Whohoo… USA, always finding shiny new ways to fail.
in bed.
Ah screw it. I will add a Bwahahahaahahaaa to that too.
Actually, lately it seems to be the same one over and over: elect a president who is worse than his predecessor.
Harry Truman is probably an exception, and perhaps Eisenhower, though I can think of things I’d rather each of them had not done.
But he’s thanking the wrong one. He should be thanking Jimmy Carter!
Carter was a great president compared to both Nixon and Bush, and he is still a great man and one of our best elder statesmen. He presided over some terrible crisis, the roots of which were simply not his fault. His reputation was tarnished from the Reagan campaign working secret deals to keep the hostages penned up until after the election.
I think Carter is a great man, but I’m not so sure he was a great president. Certainly not a bad one, though.
I tend to agree. Carter was a lightweight as president, but I admire his principles and his intentions.
That said, I don’t think Nixon is quite as bad as he’s made out to be, either. I’m certainly not a fan, but his only truly horrific problem was the Watergate debacle. And, admittedly, that was quite a doozy, but I think it also tends to make us emphasize other negative qualities of his administration in a way we really don’t do with other presidents. Myself, I’d rank him towards the bottom, and I hardly supported him, but I never called him the “worst,” even before our current decider-in-chief.
And I agree with your agreement to the other agree….nevermind. Anyway, Nixon opened the doors to serious trade with China which, at the time, was a great idea and he was taking over the country at a truly horrific time what with the whole race thing, trying to make everyone NOT compare him to wonderboy JFK and all. He just had a bit of a problem playing fair in elections.
Carter was a one term washout wuss. Good riddance.
Nixon opening the doors to trade with China is going to go down as one of the worst decisions in US history. The economic factors resulting from that are one of the primary contributing factors to our current situation. Opening trade allowed thousands (millions?) of manufacturing jobs (which provide a stable foundation for the economy) to be shipped overseas, which eventually drastically skewed our trade deficit, along with the stability of the economy (and its increasing dependence on the falling value of the dollar).
has nothing to do with manufacturing jobs, that’s just idle protectionism. The problem is, now we’ve got a mercantilist (almost as bad as communist) country holding constitutionally protected debt, which means we can’t really destroy it like it needs
He tarnished his own reputation with all the anti-semetic crap. Bad president and not a great person either.
Who? Carter?
Speaking as a native Georgian, carter is an embarassment to his legacy, his roots, and his country. Oh, and he’s a tool as well.
ditto on all counts
ditto here too
i don’t think Nixon was all that bad. I mean, he brought back the soilders from Vietnam, opened trade with China & had an incredible foriegn record. He was also the first president to go to China. the only bad thing he did was Watergate& he wasn’t the one to do it, he just tried to cover it up. He really wasn’t as bad as he’s made out to be.
Deflection fail.
Srsly? I thought we’d go at least a week before we’d have another Jimmy Carter debate. Especially considering he’s not been president for almost 30 YEARS.
Actually Ford was responsible for what Jimmy Carter had to go through, granted Carter just continued the same ridiculous policies as Nixon and Ford as far as he economy goes. That being said, Bush has never imposed wage/price ceilings ever so that era and this are not very well comparable. Not to mention we don’t have the Saudis boycotting our money do we. So how is that like now? To be honest Bush did nothing about the economy, why do you think we are in this mess, after Bills bubble burst (remember that from 2000-01) George didn’t take strong measure against it. Nor could he because of where the market was shifting, we are far more global now then we were 8 years ago and…..I am rambling.
Bottom line, Nixon does not equal better then Bush, and for sure Carter was just a place holder in presidential history and nothing more. (That being said I love all of Carters peace work)
Rather spoiled by his general arming of Afghan tribesmen he wouldn’t have allowed a Swiss Army knife with a broken blade to be exported to if the local Govt hadn’t been aligned with the Soviets; thus giving us Rambo III, Al Qaida, and thus the War Without End here in Oceana. I can forgive the latter two, but Rambo III? Never!
Nixon had accomplishments. He did SOME positive things.
Except for the fact that he provided a lot of aid to help out the AIDS crisis in Africa, Bush has done nothing positive at all.
I do wonder if Bush is worried about what will happen after he is out.
