FIRST!!!!!!one
*ahem* Anyway, Dad’s Army the US Series.
first?
Yes George. That’s what happens when you send all the others abroad to get blown up.
Um….. you know it’s pretend, right? The picture can’t hear you …
Yeah, that’s what they ALL say.
I feel sorry for those veterans…maybe it’s the goofy shirts. Oh well, they fought for the freedom to wear them, I guess.
Its their choice, and if they hadnt won it wouldnt be
I think those are some of the fellows that live in Hawaii and are Pearl Harbor survivors. They’re just funky Hawaiian shirts. Personally, I don’t think Bush deserves to be around men like them. Bush has no concept of personal sacrifice or of serving in the Armed Forces. Those old fellows probably have more dignity, honor and sense of duty in their little fingers than Bush and Cheney have together in their whole bodies!
Heh. Yeah, he ain’t bravely posting on th’ interwebs like you!
Missing the point of his comment there a little bit.
I did 9 years in the US Army thank you very much. How about you??
Proud of beeing a tool eh? :S
The veterans in the picture don’t seem to agree with your stupid opinion. They’re happy enough to be with a President who has served in the military himself — unlike snobby Obama, who won’t even visit veterans in hospital.
You mean the way Bush served in the reserves by missing most of his assigned duties and getting drunk through many of the others? Avoiding actual service by being a rich frat boy?
And the “Obama won’t visit wounded soldiers” is a flat out lie. He visited the hospitals during the first leg of that visit while he was on the tax payer dollar. When he was on the campaign funded portion he did not visit because he thought people would politicize the wounded soldiers and he didn’t want them or their families subjected to that. He did make phone calls to them during that leg of the trip though.
Maybe if you read anything other than Audacity Watch you would have seen that.
No, I mean how Bush did his duty. All that AWOL crap is a flat out lie — a lie that cost Dan Rather his job.
Obama had already arranged to visit the wounded vets in hospital. When the military said he couldn’t bring his media circus along, he cancelled. Obama doesn’t like soldiers.
Thanks for mentioning Audacity Watch. I’ve linked it under my name.
I think you are mistaken about pretty much everything in your comment. Bush did not serve honorably. Obama was traveling with 1 campaign employee who would for the sake of the visit have been considered press … not really a circus.
You guys can’t find real dirt so you take the little scraps you can make up.
PS: $520 shoes to visit the Dhali Lama? … sounds like a “Celeb” action to me Mr. McCain. Way to be out of touch with the average American…
Obama’s wife earns $300,000 and says she can’t afford fresh fruit for her children.
Who’s out of touch?
Thats just showing how inaceptable expansive fruits became that days! xD
P.S.
““Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle, complained the government’s $600 economic stimulus check was only enough to buy ‘a pair of earrings’.”
$800 for a pair of earrings, when she can’t afford fresh fruit for her children?
And then we have Barack’s plan to save America by inflating your tyres.
These people don’t evenm love on the same planet as us.
According to military records obtained by The Washington Post, Bush first requested and received permission in May 1972 to be transferred to the Alabama National Guard so he could work on a U.S. Senate campaign. After he was in Alabama, he received notice from the Guard personnel center that he was “ineligible” for the Air Reserve Squadron he requested.
***
In August 1972, Bush was suspended from flying because he failed to complete an annual medical exam. A month later, Bush requested to be assigned to a different unit in Alabama and was approved. Although he was required to attend periodic drills in Alabama, there is no official record in his file that he did.
***
According to the records, Bush had been instructed to report to William Turnipseed, an officer in the Montgomery unit. “Had he reported in, I would have had some recall and I do not,” Turnipseed, a retired brigadier general, told the Globe in 2000. “I had been in Texas, done my flight training there. If we had a first lieutenant from Texas, I would have remembered.”
***
White House communications director Dan Bartlett said yesterday that although no official record has been found, “obviously, you don’t get an honorable discharge unless you receive the required points for annual service.” He said Bush “specifically remembers” performing some of his duties in Alabama. Bartlett also provided a news clipping from 2000 quoting friends of Bush’s from the Alabama Senate campaign saying they recalled Bush leaving for Guard duty on occasion.
***
Bush said in 2000 that he did “show up for drills. I made most monthly meetings, and when I missed them I made them up.”
***
Reached in Montgomery yesterday, Turnipseed stood by his contention that Bush never reported to him. But Turnipseed added that he could not recall if he, himself, was on the base much at that time.
***
Bush returned to Houston after the election, and again his service is vague in the records. His officers at Ellington Air Force Base wrote in May 1973 that Bush could not be given his annual evaluation, because he “has not been observed” in Houston between April 1972 and the following May. Ultimately, another officer states in a subsequent document that a report for that one-year period was unavailable for “administrative reasons.”

Sounds like a cover-up on the Republican side.

