    yay!

    • Evil Pundit says:

There’s some truth to this lol.

A dog is more qualified than Obama.

      • some guy says:

you either really are that stupid,
or your just really not funny at all.

by bitch theyre refering to Sarah Palin,
        the woman who values life,
but enjoys an occational hunting trip.

        • YumYum says:

Well, that’s the second bitch in this thread. Bitch.

          • Hank says:

Too funny. She thinks babies should live and moose should die. Obama thinks the opposite. The dog is prob more qualified then Barry. He’s taking a nose-dove right now, and they’re trying to take it out on her. HA.HA.HA.
            Losers

            • tards says:

              Sofa King We Todd Did

            • Maryland Belle says:

Nuuu…Palin doesn’t want to kill babies. She wants to kill people who don’t have the same definition of baby as she does.

            • md in Syr, NY says:

is a fetus a baby? i thought it was a fetus. hum… does god think it is okay to kill moose for fun? hum… i guess i had all those morals are mixed up.

              • Hank says:

You can apparently kill a baby if you call it something else, but I don’t think God cares if you off a moose

                • Actually, you have no idea what God thinks. What you have is faith. Prove your faith is fact without using your religious text. You cannot, hence the word faith. Point is, God gets to decide who is right and who is wrong. In some cases, society has obvious answers, in others it doesn’t. Free societies allow individuals to decide areas where the impact is questionable, according to their conscience, allowing God to ajudicate their decisions. The problem with people like you… you want to pretend you are God and in a position to judge those less moral than you.

                  • Ashton says:

That is perhaps the only intelligent comment here.

                  • Question Authority says:

This is exactly what I wish more people of faith would understand. No one really knows what God thinks, if anything like that really exists. People can point to personal beliefs and experiences or to supposedly revealed texts, but I think if we really want to know what God thinks we have to look at the universe, laws of physics, things that are real. If there is a God, and it created the universe, then I think we can find out at least as much about that God through science than we can through storytelling and human moralizing.

                  • So, Charlie, you didn’t answer the question – does your god care if a human who doesn’t need it for food (society raises and kills plenty of animals for food every day, and Palin can afford to buy it) offs a wild, free-living moose that owes nothing to humans for its existence?

            • Srious says:

              you sound really smart

        • Nobody Famous says:

Yes, but the thing is she doesn’t hunt humans. If we were made to be herbavores, then we wouldn’t have canine teeth.

      • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Obviously reading comprehension isn’t one of your strong points. It’s OK, you’re a conservative, so that’s a bonus!

        • Evil Pundit says:

Dog or b1tch, both are more qualified than an empty suit.

          • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Well, I think that we all know how you stand, but how is that linked to this lol?

            • Evil Pundit says:

              Duh.

If the dog was Obama’s running mate, she’d still be more qualified to be President than Obama himself. Just like Joe Biden.

              • ema says:

And since Palin is more qualified than Obama, if the dog is more qualified than Palin, well…

              • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Oh, I get it… not only do you have poor reading comprehension, but no sense of logic, either.

              • ANDIIJBRIGGS says:

                “Empty suit”?
Bitch, please: if you listen to 10 minutes of McCain vs. 10 minutes of Obama, it’s painfully crystal-clear that Obama is intelligent, informed, well-spoken (I put that one in for you, George), genuine, and is a true leader. HAVE you stopped to listen to both of them?
The man had the smarts and the gonads to vote against the Iraq war when anyone with a half-functioning brain KNEW there was no excuse for us to do so. That one vote speaks MOUNTAINS.
And yes, Hilary voted FOR the war; she’s a brilliant woman, and I’m sure she knew the war was bullshit, but she wanted to keep her career more than she wanted to do the right thing.
Either McCain was too stupid to know better, or his ambitions got in the way of his morals, as they seem to be doing increasingly of late. Which pisses me off, because I used to like McCain. >:( Now he’s playing the same tune as the rest of them.

    • Indpendendent Voter says:

I thought democrats were supposed to be tolerant and open. Yet, truthfully, you are all racist and sexist. Here is a tid bit of actual truth you may enjoy. — USA Today/Gallup Poll — Sept. 7th — Likely Voters — Palin/McCain 54%, Obama/Biden 44%. Oh yeah.

      • Bee Mee says:

Polls don’t get to people who only use cell phones – most younger people nowadays

        • larry says:

younger people who only use cell phones don’t vote in large humbers, hisrtorically, and are the most dangerous because they don’t study issues – they just believe the hate-mongering crap sites like this spit out

      • eddiepscetti says:

The polls I looked at from Gallup show a pretty tight race. I don’t know where you got your figures, but I think they’re a bit skewed. Now, I support McCain and would be stoked if these numbers were correct. But truthfully, I don’t see McCain being up that much.

