But he hasn’t changed his mind yet.

    • Evil Pundit says:

      Palin’s speech was TOTAL WIN.

Democrats are scared now. Really scared.

      • ema says:

True! It was so great!! I would vote for her for president right now.

        • Incapa says:

Wait – you would vote for someone based on a fiery speech and some nice rhethorics that someone else came up with for her?

          • Lucky Bob says:

Uhh…isn’t that the same reason Democrats are voting for Barack Obama?

            • Incapa says:

Well, I wouldn’t know that, but he’s been hopping about delivering speeches for quite some time. This woman came out of nowhere.

              • ryszard says:

Your lack of knowledge does not equate to “nowhere”. Speeches are about all Hussein has been doing.

Palin has been a business owner, PTA member, city councilman, mayor, state ethics board member (she resigned because it was so corrupt, then cleaned it up as governor), lieutenant governor and governor. She helped negotiate the passage of a natural-gas pipeline through Canada, reduced state spending by 13% *and reduced taxes*. Oh yes, and raised five children.

Barack? Hmm . . . he has done drugs, been a “community organizer” (we all know what that means), funneled $14 million to a slumlord, got a sweetheart deal on a parcel of land from the aforementioned slumlord, who was later convicted, going to church so he could listen to black revolutionists, hanging around with a convicted terrorist, and . . . making speeches. Impressive.

You could have found all this out by yourself, but apparently you prefer reading your friends’ bumper stickers.

                • Incapa says:

Sorry,we don’t have bumper stickers over here. We prefer smaller, clearner cars who don’t offer much room for semi-witty remarks.

All I was originally intending to say is that I cannot really believe that people would actually vote for a person for one of the highest offices in your country based on one fierey speech telling a bunch of die-hard fanatics exactly what they wanted to hear.

And as for my lack of knowledge: do you think everybody who browses this site is from the US of A? I very much doubt you could name, say, the most powerful politician in Bavaria (hint: it’s not the pope), let alone every bloody European country. Sorry for not having heard about the Govenor of Alaska before, but local politics don’t exactly make international news.

                  • Sam says:

Oh bull. The US is the least likely to have a bumper sticker on a car compared to, say, the UK. If you do not know what you are talking about then do not criticizw the people of the United States and our way of electing our leaders. You clearly have no idea so quit trying to put down Americans just because you think you can.

People from other countries than the US in a lot of cases feel it is there duty to put down any US citizen when they can. We do not put down you for driving tiny cars. They really do not sell them in the US, probably because we have more room to drive around compared to small countries?

                    • N.A.T.E. says:

or maybe it’s because we’re materialistic douchebags let them have their opinions If you think you’re right campaigning will do your party no good

                    • Xavier says:

“They really do not sell them in the US, probably because we have more room to drive around compared to small countries?”

So, you’ve never seen a Mini Cooper or a Scion where you live?

I can only assume you speak in jest…

                • Sam says:

You are the man(or woman?)..where have all these libs been??? it is so obvious…everyone I ever asked about voting for Obama has said they would vote for him because he is a “charismatic speaker”…gimma a break!

                • Xavier says:

                  “he has done drugs”

Which he addressed amply and openly in at least one best-selling book.

“community organizer” (we all know what that means)

Insinuation fail. What it means, is that he achieved political power locally at the individual and grass-roots level, rather than through the mechanics of the standard political machine. That doesn’t sound sinister enough, though, I suppose.

“She helped negotiate the passage of a natural-gas pipeline through Canada, reduced state spending by 13% *and reduced taxes*. Oh yes, and raised five children.”

Factual fail. Alaskans pay no income or sales tax — the state is funded (to the tune of an embarrassingly large surplus every year) by taxation on oil production activity.

The pipeline of which you speak — the one that probably never will happen because TransCanada doesn’t have the financial wherewithal or political desire now to do it?

The fifth child has just been born — hardly “raised” yet.

                  “lieutenant governor”

Factual fail #2. She ran in 2002 for Lt Governor and lost.

“You could have found all this out by yourself, but apparently you prefer reading your friends’ bumper stickers.”

You could have debunked all of this yourself (hell, a short stop at the Sarah Palin Wikipedia entry (click on my name for the link, in case you forgot how to spell ‘Wikipedia’) would tell you most of this), but clearly you’d rather bask in undending ignorance and let someone else feed you your talking points. Even your failures are rife with fail.

