    Obama: The President of awesome

    • lolbammy says:

      Legend in his own mind.

      • Seth says:

That comeback only works when used to refer to people NOT idolized by millions, as it implies that Obama thinks more highly of himself than the general population. I don’t think it’s even possible for Obama to think more of himself than his fans do. And no, top be honest, I’m not one of those fans. I’ll be voting for him because he is by far the lesser of two evils.

        • Alfred E Newman 1.9.09 says:

          Cthulhu is the lesser evil.

        • TheLarrikin says:

There’s a reason ‘fan’ is short for ‘fanatic’…

          • Seth says:

Sure thing. Fanatics of any stripe are lol-worthy, but anyone who inspires that kind of fanatical devotion can hardly be said to be a legend in his own mind. Confusing fanatical idiocy with personal delusions of grandeur isn’t funny, especially when a comment like ‘President of awesome’ invites a serious ribbing of the fans themselves, not the leader. I mean, come on, try something like:
“In Soviet Awesome, Obama idolizes you” or
“Awesome: the country where ‘hope’ and ‘change’ are valid policy positions”
or even “Obama: he’s anything you want him to be.” That’s what pisses me off about the typical mouthpiece, he’s got no imagination.

        • Evil Pundit says:

Obama is a legend in his own mind.

When he gained enough delegates for nomination, he said “This was the moment when the rising of the seas began to slow, and the earth began to heal.”

That’s egotism to the point of derangement.

          • Free2B says:

…I have to agree with that, too.

          • hergieburbur says:

I think he was commenting on the fact that Dems are considered to be more environmentally friendly than Reps (Al Gore not withstanding), rather than his super powers. Then again… maybe not. The man does have an ego problem.

            • Evil Pundit says:

The ego is part of what worries me about Obama. I would rather have a Clinton or even an Edwards.

              • hergieburbur says:

Never an Edwards. He’s a sleaze (the bad kind, not the politician kind) I liked Clinton though and would vote for him again. Most polls imply that he would get elected again if he were eligible.

        • Aletheia says:

I’d probably vote for the candidate NOT endorsed by the worst president in history…

          • Evil Pundit says:

So who is Jimmy Carter NOT endorsing?

            • Seth says:

Jimmy Carter is ten times the president Bush could ever be. Jimmy got screwed by Reagan. Funny how the hostages were released six minutes after Reagan was sworn into office, and then Reagan sold the Iranians weapons even though they were anti-US.

              • Evil Pundit says:

Jimmy Carter was the worst president of the century.

Among other things, he was responsible for installing Robert Mugabe into power. That alone is a horrible legacy.

              • hueydoc says:

Reagan scared the crap out of the Iranians- that’s why they released them. And then he sold useless weapons to Iran and used the money to support anti-communist rebels in Nicaragua! Pretty darn smart, actually!

            • hergieburbur says:

Carter was actually a pretty average president. He gets a bad rap for the Hostage situation, but that was beyond his control (I won’t get into it now, but much of that situation was manipulated behind the scenes). However, he also established the Depts. or Energy and Education, and was heavily involved with foreign policy (some good, some not so good). He will also likely be one of the few, if not the only, president to do more for his country after he got out of office. If you want bad, look at Nixon or Harding. Nixon opening relations with China is one of the most overrated events in history and set the stage for the massive trade deficit we are currently under (yes, I know its more complicated than that).

          • patricia says:

To aletheia, guess you havent been around long enough if you think gwb is the worst.

        • Lilith says:

seth – the name of the devil so apparently you’re not the lesser of any evil *muhahahahaha*

      • hergieburbur says:

Wow, do you just troll this place trying to inject party politics into everything? Can’t you just let it go once in awhile?

    • ema says:

Yes, that awsome country far away from the US.

  4. Kaitlin says:

    Lol That’s actually kinda cute.

  5. A Noni Moose says:

well, I work with the “developmentally disabled” and I’ve been taught it’s not nice to laugh at them. But in cases like this, I just can’t help myself. I get to see priceless moments like these all the time, people learning new skills and being so proud….it brings a tear almost….and then I remember he’s my “president” and then I get sad…

    • hergieburbur says:

      HAHA! WIN!

    • Het Irv says:

Thank you for that…. it just made my day.

    • Alfred E Newman 1.9.09 says:

      I love you.

    • Evil Pundit says:

I’m sure it’s an advantage in your work that you are a retard yourself.

      • Jane says:

Well that comment really served a purpose.

