Would be nice if they were headed to the White House instead…

    • Evil Pundit says:

You liberals just love political violence. If someone disagrees with you — shout them down, kill them!

      • Seth says:

How is that any different from conservatives? Anne Coulter called us terrorists and traitors and said we should all be executed. You guys call for violence far more often than we ever do.

        • Evil Pundit says:

If you look at Pundit Kitchen, we’ve so far had one call for murder of President Bush, and one for the bombing of John McCain.

Nobody on the conservative side has done the same.

You’re just projecting your own characteristics onto your opponents.

          • Seth says:

No, YOU are projecting your own behavior on to your opponents. This was not a call for the murder of President Bush. If I say, “It would be nice if Evil Pundit died painfully in a fire,” I am not calling for your death, I am expressing an opinion. Not only that, but anyone with half a brain would understand that I am not serious and would be appalled if you did, in fact, die in a fire. And I may hate Bush, but I would be just as appalled if a mob of angry villagers wielding torches and pitchforks descended on the White House. Again, anyone with half a brain understands that n8 is joking. I can’t believe I have to explain this to you. No, I can believe it, you practice deliberate ignorance and misinterpretation as an art form.

            • Evil Pundit says:

              The jokes reveal a truth.

              • n8 says:

The only truth revealed here is that you jump to self-serving conclusions far too readily, and wind up looking foolish for your efforts.

                • Phaelin says:

Yes, because anyone looks foolish when their opinion is outnumbered, whether or not the opposing view is correct.

                  • Trainwreck Chaser says:

                    I’m quoting you.

                  • n8 says:

True enough, but I think my comments stand in this instance. Besides which, the EP/Ema tag-team is uaually on the winning side of the gang-up equation. Live by the sword, etc.

                    • Freud says:

So one PERCEIVED evil is justification for violent threats? I’ve never seen any conservative threats here- only ones from Liberals. What a tool you are!

                      • Seth says:

How is this a violent threat? “Would be nice if they were headed to the White House instead” is not a threat, it’s a JOKE, idiot. Seriously, how dumb do you have to be to think anyone is calling for a mob attack on the White House?

                        • JPEGman says:

GOD!!! BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP!!!

LIBERALS ARE JUST AS VIOLENT AS CONSERVATIVES!!!
                          FOR OPPOSITE REASONS!!!

            • Trainwreck Chaser says:

Seth, no offense man but some times you bring more venom like a viper then you bring truth. Meaning what you have to say does less to convince people you’re right and convince people that you have problems.

            • Trainwreck Chaser says:

Seth no offense but people say things like that so often then it becomes hard to tell if they are lying.

But I wanted to say thank you for clarifying, I appreciate it.

            • fargh82 says:

um, i am liberal but i don’t think anyone should be hurt, i respect other
peoples opinions and even agree with republicans on some subjects like
oil drilling, because we should research new sources of energy
but we need a supply to keep the research centres running don’t we?

            • Lynn says:

Disagreements like this start wars. It’s idiotic and stupid, and rather tedious at that… if you want to fight about something, then fight for something REAL. Fight for your soul, something that I am starting to see neither of you have. It’s people like you, whether you’re conservative, liberal, what have you, that is killing this planet, killing our kids, killing everything we’ve worked millenia to achieve. One day we’re all going to die and i will look upon everyone panicking and say. “Why did you stop fighting? This is what you’ve been working towards, hasn’t it? And I will walk into the flames and die while you all suffer and burn slowly, struggling to fix the seeds you sowed, and will now reep.

          • lowly grunt says:

You seem to forget Steve joking about the assassination of Obama a while back. LImited memory is a good thing when you need to make a point, isn’t it? Something you must have learned from McCain – experience seems to have been a necessary qualification for office until this morning.

            You aren’t being funny, btw.

      • Devil Prudence says:

We liberals just love political violence. If someone disagrees with us – shout them down, kill them!… What the?.. Hey! Wait a minute!… Did you just pull a Sith mind trick on me?.. well, at least it wasn’t Force choke… wait… agghhhhhh…….

    • Brandon_ha says:

      Canada beat em to it.

      • Guest says:

Yeah, go Canada. We torched it in retaliation of the looting of York, which was considered pretty underhanded even by the military standards of 1813. Funny how history repeats itself in that respect.