Sounds like another hatchet job from the liberal media.
Too bad nobody believes them anymore.
But you read Ann Coulter? Wow, you have skewed standards of journalistic integrity.
But I don’t read Ann Coulter.
Like a typical liberal, you just made that up.
No wonder you guys have no credibility.
You have talked about her before. FLIP FLOP
Doesn’t mean I read her. I’ve talked about Obama too, but I haven’t read his book.
By all accounts Bush was an excellent pilot, but apparently his enthusiasm cooled. In 1972, four years into his six-year guard commitment, he was asked to work for the campaign of Bush family friend Winton Blount, who was running for the U.S. Senate in Alabama. In May Bush requested a transfer to an Alabama Air National Guard unit with no planes and minimal duties. Bush’s immediate superiors approved the transfer, but higher-ups said no. The matter was delayed for months. In August Bush missed his annual flight physical and was grounded. (Some have speculated that he was worried about failing a drug test–the Pentagon had instituted random screening in April.) In September he was ordered to report to a different unit of the Alabama guard, the 187th Tactical Reconnaissance Group in Montgomery. Bush says he did so, but his nominal superiors say they never saw the guy, there’s no documentation he ever showed up, and not one of the six or seven hundred soldiers then in the unit has stepped forward to corroborate Bush’s story.
*** Yup, I left in the praise for his piloting skills even though he passed the test with the LOWEST possible score and then was skipped ahead of a year and a half line on his daddy’s coat-tails
The plane Bush was trained to fly was being phased out anyway. His service would have been over before there was time to train him in a new one.
But at least Bush can fly a fighter jet. That makes him smarter than Obama and Kerry combined.
No … he lied on the specialization forms and listed the F-89 as his plane. He was rated for the F-102 which had a higher chance of being called up. Sooo … you can’t deny the fact that he didn’t acquit himself honorably and therefore fall back on “well, it didn’t matter anyway”
Obama would run like a baby from military service, not something we need now in a president.
Actually, it kind of is. The last thing we need is another president pushing war for his own agenda.
The problem is, if we are attacked again, which is not beyone imagination if a softy like Obama gets in.
The problem is a warmonger pushing us in more places we don’t belong provoking more attacks.
No, the problem is people of a certain ideology that want us dead or under submission. That has not gone away. Fighting to defend ourselves is not what has made them that way either. It’s far deeper than that.
Ema Says:

—————————————————————
Give me a break! Those people who “want us dead or under submission is a small group in scale to the US and the world. Those people have been used as an excuse to invade countries and wage a bloody useless war. Those people now have tools to recruit more people because of the actions of this moron we call president, and his puppet masters.
Those people don’t hate the American people… They hate American Foreign policy and politics. They do not hate you or me.
They hate American decadence and immorality. They don’t want our decadence invading their communities, which I can’t say as I blame them I just don’t like their methods. Maybe you will notice when we are all under sharia law?
So you figure it needs to be either our decadence or our bullets, right?
Have to disagree with Dani. I am doing extensive study on the nature of those you believe are only opposed to our foreign policy. And, you grosely underestimate the power and capabilities of said group. I would suggest any reading you can find (not including wiki) on Sharia law and extreme Muslim fundamentalism. It doesn’t take a large number of people to do extreme damage, and they have all the money they need because they are incredibly smart, and use American spending practises against us (they have their fingers in drugs from Mexico, oil, and even knock-offs). Please, read something scholastic on any of the subjects I’ve mentioned. There really are people other than Americans that hate other people for not being like them.
So very true Free – and being nice to them is not going to help change anything. They consider us weak willed and will take advantage of our attempts to appease, it’s too late to stick your head in the sand.
no…they do not hate us for our “decadence and immorality” they hate us for our globalization and marginalizing them out of the world economy, they hate us in Afghanistan for goading the USSR into invading and after that conflict was over, the US didnt offer an iota of help or aid to rebuild what they helped to destroy. they hate us in Iran for getting rid of a moderate government in a coup d’etat to install the shah who was so brutal to his people and wiped all opposition so in 1979 when the students rioted all there was left was the ayatollah and the clerics that run that country. aaaaanyway…i think the picture is either Pearl Harbor survivors of members of the “Chosin Few” from the Korean War.
Wow! Is Obama paying you by the word count?
It is a fact that Bush served honorably in the military during the Vietnam conflict. Its well known that even years later he has nightmares about being a combat pilot and feels regret from all of those bombs he dropped on those poor innocent Alabama children.
No, he just visits them when they come home in a box. Unlike Bush.
Also, Bush got out of serving, and went AOL. Don’t you read?
However, I do agree that Obama’s one fault is that he never served in the military. As its leader, I think he should have.
Bush went AOL? Did he use one of those billions of free trial CDs?
Never go AOL. It’s a nightmare. An absolute nightmare. I don’t know why Bush would ever want to go AOL.
And to make matter worse, Dan Rather’s will run a story about how he went MOL or worse used Blue Light SPecial logon from K-Mart….
You’re right. It would be better if he ignored them entirely out of respect.
Oh…my….god, that’s too funny!
Isn’t that his daddy’s remaining squad members from World War II?
I tried to come up with something about how those ol’ fellers are teasing Bush about his TANG service and Lemon Puss doesn’t like it.
Hard to fit all of that on a macro, though…….
Jellybeans, although i admire the effort you’ve put in, there is NO point ‘debating’ anything with Evil Pundit. He doesn’t DO facts, and most likely never will.
They still look like they’re ready to kick some ass< eh flingthebull?
LOL – “flingthebull”!
Especially the guy with the eye patch !!
“Are these the only reserves we have left?”
No, shitstain, there’s the one standing in the middle.
“Are these the only reserves we have left?”
No, crapweasel, there’s the one in the middle, too.
So nice, he posted twice!
” ‘fraid so George… one of ‘em converted to Islam too, guess which one. *COUGHpatch* “
Re: the identity of the men in the photo. These men survived the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941. Some of them were featured in a History Channel documentary “Tora, Tora, Tora: The Real Story of Pearl Harbor.” The man on the far left is Enoch E. Vaughn. I’m not sure who the man with the eyepatch is. The man to the right of President Bush is Dr. Rodney West (now deceased), and the man on the far right is Al Bodenlos. I hope that helps, and I hope that we can give these men the recognition they deserve. If nothing else, they need to be identified as Pearl Harbor Survivors.