        • Evil Pundit says:

Anyone who thinks that Bush is stupid merely reveals their own idiocy.

          • Free2B says:

While George’s estimated IQ places him in the top 3% of the general population, and I have a respect for the man…I had to laugh.

            • JanetCanHas4Kittehs says:

What on earth have you people been reading? His IQ is below 100.

              • hergieburbur says:

Actually, most estimates have it around 125. And this coming from someone who hates the man, and thinks he is the worst president at least since Nixon.

              • Evil Pundit says:

You shouldn’t believe all the propaganda you’re fed.

              • Free2B says:

Interesting. The story goes like this: The esteamed Lovenstien Institute in Pennsylvania put together a think tank of world-renowned authorities in IQ to estimate the IQ of every president of the last 50 years. According to the think tank, not only is George Jr.’s IQ 91, but Democratic presidents of the last 50 years average 156 while republican presidents average around 115. This “study” was circulated via e-mail, and quoted by the ever reliable Garry Trudeau in his popular “Doonsebury” comic strip.

Too bad for Mr. Trudeau, the Lovenstien Institute does not exist, nor does the research system they reportedly use, or the researchers sited. It is a hoax that cost a good bit of pride.

Gary Trudeau has appologised publicly, as will I. In further investigation of the subject I have discovered that Bush is, in fact, only in the top 10 percentile. However, this is due mostly to his score in Openness (a ctiteria for estimating one’s ability to apreciate art, new ideas, emotion…). What have I been reading?
                http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1467-9221.2006.00524.x
Have you been reading at all?
“A man who reads nothing at all is better educated than a man who reads nothing but newspapers.” -Thomas Jefferson-

            • hergieburbur says:

So, if you are in the top 2%, can you still call him stupid?

          • Jane says:

Yeah it sucks how we live in a country where people are allowed to have their own opinions and stuff.

  6. LifeLover says:

Are they not comparing their bracelets?

    • PortlandMark says:

You’re right LifeLover. Doesn’t mean the lol isn’t funny though…

      • lolbammy says:

Kinda funny how “A Noni Moose” thinks a fist bump is really what’s happening…

        • A Noni Moose says:

I’m only going along with what we are supposed to think is happening in this pic, that is the point isn’t it? or are we going to get all literal again and you are going to explain to me exactly the origin of this pose and what “exactly” was happening at this moment….I thought the point of this was to catch funny moments and make of them what we will. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!!
          He really is DD though.

          • TheLarrikin says:

He is intelligent but socially awkward. Many people are.

            • Ayla says:

              It’s called Asperger Syndrome.

            • hergieburbur says:

Doesn’t he have the lowest IQ of any president that’s been checked? You can convince me of a lot of things, but you will never convince me that man is intelligent. He is smart enough to listen to his handlers, and no more.

              • JanetCanHas4Kittehs says:

Hai guise. I accidentally clicked into here. I’m from LOLcats – or whatever we ar called. I never worried about it before because when I started that was all there was.

I’ve been reading your comments, and you seem to be a bit nicer than I heard. Which was that you were not very polite to one another.

But – I know I’m going to get jumped on here, but – is there really anyone here who thinks that Bush is really intelligent??

If you ask me, which you did not, I would say that he is unbelievably evil, and the damage he has done to our country through his stupidity and ignorance will be difficult to fix – for many years. He has plunged us into 3rd world status – and thanks to him, we are very unpopular throughout the civilized world.

And I would say more, but ai must get bak to mai frenz at ICHC .

                Interesting seeing you! ;)

                JCH4K

                • Evil Pundit says:

“He has plunged us into 3rd world status”

What — you mean you have no electricity, running water or food?

The fact that you can say something as silly as this demonstrates that you are the fool — not George Bush.

                  • JanetCanHas4Kittehs says:

Oh Evil Pundit! You really are a bit provincial, I think. Have you ever eve BEEN to a third world country? I’ve been to many. Often. Most have electricity, running water AND food.

And apparently you do not know what MOST developed countries have that we here in the United States do not. I do, for I have lived in Germany, Austria and Itly for many years – and traveled extensively thoughout Europe. And of course the 3rd world countries.

I have many friends thoughout the world – and know what they think, because they tell me.

You seem to think I am some crazy cat lady living – oh – I don’t know where! But I have in fact many friends in various social circles, ranging from genuine princesses and princes to people who have gone bankrupt in our failing economy.

And I have had a remarkably successful career as a theater director. And I could go on to enumerate the numerous awards I have earned, and the amazing adventurous life I have lived – but it would seem a bit like bragging.