      • James says:

Racism, sexism and bigotry in general is all about judging an entire group of people based on the supposed actions of a few members of that group. Like for example claiming that Democrats are racist and sexists because a handful of people you assume are Democrats post a sexist image.

Thanks for showing us how it’s done.

      • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Oh, so your tagline is a lie. You are not an independent voter at all.

      • Chefragu says:

Yeah, and the GOP is so openminded, gender-equal, and tolerant of other races and religions. I didn’t even see a white person at the GOP convention between all the blacks, asians, and latinos that were present. I sure would hate for Obama to get elected and risk throwing away all of the social harmony that the Neo-Cons and Religious right have so caringly cultivated.

        • DeathWyrmNexus says:

Ignore the man behind the curtain. I the Great Oz Demand it!!!

        • ANDIIJBRIGGS says:

Larry Wilmore, a talented black comedian who’s been on the Daily Show, did a fantastic piece (which I can’t seem to find online) walking through the RNC. As he passed a black guy in the hall during the convention, he gave him a look and said, “what are YOU doing here?!”

      • Josh says:

Independent Voter, you may want to rethink that. Are you aware that NOTHING obama or biden has said is sexist!! For god’s sakes they stated they were impressed with her political skills, her oratory skills, etc. She knows how to speak, only problem is her policies are borderline fascist, she lies outright when factcheck.org (NON PARTISAN). And before you open your mouth and prove what a naive numbskull you really are, please do some of your own research, a hypocrite is a hypocrite, and just remember, she was for the bridge before she was against it. Not to mention she is for the bridge to a small city for a small $600 million earmark, which money can go to improve the CURRENT roads in Alaska which are some of the worst maintained in the nation. Next moronic republican to bring up the lipstick on the pig and call it racist is 1) twisting an old metaphor which has NOTHING to do with sex (last time I checked the derrogatory use of a pig is usually a man or a cop), but also a hypocrite. McCain used the SAME DAMN metaphor when attacking Clintion’s policies, very recently. And, it’s on tape. Republicans had NO problem being sexist when they were attacking Hilary. And the troopergate thing being partisan? Last time I checked it was the GOP that opened the investigation, shit, there goes that theory. And that giving away toasters, jeez that’s a 2nd grade rebuttal to a college-level statement. What a comeback, but that’s republicans of recent, instead of answering the question, they divert it. This isn’t all partisan politics I’m speaking of, it’s FACT. If you can disprove pretty much ANYTHING I have stated, I will personally apologize and vote for McCain. Don’t think that’s gonna happen, so go for it. McCan/Palin ‘08, leaders of the new Fascist party.

FYI, Karl Rove, of all people, is criticizing McCain/Palin for stating outright LIES in their smear commercials, now THAT’s the pot calling the kettle black. Oh wait, I said black, go ahead and call me a racist. Actually, you’ll probably condone that racism since Alan Keyes isn’t on the ticket. Then again, I bet you don’t even know who Mr. Keyes is, do you.

You may now crawl into your little hole.

    • ANDIIJBRIGGS says:

Some REALLY hilarious comments on this – it really made me laugh! I just can’t help but notice that with very few exceptions, Republicans have NO sense of humor, especially when it gets sophisticated or leaves the beaten track.

      IT’S A JOKE, SON!!

      *poke* *poke*

    • md in Syr, NY says:

does any one have any lipstick? i think this photo is missing something.

    • MILK says:

I think we’re all missing the real point here and that is… Why the hell was this picture ever even taken?

  2. Trainwreck Chaser says:

    Ahahaha
You know what the joke is here?
    Liberal Tolerance.

(Excluding people Jane can think of)

    • Charlie Foxtrot says:

      how so?

      • Evil Pundit says:

Calling a woman a ‘bitch’ is a sexist slur which liberals would normally condemn — but they drop this principle when it comes to conservative women.

        • herb says:

          Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighht…

Thus the popularity amongst Hilary supporters of Tina Fey’s “Bitch is the New Black” segment.

        • mouse says:

SOrry but as a woman I think any woman who forces rape victims to pay for their own rape exam is a bitch. Period.

          • Evil Pundit says:

Then it’s a good thing that Sarah Palin didn’t do that.

Are there any more false smears you’d like to share with us? That her son is really her grandson, or that her children are on drugs?

            • ema says:

I am so tired of hearing this one. Please click my name to see this one debunked. People, she is not the troglodyte you are trying to make her out to be!

