What exactly about this is a lol? Are we gonna start seeing pictures of babies dressed up like fruit next?

    Aww!
    Very cute

  4. Emma says:

How bored does the older daughter look…

  5. CBinNH says:

Talk about the “shock and awww” factor. Almost too cute for words. ^_^

  6. PortlandMark says:

I really, truly, deeply hope McCain/Palin go down in flames in November, but I wouldn’t mind if the media finds some way to keep liitle princess in the news. She’s got a lot of personality!

    • matt says:

I hope America sees the fraud Obama is, the lack of experience he has, and realizes that you need to be far more than a good speaker to be president. So vote for McCain and do America a favor

      • jellybeans says:

I hope everyone realizes how many lies have been spewed by McCain and Palin. Easily verifiable lies. Lies about Palin’s standing up to big oil (all she did was get them to pay Alaskans a stimulus) lies about the bridge to nowhere which she supported up until she was in office (PS, when is she going to give back the money for that?) Lies about earmarks? (she was on the red list 3 years running for most earmarks requested and received – what small town mayor hires a lobbyist to go after federal earmarks?) Lies about Obama’s tax plans?

        • steve says:

Boy, she sounds terrible. But I hear she has a 90% approval rating as the Gov. Someone must be cooking the books right?

          • jellybeans says:

umm … that is not true, if you read the articles in Anchorage daily news her approval rating in Alaska was actually at 60% and falling.
I think a lot of people were a bit disgusted by her laughing on a morning show as the host called her rival and cancer and mocked the woman’s weight. (the woman in question is a cancer survivor) Palin’s office staff actually came out and called it unprofessional and disgusting.

            • Dave says:

LOL steve owned by jellybeans actually taking half a second to look up a source rather than “I HEARD”, as he tried in desperation to look intelligent. I mean, talk about “cooking the books” – your opinion isn’t far off when you try to spit out hear-say (and probably just plain made up) untruths.

        • MegaBob says:

If you want to kill off half the Conservatives here, just compliment Palin- we’ll die of a heart attack !

          • TheLarrikin says:

            Complementing is like losing.

I thought Biden was a good choice for the Democrats (though not the best), and believe that it will help them out, for what it’s worth. But you’ll never hear the raving lunies on their side reciprocate. *shrug*

            • Seth says:

I thought Palin was a good choice for the Republicans. Conservatives and ‘independents’ are easily swayed by looks over substance, so she is possibly the best choice, at least as far as winning the election goes. There, I can reciprocate your back handed compliment with one of my own, ‘for what it’s worth.’

              • TheLarrikin says:

Not backhanded, friend. ‘For what it’s worth’, intended to specify the weight generally pulled by a vice-presidential candidate. He’s not going to win the election for the Democrats, as no VP candidate should.

And as far as looks over substance goes, I believe Obama might, to an extent, fall into this. I think his inability to respond to on-the-spot questioning shows his lack of experience and/or his lack of independent thought. At least I attempt to provide reasoning supporting my claims. I’m not saying they’re true (simply ‘claims’), but at least reasoning gives us discussion points for extended conversation. :)

            • sup says:

Maybe it’s because Palin is an awful choice for the Repubs? I guess Dems should just pat Repubs on the back and lie anyway…

            • jellybeans says:

I thought she spoke her lies very convincingly?

            • musicmom870 says:

Well, I think Mrs. Palin’s pretty. And the princess is adorable, no question there!

      • Phaelin says:

He barely has the going for him – just listen to him speak when it’s not something written down before him.

      • Mr. Woodchuck says:

Fu*k you picking a female running mate was just yo get the womans vote

        • TheLarrikin says:

It was a smart choice – you can vote historically in an election, whether for a minority ethnicity or minority gender. Makes the voter feel important.

          • ThePowerPanda says:

Women aren’t a minority in the United States. We actually make up 50.8% of the population. Men are the minority.