On a side note, I think it’s funny how Americans have turned their belief that they’re a military power into a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts. I mean, they’re lucky as hell to have made it through their war of independence. Then there’s WW1, which they only really showed up for the last quarter of it, and they enter reluctantly. WW2 was pretty much the same, they showed up 2 years in, reluctantly. Their biggest accomplishment was taking Japan off of the Soviet plate. They did more than Canada on the Western fronts, but what can you expect from a country that has less total population than the united states had devoted to their military. In the end though, it was the Soviets that mostly won the war, with the majority of the rest of the job going to England and the commonwealth nations. Then there were Korea, and Vietnam, and we can see how they turned out. But they’ve managed to convince themselves that they have the best military through and through. And their devotion to this myth, actually lead them to building a virtually unrivaled military. But regardless of how strong their military is, the same thing seems true about the Americans. They’re great at winning battles, but not at winning wars.

        • Guest Numba 2 says:

Why do people love to make over-arching comments like /all/ of these? I know most of the time people don’t /intend/ to generalize, but that doesn’t make it any better. The reason people end up in unproductive arguments like this is because people, intentionally or not, over-generalize.

I (American) have always been a bit jealous of Canadians– pretty much any other “free” country out there really– just because so many people out there are quick to judge. Then again, I can’t fault anyone for doing so b/c prejudice is kind of a knee-jerk reaction. Even so, try to stay open. There will always be people in the world (especially in America, har) that’ll be ready to challenge your prejudices.

  2. gnarlyswine says:

I Thought it was spain before the ‘running of the bulls’ replaced the ‘running of the zombies’.

    • lolo says:

      LOL

Brilliant..I’d never run with bulls but zombies? Absolutely

      • Jane St.Clair says:

You can not outrun zombies. You may be faster, but eventually you get tired. They don’t. You’d be better off making sure you have a secure defensible compound complete with flame throwers in the event that the zombie apocolypse happens.

        • ice_army says:

And remember to make it at least 2 stories high… zombies don’t climb…. Wear tigh fitting clothing and short hair…

        • Guest says:

Fire doesn’t kill zombies, you have to destroy the brain. Setting a zombie on fire only makes it harder to engage in hand to hand combat. What you need is a mini gun mounted on every corner of the building. Searchlights to spot them coming, and old WW1 style razor wire, no matter how hard you try you can’t get yourself out of that. Landmines would destroy their legs, and slow them to a crawl. It also needs sniper nests, as they are more efficient on ammunition, and the mini guns should only be used in the direst of situations. Canned food, and lots of ammo. Have a bunch of blades that spin around right at neck level. Zombies don’t seem like they’d be smart enough to duck under them.

  3. jellybeans says:

If we shop in Cindy McCain it would be funnier … I am sure she is as pulled and pieced as Shelley’s creation.

    • Evil Pundit says:

Would it be funnier if we shopped in Barack Obama? Then you could pretend they were having an old Democrat-KKK style lynching.

      • aquafemme says:

Would you be funnier if you pulled the stick out?

        • Trainwreck Chaser says:

As much as I enjoy EP, I think he’s a little angry during the Democratic convention.

          • ema says:

Why would that make him angry? Plenty to laugh at there!

            • Evil Pundit says:

The DNC has been pretty funny. I was disappointed that the Clintons fell into line. Could have been some quality entertainment if they hadn’t.

The Temple of Obama is looking good though.

              • ema says:

Oh they may have but their supporters maybe not, Obama has not made any attempt to garner their support at all!! Down in the polls after the Michelle speech as well… What are they doing?

                • Evil Pundit says:

That seems to have been a dip in response to the choice of Joe Biden for VP.

Obama’s poll numbers have risen again since the Clintons came on board, and will probably do so again after tonight’s speech.

But the Ayers issue may do some damage if it gets wider circulation.

        • jamisings says:

Maybe it’s time you liberals realized you’re JUST as bad if not WORSE then conservitives.

Extremism in EITHER direction is DANGEROUS. It’s time we learned to compromise, work together, and move on to more important things. Like tougher laws on rapists and pedophiles.

          • Seth says:

There are far more extremist conservatives than liberals. The conservative power base is made up of fundamentalist Christians who want a government camera in every bedroom, and fanatical corporate overlords who want to dismantle the government entirely. Liberals are actually pretty middle of the road compared to the nightmare of insanity that is the conservative base.

            • Evil Pundit says:

              Nonsense.

Liberals are much angrier than conservatives. Who riots in the streets as a form of political expression? Liberals. Who is calling for their political enemies to be murdered on Pundit Kitchen threads? Liberals.

              • Devil Prudence says:

Who takes pundit kitchen as a joke and makes jokes on the comments? Liberals!, who takes said jokes seriously in order to make a conservative point on a koke web page? Conservatives!