              • herb says:

But repeating the same garbage about Obama’s patriotism, his religion, or the character of a guy he met a few times (Ayers) is perfectly all right? You may not personally be responsible for this sort of hypocrisy, but you certainly don’t stand against it.

              • vertigo says:

Ah, sorry to contradict you guys, but there actually is some
truth to that rumor. True, Palin didn’t put that law into effect, she’s
certainly not the one blame for it’s conception but she IS indirectly
responsible for the charges victims were required to pay while she
was in office without making any attempt or consideration for a repeal.

Forgive me if this seems like a radical notion, but giving the
taxpayers a break is not a justified excuse to keep that kind of law in
effect. As a tax payer I’m going to go right ahead and say that a
circumstance needing medical intervention, like rape examination, is
exactly the kind of thing our tax money should be going to.
Politicians will bitch and moan about poor budget utilization or
underfunding, yet somehow they still manage to find just enough
to put metal statues of dead people all over the country.

                • onceajinx says:

                  UMMMM!!! You said ‘conception’!!

Which is at the heart of the rape kit issue. If the state
pays for the rape kit, it also provides the option of contraception
to the victim. Palin doesn’t believe in that, so by not paying
for the kits, ‘her’ state isn’t ‘providing abortions’ to traumatized
                  women. Merely traumatizing them further.

                  • glory says:

Not an american, so not really folowing the american election (we in canada have our own election to deal with), but in regards to abortion, I believe that RAPE should be one of those few times where the christian god should not mind abortion. I mean rape is not something the woman chose, it is not her fault some prick decided to do that to her. and for that god would want both the woman and the child punished? Fundamentalist in ANY religion are scary. If you worship that kind of god, it says something about you, I think. If she believe abortion or the morning after pill or any contraceptive is wrong in regards to rape she should not be in office. Just my 2 cents.

                  • James says:

“Rape kit” usually means the equipment that the cops use to collect evidence (biological samples) after a rape.

If Alaska for some reason also included a dose of RU-486 in the kit (which would be really, really cool) it would simple enough for women who didn’t want it to not take it. If Palin just really can’t stand the idea of rape victims getting emergency contraceptives, then the RU-486 (which probably isn’t in there in the first place) could just be removed from the kits.

                  • vertigo says:

                    CONCEPTION:
                    NOUN
2 a: the capacity, function, or process of forming or understanding ideas or abstractions or their symbols b: a general idea : concept c: a complex product of abstract or reflective thinking d: the sum of a person’s ideas and beliefs concerning something3: the originating of something in the mind

        • Maryland Belle says:

Um…bitch also means female dog. Look at the picture again. Get it now?

          **eyeroll**dumbass**sigh**

        • Kuromisa says:

Quote from woman to John McCain:

“How do we beat the bitch?” (Obviously, this refers to Hillary.)

          http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/14/us/politics/14mccain.html?_r=1&ref=politics&oref=slogin

I realize it says he seemed uncomfortable with the question, but he did answer it nonetheless.

        • danyell says:

As a feminist, I have a problem with *any women* being a called a “bitch”.

(But I also had a problem with the GOP always referring to Hillary Clinton by sexist terms and thinking it was ok, but now all of a sudden acting like feminists because they have Palin. Hypocrites)

      • Trainwreck Chaser says:

I honestly can’t think of one picture that has been on this front wall that has said something similar about a liberal person.

Closest thing would be the one with Oprah with Michelle staring here down.

I find it slightly offensive they are calling a successful governor a bitch. But it isn’t going to be the highlight of my day or anything.

      • Trainwreck Chaser says:

I read it a second time

        *faceslap*

        I’m off my game.

  3. Stan says:

Now, is that a reference to the dog or to the senator?

    • some guy says:

seriosuly the original joke wasnt that funny in the first place,
now your recycling a completely stupid joke,
      just stop,
      think of something new.

    • Charlie Foxtrot says:

her and bitch are the operative words here.

      • Evil Pundit says:

That’s a nasty thing to say about Hillary.

        • enema says:

He was talking about your mom.

        • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Again… reading comprehension! just because you want to believe that the GOP hasn’t screwed things up, doesn’t change the fact that they have ruined the country.

          • Blarg says:

You think liberals would have done any better?

            • MrsDi says:

They did – you might be too young to remember the 8 years of incredible economic grown and security world wide that we enjoyed under the Clinton Administration. ?

              • Evil Pundit says:

That was when Republicans dominated Congress and led the economy, as I recall. And Bill Clinton was busy diddling interns while Osama bin Laden made his plans.

                • Rvo says:

                  Fact check:
Republicans took office in – 94
                  Stayed there until – 06.