                    • Evil Pundit says:

                      What’s your point?

You claimed that the US has bevome a third world country in eight years. That’s just nonsense.

All the bragging in the world won’t make your stupid claim any less stupid.

                    • Free2B says:

I call bullsh!t. You are either a 10 year old girl, or a bull baiter. Due to the truely unbelievable, ostentatious nature of your comments, I lean to the latter possibility. But, it doesn’t really matter. The maturity level of either one is the same. It looks like you got me, but all I really want to say is, “Don’t encourage her!” Really, people like this need to be ignored, and eventually this site will be free again for valid conversation.

                    • phantom says:

sorry, im in paraguay. not third world as defined by the un, but still kind of harsh with hospital and water treatment…..as much as i’m not a fan of bush i must point out he didnt lower our standard of living. unless you have lost your home and have no more public services, in which case im sorry for you and wish you all of luck. we may have lost standing in the political arena, however we are not hated or even close…only by radical religious groups. please dont overreact it hamstrings rational conversations which have been surprisingly present here.

                • TheLarrikin says:

I enjoy your comments on the other site, on the occasion that I read the comments, but the thought that we are now a third-world country is absurd. I’m sorry.

                  • JanetCanHas4Kittehs says:

O hai, TheLarrikin! You do come and read ICHC occasionally? How nice. Very nice people there.

But – if only it were absurd – that we are truly headed to third-world status.
I hope it can be reversed. I truly do. But we are SO far behind most European countries in so many things that make life pleasant.

Most Americans travel so little they simply don’t know how other people live. Maybe you, TheLarrikin, are quite well off and do not see the poor people here.

When my sister and I go to the opera in Chicago, we always stuff our pockets with smallish bills to hand out to all the beggers on the streets. Some of them are probably faking, but many surely are not.

So much to say on this topic – but I haven’t really the time right now. I just got back from Germany a day ago where I had to attend the funeral of one of my very best friends who died unexpectedly.

                • steve says:

Umm, I think Janet the crazy cat lady (housedress and bra size 44 Long, hereafter referred to as “It”) should stick to LOLCats. Third world status? Ass. Unpopular throughout the civilized world? I guess It means that the US is not civilized. But It would probably think that having four cats is civilized. It probably assumes that Americans give a rat’s ass what the rest of the world thinks. Shall we go through history and list the positive things that never would have happened if people had gone along with what the rest of the world thinks?

                  • JanetCanHas4Kittehs says:

Ummm – sorry steve! I happen to be very beautiful and amazingly popular every where I go! And I generally travel in – shall we say – more elevated social circles. Most of my friends – and many of my relatives, are quite famous and considered tops in their fields.

And yes. I do find the US somewhat less civilized than many countries.

And I consider it a tragedy that many Americans, apparently much like yourself, are so ignorant and uncultured and uneducated that they actually DO think that it doesn’t matter what others think of us.

And why, steve, do you feel the need for the personal attack? I think that was really quite uncalled for. And in any event – whoever this mythical woman is whom you apparently find so unattractive, why must you attack her? What did she ever do to you that you should be so disrespectful as to feel the need to refer to her as “it.” I’m afraid this shows a bit of a character flaw in you. I would never base a judgement on physical appearance. Many of the nicest people I have known have been a bit odd looking. I think, steve, perhaps you need to get out more. ;)

And yes – please do go through history and tell me all the wonderful and positive things that never would have happened. I would find that very interesting.

              • Evil Pundit says:

I think you need to do some more research, hergie.

George Bush has an MBA from Harvard, and is an experienced jet pilot. ot things that can be achieved by a moron.

Also, Bush’s SAT score was higher then John Kerry’s.

                • hergieburbur says:

I was honestly asking the question, because I am not sure if its true. SATs are easy (and I never implied Kerry was smart) and aren’t really a test of intelligence. As for what it takes to achieve things, there are more ways to succeed than just intelligence. He was by his own admission an average student. I am not denying his achievements, merely stating that you will never convince me that he is an intelligent man.

                  • Evil Pundit says:

But if you say “you will never convince me that he is an intelligent man”, then you can’t claim that you’re “not sure”.

All I suggest is that you look beyond the carefully compiled collections of every blooper ever made by a man who can’t step outside his home without being the focus of two dozen cameras.

Look at how Bush talks when he’s unscripted. Look at his accomplishments. Look at a photo of the cockpit instrumentation of the fighter jet that he flew, and ask yourself if a deficient man could make that work.

