Stinks
Yep, this is a stupid LOL.
…but it does bag on conservatives, so of course it’s on the pundit kitchen. Yay for blatant bias!
Bias by whom? The people who vote for these?
Well, congrats, Captain Obvious.
Like a blog that specializes in sticking misspelled captions on pictures has some sort of obligation to remain unbiased anyway.
Whine more. These are user submitted and user voted lols…. It’s less about bias and more about a lack of clever conservatives. Hey, its not our fault you’re a bunch of towel snapping cretin ex-jocks who’s sense of humor never made it past “fag” jokes in highschool….
The difference here is that he became a LEGAL citizen and was a LEGAL immigrant.
That’s because the Liberal definition of “legal” is “I want to do it” and their definition of “illegal” is “I don’t want you to do it.”
That’s a negative there, ghost rider. The leftist definition of legal is “whatever you want” and the conservative definition is “what the law says”
Oh, and based on your logic, California should be loaded with people who support the right to own high-powered assault rifles.
“and the conservative definition is “what the law says””
Isn’t Scooter Libby a conservative?
And Bush & Co (illegal war, illegal interogation tactics, illegal wiretapping), and most of the execs of those large corps defrauding the people, and that fella up in Alaska, and etc…
Seems like the Liberal definition is “whatever doesn’t kill or maim people” and the Conservative definition is “whatever we write it to be today.”
Shame on you and your logic!
*puts on mascara and gets on youtube video crying*
LEAVE ARNIE ALONE!!! HE IS TEH AWESUM!!!
Haha! *snort* I was amused. Of course, I’m a californian so I experienced what a joke the recall election and his time in office has been.
I’ve always ignored California so I never keep up with his term as Governor, just thought it was an awesome concept. So his term has been a joke then?
You betcha!
Yep, of course as soon as he said “Hasta La Vista, Davis!!” I knew it was all over.
I’m not a california native, but I think I’ve to some extent become Californianized since I had a knee jerk reaction of suprise and mild indignation to “I’ve always ignored California”. My native Massachusettsian loves to grumble at Californians for thinking they’re the center of the universe. Of course, Massachusetts thinks the rest of the country owes it for everything.
LOL, well in my pathetic defense, California seems to have homosexuals, movie stars, forest fires, and very liberal government. All of which I try not to bring into conscious thought that often. Speaking of which, how much do you give a damn about Iowa?
And oddly enough, I think I am starstruck by Arnie cuz that just sounds awesome to me.
you try not to think about homosexuals consciously/
what are you avoiding DMN?
The fact that I am a moderator in a thread on Gaia with a high population of transgendered and gay people so I talk to them all the time. That coupled with the fact that guy on guy is repellant to me. I am cool with people being gay but for me, it might as well be scat porn. Have fun but I want no part of it.
That and the San Fran Pride parade as well as all the obnoxious gay characters in the media…. Well, after a while I just avoid them since I have to be around them so often where I am helping mod. So I almost never stop hearing about them.
Nice try though, I already experimented and found that the act and idea repels me. Still, nice try.
Wow… I’m ashamed to live in the same state as you. Please, if you’re going to be throwing around blatantly homophobic comments, at least pretend you’re from Missouri.
O_o… God you’re dumb.
I said I don’t like watching guy on guy and I am sick of the stereotype being flung at me constantly. Otherwise I get along just fine with them. Overreact much?
its ok, i’ve found out recently that a lot of gay guys don’t know how to read… it makes me sad since books are higher on my scale of awesomeness than sex….
where are the cute gay librarians/ thats who i’d wanna date…
That would be cool. A slight built guy who is a bit shy with a nose for good books. I can see that being a valuable find in the dating pool. Unless you want a bigger librarian.
I think that might be the plot to a Yaoi Manga already…
I wouldn’t be surprised and even less surprised if my son’s Fairy God Mother has already read it. She is a very devouted yaoi fan.
My second job is in a bookstore. Yaoi is the bane of our existance because they are usually supposed to be wrapped in plastic (explicit content) and damn teenagers are constantly unwrapping them and giggling over them and then we have to fish them off the shelves and rewrap them before the fun starts all over again. Grrrrrr.
Haha, wow, I seem to miss the yaoi in the manga sections when I go to the bookstore. However, we have a big convention devoted to yaoi every year in san jose. I’ve never been, but from what I hear, it’s quite something…
It is like deep water with Cthulhu. I know it is there, I just avoid it.
