Actually, what he said was that he’d be wiling to entertain the idea of drilling if it would help him pass the alternative energy legislation he wants. It’s called “compromise”, and all successful adults learn they must use it from time to time.
I guess the current US congress is not made up of successful adults…

Define “right.” Did the surge (along with the unrelated Anbar Awakening) decrease the level of violence in the region? Yes. Did the surge accomplish its stated goal of allowing for breathing room for a political compromise between the various factions to occur? No.

Even though its about oil, McCain is one of the few republicans against drilling in Alaska. Thats why conservatives hate him.

The McCain campaign also counts on about 500 bundlers to do its heavy lifting among donors, including Harry Sargeant, the owner of an oil-trading company that has won potentially lucrative contracts from the Pentagon.
The Washington Post said Sargeant had amassed checks from small donors who, in some cases, were not even registered voters. They included a car mechanic, the manager of a pharmacy and the owners of a hookah lounge.
Both Sargeant and the donors were vague when asked to explain how he persuaded them to give away the money, the report said.
“I have a lot of Arab business partners. I do a lot of business in the Middle East. I’ve got a lot of friends,” Sargeant told the newspaper.
Sounds like the Obama campaign to me. Obama has lots of oil money, courtesy of “private” donors who just happen to work for oil companies.

“The first name of McCain donor Faisal Abdullah was misspelled in some versions of this story, including in the print edition of The Washington Post. Also, the article incorrectly identified a Rite Aide manager and two Twilight Hookah Lounge owners as being among the donors Sargeant solicited on behalf of McCain. Those donors – Rite Aid manager Ibrahim Marabeh, and the lounge owners, Nadia and Shawn Abdalla – wrote checks to Giuliani and Clinton, not McCain.”