How intelligent must one be, to be counted as ‘intelligent’?

                    • hergieburbur says:

See, to me, Bush is at his worst when he is unscripted. He usually seams lost to me in that situation. I didn’t say he was deficient, merely laughed at the joke, which was funny, largely because of the outtakes you mentioned. As for your last question, thats a good one, all I can say is its all relative. :)

                • hergieburbur says:

BTW, I bested Bush’s SAT score by over 300 points, does that automatically make me a genius, or just say that I know how to take tests?

                  • Evil Pundit says:

You could be either, or both, or even neither.

The point is that Bush’s SAT score would be impossible for a retarded person. Like it or not, he’s above average.

                    • hergieburbur says:

Exactly. As for his IQ, while it is estimated to be above average, that doesn’t stop him from coming across as dumb. I will admit that I am biased becuase I disagree with a lot (probably most) of what he has done, but he just doesn’t impress me personally.

                      • Evil Pundit says:

It’s true that Bush makes many verbal stumbles. They’re hilarious, in fact.

But laughing at his flubs is different from believing that he is actually some kind of moron. That’s a mistake, and underestimating one’s opponents is a good way to fail.

I don’t claim that he’s some kind of genius, but the caricature of Bush by his political enemies shouldn’t be mistaken for reality.

                      • hergieburbur says:

I agree. The same is true for any politician, even Dan Quayle.

                        • herb says:

So true, man. Thinking “Bush = Moron” is as lazy as “McCain = Crazy Old Man” is as lazy as “Obama = Muslim Terrorist”. People like these simplistic views because they’re too lazy to be burdened with the careful balancing of facts; they’d rather have a simple caricature to oppose.

                          Even Dan Quayle.

                    • Jane says:

50% of people will be “above average”, that doesn’t make you smart.

              • Aletheia says:

Uh, snopes.com ftw. Why do you believe random emails you get from nonexistent people who you wouldn’t know if they did exist, anyway?

                • hergieburbur says:

So after all this todo, I did some research and his IQ was estimated to be the second lowest of any president since 1900 (at about 125) in a real study by the journal “Political Psychology”, with only Warren G Harding scoring lower. So what I said was almost correct, excepting that they only went back to the Presidency of Teddy Roosevelt. FTR, I was NOT referring to the totally bogus email rumors. but thanks for asking.

                  • Jane says:

An IQ of 70 indicates Mental Retardation, 100 is average, 130 is gifted, and 150 (or 160, I’m not sure) is genius. So at best he’s slightly smarter than average (which explains a C average in school). Now the question you have to ask yourself is slightly smarter than average good enough for the leader of the most powerful country in the world?

                    • Evil Pundit says:

Since Bush has done well, I would say the answer is ‘yes’.

It isn’t the IQ that’s critical for a President. He can hire geniuses to do the thinking. It’s character and judgement.

Obama doesn’t have character or judgement — all he has is ego and arrogance.

                      • hergieburbur says:

There I have to disagree. Politics aside (I personally do not think he has done well at all), I think he has shown a decided lack of judgment and character at various times throughout his presidency. Not saying that Clinton had much character (frankly, I am not sure it is required of the job, since few people I know of with true character would want to deal with politicos all day), just that I wouldn’t say the Bush was characterized by it. Someone with character would not lie to the American people to start a war, or spy on his own citizens to “protect us” from something that is by definition impossible to defend against. BUT, that is all a matter of opinion, and as they say, everyone else’s stinks. :)

                        • Evil Pundit says:

Bush didn’t lie to his own people. Bush didn’t start a war. Bush doesn’t spy on his own citizens (any more than any other president).

The biggest test of Bush’s character and judgement came in September 2001, and he passed it magnificently.

                        • hergieburbur says:

I was not really impressed then either, when he immediately jumped to the conclusion that Iraq was at fault. As for your other statements, I disagree (well, maybe not about the spying). How did Bush (his administration, which he runs anyway), not start the war? Yes, Congress authorized it (while acting on “faulty” intelligence), but only after Bush and his administration lobbied heavily for it.

                        • Evil Pundit says:

Bush didn’t “immediately jump to the conclusion that Iraq was at fault”. After some weeks of careful investigation, Bush concluded that Osama bin Laden was at fault, and demanded that Afghanistan hand him over.

The invasion of Iraq was more than a year later.

And Bush didn’t start that war either — it was a continuation of the 1991 Gulf War, which had never actually ended. A ceasefire was in place, but was continually violated by Saddam Hussein.