Really, I don’t often see someone who obviously and completely has abdicated themselves from critical or independent thought like this…you must be one of those that minerva talks about, who only knows what conservative pundits tell you to know. *shrug* I can only assume this is an example of Poe’s Law…

            • Nick says:

No it isn’t. Barack Obama writes his own speeches. Don’t believe me? Look it up.

      • fillerbunny says:

um. yeah. ooh. shaking in my boots.

        Viagra/Vagina ‘08!

      • MLD says:

PLEASE tell me that was sarcasm based on whichever idiots comments…

Because the Dems are far from scared of an ultraconservative brain dead VP candiadate with LESS experience than Obama!

        • Lucky Bob says:

How long was Obama in office before he started running? Less than half a year. And what did he do in the Senate that was of notable worth? She actually has a record to show for her time as governor…

          • bittervoter says:

He also spent years in the state senate. Plus, one of the first things he did in the U.S. Senate was co-author comprehensive ethics reform bills, as well as consistently support veteran’s benefits, something McCain voted against.
Obama supporters are not scared, we’re laughing hysterically that the Rublicans think that someone who laid forth almost NO policy statements in that speech, and has views so far right of most of Americans is going help McCain win. She’s spunky yes, a decent speaker, yes, but VP material she is not.

            • Paul L Billingsley says:

No one supporting Mr.Obama has provided the legislation record(Bill numbers, titles,Congressional Record locations, for example)so that we can research what he has claimed to have done.Merely adding your name to a bill title is not indicative of knowlege or a consistent political philosophy. Also,I, for one, would like to see a complete list of all Illinois bills passed when he voted “present”so that we can get a better view of what he supports and doesn’t.Finally,as he does not seem to acknowlege that there’s anything that he can not do,how about some specifics on cost estimates(pehaps from the Office of Management and Budget or the Congressional Budget Office to get reasonably accurate data),together with specific means (and revenue sources) to be used to fulfill his many verbal commitments.

        • ema says:

But remember she has accomplishments too point to, like she said last night, being mayor of a small town is kind of like a community organizer, but with actual responsibilities.

          • jellybeans says:

a small town mayor that fired librarians for not agreeing to ban books … A governor that blew millions on a program to shoot wolves from the air and ignored the fact that Alaska has the HIGHEST drop out level in the country … evidenced by Levi who is himself a drop-out.
Let’s see what else … Oh, she doesn’t follow Iraq (isn’t her son going there?) She does believe it is God’s War though.

            • ema says:

She’s gone after corruption even in her own party which could have been career suicide, I’m sure she has made lots of enemies. She is a public servant first and a republican second. Obama voted “present” in the meantime…

              • jellybeans says:

                Her speech was LIES:
                -
PALIN: “There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform — not even in the state senate.”
                -
THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform legislation.
                -
PALIN: “The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.”
                -
THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama’s plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain’s plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.
                -
Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families.
                -
He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.
                -
PALIN: “I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending … and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress ‘thanks but no thanks’ for that Bridge to Nowhere.”
                -
THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a “bridge to nowhere.”

              • jellybeans says:

Damn those corrupt librarians for not censoring books!!!

              • jellybeans says:

MCCAIN: “She’s been governor of our largest state, in charge of 20 percent of America’s energy supply … She’s responsible for 20 percent of the nation’s energy supply. I’m entertained by the comparison and I hope we can keep making that comparison that running a political campaign is somehow comparable to being the executive of the largest state in America,” he said in an interview with ABC News’ Charles Gibson.

THE FACTS: McCain’s phrasing exaggerates both claims. Palin is governor of a state that ranks second nationally in crude oil production, but she’s no more “responsible” for that resource than President Bush was when he was governor of Texas, another oil-producing state. In fact, her primary power is the ability to tax oil, which she did in concert with the Alaska Legislature. And where Alaska is the largest state in America, McCain could as easily have called it the 47th largest state — by population.

MCCAIN: “She’s the commander of the Alaska National Guard. … She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities,” he said on ABC.

THE FACTS: While governors are in charge of their state guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for example, they assume those duties under “federal status,” which means they report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska’s national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard organizations.