How would you like it if some gay guy came along and said the same stuff about straight sex? Wait, it probably wouldn’t bother you. Know why? Because when you hear stuff like that it is almost never paired with violence and death threats and “OMG YOU’RE GOIN 2 HELL BREEDER LOLOL.”
I mean, unless some gay guy actually hits on you? Who cares what you think of gay sex? I think Galileo and Copernicus have pretty conclusively proven that the universe does not revolve around you.
Don’t make me smack you for not being able to read. DWM has never even come CLOSE to implying what you’re saying about him. Geez, learn to read a thread…….or at least keep quiet until you’re sure the person about whom you are speaking actually holds those views which you have pasted onto his forehead.
thanks froofrou! i normally only come on this site while at work, but i just decided to check from home. if i’d known DWN would get called a homophobe i never would’ve started this thread….
Thanks ya’ll. I feel the love and it feels pretty damn good. Hugs all around. *hugs the froofrou and tego*
I’ve actually never been hit on by gay men. I don’t have the look they are going for. I am a long haired and bearded dude with a perpetual scowl. I did walk into a gaffe while talking before. A guy who was talking to me at a gas station mentioned that I had a big cup. I chuckled and stated that my family was known for big things, feet, ears, etc with the obvious perverted commented being implied. Then I got a look at him and saw the manhungry predatory grin on his face and realized that he was of bigger than me and prison rapist size.
I think I might have paled a bit, not because he was gay, but because he was bigger than me with a glint of buggery thinking to his eyes. I managed not to look like a scared rabbit for too long, gave a clever smirk, wished him a good evening and left.
Not often that I feel small at 6′ 3″ but it is a funny memory since I walked right into it by being a prat making an implied wang comment. That little guy I told you about was with me and gave me all sorts of hell. Good times even though I was the joke.
You sound hawt
<3
Thanks love. Your name sounds fun.
I stalked you on Gaia.. because I couldn’t help it.
Well hopefully you had fun.
I decided that you are indeed handsome. Which is fun, in its own right.
O_O *blushes* Thanks hun. ^_^
Aww! You made the O_O face!
Ok, I’ll quit harassing you now. It was fun, though.
Nah, just a bit shocked. You aren’t harassing me. I am glad you had fun though. Besides with the dirty things I say here, I am not in a position to be too shy.
i’m queer and i agreed with all of his comments, except for the man action one, i obviously love the man action….
And you are most welcome to all the man sex you can handle. Make orgasms not war. We have way bigger problems than who you are sleeping with.
Because Im filling in for captain obvious….. in bed…
HEY! Double meaning! Wooo!
Also… DMN? M is nowhere near the W key? *blinks*
DMN- slight dyslexia on my part….
and I was joking. Trust me, I share a one room studio with a straight roomate, i’m ALL about respecting hetero boundaries, although I did bribe him with a beer once to make out with me in a bar to piss off this redneck homophobe i knew, it started a fist fight that I won(with the redneck, not the roomate). *GRINS*
i hate pride parades, i’m proud of who i am and what i’ve done in my life, and i’m proud of the work i’ve done to further gay rights (AKA equal rights) but DAMn pride parades are just gross. You know in the northeast there’s this new fad to have gay pride family festivals? no drag queens, no penis floats, no drunken strung guys humping each other. It’s like a big family festival for same-sex couples and thier kids, only it’s open to EVERYONE, so it’s not so much “gay” pride as “family” pride, I think that’s freakin RAD.
and don’t get me started on media portrayls of gay people. There like maybe two i enjoy, one them is brand new too, Lafeyette on HBO’s True Blood, especially the AIDS burger scene….freakin genius…
Oh I know, just been a long day. No worries. I would honestly love to go to a parade like that. I knew a guy who would have been a big burly guy like his day but had a kidney infection as a child that stunted his growth. Well…
It made him into a doll of a guy. He had pretty red hair, big brown eyes, and freckles. I am straight and I thought he was adorable. Pride Parades in Minneapolis made that boy HOMOPHOBIC as hell. He doesn’t hate them but is almost terrified of them. After a while, he just stayed indoors when those were going on because every drunken fag and his uncle was hitting on him, with hitting on him being a weak term.
So ya, the typical pride parade just grates on my nerves and the fad gays are also painful to my brain. I know a lesbian who was an awesome mother but lost the baby she had custody of because she was gay and divorced her wife. Since gay couples can’t have proper rights, she lost that boy. It was… Heartbreaking to see her like that, he was her world.
But yea, I would love to see a family parade about equal rights not stereotypes. The funny thing about this exchange is that in that thread, I am helping a gay 18 year old learn about BDSM so he reports to me and apparently has a strong crush on me. X_X.
