Judging by the smile on his face, he’s reliving his Swiftboat days..

    • hobo sapiens says:

Huh? Kerry was in the military? Are you sure?

      • PortlandMark says:

I think it’s appalling that conservatives feel free to bash war heroes whenever those heroes decline to drink the republican koolaid.

        • eddiepscetti says:

Know what? I could give a damn whether he’s Democrat, Republican, or a flaming wankstain. The fact is, he basically turned his back on those in the military that backed him up to make a name for himself. I’ll bet all of people he served with wouldn’t give him the time of day if they were paid for it. The man is NOT a hero, and receiving a medal doesn’t make you one either.

          • K says:

Yeesh, the guy’s at least been under fire, and, IIRC, still has a piece of shapnel in his leg. That’s more than just about anybody else in the the current administration can claim. Sure, not every combat vet is a hero, but he at least deserves some basic respect for having the balls to go over there and get shot at, when he could’ve easily ducked out of it, as so many others did.

            • eddiepscetti says:

Ok, I’ll give him kudo’s for spending all of four months in ‘Nam and getting wounded. /sarcasm/

              • K says:

I’ve never been shot at, and I kind of like that. That’s why I tend to try not to belittle the service of combat veterans. Have your read Kerry’s testimony before Congress in 1971? It took balls to stand up and speak against the war. Sure, he managed to milk it for all it was worth, and I’m sure that there were plenty of others who similarly stood up who are not now US Senators married to heiresses. But that doesn’t change the fact that he stood up and did something significant, when he could’ve easily ducked any of it.

                • EMT says:

“he could’ve easily ducked any of it.” You mean like submitting HIMSELF for the three Purple Hearts necessary to go home? Or is it shooting unarmed men in the back that makes him noble?

                  • JRolla says:

You people continue to quote the wildly discredited negative campaign ads of four years ago. I can’t believe that anyone would still be stupid enough to believe that anything contained in those ads was fact.

Republicans are so quick to give out the term “hero”. John McCain is a “hero” because he finished nearly last in his classes, crashed 3 planes before ultimately being captured, then used that poor record to better his political career? Supposedly all of the troops fighting wars currently are “heroes”, despite many reports of massacres and torture? And yet despite these claims, you would really come out and say that someone who fought in Vietnam, was wounded in action, and from that experience spoke to the fact that the Vietnam war was wrong, is somehow not a “hero”?

That’s pretty unbelievable. Please educate yourselves.