          • ema says:

Obama camp just put out a statement defending “community organizing”. Scared much??

            • herb says:

You go organize anything in the poorer neighborhoods, then sit idly by while some pisses on it. Seriously. It’s what Jesus would do.

By your logic, I’m terrified by people who use the phrase “Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach” without ever having spent a day working in the public school system.

      • 1.618 says:

Scared? Where, how, when, Evil Pundit? Or you just talking out of your ass again?

      • George says:

Yes, the thought of a government that has THIS woman at position #2 IS utterly TERRIFYING.

      • Charlie Foxtrot says:

You must be dreaming. I listened to the entire speech. The closest she came to honesty was her name, I think. I love how people of her ilk set themselves up on the moral highground, yet somehow forget to build adequate overhead cover. Everyone know that when you occupy the highground you need at least 18 inches of overhead cover.

      • kapilly says:

Total win? Yeah, if you consider jokes and sarcasm as wins. Wait…..

  2. Green Is Good says:

Hee hee hee! Oh, that’s naughty. I love it!

  3. info man says:

    lol. Dirty old man,

  4. shinobi says:

Mccain is actually against drilling in ANWR but hes for drilling off the continental shelf.

    • Hueydoc says:

      Comprehension fail, Shinobi-san !

      • shinobi says:

oh i get the joke… shes hot and I’d hit it for sure… but the comment should have read “I dont know why mccain isnt for drilling in alaska” that would have been accurate and funneh

        • Jamieteevee says:

…and wordy and convoluted. Hmm, the clever and often under-utilized DOUBLE NEGATIVE. So much more pleasing than a Double Entendre.

  5. Jim says:

He just wants to lay some pipe deep in that Alaska wilderness. Definite GILF!

  6. inked_hippie says:

I’m sorry but is the joke that people find her attractive? Cuz I’d like to meet those three people and ask some questions.

  7. Charlie Foxtrot says:

You have got to be kidding? If McCain wants to hit this, then he really is old.

  8. Hein says:

Sorry but she is very cute.

  9. Justanotherguy says:

Well… since MacCain invested big bucks in Petrobras, the brazilian semi-state owned oil company… which by the way, holds the world´s most advanced deep-water-offshore-drilling-tech… it is very understandable that he wishes US to invest loads of money on offshore drilling. It only amuses me that NO news ever mention it, not even the democrats talk about it.

well… if he wins… it will be good… for brazilians

    • sweetroscoe says:

You’ll probably find that most Dem’s don’t talk about it because there really isn’t much there. I mean, you make an accusation, but is there even any substance to it? Which sources do you use? Or, do I have to believe this is an Illuminati-Vactican-Pentabulate cover-up on an epic scale?

      • Justanotherguy says:

man… you really tripped balls on that one!!!

WTF has “MacCain invests money in offshore drilling > MacCain advocates offshore drilling” to do with damn Illuminati??? I mean.. it is a pretty simple math… if it sounds too confusing or complex to you, well, you can always go back to Fox News!

    • KirkMouse says:

Petrobras? Is that the Republican version of the Waterbras? And is Palin wearing one??

  10. Yo mama says:

    She’s ugly.

  11. karen says:

Stupid, McCain IS NOT for drilling ANWR. read something. He changed his mind on offshore, but only she is for ANWR.

You should have to take an apptitude test before you are allowed to vote.

    • Phaelin says:

You missed the joke somewhere along your Train of Thought. You should take an aptitude test before you’re allowed to breed.

    • Dave says:

Does it REALLY need to be spelled out? DRILLING = SCREWING. You idiot. Die.

      • sweetroscoe says:

Again, if he’d publicly stated he was for DRILLING in alaska, this might work. No one misses the Drilling=screwing…they just miss where McCain has said “I’m for DRILLING in AK”. Maybe a better caption would be “Maybe McCain should reconsider DRILLING in AK” as it’d reflect at least some truth.

The best satire has SOME truth to it.

  12. Dylane says:

One word explanation for choosng her as V.P. candidate: MARKETING.

  13. DW says:

It’s a shame she has to be reduced to a sex object when she just might be the next VP. Stay classy, commenters.

