I’m reminded continually that I spent the ’90s bitching that Clinton was just a republican in liberal clothes. Of course, in retrospect, eight years of peace and prosperity looks pretty damned good.
Was he?
What did he do that was “good”?
Lets see. No environmental disasters. Budget surplus. Strong dollar. 68% voter approval. No Russian invasion of Georgia. 4% unemployment. No housing market disaster. No bird flu. Twin towers still standing. Milk $2.00. Gas $1.64. Spinach not poisonous.
*sigh* I don’t suppose there’s any chance Obama will ask Bill to be his running mate.
No there isn’t any chance since Bill is not eligible to be VP. It’s all there in your constitution.
And I’m not sure how you think Bill is responsible for no bird flu, no environmental disasters, or the edible spinach. Certainly George wasn’t responsible for these things actually happening either.
And Bill’s effect on several of the other things you mentioned is negligible.
As a president, Bill was better than George is now, but don’t unduly credit him for things he did or did not do.
Say what you will, but to me Clinton will aways be the milkman.
Everyone who doesn’t sit back to think about it does, though. That’s just how it is. And it has worked to his advantage so many times.