Ah, the joys of awkward situations. Luckily, I can cuddle my girl at home and relax. If I get HBO, I will try to check out True Blood, thanks for the suggestion.
True Blood is based on Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse books, which are good. However the character of Lafayette is not in them much.
Ah, well I might pick them up if I remember next time I have money. X_X
i like the direction the show is taking, i read all the books leading up to the show. i know lafayette had like 4 lines in the books, but i fucking adore him in the show. i knew alan ball would take it somewhere new when he killed off the villians of the second novel in the second episode (via a brief newscast, no spilers there)
Wow.. now I like you even more.
BDSM is FUN!
Careful, you’ll make me blush. My girls tend to think it is fun too.
And PK ate my post… Give it time, I suppose.
waits…
*brings popcorn and homemade cornflake candy, gives some and waits too*
That sounds interesting. I live in San Francisco, have a lot of gay friends and coworkers (when you’re inclassical music, that’s inevitable), and as much as in principle I support Pride marches, I do think the people who get overtly sexual out in public are kind of giving ammo to homophobes who like to claim homosexuals are perverse and sexed crazed. I personally don’t care that much, but it’s like “come on people, are penis floats really necesary?”. The only march I’ve participated in was the Boston Youth Pride parade with the GSA at school, since it was a youth event it was rather PG, with a focus on respect and acceptance.
Gay marriage should be between a man and a woman. Ahnold says so and I endorse this message
What? LOL.
Hehe, well, Iowa has grown on me since they helped launched Barack, and I have a college friend who lives right on the Iowa/Illinois border now so, it crosses my mind more now. Though, when she first moved there, more than one of us gave her a hard time about it “what the heck is in IOWA??”
California has all those things, though, I wouldn’t say an uncategorically liberal government. Lately out here everything feels like a circus, or a clusterfuck perhaps. Local bay area governments are very liberal, but tend to talk a big liberal talk rather then get much of what we elected them to do done. In some senses, I think Massachusetts is more liberal than California. California has more wacky, liberal people, but Massachusetts has no tax on clothing (since it’s a necesity) and no death penalty, both things I like about it.
Eh I am actually for a death penalty if they get the right guy. As for liberal, I find that more pointless lawsuits happen under very liberal laws and I shouldn’t be afraid to speak to people so I dislike it.
As for Iowa, ya, I suspect that Obama won’t need my vote since Iowa will probably vote for him anyway.
Do you mean lawsuits related to things people say? Like harassment lawsuits, etc? I agree that the whole country is a little sue-happy, though I’m thinking more along the lines of people suing mcdonalds for making them fat.
I like living here because people are less uptight, and it’s more of a live and let live culture. I like living around diversity of every type crammed together, very different from the sleepy suburbs where I grew up.
And now now now Iowa’s a swing state so every vote counts (though part of me hesitates to say that in case you’d vote mccain)
Nah I wouldn’t vote McCain, not my bag. I just prefer to avoid dealing with Lawyers in general despite how much I think like one.
Obama is a lawyer too.
They are all lawyers…
A great many of them, yes.
It is why I don’t have personal dealings with politicians.
Jefferson was a lawyer… Lincoln was a lawyer…
I avoid dealing with them too. Since they’re dead and all. I probably wouldn’t get along with any lawyer, past or present. Sure they have the capacity for greatness but I don’t usually see it in the run of the mill lawyer nowadays.
gah, I responded but PK seemed to eat my post, it’ll appear eventually I guess.
Bah, in case my post is gone for good I’ll just repeat it. One of my college friends lives on the Iowa-Illinois border, and I now have a soft spot of Iowa for propelling Obama forward, so Iowa does cross my mind more often now. Still, the girls and I could not resist hassling my friend when she moved “What the heck is in IOWA???”
California does have those things, as well as some awesome weather, amazing natural beauty, and great restaurants. The liberal goverment is a bit questional though. At the state level, the state senate is on the liberal side, but Ahnold, not so much, and I don’t see any improvement in our financial situation since took office. The local goverment in the bay area is definetely liberal, but in my opinion, they talk a big liberal talk, but aren’t all that effective. Some measures passed during our last election though that when they kick in, will make a big difference. In some ways I think MA is actually more liberal. For example, they don’t have sales tax on clothes (since they’re a necesity, like groceries) and no death penalty there, things I agree with.
and of course, when I repost, my original appears.
Indeed and I don’t think about MA either. I’m just a jerk I guess. I prefer to avoid either coast.