    • Josh says:

Here’s one uptight b*tch with no sense of humor. And if she’s the next VP I’m headin to Canada. God help us if the old idiot wins, kicks the bucket, and then our country is ran by someone with years of experience as a SOCCER MOM. I respect Palin for her meteoric rise to power but come on! Obama Biden 08, because if something happens to Obama, well I fully trust Biden to run the show!

P.S. I can’t wait till Biden debates her, he’s gonna rip her a new asshole!

      • ema says:

no sense of humor? did you hear her speech tonight? Poor Biden

        • Phaelin says:

On that note, I’m going to go listen to the speech. Missed out completely. :<

          • curia says:

It wasn’t good. I don’t know what speech people watched last night, but it was not the one I watched. I watched her read her speech from the teleprompter, even reading it word for word when talking about her husband! Watch it yourself and see, rather than taking everyone’s word for just how “great” she was.

McCain/Tits ‘08, when he passes away, little Miss Wasilla (runner-up Miss Alaska) will be leading the free world.

            “It’s over.”

        • Ceefax says:

Yep, you’d think with all that time she’d spent locked in a room being coached by speech writers she’d manage to come up with a speech that wasn’t completely devoid of any substance and instead filled with froth and sarcastic cheap shots.

        • Cookies says:

Yeah, I heard her speech.. Still don’t know anything about her. She did nothing but sling insults and showed no substance. I can’t wait for Biden to rip her to shreds. Her “hockey mom” skills won’t serve her the way she thinks they do.

      • CPO Ret says:

… sadly there are lib men afraid strong women … maybe you had issues with the females in your life ? … Hmmmm … and as for the threat on going to Canada, were you one of those who promised/swore and didn’t leave the last time a conservative won the office ??? … so if you didn’t go then, will you really go this time ??? Please …. and as for a “promise of change, by the left” so the #2 is a new wind ??? or just another old “wind breaker” fixture in the senate ??? …. “rip her a new one ???” don’t think so … Soccer mom ? … well if she is one, then she will surely be able to handle ‘little boys” like you ‘eh ? … Palin is a “woman of the west, & of the wild open space” where they stand beside the men and not 10 paces behind like you might wish … now run along and go out side and play nice with the other kiddies ….

        • lol says:

Grammar and punctuation classes. Take some.

        • herb says:

That’s a great line. Liberal men -afraid- of strong women? Are we normally crucified by you and ours for being whipped enough into allowing women the right to earn as much as a man (which they still don’t, on average), or allowing them their own reproductive rights, or trying to provide public assistance for the ones that make the right choice? Oh, we’re soooooo afraid of strong women!

Palin is to feminism what Bill Clinton is to fidelity.

          • sweetroscoe says:

Hmm, Women DO have the right to earn as much as a man. That women don’t as a whole earn as much as men reflect various individual choices…Men tend to choose higher paying jobs that demand greater time (think Doctor, lawyer, and engineers). Women tend to choose lower paying jobs that offer greater flexibility (think teachers, nursing, or various retail jobs). In general, when women DO make the same choices as men, they earn every bit as much…and men working in the same fields as women who make many of the same choices earn every bit as much as their women counterparts.

Women CAN make their own reproductive choices. But after conception, many reasonable individuals feels it’s a little to late to change ones mind about those reproductive choices.

Feminism is supposedly the idea that a woman can be strong and independent who choose their own paths, bucking societal expectations. However, for many “feminist” the so-called “feminist-sympathizers” it’s not…it’s about falling into line, not wandering off the reservation and going against the grain of what so-called “feminist” espouse. Herb illustrates my point beautifully.

            • herb says:

National statistical average of two individuals working the same job, one man, one woman, the woman earns 76 cents to the dollar. It’s not that woman are less ambitious; it’s that they tend to get smaller salaries.

Palin’s brand of… I don’t know what to call it… supports a ban on all forms of abortion for all reasons; her beliefs are such that even married couples should be allowed to use birth control. How are these furthering the goals of women’s rights over their own bodies?

If life begins at conception (as you imply) and here on out the woman is not allowed any control over her uterus (a) would you support increasing the social net for women that may not be able to support these kids on their own? (b) would you charge her for manslaughter if she miscarried? (c) what provisions would you allow for a terminal aberration or high risk pregnancy?

These are just the tip of the iceberg, but I’ll leave it be.

