    • Scott says:

Oh joy, the Palin attacks stop for a second so we can return to the McCain is old jokes. That’s about as original as one of Biden’s speeches. Oops.

      • Destin says:

        I <3 partisanship.

      • shinobi says:

meh congress has been asleep at the switch when it comes to fixing fannie and freddie for at least 10 years … mccain is just taking it litterally here. Plus this pic was taken during an all night session of congress IIRC. About 11:30 or midnight and Id be out cold too… especially listening to all those boring Libs run on at the mouth at how everything is going to hell unless they are getting money from it then everything is fine.

        • Wally says:

Wait. Didn’t this bailout plan come from your boy George?

Revisionist history takes less than a week in the Intertubes Era.

          • shinobi says:

wait didnt the need come from your boy roosevelt in the great depression? Creating fannie mae (a government agency) to give people “affordable housing” when they really couldnt afford it just so more minorities and poor whites could have a house is an epic fail in the making.

George had cited in his 2001 budget (drawn up in april or may) that fannie and freddie were a serious concern. The senate banking committee drafted a plan in 05 to fix this problem before it got too far out of hand. the republicans voted for it and the democrats voted against it … since the republicans didnt have a 60-40 majority the vote failed. Barny frank, chris dodd, hillary clinton, and barack obama all received over $100k from fannie and freddie so of course they voted against fixing the problem when it could have been fixed with a new oversight law (or at least diminished).

Bush didnt want to endorse this bail out but personally i think he got worried about the economy and decided that (although the housing market has only lost 20% of the value that it gained in the last few years when it was artificially about 30% inflated) he needed to endorse the idea. since a lot of people in high places were starting to say he needed to act and the economy was just heading down the toilet he changed his tune.

Dont get me wrong hes an idiot for doing it overall but he felt he had to do something and the free market wasnt fixing it so he (for some stupid ass reason) signs over just about 1/3 of the federal budget to one guy to give out to who ever he feels like.

So yeah bail out bill… stupid move… did bush cause there to be a need for a bail out bill? no.

      • Eric says:

        Original? No. Funny? Yes.

        • Scott says:

The first few dozen times yes. Now, no.

          • Evil Pundit says:

            The Dems are getting desperate.

            • PortlandMark says:

              Hah hahahaha…. yes, so desperate:

              http://www.fivethirtyeight.com

Try going there to see the depths of our “desperation”

            • herb says:

              And the Repubs aren’t?

“Man, we’re running out of ammo… What else can we find? He’s loosely tied with a 60s radical? Great, we’ll run with it ad nauseum until people think he’s the terrorist mentor!”

              • shinobi says:

loosely? he announced his candidacy in the mans living room. He funneled half a million dollars of Illinois state funds to him for his “education” projects. Obama’s mentor is Saul alinski who in his book “rules for radicals” talks about manipulating people by leading them to think that you are for what they are suffering against and then doing nothing to fix their problem while you blame the reason you cant get anything done on someone else. Is that radical enough for you? Oh and btw how did a poor kid like him afford to go to columbia or harvard? “Khalid Al-Mansour, a Black Muslim and Black Nationalist who was a “mentor” to the founders of the Black Panther party at the time the party was founded in the early 1960s. ” – taken from http://www.newsmax.com/timmerman/obama_harvard_/2008/09/23/133199.html

Is that radical enough for you? The man hangs out with terrorists, idolizes and receives money from radicals and then when hes been given a position of power he repays those radicals with millions in state (and federal) funds. Does that sound presidential? Does that sound like hes “protecting and defending the constitution of the united states to the best of his ability”? Or does he sound like a complete fascist?

            • gretel says:

He he. When the facts directly contradict your hopes, make some shit up! Works for your party–wait, no it doesn’t, anymore.

    • Daliddlkid says:

I’m Daliddlkid and I disapprove that “first”

  2. M..... says:

He took his Barackycontin today !

  3. Jamieteevee says:

Wake him up if they have to try him in a Ethics Committee again.

