This really made the first page? It’s not even that funny. =/

  2. MegaBob says:

Nope- just more Liberal unfunny crap !

  3. Wonders says:

    and only 10 votes?

    • MegaBob says:

      They’re getting desperate ! Palin’s got them worried !

      • n8 says:

Truly, she haunts my dreams. I find myself jumping at shadows, and the wind laughs and whispers “Palinnnn….” on the night breeze.

Actually, wait, no… she’s just a walking clusterf-ck from Alaska who will be a footnote in a few months’ time.

      • DaftPyramid says:

Hell yes it’s got us worried. We could potentially have a(nother) horribly inexperienced, homophobic, anti-science, anti-intellectual, censorship supporting, anti-equal-pay, creationism supporting fundamentalist in the white house.

      • monkeygirl says:

can you really see her running the country in 5 months, after he’s died of old age….. yikes…. No sex ed, and obviously no talking to your own kids about birth control….

        • ema says:

Right, everyone will have to have a bug in their home and if anyone even says the word sex a swat team will swoop into your home and take your kids away, oh and you and your spouse will be forcibly steralized. Probably steralize your kids too since they were contaminated.

          • Ron Pork says:

You guys are so negative. I am so out of here. I’m logging off the Internet and on to the officially sanctioned Palinet. Where porn sites become pottery barns and victoria secret.com has been cleansed to the point of a 1935 version of the Sears and Roebuck catalog. Speaking of Palin. I wonder if she wears a granny-girdle . . .Uh-oh. A knock at the door . . .It wasn’t me man, I didn’t say that, wait . . .Halp!!!!! XD

            • ema says:

Nah, you would miss your porn sites too much. Go ahead, rot your brain and ruin all your relationships so all you have when you are old is a comforting glowing screen in a dark room! Have a good time, that’s all that matters.

              • Jane St.Clair says:

Ummm, before you go though, can we get it in writing that you’re not coming back? Kthxbai!

                • Ron Pork says:

Whoah. Apparently I’ve stumbled in to a man hating nest o’vipers. Look ladies, not my fault your men like porn better than you. Kindly get up off your largess butts and log off poliblog for once in your life and hit the treadmill, they’ll be back.

                  kthxbye

        • Lolnathan says:

Isn’t it great that we don’t live in a dictatorship monkeygirl, and that we don’t have to worry about that sort of stuff? I love the separation of powers.

      • Evil Pundit says:

Yes, the poor libs are in a panic.

McCain’s VP pick is more qualified then their candidate for President! Heck, even the Dem’s own VP candidate is better qualified!

        • DaftPyramid says:

          Unqualified intellectual > Qualified fundamentalist.

          Every day.

          • ema says:

Let’s see what the American voters say about that, which is all that matters in this case. Not your opinion.

            • Evil Pundit says:

American voters, over the years, have proven to be more intelligent than the self-styled “intellectuals”.

              • fjaradvax says:

ROFL! You’re on form today, EP!

              • D'oh says:

Wich explains why the country is pretty f*cked up right now, go go EP!

                • n8 says:

Seriously. Unemployment’s at a five-year high, the dollar is in the crapper, we’re bogged down in two foreign wars with dubious goals, our international reputation is shot, Russia is resurgent, China all but owns us, and Evil Idiot is calling the people who voted for this “Intelligent” ?

                  Yeah, way to go.

              • lol says:

And this is why a religious fairy tale is trying to barge its way into the classroom!

              • jellybeans says:

Well … Palin isn’t an intellectual, self styled or otherwise … took her 6 years and 5 schools to get what? An undergrad in journalism! WOOT!

                • ema says:

She never said she was an intellectual, most people don’t think of themselves like that. That is an elitist term and most Americans do not identify with that at all.

                  • bobby says:

How sad that most Americans hate the idea of being educated and smart. No wonder your education system is crap and your country is going in the shitter.

                    • Jessie says:

How sad that that is an extremely inaccurate statement given many students from other countries travel here to receive an education and often assimilate into the country and we continue to be the greatest country in the world where people continue to immigrate to because of the opportunities provided here.

                      • DaftPyramid says:

No, I live in the US, he’s absolutely right. Plugging your ears and screaming “We are the greatest country in the world!” is intellectually dishonest.

                        • Jessie says:

Dishonest? In what way? I too live in the US and personally I feel if you don’t like it here. There’s plenty to choose from. Get the hell out.