You say I illustrate your point beautifully, but your proof is a mess; I can’t make heads or tails of anything; all I see is a circumlocutory exercise. Feminism is about choice; I’ve no problems with Palin “going rogue” on several of the base ideas: that’s her right after all. What offends is her desire to strip others of the right to choose things for themselves.

              • ema says:

Herb, do you really think she wants to outlaw birth control? Where are you getting this? Please.

                • herb says:

“Sarah Palin opposes the use of birth control pills and condoms — even among married couples.” — Political Wire 8/30/2008

That was my initial tip-off, though (not surprisingly) I’m seeing both sides being painted here.

Strike that argument if you like; I still have others.

              • sweetroscoe says:

Herb, your data is hopelessly bad….
From the US bureau of labor, the women earn roughly 3/4 (0.76 dollars as you contend) that of men…but as noted in the statistics, this is median income for ALL women versus ALL men. You’d love to THINK it’s controlled for age/training/profession, but it’s not. This is the “myth” of the wage gap.

When broken down further, women 27-33 who’ve never had children earn 98% of their male counterparts. Women outside that range who hold similar skills and present similar experience have wage gaps within 10% of their male counterparts.

This is while women are more likely to leave and re-enter the workforce (or simply leave work earlier than men) to raise children, care for elderly parents, or move with their families where they must find a job anew. Women, as stated previously also tend to make choices to place higher emphasis on relationships and family, often leading to lower likelyhood of seeking career advancement. A majority of women tend to select jobs that allow for flexibility than for wages.

As far as your bizarre claim regarding Palin and birth control, you appear to be a little too willing to believe as you wish, without questioning the source enough. The citation has is completely unverifiable, and any link/youtube vid/whatever see to cite the same source. No less than TIME magazine refutes this claim by listing Palin as a birth control supporter (TIME being infinitely more reliable than “political wire”, I’ll trust them). You appear uneasy with your source, but plow ahead regardless with an otherwise baseless claim.

What my personal views of abortion have to do with this, I don’t know…but I’m game:
Response to a) I do support the idea of providing basic help to the child and her mother b) This is too bizarre a question to take seriously. There is nothing from this question that has any basis from the current debate in abortion, and is tantamount to simple dishonest fear mongering. c) Pregnancy can and should be terminated at the will of the mother provided the continuation of the pregnancy presents a danger to LIFE…most of the abortionist tend to want to focus on HEALTH vs LIFE; HEALTH can be a nebulus term that could include virtually anything uncomfortable if so desired (low back pain, high blood pressure, flat-feet, depression) but not quite life-threatening. Yes, life DOES begin at conception, and it’s clearly the life of a human being….even a single cell zygote is a human being; just a stage in the life of a human being you wish to not acknowledge.

You contend that you’ve “got no problem with Palin ‘going rogue’”, yet this too is untrue…as a matter of fact, you were critical of her claims of feminism clearly implying she didn’t fit your view of a feminist, rather than limiting your criticisms to her positions alone.. You contend that she wants to “take away the right to choose” when the only choice she wants to limit is that of taking another human beings life, which when viewed in those terms is perfectly acceptable.

Your voiceferous objections appear either misguided (abortion) or made up (birth control).

Do any of the statistics say women earn equal to or more than men in any demographic?
Are there any statistics for men and women in the same occupation?
If no to the first one, then there definitely isn’t equality in US wages.
If yes to the second one them I would like to analyse those.

None that I scanned through suggested that…although when broken down by hours worked, women made 120% of their male counterparts in the part-time hour segment of 5-39 hours/week…demonstrating that while men may take part-time posistion, they’re more likely to leave to take full-time than women, who are 5x’s more likely to stay in a part-time position when married vs. that of married men.

                • ryszard says:

I think I like you, Roscoe.

Regarding your comment to Herb above, “As far as your bizarre claim regarding Palin and birth control, you appear to be a little too willing to believe as you wish, without questioning the source enough . . . “, I quickly stopped trying to reason with the man. He makes things up (as do most libs), changes the subject when presented with hard information (ditto), and is delusional to the extent that he claims to know what the President and others are thinking. He has made his mind up and isn’t going to let himself be confused by facts.

I’d give it up, were I you.

Ain’t just men afraid of Palin. I’m a chick and I dont trust her a bit. I’ll thank her to keep her hands off my body, legislatively speaking.

