I wonder about the reference to the RNC Riot Police. They don’t actually belong to the RNC. Might be a bonus if they did though! (j/k)
I find it remarkable how many of these officers are all named “Police”. Must be a big family.
(‘Cause, y’know, uniformed officers are supposed to have their names displayed so that if there are any complaints of impropriety a name can be provided to facilitate an expedient inquiry. Just sayin’.)
Some cops have their name on their special gear, but I think that’s mostly just SWAT guys. I think in cases like this where they have to mobilize so many guys they use the standard stuff from the armory. That’s a good question though I wonder what the policy is.
The policy (in theory) is that officers are supposed to have their names showing, even if it means amending the riot gear slightly. This isn’t practical to do this, though, especially when the force is needed /en masse/, so this little legal courtesy falls by the wayside.
Like so many legal courtesies lately.
I’m sure their names are on their uniforms under their tac gear.
You don’t alter tac gear, as it has been constructed to specifications.

This makes me kick myself for not photographing the cop who was photographing the protesters. He was just six feet away, and I saw him snappin’ frames with his Sony. It was actually quite funny.

They don’t need names on their gear, we couldn’t read them through the tear gas and pepper spray anyway. Waste of resources and such.