Economy – plummeted after Clinton left office? Something about a 6 billion dollar surplus? If you don’t think Clinton had anything to do with the economy, then tell me why the same Republican Congress went from surplus to crash.

Funny thing about war and butter(read: tax cuts). You don’t get to have both. Tell Bush that.

                  • jerseycailin says:

                    NAFTA NAFTA NAFTA whoo

                  • Blarg says:

                    6 billion dollar surplus?

                    ARE YOU SERIOUS?

6 billion dollars is POCKET CHANGE to a modern day super power government. That’s like saying the schoolyard bully is making off well with 3 pennies from the nerd he beat up (probably you). Seriously, get a grip on reality before you try to throw numbers around.

                    • PiMan says:

Not sure where that number came from. The picture my name links to shows numbers much greater than that under Clinton. And shows the immediate drom as Bush came into power.

                      • PiMan says:

*drop, not drom. My finger slipped.

                        • eddiepscetti says:

The thing is, the economy generally run close to fours years behind the current President. So if what you’re saying is correct, Bush inherited a deficit and Clinton inherited a surplus and squandered it.

                • PiMan says:

The US economy has done better under Democrat presidents than Republican ones.
Unemployment trends downwards with Democrat presidents, and upwards with Republican presidents.
Incomes rise more under the Democrats.
Inflation is lower under the Democrats.
GDP rises more under the Democrats.
The national debt rises by less under the Democrats.
The budget deficit is much lower under the Democrats.
                  .
This is based on patterns and averages since WWII.

              • Truth Seeker says:

The only reason we had “security” under the clinton administration is because nobody was dumb enought to attack us, even though clinton was working to reduce our military.

What people fail to realize is that whoever the president is has only so much to do with the economy seeing as it is CONGRESS that determines budgets and taxes in the long run. That’s why I find it funny that while Bush did have some problems to start, it wasn’t until dems took congress that things really got screwed up. Heck, Bush has a better approval rating than congress.

                • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Not true. I was in the military during the entire decade of the 1990’s (as well as the entire 80’s and a few years on either side). The 1994 GOP Congress did more to destroy the military than any other entity that I observed in my personal experience.

                • ANDIIJBRIGGS says:

OMG. Extremists of any sort are nothing if not annoyingly persistent.
Nice throwing in the comment about national security – why is it Republicans always do the oily dodge when they don’t like a topic?

                  1. You make it sound like Congress runs the nation. The government was set up as a balance of power between executive-judicial(nod to Bill Cosby)-and legislative to help keep the nation from being hijacked by any one interest group.
                  2. If anything, during his disastrous 8 years in office, George Bush has done everything in his power to give the executive branch of government more weight than the founding fathers EVER thought would happen. 3. The ongoing self-implosion of the top names in the American financial sector is due to A LACK OF GOVERNMENT REGULATION. A big shout out to all the Republicans who were too stupid and greedy to let any power stop them from poisoning themselves and the American economy along with them.
                  3. Fuckit, man: you’re defending a man that even the Republican party doesn’t want at their own convention, they’re so embarassed by him!

                  • larry says:

Au contraire – the congress IS responsible for every peice of legislation that comes out of Washington. The president can suggest, but it is congress that initiates ALL laws. And if anyone has been in a power-grab its the congressional leaders trying to take over the executive powers.

                    • PiMan says:

You say that as though the president is just a figurehead position. The president has powers far beyond what I think any one man should have in a democratic society.
He has veto powers and does use them.

                      • larry says:

Congress creates ALL the laws – they make the laws that regulate income tax, corporate tax, social security tax, cigarette tax, liquor tax, hiway tax, gas tax, estate tax, death tax, social security benefits tax, taxes to insure phone service to ‘rural areas’, and an entire plethera of other taxes. They also determine how ALL the money is spent – remember the government shutdown under Bush 41? Congress refused to pass a spending bill until Bush acquiesced on a tax increase and not one federal employee got paid for several weeks. It’s actually a big part of the reason he lost – his campaign slogan was ‘no new taxes’.

True the President has veto power, but only over what Congress gives him and if the Congress doesn’t make the bill NOTHING becomes law. Why do you think Congress has the lowest approval rating in the ENTIRE history of the Unites States – because they are too busy hounding Bush and whinning over his presidency to do their jobs! I mean, as the most recent example, they complained about the gas prices, said something should be done, and left. The ONLY piece of the government that could actually create a policy to help Joe and Suzy six-pack afford fuel went on vacation instead. And let us not forget that most of those wonderful taxes were created in the forty+ years after FDR when the Democrats were in sole possesion of the House and had the Senate most of the time, as was the spending frenzy that still permeates Washington today regardless of who’s in charge.