        • Ceefax says:

So, Obama makes a joke about not looking like other Presidents and it’s OMG, RACE CARD, RACE CARD, RACE CARD!!!11″ But now you’ve been thrown in the deep end with Palin you’ve resorted to unashamedly playing the gender card?

Image someone else on here who was just as semi-literate as you started a post with “Sadly, there are republicans who are afraid of strong black men…” and you’ll have some idea as to why no-one is taking your post very seriously.

          • CPO Ret. says:

…. “drunken rant?” … sorry but I am an ex Democrat, retired Navy CPO and how I log in is my choice and not yours … and I gave up drinking 20 years ago … but I can see and read the fear of a possible “win” by the “Right side” … it is as bad as being in the room with a bunch of my liberal friends … very short on truths and very shrill on the mantras being fed them … freedom of speach and opinions, not if it doesn’t suit them … I should know for I used to be the same once … but I was very young and naive then and that has changed … “condoms for married couples” ??? … check again and you will find it was said by a pundit and no one has a quote by her having actually said so … some like to call the conservatives “fear mongers” and yet all I see is much babble by so to demean Palin then to wait and see how it plays out …

… besides haven’t you got it yet ???? … some might just vote for the ticket just to see if some you will really leave for Canada this time, ’cause you didn’t the last ……

          Answer me the following questions:

How many times did Obama have to “shake up” his campaign/campaign staff?

How many times did McCain have to “shake up” his campaign/campaign staff?

Which of those campaigns has had better message/staff discipline?

Based on those answers, which candidate comes across as the more effective leader?

          • Catia says:

So you’re saying, his one executive accomplishment is running a campaign with hundreds of advisors, speech writers, and media reps in tow. The guy’s an inexperienced poster boy propped up as a candidate by the far-left Democrat politicians for his charisma & for the ease of control Kennedy, Pelosi, and Reed have over him as their marionette.

    • jellybeans says:

Sorry, did you miss the focus in on the “Hoosiers for the Hot Chick” Buttons at the RNC?

    • bittervoter says:

Given that people on the RNC convention floor had buttons that say “Hottest VP from the coolest State” I’d say that the Republicans themselves are the most guilty of reducing her to a sexy object. Of course, given that she has few qualifications or issues to run on, what else can they say?

    • Ignatz says:

“It’s a shame she has to be reduced to a sex object when she just might be the next VP. Stay classy, commenters.”

Heh… you’re kidding me, right? Classy, in pundit kitchen? This is a mudpit! Wear your rattiest clothes and grab a bukkit, cuz!

I admire her. At a time when other mothers, with mucho bucks, might decide to ask for some time off to be with their baby who will no doubt need surgery after surgery, and to support their teenaged daughter through the most defining moment of their lives thus far, (and ask wtf?) she decides to take on more work twiddling her thumbs. Why twiddling her thumbs? Because the repubs knew what they were doing asking her, she’s going to be easy to push around and to stiff arm at the door of meetings saying, “uh, no sarah, this is the men’s room, girl’s room is at the other end of the hall” She’s the PERFECT scapegoat, and that she hasn’t figured that out proves she’s not paying attention.

    • Lucky Bob says:

Yep. She got to where she is today by being incompetent and ignorant.

      Please.

      • Jane St.Clair says:

She got to where she is today because McCain yanked her from obscurity and shoved her into the spotlight to add legitimacy to his campaign. The really sad thing is that all most people are seeing is a somewhat attractive airhead that no one can criticize without being mean. I can just see this crazy gamble working for McCain and we’re all going to be screwed for another four years.

        • ema says:

She is getting criticized like mad from all directions, what are you talking about?

          • jellybeans says:

The MSM (which you all seem to call liberal …) is falling over themselves to play nice.

            • Jane St.Clair says:

And look where it got them, a slap in the face during her speech for daring to actually do their jobs and look into her political history. Chris Matthews was pissed off to say the least, I only hope this means the gloves are coming off now.

  16. jellybeans says:

I love how even the Republican talking heads hate her … anyone catch to open mic convo with Peggy Noonan and Chuck Todd et al.?
This is not the hail mary McCain was hoping for.
I just hope some reporters have the balls to ask her views on Birth Control (no, not in relation to the daughter but to insurance)

    • sweetroscoe says:

Actually noonan doesn’t represent talking head”S”, but only one head; hers.