            • MLD says:

Minority is not determined by numbers but by power. And men still have the power in this county (as evidenced by earning inequality and the ever present glass ceiling).

            • TheLarrikin says:

But if women aren’t the minority, why do they get ‘minority benefits’? I know quite a few women who believe that all this ‘help’ only makes it seem like women can’t succeed on their own. And quite a few of them are in places to prove to the government that it can be done otherwise.

              • Malarky says:

The need help because they can’t do things as well. Take driving, running, or opening jars of mayo for instance. They often end up leaving the toilet seat down (sigh). When will they learn to leave it up when there are men in the house?

      • scorrybreac says:

I hope America sees how both sides lie and we can’t trust politicians.

    • steve says:

I am not the biggest fan of McCain. But I can tell you this, I like him more than the prospect of a Marxist president. Socialism may work (barely) in other countries, but it will not work here. Do some research. Investigate. Look at what socialism has done to Canada, Britain, and France, just to name a few.

      • bittervoter says:

Hey Steve, guess what? My dad moved here to escape from Communist Yuegoslavia, and he supports Obama. Obama is not a marxist, so if I were you, I’d stop making an ass out of yourself. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

        • g-money says:

It really may be an indication of your dad’s stupidity, but you never know.

          • bittervoter says:

How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when that’s all you can say? I don’t care if you insult me, but don’t insult my dad. My dad has a Ph.D. in engineering and worked for Raytheon all his life, and did projects with DARPA. Based on your response, I’d say he’s a great deal smarter than you, I’d say there are 12 year olds smarter than you.

        • steve says:

Here’s the definition of Marxism: the system of economic and political thought developed by Karl Marx, along with Friedrich Engels, esp. the doctrine that the state throughout history has been a device for the exploitation of the masses by a dominant class, that class struggle has been the main agency of historical change, and that the capitalist system, containing from the first the seeds of its own decay, will inevitably, after the period of the dictatorship of the proletariat, be superseded by a socialist order and a classless society. Now you tell me if you are able to read between the lines and pull out a correlation with Obama’s views. I can, and so can my conservative bretheren.

      • clamboy says:

Yeah, those higher life expectancies must be really tiring. And all those paid vacations! Relaxation, recreation, time with loved ones…yuck!

        • bittervoter says:

clamboy, what you described I agree with, but I don’t think its marxism. As the daughter of someone who lived in Tito’s Yuegoslavia, it was not a great place to be. My dad’s family was still dirt poor, and while they weren’t shipped off to a gulag for being religious, were discriminated against as far as employment went and had rocks thrown at them while they went to church. Not good stuff.
Issues are not as simple as many here would like to make it.

          • MLD says:

If your dad is from Yugoslavia, why can you not spell it correctly?

            • Grammar Police says:

Because the umlaut is not easily typed without ASCII, the proper way to represet the sound is to place the letter e after the vowel that would have had the umlaut.

          • clamboy says:

d’oh, maybe. I was replying to Steve’s implications of the horrors visited upon France and Canada, etc., ‘cos they’re so “socialist”.

            • boom says:

Silly me, I just can’t see the connection between universal healthcare (which only the US out of all 1st world countries lacks, BTW) and the international communist threat.
Still, if there’s a candidate who thinks <5 mil per annum is a modest income, we could use a little socialism.

      • Jim says:

I’m all for a Marxist government. I’d vote for Groucho anytime!

  7. jessica says:

    SOOOOOO FREAKIN CUTE!!!

  8. steve says:

I would imagine the whole convention deal is quite boring for a child that age. Nor is she probably old enough to understand what to do during the National Anthem.

    • Phaelin says:

Indeed. The convention is boring to many of the adults in attendance too, so I can only imagine what a little girl thinks about all the big people and their lack of dolls. What kid wouldn’t be bored. =P

  9. bittervoter says:

I must say, as much as I’m looking forward to seeing Obama beat the snuffing out of Mcsame and Plain (or Viagra/Vagina as Jane so brilliantly put), that little girl is really, really cute.