So you can be as pissed as you want at Bush 43 – there is a WHOLE lot I don’t like about his presidency as well – but let us put the blame for the mismanagement of the government the last few years where it belongs – squarely upon the shoulders of the Democrat-led Congress.

                        • Ashton says:

okay, there’s plenty of blame to go around here. but the economy didn’t start this death spiral until about a year, a year and a half ago – 2007.
the congress had nothing to do with this sudden shift because they were only elected in 2006, and any legislation they enacted before that point likely hadn’t even gone into effect yet. anything that has happened in the past few years is most likely a result of the policies of the previous congress that the current congress inherited.

and really, there isn’t much congress can do to lower gas prices if we’re going to try and get people to break their dependence on oil. if we were to release oil from the reserves, or to declare a gas tax holiday, that would only drive the number of drivers back up – just what we don’t want. as nice as it is to think that we can just keep drilling, there are only so many places we can go before we’re just making pointless holes in the ground. offshore drilling and drilling in alaska most likely won’t really help alleviate our problems in the long run. they’ll just distract us from the preparations we need to make when there is absolutely no more oil.

                        • Larry says:

On this we can agree – Congress did inherit the economic misfortunes that have occured in the last few months. They inherited it from Clinton and the liberal Congress in place when he took office. Together, they changed lending law to FORCE lending companies into making more high-risk loans which, in turn caused a rate rate of default, yada yada yada. We wone’t even talk about the corruption within Freddie Mac and Fannie mae that contributed to the downturn. Bush’s mistake was allowing Clinton’s mistake to continue when he did have a congress that could do something about this, but THIS Congress – with all their big talk about DOING something – have done absolutely nothing to correct this.

And on the subject of doing nothing in Congress and our current gas price dilemma, consider this: One thing that we could do to lower prices dramatically would be to simply refine it ourselves. We have to buy gasoline – not oil – from foreign countries because CONGRESS has made it impossible to build any domestic refineries in the last 30+ years through legislative red tape. Repealing those laws are well within THIS Congress’s scope. And as far as drilling not helping now – the pipelines are ALREADY THERE in the gulf!!! Foreign countries are ALREADY THERE drilling closer to our borders than Congress will allow our own companies drill!!! We could ALREADY be on our way to reducing our dependance on foreign oil by simply USING OUR OWN. American ingenuity still exists, but Congress won’t allow anyone to use the technology we have. and on the subject of energy independence, why is it Congress has pretty much prohibited exploring nuclear power? After all, we ARE the ONLY superpower that doesn’t use this safe, cost-effective, long-lasting energy source.

Not to mention the MASSIVE amount of war debt we now owe OTHER COUNTRIES, thus giving them power over us.
And I have GOT to wonder if Bin Laden would still be alive if we hadn’t been jerking off in Iraq.

            • Do you ever stop and think, or do you even realize what you are saying?

          • Snark says:

Generalizations are ugly and taint the truth entirely. It makes everything you say afterward invalid, even if what you say afterward is true, because you lose your credability. Not all Republicans participate/d in, nor agree/d with the sexist treatment of Mrs. Clinton. Blaming all with Republican association for the sins of the few makes what could have been a true statement false.

Can we agree that sexist behavior is simply inexcusable no matter who it’s coming from, or who it’s aimed at? If so, is being sexist in regard to Palin justified because of sexism toward Clinton?

            • herb says:

I don’t read every comment here (better things to do), but there has been a noticable difference in the discourse on both sides. This whole conversation is juvenile. The first half of the comment is directed at anyone (including EP) that takes the same fallacious stance.

In a rare turn, even you sink to the blame game. Rather than attack an issue or a principal you have chosen to attack a person’s character. I half expect it from Jellybeans, EP, and Megabob, but I am dissappointed to see it from you.

        • Charlie Foxtrot says:

          how is that obvious?

          • Evil Pundit says:

It’s obvious because the Obama has less executive experience than the dog.

            Proof:

The dog has no executive experience.

Obama’s only executive experience was running the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge with his terrorist friend Bill Ayers. The CAC was a $100 million failure.

Therefore, Obama has negative executive experience, making his qualifications less than those of the dog.

A democrat congressman has a REAL sexual relationship with one of his male paiges (underage at the time) and STILL has a seat, yet a Republican has ANY misconduct or misjudgement and the mantra is always the same: “S/He should resign… Indict him….Impeach him. Sounds a liiiiiiiittle hypocritical, don’t you think?

                • Ashton says:

usually all that pressure to resign comes from the republican party’s conservative side from what i can tell. which makes sense because it seems all there is left to the republican party is the conservatives.

regardless, the republican party has become much more morally conscious, and since they have their own cable channel they can focus much more attention on the stories they feel need attention. it’s as simple as that.

