Even More Lulz

1st!
Missing two digits
700 billion = 700,000,000,000
It’s Dubya math. I’m not surprised.
win
at least someone else noticed it..
Mwahahaha, the Bush Administration’s stance of absolutely unbridled capitalism has gone so badly wrong that the only way to fix it is to flirt with socialism. That’s what happens when you give wall street the keys to the liquor cabinet George, they get drunk.
Lol, I love that one.
he’s turned the value of a dollar into the value of pocket lint.
single-handedly.
the filthy Republican bastard….
You Lefties are sooo full of hate !
Come to the Right- you’ll feel better !
Don’t confuse anger with hate.
That cognitive dissonance must hurt. You know what that is, right? The pain that comes from trying to hold mutually contradictory ideas in your head at the same time. Like, you believe that Republicans are good. But being fiscally irresponsible is bad. And big government is bad. But Republicans are fiscally irresponsible. And they have been making government bigger.
–
Just think about it. Think about the economy, and the bailout. Think about your candidate. Think about all those rich guys on wall street, who profit with no risk to themselves. Think about personal responsiblity. Think about no-bid contracts. That headache you are getting? Yeah, that’s cognitive dissonance.
[Come to the Right- you’ll feel better !]
Only if you have cookies…it sounds like you do.
with the line-up of fools we’ve got running,
I’m thinking of bolting to Canada.
who’s with me?
If I’m moving anywhere it sure as hell isn’t to Canada.
England? lets go!
I’m going to Australia to live on a beach somewhere…
I’m so going there. They have their own oil reserves.
If you’re looking for Oil, try Venezuela – $0.12 gal/gas.
Because that’s the only reason to move.
Been there done that. Lived for 10 years in PQ and Toronto. If you think Bush capitalism is bad, try Canadian socialism on for size and enjoy the national inferiority complex.
I hear the French are a little better though gas there is costly, but they barely cars anyway.
I meant barely use cars
i’m headed for japan
I’ve always held that the honorable, patriotic thing to do is to stay and contribute what one can to fix the problem. One begins to despair, however… and New Zealand does look awfully inviting.
New Zealand only has one redeeming factor. Being a nuclear free zone.
Do I detect the voice of experience?
As an Australian, it is my job to insult New Zealand whenever possible, but I will give credit where it is due.
New Zealand: Australia’s Canada.
SO that’s the first place I’ll go invade, because I know they can’t retaliate
Care for a little co-occupation? We can divide things out fairly and I have minions!
Are you kidding?! We just had an election. Did you see the lineup we had?
There was:
A slimeball (Harper, who won)
A guy who comes across like a surprised, confused owl (Dion)
A total idiot (Layton)
And a “who the hell is she?” (May)
Which resulted in the country’s lowest voter turnout ever.
I’m just glad our campaigns are much, much shorter than that of the US.
So what’re we gonna do about it?
Early voting starts on the 16th of October and runs to the 1st of November, at least in North Carolina. Check your state Board of Elections website for early voting times and locations.
As if the votes would be counted anyway. As if there was anyone decent to vote for. As if there aren’t a whole shload of Americans stupid enough to vote for McCain.
A crappy government is the natural result of universal voting in an ignorant society and that crappy government will then make the society more ignorant.
The problem with democracy is that everyone is allowed to vote. If you’ve ever looked around you, at all the idiots who have no clue what they’re doing, you’ll see why thats a problem.
You got it a little wrong. It goes:
The great thing about democracy is that everyone gets a vote.
The problem with democracy is that everyone is gets a vote.
Robert Heinlein:
“Monarchy is the theory that one person is more intelligent than a million people. What?”
“Democracy is the theory that a million people are smarter than one person. Hmm, better scan that again, it doesn’t track!”
I think I butchered the quotes, but I love them anyway.
I like that too.
It does give me a small bout of depression either way but I do like those quotes..
We don’t have a true democracy here, and we don’t elect the president, which is why the popular vote is meaningless. The ACTUAL election is Dec 15th, when the electoral college votes. Here is a summary of the process:
“Rather than directly voting for the President and Vice President, United States citizens cast votes for electors. Electors are technically free to vote for anyone eligible to be President, but in practice pledge to vote for specific candidates[2] and voters cast ballots for favored Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates by voting for correspondingly pledged electors.”
As part of the process, it is also technically possible to have A candidate voted into office, and have his opponent’s running mate voted VP.
So, while we love to push democracy and direct elections on others, we technically have neither…
You do have representative democracy, but I don’t think you even have the best system of that. I prefer something more similar to the Westminster system, where the popular vote of your local region actually matters beyond a few weeks after the election.
Yes, but representative democracy is different than true democracy. We only directly elect members of Congress to National office here.
Apathy kills democracy.
Apathy doesn’t kill, it just thinks about it before deciding it’s too much effort and goes back to watching t.v.
who cares?