    • DoctorWorm says:

If everyday Americans really can be duped by a guy who runs around chanting “change” and just mindlessly regurgitating what people tell him to say, then I’d have to say this country deserves him as president. Barack Hussein Obama for President of…the United States?! And Biden is about as exciting as oatmeal. Neither of them have had an independent thought this entire campaign. Obama has been in government for about a year, and already is notorious for missing votes in the Congress with the lowest approval rating in years. What credibility! But as long as he grins and yells “CHANGE!” people will vote for him. It makes me lose faith in the intelligence of the average American citizen.

      • TheLarrikin says:

That is, assuming the average American citizen _has_ any intelligence.

        • fjaradvax says:

Those who do not should apply to the Central Intelligence Agency.

        • ReTARDIS says:

I don’t see why people are either stupid or ignorant for voting how they want to. Furthermore, history dictates that it doesn’t matter what the stupid or ignorant vote because it can be disregarded, anyway. Seriously, why bother calling people stupid for voting for a hope for change? As along as we vote and get a TRUE record of what the country really wants, is anyone really, truly stupid?

      • Seth says:

You know what makes me lose faith in the average American? When people believe that the incumbent party will somehow magically transform into the party of change. When they think a guy who voted with Bush 95% of the time is somehow a ‘reformer.’ When they think a woman who handed $500 million to big oil for a pipeline to bring our natural gas to Canada is somehow an outsider. When they think that being physically close to Russia somehow makes a person competent in foreign affairs. When they think that a proven supporter of the Alaska Independence party will stand up for America. When they think inexperience in their opponents is bad, but inexperience in the person a heartbeat away from the presidency is good. That makes me question the intelligence of the average American.

        • DoctorWorm says:

I’d rather have a president and vice-president that get things done, frankly. Not this smiling charade of “we’ll all live in peace forever, hold hands, and sing Kumbaya while the proletariat get handouts of money” bullshit Obama is preaching.

Why do you hate Bush so much, “Seth”? I’m going to assume it’s because of the War in Iraq and soaring gas prices, because that’s all anybody ever really complains about. I’m not going to say anything about how the war is winding down, the insurgency is starting to falter, and we’re pulling troops out while stability is being restored thanks to the troop surge Obama voted against (one thing he actually did vote on). I don’t need to. I just need to ask; why didn’t the Democratic Congress do anything about it? The Democrats constitute a majority in Congress. They could have ended this war the day after they were elected by cutting off funding. Yet no one complains about the Democrats going along with Bush. How can you claim to be the party of change when you’re just a bunch of sheep who blindly follow yet hypocritically criticize others for doing exactly what you supported? (Oh, and about the gas prices. Obama is against offshore drilling. He wants to increase dependency on foreign oil.)

Palin has done more as governor of Alaska than Obama has done in his entire lifetime. Supporter of the Alaska Independence party? How about a supporter of a racist, hate-mongering preacher who thunders about how glad he was the 9/11 attacks happened? Or not just a supporter, but a spouse of someone who claims she was never proud to be an American until the country nominated her husband as a presidential candidate? And you dare insinuate Palin won’t stand up for America? She wants this country strong. Obama wants this country weak. There’s no such thing as conservatives and liberals in this election; there are Democrats and Americans. Which one are you?

          • clamboy says:

            I call Poe’s Law!!!

          • bittervoter says:

Wow, sounds just like Ann Coulter. It’s *so* American to call anyone who disagrees with you stupid and un-patriotic. It’s people like that are a disgrace to America and everything that stands for.
If you can’t do anything but spout the same attacks that have already been adressed by Obama, and isult all who diagree with you, you can bet I’m not going to dignify anything else you say with a respose.

            • DoctorWorm says:

Yes, it’s so stupid to call anyone who says “I have never been proud of my country to this point” unpatriotic. Silly me. Where’s my political correctness?

Obama addressed these attacks? How? All he’s said was that “I don’t agree with him” and his wife apologized. Ok.