                        • DaftPyramid says:

It’s dishonest because simply saying “We are the greatest country in the world” and leaving it at that means that you are ignoring our country’s obvious faults. Bringing awareness and attention to those faults is the only way we can fix them. Wanting to fix the problems with your country in order to make it better, that is true patriotism. Whether or not this really is “the greatest country in the world” is besides the point. The fact is, this country isn’t perfect, and it isn’t until we acknowledge this fact that we start to make actual progress.

So no, I won’t “get the hell out” simply because I do not blindly support my country rather than patriotically attempting to improve it.

                        • eddiepscetti says:

You make a valid point and I have to admit I like the way your thinking about change. However, aside from the current issues, the country is great for what it stands for. Greatness isn’t in the fact that it exists, but in what it does with it’s greatness. Wars aside, what other country commits the vast resources it has to help those that have been afflicted with natural disasters, plague, hunger, disease, and a whole host of other problems? Adverse to that, when was the last time another country stepped up and assisted the US? How many countries sent aid and assistance during Katrina? How many countries send aid and assistance because of tornados, hurricanes and earthquakes? You see, the greatness of people is measured not in what they say, but in what they do. I still firmly believe the US is the greatest country in the world, despite it’s problems.

                        • DaftPyramid says:

But those things aren’t true simply because we are “great.” They’re true because we have the money and resources necessary. Now, you could argue that we have money and resources because we are great, but I don’t valu the greatness of a country based on how much money they can throw at things, and I don’t think you do either. I value the greatness of a country based on the way it treats the people, citizens and non-citizens alike, based on its ability to protect and provide, it’s ability to keep the peace, based on the quality of the education that’s provided, the standard of living, etc.

The U.S. isn’t the freest country in the world, it isn’t the most democratic country in the world, it doesn’t have the lowest infant mortality rate, it doesn’t have the best education standards, it doesn’t have the best health care, it doesn’t have the best standard of living, we have the highest crime rate in all of the industrialized world, along with one of the highest abortion, divorce, and std, and teen pregnancy rates.

How can a country be “the greatest on Earth” when it’s not the greatest at anything in particular, at all?

                        • eddiepscetti says:

Sorry, but you really missed my point. It isn’t about the money, it’s about the willingness and desire to help others. The fact that the US has the resources doesn’t make it great. It’s the desire to use those resources to help others that makes it great.

                        • DaftPyramid says:

Are we helping the Iraqi’s that we are killing daily? Are we helping the detainees that we’re torturing in Gitmo? Are we helping to stop the genocide in Darfur? When a major American city was flooded by a hurricane, did we rush to their aid? And this is just the government. The American people only tend to offer help to others if they have white skin and believe in Jesus.

                        • eddiepscetti says:

You sir are a complete and total wankstain. I would answer you, but your last comment totally offends the sensibilities.

                  • DaftPyramid says:

Are we electing the team captain of a bowling team here? No, we are electing the leader of the free world. Hell yes I want an intellectual and a member of the educated elite running this country. I don’t want someone I can have a beer with, I want someone who I can trust to make educated decisions.

                • Jessie says:

Still got farther in the world then you seem to be.

            • DaftPyramid says:

I happen to be an American voter, so….yeah….

You can always tell when someone doesn’t have an argument when they pull out “Well that’s just your opinion!!”

  4. Spazzmin says:

This is one of the funniest captions I have seen here for a while.

nom nom nom. His followers often look like mindless children waiting for their fill of bullshit. Classic – great caption SteezieChrist :) hyuck!

  5. jess says:

ummm….. you mean regurgitate? i thought only Lolcats and Loldogs couldnt spell…

  6. walker says:

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a republican or democrat. that picture is just SO ridiculous. I almost lost it when i saw it.

  7. anonymous says:

Are they trying to strangle him?

  8. imitation tofu says:

What in the hell is wrong with him?

  9. Snark says:

Well…in all honesty, I thought this was funny…and I’m voting for the guy. Then I started reading all of the really low, graceless, uninspired, hateful comments from all sides, and it wasn’t funny anymore. I seem to remember that there /used/ to be meaningful discussions on relevant topics. Reading all the comments this week makes me feel like watching ‘2 Girls 1 Cup’ just to get the bad taste out of my mouth. Can we have some civil, open conversation now please? Can we just talk about anything except who’s horny, ugly, stupid, old, or more hateful. “Repubes are stupid,” “No, Democrats are stupid,” “Libtards are more hate filled than Conservatives,” “No, Republitrons are more hatefull…” Truely, is that not the most feckless march of hypocrits?

    • Phaelin says:

I’d love this place to open up a bit more and stop being so anal. But then we wouldn’t have the chance to ZING some people when they screw up! 8D

    • ema says:

I think it will just get worse as we get closer to November.