                  • Larry says:

The Republican Party usually applies pressure in response to the yammering within the Dems. And I LOVE the argument that, because the Democrat Party has no moral compass, it’s members are free to do as they wish.

You know, my husband is Navy, and I don’t recall ever having to buy candybars from him. It’s a matter of priorities, ema. I think probably every commenter on this site has mentioned how many incredibly stupid people there are out there, regardless of their political affiliation. Frankly, a well educated (or at least literate) population might make better choices in a democracy than we’ve been able to over the last few years. Maybe a better educated group of voters could argue over policies and strategies for improving our situation instead of whose candidate (or candidate’s wife) is a bitch.

              • jellybeans says:

It won’t hurt – maybe then the teachers won’t be spending their own money on “luxuries” that got cut in the latest round of budget slashes. You know … pencils and such.

Ok, so test scores are down, drop out rates are high and they can’t pay teachers a living wage and they can’t affor pencils!? And we want to reward them for that with more money? Do you know how insane that sounds? What about some oversight? What about “Hey! What are you doing with all the money?” I pay property taxes and I would like to know why they can’t get it together.

                  • herb says:

So the solution is to cut even more money? Brilliant! Why didn’t we think of that before!

                  • jellybeans says:

I work with teachers, many of them spend $100 or more a month on stuff that we used to have in class as a matter of course. Spare pencils, crayons, art paper, project supplies etc etc.
Some schools make the kids share books. They can’t take them home because the other class needs them too. Many schools can’t afford science lab equipment or computer lab equipment or scientific calculators. How can America teach competitively if we can’t provide the tools needed to learn?
You love your laptop Ema, lets say you were learning about computers for the first time – without a computer.
Now, why would we cut more money? We are already nickle and diming our kids out of a place in the global marketplace.

                    • ema says:

Ok, so lets have some oversight and see where all the money is going, that’s all I’m saying. I don’t think I said to cut funding. Teachers should have fair pay and should not have to pay for supplies. Sounds like there may be some beaurocratic nonsense going on because I know we spend quit a bit on funding for schools.

                      • MegaBob says:

I send my kids to a private school- and the cost per child is LESS than the cost per child in the local Public (government run) school system. Yet they get a much better education. Why? A much lower Administrator-teacher ratio than in public schools for one. Throw more money to the government and it will just suck it up like a financial black hole!

                        • herb says:

Yeah, the success rate of private schools are significantly higher than public schools. They are allowed to be selective with their enrollment.

As to where the money goes in schools: try asking. My guess is that a significant portion is bled away by the increase in the cost of operations (gas for buses, cost of living increases, deferred maintenance, the need to insure themselves in case some damn kid acts up and the parents get their panties in a bunch….

I do know a fair portion goes into IT, as schools try to keep up to the pace of society, including the buffer for lost, damaged, or stolen computers.

One of the local high schools here had the yearly budget for the English department slashed to three thousand dollars for the department for the year. It really limits the number of new books that can be ordered, among other things.

                        • Musicmom870 says:

MB, think about it a minute. It’s like the cost of insurance. When you deny coverage to the high risk, more costly participants, the cost of premiums goes down. Public school has to educate whoever parents drop off with us. How many of your children’s peers had to be catheterized? Any drug/alcohol exposed kiddos? How many children with autism were mainstreamed into their classrooms?
I’m not going to defend bloated administrations, though, that’s something we should look at. But it’s hardly the only reason for the difference in cost.

                        • herb says:

(A cap on the prices of textbooks would be nice, too)

Actually, quite a few. You wouldn’t believe how many adopted kids go there and the physical problems they have. The kids get along with them fine. It’s the Administrators that suck up the money !

Soooo what you’re agreeing to is the concept that workplace reform needs to be done from the top down, that we should focus on putting the employers into check, rather than allowing the trickle-down to effect the employees, right?

The EID e-mail was a conservative effort to designed to imply that all muslims were terrorists, and was passed along through conservative friends e-mail channels, consistently over an extended period of time. 2. Read Coulter, Savage, listen to Limbaugh (the first to attack the child of a politician — he didn’t agree with, a child who was 13 years at the time, by the way — but that’s OK with you conservatives, your own rules don’t apply to yourselves). 3. Try living a life of discrimination, continue to support your country, yet still be treated as second class, then talk about this issue, oh, and again, the flag pin-pledge issue was false, yet continued to be propigated throughout conservative channels. I do agree the tone of current politics is wrong…so what are you, megabob and ep going to do to change it? I challenge the three of you to prove me wrong and unilaterally stop the false attacks.