Right, that’s almost the same as saying the Korean war is still going today (since it technically never ended), and thus we are authorized to invade them as well. The current war in Iraq is the result of a separate authorization by Congress, and is a separate action. Even if its not, he was still the primary proponent of reopening hostilities (mostly because of money, not because of ceasefire violations). However, it is evident that we will never agree here, and as I said, each has his own opinion.

                        • Evil Pundit says:

Indeed, we won’t agree on this.

                        • hergieburbur says:

Also, while the invasion itself was over a year later, the buildup and rhetoric leading up to the invasion began in early 2002. Which is what I was referring to He also played on peoples fears about terrorism and WMDS (quite well actually), to influence public opinion in favor of the war.

                        • hergieburbur says:

Anyway, enough of this. Its been fun, it gives me something to do while waitnng for my DB procs to finish. :)

                        • Evil Pundit says:

Fears of terrorism and WMDs are quite justified. It’s a nasty combination and may well yet happen, especially if Iran finishes its nuclear bomb.

                        • hergieburbur says:

Fears of terrorism are quite justified, yes. Pretending we can do anything about it is not. Nor is using those fears to further an agenda, whatever that may be. Terrorism by nature and design defies defense. A motivated person can always find a way to terrorize others. I could think of several ways in which we are vulnerable right now without even trying. How much more could a motivated, hateful individual come up with? In a free society, security is by nature retroactive. You cannot provide true security and still have a free people. You can only prepare and hope for the best.

Glad you didn’t tell that to the guys who found the explosives in London.

          • herb says:

I’m inclined to believe W’s more emotionally underdeveloped: he’s a mama;s boy acting out a by-the-book unresolved Oedipal complex welling up from buried grief over the death of his younger sister.

I kinda feel bad for the guy, except he’s using America to stage his tantrum.

        • hergieburbur says:

Kinda funny how the whole point of a LOL is to recaption the picture to describe a funny situation…

    • Jane says:

Indeed my good sir. And that cat over there, is it not just jumping into the air in a pose that would suggest that it is riding a bicycle?

    • herb says:

      They’re not comparing bracelets.

The kid is making a tight fist; there’s no reason he’d do that if he was just holding up his wrist. For that sort of motion, the tendency is to fold the fingers over the palm of the hand with the thumb across the side. Fingers curled tight with the thumb along the bottom of the hand is a tight fist: they’re are photographed mid terrorist fist-jab.

“WOAH! your watch is broken too”

  8. Avis says:

He just can’t understand how one bracelet can be in two places at the same time.

  9. gabe says:

I created this one awhile ago, but it was better… you should have made it say- I learned this terrorist fist jab from obama’s wife! that combines the stupidity of fox news with the retarded new yorker cover.

    • TheLarrikin says:

It was better, and yet it was not voted better? …… Hmm… it seems we have a conundru— oh, wait. Maybe it *wasn’t* better. Yeah. That seems to solve it.

  10. Ama says:

Hahaha, he’s tryin’ to buss a rock wit a playa, can’t you all see?!

  11. Nachodaddy says:

Seth, YOU ARE AN IDIOT! Lesser of the two evils my ass. The guy cant even acknowledge troops in the middle east. He passed up the opportunity to visit wounded soldiers so he could work out instead. What an ass!

    • Antonio says:

You know, I have a shirt that says “Why vote for a LESSER evil?” with megatron standing in front of a podium.

Troops shouldn’t even BE in the middle east anyway!

      WONDERTWINS UNITE!

    • herb says:

OBAMA VISITED TROOPS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, as that leg was a Senate-sponsored trip. HE DIDN’T WANT THAT MUCH PUBLICITY ABOUT IT.

He didn’t visit German sites because HE DIDN’T WANT TO MAKE SUCH A VISIT “POLITICAL”.

      • Evil Pundit says:

Obama was scheduled to visit the troops in the German hospital.

Then he found out he wouldn’t be allowed to turn it into a media exent. So he cancelled the troop visit and went to the gym instead. With a reporter.

You can spin it as much as you like, but Obama is all ego and no substance.

        • Kurt says:

Umm, dipshit, he never planned on taking the cameras in to see the injured troops. Besides, a McGeezer insider stated that they had already prepared criticism for Obama in the event that he DID visit the troops.

  12. durr says:

“rock, paper scissors! we both got rock son–’fraid i’m gonna have to kill ya now. cheney!”
