The picture is of a Greenpeace activist, who has been arrested for protesting at the TATA headquarters at Bombay, peacefully and in a non-violent way. The TATA group is constructing South Asia’s largest deepwater port in the periphery of the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary and Bhitarkanika National Park. The port, if it comes up poses a severe threat to the fragile environment and thousands of traditional fisher livelihoods. Of course, it would be the final nail in the coffin to Olive Ridley Turtle, protected on par with the tiger in India on paper, as Gahirmatha is one of the last mass-breeding and nesting sites for this endangered species.