                • ema says:

“designed to imply”? Did it come right out and say all muslims or all liberals are terrorists?

I’m pretty easy…I’ll discuss one on one, any issue, hell once in a while I’ll admit I’m wrong, well maybe, but I will also admit that I can be a pain in the behind… I’d prefer to discuss issues, because i do agree this lol was stupid, but if someone wants to degenerate to insults, we can do that too.

Close, switch the sentence around and it’s accurate.
It implied that all terrorists were Muslim or liberal.

(Wikipedia excerpt) Obama is Christian, July 2008
polls have shown that some Americans incorrectly believe that
he is a Muslim or was raised as a Muslim
When CNN’s Larry King cited the latter poll, Obama responded
that “…I wasn’t raised in a Muslim home,” and said that
advancement of the misconception insulted Muslim Americans

The only reason people suspected or believed him to he a
terrorist was because of his Muslim sounding name. Like that’s
a prerequisite no suicide bomber can do without.

‘Don’t vote for the guy with the terrorist name.’
is a new slogan I’ve seen lately. It’s infuriatingly ignorant
how negatively stigmatized the name Hussein is even though
                    it’s a very common name. It’s Muslim there for it’s a
                    pre-terrorist warning!

No one goes around saying “Don’t vote for John McCain Gacy!”

                    “He’ll rape your kids!”

*sigh* They -would- be dumb things -if-they’d-ever-been-done-. The tactics of “pundits” like EP is to repeat a smear until people believe it. 1) Those politicos crying the most about flags pins are themselves often not wearing them; ; and when exactly did wearing a piece of enameled metal become a test of patriotism? 2) Obama holds his right hand over his heart when reciting the Pledge, as can be seen on C-Span (tho’ I’m sure some people think it’s CGI or something); the “photo” circulating was taken during the national Anthem, when hand-over-heart isn’t part of the ceremony. 3) Michelle never said she wasn’t proud to be an American; this is what is politely called “a lie” (The proper term is something akin to “malicious libel/slander”). Her quote: “… and for the first time in my adult life, I’m *really* proud to be an American.” Repubs have been deleting the word “really” in a spineless attempt to swiftboat her, as they attack any headstrong woman of the opposing political party.

I don’t want to get into this big debate. But I would interject that everything said during the debate is up for scrutiny. Only the person that said it knows the true intention of their word. So, when Michelle used the word “really”, it can be interpreted as “very” or “actually”. If she substituted “really” with “very” it would have been a non-issue. If she had said “actually”, then it would take us to where we are right now. Some people take it one way and others take it the other. I personally don’t care if she is proud or not, she isn’t the candidate. However, I hope when she does make speeches in the future she chooses her words more wisely.

  20. The Breakdown says:

    Breaking this down grammatically:

There are 2 possibilities for speaker of this statement: Obama, or an off-camera unknown narrator.

In both cases, the word “this” is assumed to be the dog he is holding.

If Obama is the speaker, then the word “his” (running mate) would refer to McCain. If an off-camera narrator is the speaker “his” would have to refer to Obama, as there is no other indicator that others are involved at this point.

“She’d” would seem too refer back to “this” (the dog), though it could be argued that with Palin as a known quantity that could be refered too, it could in fact mean Palin. In either case, “She” is more qualified than Obama, as “bitch” is an insulting pronoun referring back to “she”. She again could reference both the dog or Palin.

Thus, if Obama is speaker, he is saying: “If this dog was McCain’s running mate, it would still be more qualified than I am.”

If an off-camera narrator is speaking, they are saying: “If this dog was Obama’s running mate, it would still be more qualified than (I am/Palin).”

Note that in the second case, the speaker could be saying the dog is more qualified than Obama, which would grammatically make sense, or they could be saying the dog is more qualified than Palin, which would imply a relationship of Dog>Palin>Obama and thus does not make sense that Palin would be the refered to she in that instance.

In each way this is an insult to Obama. In no way can this be read as an insult to Palin without insulting Obama more, though it could be used to insult both. If this was not the intention of the writer, they should be more careful with their pronoun usage.

    • GomerPhyls says:

Where do you get the Dog>Palin>Obama? I read it as an off-camera speaker saying: “And if this were Obama’s running mate, She’d still be the more qualified bitch.” Thus the speaker would be saying that if Obama had chosen the dog as his running mate, the dog would still be more qualified than Sarah Palin.

      • Robert says:

Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama! Obama was a senator for less than 2 years when he decided he was ready for the Presidency! To say anyone is less qualified than Barack Obama is ridiculous! He’s running on his skin color and socialism, nothing more.

