Actually, in Old Norse, it stems from Viken, a Norse region. The verb probably came from that.

The noun Viking came about from the verb ‘to vike’. Viking is what htey were doing. But it quickly became associated with who they were, so they got the name.

If you rotate goats (who eat the grass and weeds) to chickens (who eat remaining plants and bugs from the goat poop) to crops (which grow fat on the composting goat and chicken poop), your land will be extra fertile (so long as you don’t grow corn exclusively) and those eggs will be so f*cking good…

Ah but our economy and food supply is based on moncultural crops, and large transportation. With the costs of fuel, and changes in weather patterns, there are problems in some parts of the monocrops not doing as well, or in other places of crops rotting in the field because its not cost effective to harvest them. This is indications of some problems!

Have learned enough to be able to change our agricultural structures to accommodate changes, is the question– scientifically we know a lot, but can we apply it?