The Dems are not the only ones that have bad money practice. I am not sure I like Obamas or Mcains economic plans. The repubs idea of just pulling all of our troups out now is dumb, but we do need to pull out we just need to give an ultimatum. What we need to do is have both parties work together and come to a compromise instead of just saying that one is correct and the other is wrong.
Eh. Party warfare is what keeps a democracy democratic. Otherwise it would degenerate into authoritarianism.
Unless they actually agree.
Arguing for the sake of arguing is no better for democracy than agreeing for the sake of agreeing.
Says you.
Disagring is ok, stupidity is not. the economy need a long term fix now, not a patch that will spring a leak later. From what i can tell one side may have a long term fix and the other a patch. witch would you prefer?
yeah, it should say 699,999,999,999.00 more. I made that mistake once too and said 7 billion, I think its because we can’t wrap our minds around 7 hundred-billion. It’s such a staggering sum.
Depressingly staggering.
Yes Busheh, you can haz if u alsew haz obersyt an no goldin parameshootez.
Pew! pew! pew !
Go away Lolcat talk !!!!!
I can believe I am saying this, but it isn’t so unreasonable given the caption is in (correctly spelled) lolspeak.
As long as captioners use ichc memes like “i can has”, we can never be rid of the menace that is lolspeak.
If there is one thing PKers on both sides can agree on, it is the menace of lolspeak. Damn, that stuff makes my brain hurt. I mean, I can take it in small doses, on captions. But a whole post, let alone pages of the stuff? A celebration of inane stupidity.
–
I would rather have EP follow me around for a day yelling in my ear than read a single post in lolspeak.
I usually hate it too, but it was seeming a tiny bit hypocritical when it is in the caption.
I agree with you 100% on the lolspeak.
whoa, i didn’t realize lolspeak was verbotten in pundit kitchen. i’z sorry.
This is a great video, goes a little too fast but great explanation of the background of this sub prime mortgage mess. Thanks for posting it!
Don’t worry. BHo will make that up in no time with all the new taxes ! If anyone’s left in America….
Yes, everyone making more than $250,000 a year should certainly be aware of the new taxes Obama will levy on them. The rest of us will be fine.
How Naive !
Cynicism doesn’t contradict the facts. Obama’s plan is to tax those who make greater than 250K per year. Of course there’s the possibility that any candidate will renege on any piece of their plan, but at least Obama’s got specifics. All Old Man McCain could do was pull a “spending freeze” out of his ass, which Obama quite correctly noted was stupid.
It’s just the begining.
Then it will be $100,000, then $50,000 and so on. Not to mention gas taxes, sales taxes, etc….
Don’t forget, he also wants to bail out Africa with One Trillion dollars in US aid (your tax money). But he hasn’t sent his own half brothers a dime himself.
And how do the republicans plan to pay for the $700000000000 they are spending (with bipartisan support)?
More borrowing?
Do they naively expect it to be payed back?
local governments will do the same
Link for the 1 Trillion figure?
Gas taxes and sales taxes are mostly determined by state, county, and other local governments. The US Constitution does not give the authority to the federal government to regulate intrastate commerce, only interstate.
Um, yeah. And then he’ll send people to gather up everybody’s guns and burn them. And then he’ll make everybody drive a foreign car. And then he’ll make everybody babysit poor people’s kids. And if you don’t cough up the extra taxes, he’ll make space aliens come down and do experiments on you.
In bed with a rotary drill and a 2×4.
2×4… now THATS some nice wood.
For all the back and forth, noone’s bothering to actually cite facts/sources. That’s one of the great problems with the internet… and you know what they say about the arguing on the internet being like the special olympics…
No, you cannot has another. You assclowns in DC already take a quarter on my check anyway. Once insurance, 401k, state tax are out, I’m left with half of what I actually made.
I think I was just robbed. Have you seen this guy, real tall, white goatee, big hat, wears a striped coat?
yes because a 401k is a horrid governmental thing.
oh wait.. the government doesn’t control 401k’s.. YOU DO.
If you look closer, none of what he mentioned is controlled by DC.
Last time I checked DC made the federal tax code, hence a quarter of my check goes to federal taxes, SS, etc. And yes I know I control my 401k, after all the other stuff goes, I’m left with half my salary. I lose $250 bucks a week, that’s minus the 401k, since I’m not technically losing it.
Yes, but you never mentioned federal tax code. You mentioned “You assclowns in DC already take a quarter on my check anyway. Once insurance, 401k, state tax are out, I’m left with half of what I actually made.” Trust me, I know how you feel, I lose a ton to those things. On the other hand, to an extent, they are a necessary evil.
It’s so fun to watch the economically illiterate leftosphere talk like they actually had a clue in the world. Come out of your mother’s basement, get a job, better yet, employ others and meet a payroll.
The current mess is yet another time-bomb left from the Clintoon era. Banks only loaned to people who can’t pay because Slick passed laws making them do it.