When she wrote about the incident, she noted she was more bitter not about Palin per se…but that Palin received the nod of Kay Baily Hutchinson…for reasons in no small part due to Palin’s age, beauty, and her family story. Quite frankly, I agree that Hutchinson would be a wonderful addition to the ticket…if it wasn’t for politics. Like it or not, Hutchinson represents the old guard. No doubt Palin’s energizing effect on the base is due in no small part that she is seen as part of the “future” republicans, one to look forward too.

National Review stated that their staff hasn’t received so much mail in support of a candidate since that of Reagan in 76 and 80.

      • jellybeans says:

        Peggy wasn’t talkin to herself.
The guys were just as down on Palin as she was and basically they called Palin a gimmick.
These are big time republican voices, look up the bios.

        • ema says:

She doesn’t have to please them, she has to please a majority of the American voters because then they will vote for McCain.

  17. decepticon says:

Irrespective of how you think she looks, on the inside Sarah Palin is a foul and disgusting human being.

    • Catia says:

I’m assuming you must know her personally to say something like that. Otherwise, you’re just another bitter person who’s scared silly that Palin will likely be the first female Vice President of the United States. I’d bet it’s the latter. Fear tends to highlight people’s true colors.

      • decepticon says:

No-one’s scared of Palin, there’s no reason to be. She wasn’t chosen to hook undecided voters, she was chosen to placate the far right of the party, the evangelicals, the gun nuts, the Jesus-freaks and creationists who were luke-warm on the whole campaign because the last eight years has forced the GOP to nominate the most anti-Bush republican they could get away with to even stand half a chance. And it was those people who were whooping and chanting like it was the WWE at Palin’s all-froth-no-substance speech. People who would never in a million years have voted any other way than republican. Now they’re going to vote Republican with more enthusiasm. Big whoop, their one vote still counts as one vote.

        • CPO Ret. says:

…. I love it when the left keeps stereotyping those of us on the right … isn’t that a kind of profiling Obama is so much against ???? … and as far as ‘hooking/placating” votes … my friends from back home in Hawaii, say I should vote Obama for he is a minority (as I am) and from Hawaii to boot, no other reason, just that …. funny way of thinking huh ? … some of the postings here say that is why Palin is on the ticket …. so who is selling who short …

…. but you are right … their one vote counts … and that is the main thing … and you folks till don’t get it … you have been fed the “hate Bush” line since Gore lost in Florida just to get you to this point today … impeach Bush ??? … haven’t you figured that if all the hype was really true, a liberal Congress would have done so already instead of just going through the motions ???? … Duh !

            Poor Grammar;Didn’t Read

            • CPO Ret. says:

Perhaps you never read/heard of the fact that the human mind tosses out about 50% of the written word as being immaterial to the thought/gist of the writting? Perhaps you are unaware that so many people now converse in “text messaging” electronically ? Perhaps you consider a foregin national’s thought as being irrevalant as that cannot communicate written or spoken as easily in American English ? Perhaps you are unaware that so many of our high school grads. are incapable of even conversing on an 8th grade level. Perhaps “Poor Grammar;Didn’t Read” is the only thought in your head or the only keys on your keyboard ?

Lastly, when I voted this past election I was able to mark the right block, and GW did get into office again ! Imagine that ? But then too you might not have read the b

              • CPO Ret. says:

…. sorry … might not have read the ballot as it was written as “Poor Grammar;Didn’t Read” With a little luck perhaps you might repeat the perfomance again voting cycle ? Please !

          • Jane St.Clair says:

Ummmm, listen friend. I love the elipses as much as the next literary nerd, and I’m all for alternate forms of puncuation, but do you think you can take pity on those of us trying to read your posts and pull back on the question marks?

          • Ceefax says:

            … … … … … … … Sorry, no matter… How many … of these…. you…. use… She’s still… … just… Cheney…. With…. tits….

Uh… this comment wouldn’t be that funny even if McCain was for drilling in ANWR. He’s not.

  19. rebel says:

    weiner

  20. Adam says:

….but he’s not for drilling in Alaska… which has probably already been said… it could be amusing if he was…. even though Sarah Palin is the most moronic person to ever run for vice president.