    • Osse says:

haha, did you see the video the Obama team releised about the Keating savings and loan scandal? (see link below) I dont like how both sides are choosing to go more negative though :/

      http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/keatingvideo

      • D'oh says:

I agree, Obama is ‘taking the bait’ and also going for identity politics instead of the issues, in wich he excells. If he really wants to promote change, going negative is a VERY bad choice.
I wonder how long it will take before we’re over identity politics.

        • justin says:

We’ve never been above them in the history of the country. 18th and 19th century politics wasn’t at all some huge debate of relevant issues of the day.

In particular, look at the 1800 presidential campaign. Federalists (think John Adams) said that the Democratic-Republicans (think Jefferson) were “radicals who would murder their opponents, burn churches, and destroy the country.” They fought back with accusations of their own, of course, but none of them quite that inflammatory.

So, yeah. It’s *always* been about identity politics. Don’t fool yourself into thinking otherwise.

          • PiMan says:

The only way to remove identity politics is to remove identity.
The reason why the problem is not nearly as severe in countries that use the Westminster system, is because you aren’t voting for the person who is going to be in charge, you are voting for the party.
And indeed, in Australia, there really isn’t just one person in charge. The Quen gives all power to the governor general, whom is appointed by the prime minister, but will only exercise any significant power as requested by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is mostly a figurehead for the party they represent, and still only has one vote in the house of reps, just like any other minister. Certainly, we have no single position in government that can exercise powers as far reaching as a president.

  4. Lolnathan says:

This lol is making me tired.

  5. DeathWyrmNexus says:

… What is that right in front of him? That’s look the back of a head that would be facing his crotch. O_O

    • Seth says:

Okay, what I think we really have here is McCain looking down at a some kind of tech person trying to fix his mike whilst crouching down to remain off-camera. To me, McCain has that head pulled back, eyes down look of someone trying to look at their own chest. Not napping. One does not pull one’s head back like that while napping. Sorry if that broke the funny.

      • um says:

Yes, thank you for taking lolpolitics so seriously, im pretty sure 99% of the people who look at this picture already got that. u can haz sense of humor?

        • Tom Trifik says:

I has a sense of humor… well, no I don’t, unless it’s at the expense of others by poking fun at things others take soooo seriously that they get inordinately mad over even the most trivial ridicule of their “scared cows.” [click my name]

          • herb says:

Hell, I thought it was original. Not the funniest I’ve seen, but a lot better than some of the stuff that makes the front page.

          • D'oh says:

If that’s a genuine photo, I think it’s good, especially know when we see Obama going for a more Republican-ish (for wich the stereotype is a rich old fat, and most important for your lol, white man), negative campaign. Frontpage worthy if you ask me.

      • Spanky says:

        Thank you, Captain Obvious !

    • Orlana says:

It’s someone sitting in front of him. As you can tell from the people behind him, it’s stadium seating. If you look to the upper right of the “e”, you’ll see a receding hair line of the guy in front of him, so no, he’s not facing his crotch.

      • DeathWyrmNexus says:

Thank god. I don’t need another image of him having sex in my head. Damn t-shirt ad…

        • Tom Trifik says:

“I don’t need another image of him having sex in my head”

Out of pure curiosity: How did he get IN there? Who is he having sex with? How was the picture taken? Can I see?

          • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

He’s referencing an ad that pops up on this site randomly if you’re so unlucky as to NOT be using firefox. I didnt see the shirt myself but it depicted Palin and McCain in “compromising” positions with the subtitle “Drill Baby! Drill!”
Said shirt and ad sparked a whole new level of “OMG Stay class democraps!”
Twas a silly time on Pundit Kitchen then.

  6. boom says:

    Too easy, too easy.
Yes, he’s old. And sick. I get it.

  7. Noel says:

Having no set side of politics that I honor exclusively, MOST of the fun of coming to this website is seeing the liberal lols, and watching the conservatives try to shame/embarrass/harass/insult/argue or otherwise object to them in comments.

    • DeathWyrmNexus says:

Ya know, now that you mention it… I think that is a very fun view.