Hahaha, you’re not a jerk. I suppose it goes both ways since people on the coasts tend to avoid the middle, with the exception of Chicago maybe. Massachusetts is especially snobby, though the South is the main object of mockery for new englanders (and I’m sure it goes both ways there, so I don’t feel that badly about it).
Well I was raised in MS so that might have a bit to do with it too. When I see people literally name drop their lawyers like thugs pull knives, I knew I didn’t need to be there.
Wow, seriously? When and where was that? I’ve never had that happen to me, and I agree with you that that’s just unsettling.
Plus I wonder, who can afford to have an official attorney? Jeez.
Technically it was in PA but that was close enough to the coast for me. We were at a McDonald’s and apparently this one guy bumped another one too many times. Next thing I know is.
“Touch me again, my lawyer would love it…” And the guy who we were with acted like it was normal. So yea, I kept my mouth shut and enjoyed the October scenery til we went back home.
And by love it, what I really mean is he masturbates to personal injury depositions.
I feel dirty now… *shudders*
Doesnt everyone?
Haha! Wow, that’s unusual (and I sort of want to shower now). I do agree that alot of people who file personal injury lawsuits are insufferable. My dad was in a car accident in MA in which this woman driving a huge tank of a van rammed into him on his left side. She then got out of the car hopping around pretending she was injured and hollering at him, when she side-swiped him, was on the opposite side of a huge van whereas my dad was in a saab sedan. She tried to take him to court for injuries, she was not successful.
In Massachusetts (and here in CA) too, my experience has been that everyone tends to be a little uncivilized and push and shove in crowded places, so law suits for things like that are more difficult.
Ugh, ya. It is why I try to avoid overly liberal parts of the country. The arrogance is high and the lawsuits ridiculous.
“Of course, Massachusetts thinks the rest of the country owes it for everything.”
You say that like it’s not mostly true.
Hahaha, well, I think it is, but ya know, I wussed out of saying that cause I was afraid what I might start, but here we go, I said it! Let chaos ensue!
Pff. Everyone knows that New York is FAR more important than either Massachusetts or California.
Ooooh! Oh no you didn’! We’re where the American Revolution started!!!
It’s the battle to determine which state is superior! Let’s get ready to RUUUUUMMBBBLLLLEEE!
*dons his Red Sox cap*
Uh oh, y’all better not underestimate the power of a devout red sox fan!
I am a New York Mets fan! The only thing I fear is the month of September!!
Davis was a commie and needed to be removed. He ran on (suprise) blatant, bald faced lies, and didn’t even wait a week before going back on almost every single one of his campaign “promises.” I’m not always real wild about Arnold, but at least he TRIED to reform things and got screwed by the voters. Also, a monkey with a hair cut would have made a better governor than Davis.
Right, so what was your rationale for not throwing Wilson out too?
I’m a dem. and I like him. I voted against the recall and voted for Camejo and in the Govenator 2nd election also voted for Camejo knowing that Arnold was going to win…
I like him. He done some very liberal things for the state. Some very environmentally friendly bills and concepts for the state.
California is conservative? Schwarzenegger is conservative? Complaining about illegal immigration immediately equates with irrational xenophobia? All those together make irony? Cue Avril Lavigne song.
If they were to cut California in half about 100 miles south of Sacramento, San Francisco and Berkeley would be the only safe-havens for liberal voters… The reason California tends to be more of a blue state is because the majority of California’s citizens live in Southern California.
Erm, actually, southern California is MORE conservative than northen California. The way California is laid out is the along the coast is densely populated and very liberal, central california and the more inland sections tend to be more conservative. I and many others think Northern California and southern California should be separate states, especially since I blame southern California for voting for Arnold in the first place.
L.A. tends to be liberal, but other socal places like Bakesfield (the armpit of california in my opinion) or Orange County are cerainly not. Northern California is more liberal over all. Southern California also I think has the biggest clamor over illegal immigration, though it is a constant topic of discussion throughout.
Yeah, SF is definitely the most liberal part of the state. LA and SoCal are divided pretty evenly.
Do you mean Alanis Morissette?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8v9yUVgrmPY
The irony is that song isn’t full of irony.
Ya, I believe Pop up video stated it was a song about a bunch of bummers.
No, the irony is that I was actually referring to an Avril Lavigne song that, although you couldn’t tell, actually had nothing to do with the situation.
That’s not irony either.
Does anyone know the meaning of Irony?
or is it Ironic that no-one knows the meaning of irony?
The only irony I know of for sure, is that the only irony in Alanis
Morissette’s song was that none of the ironies were ironies.
