He’s the PM, which used to be a less powerful office than the Presidency, however as president he transferred a massive amount of the President’s powers to the PM’s job. For example, the Russian version of the Secretary of Defense answers directly to the PM for the first time in history, not to the President. So, basically, Putin is a tyrant who has kept himself in power by manipulating the Russian’s constitution. He did many good things for the Russian people while in office, so they think he is the man, which is why he is getting away with it. That and effing awesome propaganda campaigns.
I know!!! I despise this man, but I have this insane, emotionally driven, warm fuzzy feeling for him and Russia every time I look into his PR. Then I have to go back to the valid research, and remember that he isn’t /just/ a guy that loves Judo, hunting, guns, and babies. He’s really a wolf in sheep’s clothing…a really cool lookin’ sheep’s clothing.

You know, I used to enjoy calling W an idiot too, but then I decided that it’s not right to do so. A reasonably intelligent person smashes your second favorite vase (Which is now your favorite since your previous favorite got smashed. You really need to watch who you invite over to your house.)
