Well, at least those Americans can understand and/or relate to him….

It baffles me why people want a Joe Average (intelligence) president they can “relate to” instead of a smart person.
I’m not calling myself one of those Americans who can relate to him – I’m just making a statement about those who can.

When is correct pronunciation somehow a requirement on an ICHC affiliate site? If anything, it’s a faux pas on these particular sites – it doesn’t matter if it’s political or not – it’s still a lolsite.
The certain Republican political figure who has pronounced it “nucular” didn’t do it on a “lolsite”.
Is this *actually* about the pronunciation then? I’d kind of assumed he’d meant to say ’sustainable’ or something, and people were just picking up on the accent joke for dessert, so to speak.

“Nook-yoo-lar” is and has been the standard ITB (inside the beltway, i.e., Washington, D.C.) pronunciation ever since the word “nuclear” replaced “atomic”. Get over it.

Funny thing is , Eisenhower, Carter, and Clinton also pronounced it this way from time to time. (Though Carter had that Georgian accent to blame for his mispronunciation. It has even begun to seep into some standard dictionary pronunciations.