Yeah, actually, it *does* equate with irrational xenophobia. Don’t believe me? When someone says “illegal immigrant,” what image flashes into your mind?
If it’s a Mexican, you’ve got a problem.
It doesn’t take much to become an “illegal immigrant.” And it happens to white immigrants as well as Latinos. Guess which one’s more likely to be harassed by the INS? Or random conservative Californians?
Sadly most people do think of mexicans… however it quite easy to become to come “illegal”… if you come here on a school visa or a visit visa and never go home you illegal, If you are here on a school visa and you work, your’re illegal…
and the people coming to mind are not Mexican, but Asian, Indian, and European.
Haha, so awesomely true and funny!!!
Arnold never bothered to learn English either and it’s obvious he’s getting along just fine!
Most importantly though, how can anyone be “illegal” for just existing in our country? It’s a fact that the Nazis called Jews “illegal” during the Holocaust. Consider that!
Having an accent does not equate never learning English. He’s actually got quite a command of the language.
Illegal immigration does not equate Holocaust, we don’t mass murder immigrants in gas chambers and such. Consider that.
maybe we should, teach them a lesson.
you would probably die of starvation because most of them are at the base of how nearly every American gets their food.
pick up a book instead of spreading ignorant blather…
although this is PK… who am I kidding?
you are disgusting. i’d rather teach you a lesson.
p.s i’m not saying that “illegal” immigration is the same as the Holocaust, but obviously you’re blinded by your conservative beer goggles to see my point. My point IS that the mentally that immigrants are “illegal” for simply existing in our country is getting dangerously close to the mentality Nazis had about the Jews..
BTW, that English thing about the Governator was a joke. Yet another concept you didn’t get because conservatives have no sense of humor. What are you doing perusing this site anyway?
We have no sense of humor as conservatives? I’m laughing my head off that you think that because I believe in an efficient government you think I live under a rock and don’t enjoy things like PK. And I’m all for immigrants coming into this country. If they would like to come into the country legally, I welcome them. I believe that we should be an open society, but that doesn’t mean I believe immigrants who disrespect our laws should be given the same privileges of citizenship as those who have sworn themselves to obey our laws through processes like naturalization.
WTF this “efficient government” business? Do you think our government’s efficient now?
Actually no, I don’t. And I think under a democrat it gets worse, specifically FDR, he was the first to go outside of a constitutionally limited government and it all went downhill from there. I don’t think the current government is efficient, nor do I think it will be under McCain. But it will be far worse under Obama.
I think we should deport people to countries not where they came from. Illegal Mexicans? Deport them to Colombia! Brazillians? To Chile! Basically, set the goal back every time.
Oh, and Canadians? To Russia.
Send Mexicans to Siberia and Canadians to Quam. Really mix it up.
No, you just shoot them in the back.
Godwin Fail.
You’re goin’ down.
Yea, it is complicated, but I don’t think an Arvil Lavigne song is going to help. Arnold considers himself a conservative , so where’s the confusion in that? There’s also plenty of conservatives complaining EVERYWHERE. No denying that one. Without a doubt, complaining about “illegal” immigration does equate irrational xenophobia. There is NO evidence that immigrants are taking jobs from Americans. Do you see “Juan Gomez” from Ecuador applying for your job? No, he’s working his ass off to build a house or clean your yard. Are those jobs you hear a lot of people clamoring for? No, in fact, immigrants do jobs at a lower pay than any American would or could for that matter when it comes to minimum wage. Until we fix the relationship between our own market and “illegal immigrant” work flow, things will never change. And they really need to . . .
Ever read ‘Fast Food Nation’? Thanks to the influx of illegal (as in snuck across the border instead of applying for a visa) immigrants willing to work for less than minimum wage, along with automation, union butchers who were skilled workers were replaced. Now our meat is much filthier, workers are losing limbs, and the US Citizens who DO work there are afraid to file for Worker’s Comp because the company will find some BS way to retaliate. After all, they can be replaced by an illegal.
Oh, and I live in CA and have never in my life voted Republican.