      • M.... says:

        Sorta like…”The View” ?

        • froofrou says:

No no no, The View is a bunch of Liberals trying to shame/embarrass/harass/insult/argue the ONE Conservative into going home and crying into her pillow.

          • M.... says:

            That’s what I meant.

          • PortlandMark says:

Oh boo hoo. They let her get away with her crap for so long; now they tell her ahead of time they’re going to ask her why Palin is qualified, so have an answer ready, and when they ask her, all she can do is screech “Tell me why Barak is qualified!” Please, she deserves her criticism: she’s all partisan, no thought.

      • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

Now you understand why I enjoy these boards so much.
You’d think that McCain was a father to some of these people the way they get
all up in arms over the lols. It is… after all a lolsite.

        • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

By the way… Both the Mexican AND the Spanish government approve naps, between 2 and 4pm. Who knew McCain had so much in common with them.

      • Noel says:

It really is! I think after about two, three days, you can predict both of them to perfection, and then it’s sort of like a video game, almost. You expect a Palin-can-see-Russia joke, or a McCain-has-teh-old joke, but if you get a Palin-is-anti-feminist joke, you lose a mental point, because you didn’t see it coming. In the comments, you’re going to see someone say, “Yeah, yeah, _____, get some new material, be original,” but you get bonus points of you predict their sentence word-for-word!

Lol. Of course, I don’t ACTUALLY put that much into it, but you get my point.

    • shinobi says:

yeah that sounded like a totally non partisan statement :rolls eyes:

      • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

Actually that is about the most objective observation of this website Ive ever read.
The statement clearly points out what either side does, and doesnt state whether one or the other is right, or taking the “moral high ground”. But of course as we all know, if you’re not a republican you’re a democrat, and if you’re not a democrat…. you’re a republican. My my… the choices we have here in the land of the free.

        • Noel says:

Thank you. I’m friggin’ tired of that mindset, myself. I can dislike somebody without automatically aligning myself with that person’s enemies.

      • Noel says:

What about it leaned in either direction? I don’t know where the logic is in these kinds of statements. Because I find something one side does funny, I MUST be affiliated with the other side? If I don’t like a pair of pants, I ONLY wear skirts? Grow up.

  8. Tom Trifik says:

Should you prefer a Picture of Barack Captioned by a Conservative, then you may wish to click my name. Liberals are allowed to scream, rant and cry foul!

    • Spanky says:

Now that’s funny ! But it will never make it any further.

    • lowly grunt says:

Sorry, Tom. I just don’t get it. I know you want to piss me off, but I just don’t understand. The light and shadow are a cool trick but … what?

      • shinobi says:

its a joke about how obama is black and acts white so when he is approaching a debate he transfers to a lighter shade of black to be more appealing to whites. Er thats what I got from it. Rated it a 5 btw.

      • Tom Trifik says:

No trick! That’s CHANGE for ya…

[IMHO Barack would CHANGE any of his opinions if he thought it would get him elected... OH WAIT! He HAS! Like 1000 times. And when he CHANGES back to REAL OBAMA , well it won't be pretty.]

  9. This should be on fail blog as OLD f-ing news!

    • Maxwell Silverhammer says:

Considering there is no denying the fact that McCain is old, and that the elderly(along with just about everyone I know) love naps, its not a fail.
Knowing the definition of what makes a fail… fail.

  10. Kristine says:

too bad he’s not actually napping….

  11. Esther Corley says:

He’s not napping. He’s praying for his low scores to magically rise!

  12. Kira says:

ORIGINAL HUMOR: ur doin it wrong

  13. Lallz says:

I went for a nap when I got in at 4pm yesterday…and woke up at 9am this morning. Productivity fail.

  14. Budchey says:

If hes too old to even stay awake during a debate or whatever, who in their right mind thinks he can run an entire country? Presidents dont get a naptime.

  15. AustFAILian says:

Ah, McCain, you’ve done it again!

Actually, am I the only Australian who thinks of oven chips when reading about the election?