      • herb says:

Seconded. There’s more at stake than who gets the crappy illustration in a history textbook, and some of us sense that.

    • Lolnathan says:

This is why the two-party system is utter crap. All it does is encourage people to view other Americans as their enemy. There are actually people on this site (and in our country in general) who genuinely hate other Americans for their political or religious beliefs.

The internet just makes it worse, because the otherwise shy or cowardly can voice their ignorant and hateful opinions without fear of social repercussions. If some of the people around here said half this stuff in real life, they’d quickly find themselves without friends.

      • Phaelin says:

And that’s no joke. But seriously, all the hate gets to be ridiculous, and while making fun of zealots on either side is fun, I would enjoy some honest political discourse from time to time uninfluenced by party beliefs. It’d be nice.

        • TheLarrikin says:

You just gotta keep reading. You’ll find it sometimes, and learn who to read and who to ignore. Too bad you can’t collapse comments from specific people. I’d make an account for that.

      • ema says:

Oh, I don’t know if it’s exactly the two party system to blame, may just be the way people are. Probably doesn’t help though.

        • eddiepscetti says:

But just think, if there wasn’t a two party system, the choices would be much greater. Of course chaos could reign supreme, too.

          • Phaelin says:

Right, because then the people would have to THINK for themselves! Too much of a problem for them, it seems. Half of them already think it’s too much to ask…

            • TheLarrikin says:

No, see, you’d still have the party that caters to the unthinking majority, and the rest of the unthinkers (just a few) would go to other parties ‘just to be different’. Because, you know, they’re so concerned with the good of the country and all. *sigh*

          • ema says:

I think it’s just that people don’t know how to communicate effectively with each other, it’s not about the government really.

            • Lolnathan says:

In most other countries there are more than 2 major parties, and stuff still gets done. The problem is in the U.S. there is this culture of divisiveness. Everything has to be split into two distinct groups, which are enemies. There can be no middle ground, no compromise, and certainly no distinct third “team”. Part of it, like you said, is that people don’t know how to communicate. The other part is that people are so used to seeing two teams battling it out, in sports, politics, and life in general, that they cannot comprehend it being any other way. It just gets too complex for them to think about. This is why the radicals on the right and left are so afraid of middle ground. It’s hard to be a loudmouthed zealot when you have to actually start talking about facts, policies, and finding common ground. It’s much easier for these people to just parrot some witty one-liner.

              • ema says:

Yea, it seems kind of civilized! Wonder why it never has worked here? ;D

                • fillerbunny says:

I blame high school football, basketball, and hockey, depending on region.

                  • herb says:

                    I blame fillerbunny.

Seriously, though, I want to institute a five-party system with instant run-off voting (IRV). Pick your top three candidates, and if your #1 doesn’t score enough votes, s/he’s eliminated from the running and we tally your #2…

Then there would be no more of this Us/Them, Red/Blue, Left/Right dichotomy. Also gone would be the dark horse candidate, as the electable seats would better represent a cross-section of American beliefs.

              • ema says:

I still think people would find reasons to hate each other, whether we had a 3, 5, 15 party system it wouldn’t matter. Loudmouth zealots would still find reasons to scream at everyone no matter how many sides there are and I see plenty of facts being tossed about on these pages – it doesn’t matter. Facts can be manipulated by every side. I’m not convinced that would help anything.

      • lol says:

Americans aren’t smart enough to deal with more than two political parties.

    • Ron Pork says:

Wow. Boy did you just walk in to the wrong bar!

  10. Tina says:

huh, not much to say about the picture…unless to say that when McCain says “Country first” he means it.

    I liked him tonight.

    • fjaradvax says:

      Country first, Western later?

    • lowly grunt says:

Y’know, I did too. Unfortunately this is not the McCain who has been running for president for the past 8 years. The McCain of last night is the McCain he would like to be; the one who has been gunning for another run since 2000 has had to tweak his image to appeal to the base of the party and sell himself as someone he is not. The very fact that he has the people who smeared him in 2000 in SC running his campaign now says oodles about how divided he is within himself.

McCain last night was the last time you will ever see that man.

      • Phaelin says:

We can only hope otherwise, I suppose.

      • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Agree. John McCain was an independent minded member of the GOP who was whipped into shape by the two competing factions and the Social Conservatives hold his chock collar, they had final approval authority on his choice for running mate so he didn’t even submit his first choice, they disapproved his next two (Mitt Romney and Tom Ridge) for their hand-picked selection. McCain has sold out in order to occupy a house that the extremests in his party won’t allow him to control.