Perspective: Come from a small town, in NE, and the town up the road opened a meatpacking plant (IBP?)- this was 15 years ago, and the situation has just gotten worse, and now this plant is leaving. At IBP, the local politicians came in and basically said we are so desperate for jobs in our rural little town (~6000 pp), that you will not have to pay taxes for 10 years, among other things. So they moved in, and it was well documented that they posted directions to this town 1600 miles away from the border, on the Mexican and US sides of the border advertising jobs. They ended up building a “company” town of trailer houses, that they charged $400/mo to live in per person, and provided almost no health care. The jobs that the local politicians were so eager for they forgot to regulate, never appeared- less than 10% of the employees were locals. And only 1/5 of the cars exiting off the interstate from Mexico ended up getting a job at the plant (this was an estimate by local NGO- not sure how calculated)- the rest ended up on the local welfare system- that IBP was not paying into with the tax breaks…so are these jobs that locals would have taken? I think in this case, yes- it was small town, and $10/h is livable back home, at least if your spouse also works (not well, but you can survive, and many pp were desperate for jobs, as I said). So who is the problem? The immigrants for coming? Wanting better than they had at home? The locals who were not given the jobs? Or the corporation who knew that locals would not put up with the crappy health care, shoddy safety, and also would know better than to pay 1/2 their paycheck back to the company in “rent”? Think this is the exception? Think again- meatpacking in this country was not ruined by illegals- it was ruined by corporations that do not want to treat their workers humanely- and illegal immigrants are a lot easier to abuse then Americans.
Um, duh. I never said the company was in the right. I was responding to Jackie’s comment that illegals don’t take jobs from Americans. My point is if this workforce was unavailable, which isn’t going to happen because we’re too saturated with them now and there’s no way in hell we can deport them all, the companies would have a much harder time pulling that sort of thing. Not to say it doesn’t happen to US citizens, but as the Supreme Court decision ruled, illegals have no right to sue for unpaid overtime, job protection, etc because they have no right to work here.
Picture this…you live in a small town in Central California which is still primarily agricultural. You are a skilled carpenter/plumber/electrician. You wind up coming to the Welfare department (where I worked for several years) because you used to work at Union wages, but now you can’t because contractors hire illegal aliens that they don’t have to pay more than minimum wage, if that. You finished your training and apprenticeship like Union construction workers have to, which is why you were paid higher wages. Or you worked in agricultural type jobs (yes, citizens still do, my parents did, my grandparents, etc ) but they won’t hire you now for the same reasons…they might have to pay you minimum wage.
Do I blame the immigrants personally? No, of course not. Do I blame them for wanting a better life, even though many of them admit they’re just saving up money to move back to Mexico? No. Do I see them as a big issue that affects our working poor, our health care system, and our social services? Oh yes. And the core point for me is they’re not here legally. They are breaking the law, they know they are, yet it took years for our good friend’s German wife who moved here legally and was on a visa to get her green card, then naturalized. They had to jump through so many hoops, and if she was caught for a misdemeanor they could deny it and send her home. I guess it was her hard luck she didn’t come from somewhere she could just swim across.
By the way, if an illegal immigrant uses your Social Security number (which I saw frequently) have fun trying to straighten it out with Social Security and the IRS.
So the obvious answer is to change immigration law. Because they’re just going to keep coming here, and treating them as subhuman isn’t going to change anything.
If Germany were right next door we’d be seeing illegal German immigrants too. We already have Canadians here, you can bet your life on it. How come nobody is complaining about them?
Hey, she could have tried to stay here just on her visa and hoped INS would overlook her, like a lot of the illegal immigrants. Instead she chose to do it legally and get treated like she was a member of the SS or something. Again, I blame the immigrants for the same reason I blame people who steal cars… it’s illegal, they know it. Maybe car thieves should start saying they took it because they needed to greatly improve their lives…someone should write the prisons and suggest that. Parolees should march.
Why are you blaming the immigrants? When was the last time you got a job just because you wanted one? The company had to decide to hire you, right?
We should be deporting Tyson and Perdue, not Mexicans.
Arnold’s a fiscal conservative. That’s about it.
And we had a good temporary worker program until Ceasar Chavez demanded that low-skill seasonal day workers be treated like something other than low-skill seasonal day workers.
Bastard.
Does this person think Arnold is governor of Texas?
Thus spake Bender, “that’s not ironic, it’s coincidental!”
The Mexicans are only taking the jobs that we should be forcing poor people to take in order to earn their welfare checks.
OMG!! Somebody finally had the guts to say it!! Thanks YumYum
-___-
The only place where can you get welfare without working for it, or being disabled is Wall Street.
Uh- what planet are you from ? Just visiting ?
Hello bailout?