                • Devil Prudence says:

I meant to say “joke web page”, sorry…

                • Evil Pundit says:

The excuse that “it was just a joke” never works for conservatives.

Why should it work for liberals? Double standards again.

You leftists pretend to be tolerant and enlightened, but in reality you’re bigoted and selfish.

                  • Devil Prudence says:

Well, you’re a conservative, right? And right now, I, a liberal, am taking everything you say as a joke, so there, it also works for conservatives.

                  • n8 says:

You’re a bit petulant tonight, EP. Is the cause not going so well tonight?

                    • Evil Pundit says:

Am I? Well, I didn’t mean to be. It was just an illustration of liberal double standards.

Obama has his convention bounce, and I guess that’s not good; but there’s still a long path to the election. Maybe I’ll cheer up on the way.

                  • herb says:

When was the last time a liberal in this country gunned down a politician or opened fire at a church with the explicit goal to kill conservatives?

Yeah, some of the liberals here recite the same crap about Bush being evil yadda-yadda-yadda, but I haven’t seen this deluge of “Let’s all lynch the President” LOLs that you seem to cite, especially since anything remotely resembling sarcasm, critique, or cheap-shot of the GOP garners your knee-jerk “All liberals are hate merchants” crap.

It gets to the point where reading your posts is like masturbating with a cheese grater: not something I’d want to do and far too painful to endure if I tried.

                • Trainwreck Chaser says:

                  Hey um,
You know you hide behind the idea that everything a joke…..

You don’t know if it is a joke or not, you just assume.

      • Trainwreck Chaser says:

        EP, you angry or something?

        • Evil Pundit says:

No, I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy of liberals who pretend to be tolerant.

In this thread, we have one liberal wishing there was a lynch mob on the way to the White House, and another wishing they were going to lynch Cindy McCain.

Yet if I mirror the same sentiments with Barack Obama, suddenly it isn’t funny anymore.

          Double standards.

          • Devil Prudence says:

Do you usually make your political arguments on a “lol” web page? Are you for real? Dude, it’s a “lol” page, who the hell takes seriously whatever is said here… oh, wait… You’re just joking too, aren’t you?… ohhhh you had me going there for a while… good one.

          • Trainwreck Chaser says:

Yeah, I guess I can just read your frustration

It is true, while conservatives are not the bastion of tolerance, it seems many (not all jane) seem to think they are crusaders for tolerance and then turn around do something completely intolerant.

          • fjaradvax says:

So everyone’s preaching tolerance – we’re all agreed! Tolerance Rocks! All we need to do now is thrash out a few details, like whether it’s more important to be tolerant of each other as human beings regardless of race, sex and orientation or tolerant of a political-economic status quo that largely depends on rampant despoiling of the world’s natural resources and exploitation of the work force by a few aggressively expansionist economies…

            • jellybeans says:

I think they want us to be tolerant of their intolerance. Edie and Ema are the only 2 conservative mouthpieces that expressed any and I mean ANY dismay over the “get a job, f*n N*” sobriquet a few pages back. (Thanks again to RedWhiteandBoom for educating us all on the latest racist meme!”) … and the name could be off a bit, look for the guy with the shaved head and swastika tattoos…

              • Trainwreck Chaser says:

Actually that one was about a year old.

I didn’t see you getting angry over the name Nickdigger

Sorry that I didn’t say anything, but I just ignored it instead.

                • jellybeans says:

I remember that name, I didn’t say anything because no one else was and I thought maybe I was being overly sensitive, like no one else thought it was a bad name so maybe I was imagining it. Thankfully I haven’t seen it around lately.

                • Jane St.Clair says:

We were ignoring Nickdigger because the only thing he was doing was posting “McCain is old, LOL” on every single picture and it was getting extremely freaking annoying and responding to him was only going to justify his trollish tendencies.

          • jellybeans says:

I never said anything about lynching her … I was speaking as a MOVIE scene … You know I don’t often see a bunch of torch wielding people outside of the movies … Maybe your experiences differ?
The “Shelley” thing should have been a hint … You know Mary Shelley … she wrote Frankenstein the book which later became possibly the most famous movie(s) to have scenes of torch wielding people?
I guess I can understand the confusion since American schools are pretty much the laughing stock of the world.

            • herb says:

“I guess I can understand the confusion since American schools are pretty much the laughing stock of the world.”

              Ouch.

I mean, it’s true (though bleeding heart libtards like myself are trying to change that), but still,… ouch.

