On second thought, Putin doesn’t think he needs an excuse like WMD to go into an area to control its oil (supply). He wants the USSR back, geopolitically, and he’s showing determination to rebuild that without flimsy world-peace excuses like Cheney thought up.

Who said anything about ‘truth’? It was about good excuses. the comments later about WMD lies (I can’t be bothered with political speak) means I really wouldn’t trust reports of genocide unless I was standing on a pile of skulls with crows circling, nor ‘intelligence’ reports for absense of same.
Based on Western intelligence abilities, and political pragmatics, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve been wrong about genocides… remember Slick Willy denying that what went down in Rwanda was genocide?
