senator if he loses this election. You think that nutjob was trying to influence a campaign? She is completely nuts! So, please stop it now, ok? I’m finished.

                • minerva146 says:

“Not to mention showing children how fun it is to disrespect elected members of our government.”

I wasn’t doing that. Who is doing that, the guy with the effigy? I doubt the dumba$$ even thought that far ahead about it. I wasn’t defending the guy’s actions, I just was saying he has the right to be offensive, not that I don’t find it offensive. Jeez, ema, don’t put words in other’s mouths. The difference, as I said before, is that she was deliberately TRYING to disparage supporters of Obama, by perpetrating a fake hate-crime on herself. If you are unable to admit this to yourself, fine. That is not the same as having a disrespectful effigy of the actual candidates on your lawn. I still never attacked you, personally. I disagreed with you, that’s all.

                  • ema says:

Well I probably shouldn’t have used the word “attack”. I regret that, what I meant was putting me on the defensive when all I wanted to do was offer an example, since everyone had complained. I really didn’t want to be the bottom of a huge pile again like always because I don’t enjoy that. I come in here for entertainment, fun, comaraderie (I work at home!). This may not be the place for me to express opinions since I am so outnumbered here… I don’t think this guys thing is as bad as what the young woman did, but I do believe she is not in her right mind, so apples/oranges.

                    • minerva146 says:

Well, I am also sorry if I came off as pushy or something, The one post was probably in the wrong spot. It really wasn’t directed at you specifically. I do disagree with your politics, but you seem to be a nice person, so we can just agree to disagree. I get frustrated too, but even if you don’t agree, I hope you notice I at least TRY to add source material and apply logic to my arguments instead of just calling people names, etc.

                      • ema says:

Yes, you do, and I try to do the same as well. Unless I am really busy and don’t have time to argue! ;) Then I will just have to hold my tongue.

                    • froofrou says:

I can empathize with you ema, as far as being outnumbered. You’ve got at least one more of us in your corner, though. :-)

No, ’cause we’re scrappy too. ;)

Debating on forums is like competing in the Special Olympics…

You three are certainly a trifecta of conservatism, I’ll give you that. I refuse to say that you guys win outright, but there is some win involved. A large number of the conservative/pseudoconservatives on this site are tools — not even good tools, but the shitty ones that break the third time they’re used.

There is win in being part of the elite group of non-asshats on both sides. There will be ice-cream, double entendres, and much rejoicing.

                        • froofrou says:

I wish I could think of the name of this book I read a few months ago. You’d get a kick out of it because in this land that is Far Far Away, anything that happens in fairy tale canon happens in this world. In other words, if the underdogs have great odds against them, they win because that’s how it’s supposed to be. If the evil magician sets a spell over the land to where no man can pass, then the good guys send either a man named ‘Noman’ or a woman. Things like that. It’s really cute!
                          -
So going off that logic, since we are outnumbered and outmanned and the obvious underdogs, then we are BOUND to win because that’s how you get a happy ending! :-)

                        • eddiepscetti says:

Damn, I like your reasoning!! And hey, everyone loves a winner.. well, except for Dubya.. but that’s in a different volume.

        • jules says:

Actually there is a story about a man attacking a McCain supporter in NYC, it wasn’t a black man. Name links the article. Doesn’t change my mind either way, I think people can react badly on both sides. I’ve seen some of my republican friends go off their rocker and I’ve heard similar things from my democrat friends. It’s amazing how much hate politics stir up. I can’t wait for the election to be over.

      • Ummm couple problems there…

        1. Read the thread, nobody has attacked ema.

        2. We are discussing it.

        3. I am not sure why ema is going along with you since nobody is attacking her.

    • Sorry for not posting this sooner. Different thread usually puts me on different wavelengths. So yes, here is an example of a twit using an extreme demonstration to damage his cause.

    • DW says:

I think hanging Palin in effigy is completey unacceptable. I’ve said that already on this site today.

      • V says:

My you lot are a big bunch of big girls blouses… over here we’ve been burning Catholics in effigy for 400 odd years… some place still burn effigies of the Pope come Nov 5th…

        • LurkinMerkin says:

Yes, but in this country we have a specific history of lynching that refers to black men and white women and taints the whole thing. Hanging Obama would be unacceptable, so hanging Sarah should be, too. And for a gay guy to do it is shooting his people in the foot, since there is an anti-gay proposition on the ballot here in CA that just needs a lot of riled-up right-wingers making that extra effort to get to the polls.

        • It’s okay, you won’t be sober by the time we are done responding to you about how insults from the Emerald Isles have no real impact with us.

    • PortlandMark says:

Click my name for a link to the news story.