I’m sorry for my previous statement. Really.

Do you believe me? Do you think that because I said I’m sorry, the paragraphs I wrote before are null and void?

Dupe, dupe, dupe. I can’t believe you actually believe this stuff.

          • ema says:

Obama finally admitted on OReilly that the surge actually did work, of course he didn’t vote for it…

          • musicmom870 says:

It’s not the gas prices, Dr., it’s the whole wiping his ass with the constitution thing. The same constitution McCain pledged to uphold and defend. And then sat idly by voting to let Bush do what ever he wanted and not asking for any accountability from his party “leader”. My only guess is that this “maverick” thought if he just kept quiet Bush would help him get his turn next.

      • Christine says:

Who’s to say that anyone is being duped? Some voters actually look at the plans and platforms laid out by both candidates and see that both are lacking.

And as far as “been in government for about a year,” try over ten. He was elected the the US Senate in 2004 and to the Illinois Senate in 1996.

I don’t mind mudslinging, but at least sling some facts. Which I didn’t see much of during the RNC, and the AP broke all of those down.

        • bittervoter says:

Exactly. This election isn’t about thinking one candidate is flawless and the other is evil. It’s about who is going to do the most for the American people and who will take us in the best direction, and people should vote for whom they think is best.

      • jellybeans says:

And yet CHANGE is such a good line that McCain and Palin are trying to steal it … can’t think up their own?

        • bittervoter says:

Ha! Yeah, I think some guys even chanted “yes we can” for a bit last night. Talk about a lack of new ideas. ;)

      • herb says:

I understand it’s hard for you to grasp this, but Obama -has- outlined his plans, on more than one occasion. The problem, of course, is that he hid them in some secret corner teh interwebs that doesn’t contain LOLs and Fails.

      • jellybeans says:

If Change was such a bad slogan why did McCain steal it?

    • Jane St.Clair says:

      Viagra/Vagina was Fillerbunny’s not mine!

    • sup says:

      McSame/Failin’

  10. debbeh says:

We might as well give our oil to Canada – the US doesn’t seem to want it.

  11. ReTARDIS says:

At the RNC, the little girl was holding her baby brother who was sleeping and one camera caught her licking her hand and smoothing his hair to his head. Even the most hardened anti-McCain/Palin could see how adorable that was. Seeing that, I got the feeling she knew it was a grooming method and cares about her baby brother enough to help him out. That’s love. At least, that’s what I’d like to think. Perhaps the media bamboozled me yet again.

    • Catnip says:

I saw her do that. It was adorable. She’s too young to consciously be acting for the cameras, in my opinion, so her actions say to me that she has been raised well. And, in the event that McCain is elected (can’t say whether or not it’ll happen; elections are still a few months off) and something bad happens to him (which has the same probability as something happening to Obama), it’ll be nice to know that Palin is qualified to be America’s Mom.

      • jellybeans says:

but the problem isn’t with her as a mom (or at least we aren’t supposed to talk about that or the pugs cry) it is with her as SUPREME OVERLORD and thought police.
She wants books banned, Roe v Wade overturned, Creationism in science class … etc etc etc

        • MLD says:

This is exactly why, as a woman, I am terrified of Palin.

She doesn’t even want abuse/rape/life-threatening situation exemptions to her abortion ban.

And frankly, I’ll thank the gov’t to keep their laws off my uterus

          • ReTARDIS says:

I know. I don’t understand how she, as the mother of a disabled child and who, I might add, HAD the choice to either continue her pregnancy or not, can take everyone else’s right away. I am no longer a childbearing woman but Christ, if I want to rip out my uterus and make a bong out of it, you’re not gonna stop me.

        • Jessie says:

May I inquire why creationism being taught in school is such a horrible thing? I believe, since there is no indisputable entire truth to any of the existence theories we should teach all of the leading one, which, as it turns out, creationism happens to be one of them. Many people believe it, I’d venture to say more believe creationism than the big bang. Possibly. Everyone holds up the Scopes trial as a beacon of America’s intelligent acceptance of the new class material, but isn’t that a little hypocritical? Shouldn’t all leading theories be taught in school?