      • The Breakdown says:

A pronoun isn’t supposed to reference something that hasn’t already been established in the sentence. Thus “This” must be the dog, and “His” really should refer to Obama, due to lack of reference.
I’m sure your way is what the writer intended, but that’s not what they wrote.
The only other interpretation that could be taken, which would be a stretch, would be to say that the “she” is refering to “his running mate” meaning Biden (not that it’s saying Biden is a she, but rather that the dog is the she and is being compared to his running mate which has no defined sex and thus could be Biden). But I find it hard to argue that a dog would have more experience than Biden no matter which side of the aisle you’re on. However, this sets up the comparison dog>Biden>Obama, so Obama comes out badly in the end again.
If it was intended as a Palin slam (which it seems is likely) the writer has not done it well.

  25. Robert says:

    ROFLCOPTER! That’s awesome!

    And so, so true.

  26. Maryland Belle says:

Note to all the scary republican trolls out there on this thread (excuse the use of the word troll, I’m used to posting on the cat threads):

Now presenting the world’s longest shush:
    Sssssssshhhhhhhhhuuuuuussssshhh….

Maybe there is a reason that lol’s about your party are more abundant…y’all take offense so easily, it’s more fun to make fun of ya? Or maybe just because republicans are more make fun of able.

The little dog’s poop would be a better veep than Palin. She disgusts.

  28. Anonymous says:

I’m not an obamaphile or anything but you HAVE to admit that’s funny. I mean 10 points for proper use of term.

  29. Too Good For You says:

I’m sure I’m not the only person here who is pretty freakin’ tired of the stupid Admin of this site letting all these derogatory terms against women being used all the time. Sure as hell bet this guy won’t let pics labeled with “Spic” or “Nigger” get posted, but “Bitch” and “Trollop” are ok. Heck, why stop at playing nice at just call every woman a “Cunt”?

    • GomerPhyls says:

Maybe you should try “Lil’ Sambo” as a derogatory term for Obama since Palin is quoted as saying this about him… Just like McCain has been quoted as calling Hillary a “bitch” and his own wife a “trollop” and a “cunt.”

  30. Becca says:

Yeah, I don’t know who I’m voting for yet and I winced when I saw this. If you don’t like her politics, go after that. Sexism isn’t cool. I wouldn’t like it aimed at Hilary either. I have plenty of other, less stupid things to not like Hilary over.

  31. fasfan says:

It just cracks me up that everyone thinks Obama’s more qualified… He went from nothing to being a senator to the democratic nominee in 2 freaking years… 2 YEARS…
Palin has been governor for 2 years and was a mayor and in charge of a company before that…
She’s WAY more qualified to be VP than he is to be President.

    • Ignatz says:

      Obama:
Harvard law degree. 8 years in the IL state senate. Over ten years teaching congressional law.

      Palin:
4 colleges in 5 years. A degree in Communications. Running a town with a huge meth problem into $20 million debt, bankrupting the Matanuska Maid dairy, and losing the carwash because she couldn’t be bothered to file the paperwork. Staffing important positions with her high school BFFs.

She’s perfectly qualified to be a republican candidate.

    • Josh says:

fasfan, it cracks me up that you watch more fox news than actually thinking independently. Your argument is worth about as much as the US dollar will be with 4 more years of the current SPEND policy. Geez let’s give the rich bigger tax cuts, not much for the middle class, fund a multi-trillian dollar war, and keep asking countries such as China for money. That’s fiscal responsibility. Even Greenspan basically called McCain’s increased tax cuts moronic (and if you don’t know, which you probably don’t, Greenspan is as republican as it gets). Sad fact of the matter is that whomever gets elected WILL have to raise taxes to pay for 8 years of Bush’s spending spree with the Corporate USA credit card. Remember in 1988, “Read my lips, no new taxes!”. Funny, that statement got Bush Sr elected, but also cost him re-election, since he wrote into law the largest overall tax increase in history, which he had to do before the USA went completely bankrupt, why, because Reagan’s trickle down policy was a huge failure, and someone had to pay for it. So, McCain can claim to give tax cuts, but if he is the straight talk express he’s severely senile. I guess he’s nothing but a say whatever it takes to become president because this is my last chance statement.

Holy crapolla. This is so funny I just choked on my spaghetti!

  33. danyell says:

    How uncalled for…

…I would think that her policies and lack of experience would be enough to make fun of her about, but I guess some people can’t help but bring sexism into it.

Wassamatta? Did the VP candidate emasculate someone?

I hate Sarah Palin. For her policies. Refer to her as a “bitch” is no better than had you referred to Barack Obama as a “nigger”. But I bet you’d be ok with the former and not the latter.