I am a self described liberal, and I agree- but it is exactly that demographic that will NOT take those jobs, but that bitch about illegal immigrants taking their jobs…I grew up in Nebraska, and young teenagers did the work that immigrants do in California- we detassled corn, etc. It was HARD, it was HOT, and it was physically demanding- and we worked for 6-8 weeks a summer for about $3-500. I did that for 3 years before I could get a real part time job- and it sure did not hurt to motivate me to end up getting a PhD…but to put in perspective, we only worked from about 4 am to 10-11 am, because it got too hot. The immigrants here seem to work from 4 am to 4-6 pm- I am amazed at their work ethic, and frankly would like to see some if that kind of work ethic in the young college graduates that want to work for me. If you are not very careful who you hire, many (not all- I have an excellent staff of young people) will spend all of their time telling you what they want to be doing instead of doing what you ask them to.
So when we start requiring the young men whose girlfriends are on welfare to take care of their children (and these come in every color of the rainbow) to get their rear ends out into the fields from 4 am to 6 pm in August, well then we can begin to discuss illegal immigration- until then, I just here blah blah blah whenever the topic is brought up.
Amen to almost everything you just said.
The problem w/illegal immigration is it’s bankrupting the system. Have you ever considered that the increase in health care cost coincided with the increase in illegal immigrants. If you go to an ER, they have to treat you, and someone has to pay for that. Add the rising cost of malpractice insurance thanks to lawyers, and Voila! Expensive health care! The other problem with unrestricted border traffic is the resurgence of diseases (especially tuberculosis) that were gone in the US.
But also, without the current illegal immigrants, the economies of several of the south west states would be battered.
Malpractice is not caused by lawyers. It is caused by bad doctors.
There are lots of reasons the cost of healthcare is going up and illegal immigration’s a drop in the bucket. Ever stop to think that with so many factory jobs being exported (did Mexicans cause that too?) and so many new jobs in the U.S. not offering health benefits, that a lot more U.S.-born Americans are having to go without insurance?
We’re going to have a resurgence of disease anyway. It’s called drug resistance, ever heard of it?
Si
Wouldn’t forcing people to take jobs they don’t want or cannot do be inconsistent with the whole “freedom” thing our country is based on?
But then again, so much these days is.
Yeah, you mean the one who came here on a Visa, learned English and became a US Citizen?
And, as a conservative in this state (who knows it’s not about the jobs they supposedly steal) I can say Arnold is a hack. He’s much, MUCH more liberal than conservative. The latest round of budget talks prove that. Tax and spend…
I voted for State Senator McClintock, so there. ^_^
Tax and spend beats the hell out of borrow and spend. How’s doing the governmental version of maxing out credit cards “fiscal conservatism”?
Day tuk yer jerb!

How about we try Mexico’s immigration laws:
1. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, and all government business will be conducted in our language.
2. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote, no matter how long they are here.
3. Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.
4. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, nor any other government assistance programs.
5. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
6. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed to own waterfront property. That property is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.
7. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no “bad-mouthing” our president or his policies. If you do you will be sent home.
8. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.
Interesting…
“Waterfront property”, lolololol.
Turns out you can get waterfront property only by leasing it from a bank, more or less. A 99 year lease from what I read. I’m sure there are plenty nice places to live in Mexico. For me though, they all involve a beach.
We do not have a language- so first you would have to get English as the official language passed- and I am probably insane, but I think they have tried and failed to do that a couple of times?
Has it ever been up for a vote? I have no idea. I’ve heard the idea discussed, but never about it getting set up for a vote. I’m sure the main obstacle would be organizations like the ACLU saying that it is racist, xenophobic, etc, etc, etc.
Yes- Bush wimped out and had it declared the “National language” which has no legal meaning at all. Had it been named the ” Official language”, everything would be printed only in English.
It has. McCain voted for it.
Well, my friends, if people could speak English properly then maybe they could declare it the official language….
glad I’m from Peru
That actually makes me appreciate America more, and having some personal experience in Japan, I really appreciated afterwards how truly unique America is in that you can’t have a clear view of who an “outsider” is. Anyone can be an American, and in the minds of decent people anyway, it doesn’t have anything to do with race. Japan for instance is so homogeneous, that it’s clear who “doesn’t belong”. I know westerners who have lived and worked in Japan for some time now and still feel treated like ‘outsiders’. That’s not to say in my experience anyone treated me badly, or that all Japanese people agree with the whole “us-them mentality”. I was treating with some pretty amazing hospitality while I was there.
I think that if you’re going to live in America and make it your home, learn English, if I was going to live in any other country, I would be expected to learn the language and I’d try my hardest. I studied Japanese before going, and studied everyday there even though I was only there for 5 weeks.
I am however, fine with multi-lingual ballots etc. Even if you’ve become a U.S. citizen and speak English reasonably well, when reading intense legal language, it’s easier to understand in your native tongue. Hell, I have a hard enough time understanding some of the legal language I’ve had to read in my native language.