          • Jordan says:

Because Creationism is a belief system that applies to a SPECIFIC RELIGION, and is based on religious teachings rather than science. I have NO PROBLEM if people choose to believe that, but it should be taught in their churches, where people CHOOSE to send their children, or at least optional, not mandated in public schools where there are people of all faiths.

If we were going to be so “equal” about it, then public schools would have to teach every possible theory of creation- not just Christianity’s. Perhaps instead of trying to shove it into ALL science classes, since there already isn’t enough time to fit in everything we need to learn before the end of the year, or before the AP test, (Personally, my class had to read and outline the first 5 chapters of AP Biology over the Summer, this year, just so we’d be able to cover everything during the year.) we just make it an option?

In the same way that I can choose whether I want to take AP Biology, Physiology, AP Chemistry, or IB Physics, those religious students who want to learn more about Creationism can take it as a Philosophy class, or whatever. That way, people who don’t want to be preached to, don’t have to be.

            • Lyn says:

Exactly. I have no problem with teaching it in a religion or philosophy class, especially if they also cover the creation stories of the other major religions. However, I don’t think it has any place in a science class, especially since it seems unlikely that any creation stories other than the Christian one would be covered.

              • ascholer says:

As far as the big bang is concerned, I believe John Paul II spoke publicly in favor of that one!
But I agree with those who state that it is fine to teach creationism, if you teach it where it belongs: a course on religion. And it is pretty obvious that many in this country need educating on the religions of the world. Sufis are not Wahabis, Wiccan does not equal Satanist, etc…
Not to mention we need to teach political science. Social democracies are NOT communist. I should know, having many relatives in Danmark. The taxes may be high, but that doesn’t mean you can’t become rich. It just means that no one dies for lack of hospital care or food. And by the way, Danmark now has ‘upper tier’ hospitals for those who want to pay more–not exactly your father’s socialized medicine, is it?.

            • mangels says:

Exactly which SPECIFIC religion are you refering to? Creationism is not only Christian. Judaism also reads the old testament of the Bible. Islam, Judaism, and Christainity all trace there roots back to ONE biblical patriarch – Abraham.

I don’t care whether or not you believe in creationism. But you cannot say it expounded in just one specific religion.

Many of the tribal religions prcticed by Native Americans and Aboriginal peoples of Australia also have similar theories about the beginning of time and the universe.

          • MLD says:

I say if creationism is taught then MY religion’s creation–that of His Great Noodlyness, needs to be taught as well.

Sorry, but keep your religion out of the country’s schools unless the CLASS is a religion (a comparative study of the major world religions, taught sans bias, for example).

And, there is a lot more evidence to the Big Bang than to any religion’s creation plan, tbqh.

        • Lallz says:

None of the requests to have books banned at Wasilla Library have succeeded, and none of them were instigated by Palin.

      • Kurt says:

It’s also possible that she watched a cat do it.
Seriously though, I didn’t see it but that does sound adorable. Maybe, regardless of who wins, the palin-lings and obama-lings could still have playdates. I bet they’d get along with each other better than their parents do. We might actually learn something from them.

    • ema says:

Wow, ReTARDIS, that was actually a very nice comment.

  12. yay says:

Hee! Cute little girl. I like when there are pictures that aren’t pro-anti whatever party :)

  13. DeathWyrmNexus says:

    Gotta love those cute kids.

  14. Sandra says:

    SO waiting for this. HAH!

  15. allie0720 says:

Probably the most accurate LOL ever.

  16. signe says:

Aww! Let the kid run for president! He he.

  17. Lallz says:

    Cute little girl ‘08?

  18. Adam says:

I despise Sarah Palin and all that she stands for, but that is pretty cute.

  19. htfgkgk says:

THIS is why I HATE little children…