[conspiracy mode] But the AIDS epidemic is a LIE!!! It’s all a corporate conspiracy!! [/conspiracy mode]
(I’ve actually discussed with people who were totally convinced of that. You think EP is bad?)
Nixon in ‘08.
Death is no excuse!
HAHAHAHA
But was elected twice, so he can’t
We need Ronald Regan back (or perhaps a clone). All Presidential Candidates since him have sucked, they are neither the Politician AND Statesman that Regan was.
(i.e. B. Clinton Fantastic Politician – B. Dole: Fantastic Statesman. )
Reagan was neither a statesman or a politician. He was a senile old actor with a bunch of rich fat-cat’s hands up his ass. He screwed over America and left Clinton to fix it, which Clinton did handily.
You’re joking, right?
Of course he is. Clinton had to fix Bush Sr’s mistakes, not Reagan’s.
Reagan – Best president EVAH!!!!!!!
Hah hah hah! Hah hah hah hah hah ! Hah hah ha- oh wait, you were serious. Sad, really.
he’s credited with taking down the USSR, but it was actually failing on it’s own, plus his tax cut plan wasn’t good at all, something repeated by George W. But he did somethings such as raising the bar on the war on drugs.
He was not a crook…he was crooked, dishonesty in the country’s highest office, in the “best country in the world”. Back then we saw conflicting bumper stickers: “America-Love it or Leave it” then “America-fix it or f*** it” Well, the politicos apparently couldn’t fix it so they f***ed it but good. Get ready for the guacamole to REALLY hit the fan.
Nixon was a weiner. And Bush jr.? Pffffft. Girl, please!
Obama will make Nixon look like FDR.
Oh look, someone is trying out their brand new copy of Mad Libs: President Edition. How cute.
ROTFLOL!!!
I miss Dick.
president dick and president bush
lol
There are cost effective replacements though they do require batteries.
Or a wall outlet.
Just be careful not to rev them up to 88 mph.
I have no idea why I thought of that.
1.21 gigawatts!? Great Scott!!
Just don’t plug them into a European outlet…..
Nesting fail?
Uh, he’s not a JR. Just sayin’…
Just an easier visual way to distinguish father and son.
George W. Bush = Not a Jr. = FAIL
George Bush senior, George Bush junior.
I don’t see a problem.
There is no George Bush Sr. or George Bush Jr. – their names are George Herbert Walker Bush and George Walker Bush. If you can’t get these simple, basic facts correct it calls into question your accuracy and credibility on other facts.
And in the interest of disclosure, I’m a former registered Republican who is now a card-carrying Libertarian.
Ignoring their middle names.
They have the same first and last names, I don’t think it unreasonable to refer to one as senior and one as junior.
Would you rather George Bush I and George Bush II? (Can’t really say George I, because that would be George Washington!) Too cumbersome. We did win the Revolution, after all.
ahh indeed its true
People forty and up have lived through Nixon, Carter and W. Don’t we get some sort of medal for that?
No. We ought to ship you all off to Carousel. If you’re lucky, you’ll be Renewed.
Unless you’re a sandman…
There’s still time for him to be pushed into 3rd worst if Palin gets anywhere near the position of President, Miss Teen Carolina sounds like Oscar Wilde compared to Sarah’s panicked bumbling when she’s asked even the simplest of questions.
Really hate women, huh ?
Stop playing the gender card, it’s pathetic. Do you think that Palin should be immune from criticism of her obvious lack of understanding of the situation just because she’s a woman? Isn’t that incredibly patronising to women in general?
each supporter of these campaigns will play one of those cards. If you’re against Palin, you’re called sexist, if you’re against Obama, you’re called racist, if you’re against McCain, they’ll play the POW card. If you’re against Biden they’ll…..uhh…yeah….
What do you mean “will play”? Obama’s people (and Obama) played the race card a LONG time ago, to the point that Bill Clinton was complaining they played it on him. What female Democrat said about Obama “have you noticed that he’s African-American?” This was last week (I think), and shows where the mentality is.
sorry got confused, I meant will “repeatedly” use. Din’t hil supporters also play the gender card.
political cards : Race card, gender card, War hero card, inexperienced card, terror card, “he’s just like -insert name of bad president of your choice” card, patrotism card, etc…
Lol, you’re right.
Children get to use the playing card.