I fully support that.
So you don’t believe that ‘all men are created equal’?
Actually some people I was with did have the american flag out & wore a bandana on their head with the flag imprinted on it & nobody said anything when we were there & we were deep in Mexico.
Sure, if you want us to wind up like Mexico.
And take that “our language” crap and stuff it. I’m not English. I’m sixth-generation American, but my ancestry’s French. Native Americans didn’t start out speaking English either. In fact, English-speaking colonists were in the minority when this country was founded.
E Pluribus Unum. That is our motto. Remember? Sheeit, it ain’t even in Anglish!
Jackie, what do you live under a rock?
It is about jobs to some people, youd be suprised how skilled some of these illegals are, ask someone who works in construction.
You can find them in front of the Home Depot before 7 a.m.
Years ago, I actually saw a black guy sitting with the illegals looking for work. I almost wrecked my car staring. I later asked someone about it who worked at Home Depot, and he said ” Oh- that guy? He was trying to sell drugs to them”.
yes they stand on the street corners and home depots but they are also getting into construction companies with fake identities and forged documents, they work cheaper than american skilled laborors (who dont have college educations but alot still went to trade school and are licsensed, they are the ones that deserve to get paid fairly), so guess whos out of a job? the contractors that hire them are to be blamed, alot know these people are frauds, and some pay them under the table, which guess what then!? the illegals arent paying their share of taxes, but still reaping the benifits of our healthcare and education, I love when liberals pull that shit, you think the laborors on the street are paying taxes morons?
“The only ones that deserve to get paid fairly”? You do realize that if all people, even illegal immigrants, were paid “fairly” then there would be no incentive to hire illegal immigrants over workers born in America, right?
You lose?
Everyone in this country who does any kind of financial transaction ever, at all, pays taxes sooner or later. Even “illegals” pay sales taxes. If they rent homes of any kind here, they pay property taxes too.
White people: The ultimate illegal immigrants. When are y’all gonna start speaking Lakota or Navajo or Mohawk and living like Native Americans? Better yet, go back to Europe.
And a base whining about “Hollywood elitists”….
SCHWARZENEGGER FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!
WE ELECT HIM TO LEAD! NOT TO READ!
Then Maybe if he does become president They can freeze both Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes so they can fight in the future!!
Now that would be Epic!
Demolition Man WIN!
That movie was so awesome. The pinnacle of conflict resolution, there.
The biggest irony is that the candidate who fought (well, crashed) in Vietnam is by far the most anti-military and anti-veteran guy on either ticket. (Click my name)
There is a huge difference between legal immigrants and illegal immigrants. Its morons like the person who captioned this picture who are creating the big controversies and problems in the state. California is what, 15 BILLION dollars in debt? And do you still think it is a good idea to support illegals who do nothing but take from the system. Lets see how you feel about them when the state goes bankrupt.
Maybe if California would start firing cops who beat up civilians for no good reason, that’d free up some of the budget.
Now who’s stereotyping?
As long as their legal and paying taxes .. I don’t care who lives here and has a job. I just sick of supporting illegals and dead beats on welfare. I work for what I have … and pay my taxes … so can they!!!
People on welfare still work (if they’re raising kids) and still pay taxes. You’re just jealous you’re not getting any free money.
No, actually, most people who work, even for low wages, get kicked off Welfare due to the income limits. About 75% of the recipients are mutli-generational with definite entitilement issues. The rest get off aid as soon as they can. If they’ve been on more than a year – 18 months and aren’t disabled or caring for someone who is, they aren’t in any hurry to get off. That’s why so many of us that work/worked at the Welfare department start off as idealists then become more pragmatic.
My favorites were the ones saying “I’m not going to work at Wal-Mart…” as if staying on aid was much more respectable.
Honestly, I think we should just shoot them all. I say we make a buffer zone along the border and anyone found in that zone can be legally shot and killed by any United States citizen. Americans will know to stay the hell out and all of those stupid beaners who decide to enter that zone will get blown away.
The Soviets tried that with Checkpoint Charlie. Didn’t work well. Even I couldn’t stomach mowing people down with machine guns. Maybe Supersoakers full of cat pee.
Actually, the Soviets did the opposite with their checkpoints, the primary intent of which was to keep their people IN, not keep immigrants OUT.
Still, I don’t want to machine gun people (Unless they’re coming to this country wearing Che Guevara T-shirts. If they want that kind of system, they should have syated at home.)
I say we mine the border instead. Much more low-maintenance.