I’d have to agree with Ema on one point: this is beyond the boundaries of acceptable comment, imo. I wouldn’t laugh if it was Barack or Biden, so it would be wrong to find this funny.

Still, though, I find a difference in attitude between this small, somewhat effeminate man and his display and big bubbas shouting “N****R!” and “Terrorist!”: I believe they might do something about it. This little guy has just hit the outer boundary of his hateful behavior.

  14. Rontu says:

    Srsly.

    RTFT.

  15. cretarta says:

That chick just needs a good deep dicking to work out all her problems.

  16. Lennart Regebro says:

Really? That’s hilarious. When I saw the B and black eye, like an O, I thought, Barack Obama, and even made a (very bad) LOL about having “Obama” written in the face.

And now I read that the B indeed IS for Barack. Ha! Who would have thunk it.

    • Orangutan says:

      *facepalm*

She did it to herself. Carved up her face in the mirror, and neglected to take into account the fact that the mirror presents a reversed image. Did you REALLY not notice that the ‘B’ is backwards? Did you think, perhaps, that the fictitious carver is a proponent of the Toys R Us variety of alphabet?

      • Lennart Regebro says:

Yes, I know. Did I say otherwise? Are you even literate?

        • Chris says:

Apparently, yes, she carved the B into her face. It’s for Barack supposedly to make him look bad, but ended up looking bad for McCain.

But, I don’t see your point.

        • Orangutan says:

Yes, I am. With all the other people harping about how this was done to her, when it’s been debunked, I jumped to a conclusion about your post. It sounded to me like you were one of those people who assumed it was legit. My bad.

  17. Rach says:

This is not funny. Take it down.

  18. Ceefax says:

Well, I made this joke in an earlier thread, then made the LOL, but it was this one that made the site – C’est la vie!

  19. eddiepscetti says:

“Tell me, does the black eye look too obvious?”

  20. Rontu says:

Although she is clearly full of shit, has anyone stopped to ask just what “mental illness” she claims to have?

Or is she saying she’s just generally crazy?
Crazy does not absolve you of personal responsibility.

    Neither does stupid.

And stupid is as stupid does.

  21. buddha obrien says:

    maybe it’s smackin….maybe it’s maybelline

  22. Darnity says:

    Someone should gangbang her

  23. Puke-a-hontas says:

Maybe when you say who it is in the picture, you should say who it is in the picture. WTF is the story here?

    • Christine says:

Puke-a-hontas, meet Google. Google, meet Puke-a-hontas. Now that you are properly introduced, you can go on to become great friends.

  24. Ceefax says:

See they’ve sunk to yet another new low by distributing flyers in low income neighbourhoods in Virginia trying to convince people that there has been a change to the rules and anyone who wants to vote Democrat should turn up to vote on the 5th instead of the 4th. (click my name for details)

Can’t have too many people voting now, can we? That’d be too much like democracy and might make you guys lose.

  25. minerva146 says:

They did this in 2004 in Ohio. I’m not really surprised they are doing it again. Funny how they want to rail on about ACORN to cover their activities, eh?

    • vervain says:

Indeed. A significant portion of the right seems to have adopted the tactic of accusing the left of doing what they themselves are doing–without irony. You almost have to admire the extreme level of cognitive dissonance required to pull this off. It’s rather impressive.

  26. Green Is Good says:

Well, she got her 15 minutes of fame. Now, when will she be joining the “Darwin Awards” club?

  27. Ele-yah says:

How many Stupid Insane People does it take to turn a Republican election lightbulb?

    None.

They can just rig it all by themselves actchewerly

  28. irishguy says:

you guys are idiots, this is a horrible thing to happen to her…

if anything, they should have the picture of the obama supporter who made the “B” and caption it “FAIL”

    • Ceefax says:

Are you joking or have you been living under a rock? She’s admitted making up the report and making the B on her face herself.

      • jules says:

Apparently irishguy ignored half the comments. It’s understandable though, it’s really tough to read something with your head jammed in your anus.

  29. Bimmy says:

Wanna know how I got these scars?

  30. Amb says:

I only read a few of the comments before giving up and writting my own.
My family has a long history of mental illnesses, and some have told me that the chance of me having at least one a severly high.
And I laugh at this fact.
See, people being emotionally distraught and what not is sad. If your friend cuts themselves, or your family member is starting to scare you with some of thier ideas? Bad.
If some chick tries to get attention by carving a B in her face? It’s fucking hillarious.
I LOVE how stupid people can be, and they’ll still have supporters. Even the supporters have to admit, it IS a little silly.
I think my only question is, what’s with her eye? Did she run head first into a play structure or something?