      • Devil Prudence says:

Yeah, you would like that, wouldn’t you?
Have you been having wet dreams about that recently?

      • The Dude says:

EP, they would never do that. Barack is only HALF black… and rich racists democrats have decided to let that slide.

    • Jim says:

Cindy McCain may be made out of wax but she’s still babe-a-liciously babistic!!

  4. Tinripp says:

yes or hay forks and clubs with big nails in them :)

  5. lowly grunt says:

He – vas – my BOYFRIEND!!! *lightning and thunder*

  6. GomerPhyls says:

They’re going to John Kerry’s house?

    • sigh says:

knowledge of literature fail. frankenstein = dr. victor frankenstein, the man who created the monster. the creation has no name and is referred to simply as “the monster.”

but yes, john kerry does have a resemblance to frankenstein’s monster.

      • n8 says:

That’s why he’s better known as “Lurch.” There are no cumbersome explanations to be made regarding the Adams Family’s butler.

        • jellybeans says:

          *snicker*
He and Jay Leno could be the Monster Twins!

        • empath says:

          ‘Lurch’? Who?

Ohhhh; you mean the Addams Family! ;P

But seriously, how ethnocentric are you when you think a wonderfully creepy dark comedy (horror-comedy?) U.S. TV show from about _forty_ years ago is more pervasive throughout the world than a book that’s been around for _two_hundred_, was arguably the FIRST ’science-fiction’ novel and one that possessed a profound subtext warning against the over-reaching of (then) modern man and the Industrial Revolution (see book’s subtitle “The Modern Prometheus” and look up that figure from Greek mythology)?

Now don’t get me wrong; I *LOVE* that off-kilter show, but if I’m speaking on a public forum that reaches well beyond my own little culture, I’ll take the reference that is going to be more easily recognized, even if it IS mis-recognized. (So it’s misnamed, so what? “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”)

BUUUUT, all this is tangential and beside the point of why I decided to poke my nose in here:

“Whatโ€™s happening in this picture? Where did this take place? Tell us in the Comments”

Yes, please. ‘Enquiring minds want to know.’ :) Is it a religious ‘day of the dead’-esque procession? (tho I thought that was sometime in the autumn) Are there semi-violent protests going in in Indonesia or similar? Did some fool Olympic judge get *caught* taking bribes again? Did NBC announce they’re dropping ‘Heroes’?

          • n8 says:

*blinks twice at wall o’ text*
I merely commented that “Lurch” is less involved than “Frankenstein”, since the “doctor vs. monster” discussion always arises. I made no comment as to pervasiveness.

      • Phaelin says:

Ugh, who DOESN’T call him just flat out Frankenstein? Calm down.

    • ema says:

      OMG! WIN!!

    • Trainwreck Chaser says:

      Popular culture reference win.

      Way to go.

  7. Ryan says:

Bad as we may be, at least we liberals know there is a difference between “then” and “than”.

    • Spazzmin says:

      hear hear!

      • Confoozled says:

Never forget, though, the most important distinction of all–”them” and “us.” Even more useful than “liberal” and “conservative.”

    • Jane St.Clair says:

Oh get over yourself. Typos happen to everyone, they know no political bias. Getting snarky about grammer mistakes on the internet is the last resort of someone with no other argument to bring to the discussion. And yes, I am a liberal.

  8. durr says:

aaaaw i love when comments ruin the funny.
can everyone take the burning sticks out of their asses and stop with the boring round about obama/mccain interjections into ever single effing post?

can we at least, now and then, appreciate the fact that news is not 100% pointless political arguments and at least have some FUNNY comments ala john kerry is frankenstein’s monster.

  9. ubr says:

    mccain or obama?

i want four more years of bush!!!!

yes to bush! no to pricks!

  10. Guess Again says:

everyone has been b*tching…but no one has actually said what this is a photo of…or rather, where? anyone?

I’d guess maybe these people are on their way to Beijing’s E.P.A. office…just a thought though.

    • Confoozled says:

Maybe this is the Olympic torch relay, with decoy torches, to prevent protesters from quenching the real one?
      .
(and thanks for getting back to the point…if there is one.)

    • ema says:

I know I wish I could read that sign in the upper left, first line starts with PHO, second looks like starts with CAM, there are signs in front with pictures of someone on them, could it possibly be Pakistan?? They are having some violence now…

  11. ClickoryStickz says:

    Imhotep, Imhotep, Imhotep

  12. Storm says:

    /facepalm
