If I can put on my economics hat...there, the economy is suffering for a multitude of reasons. Mostly out of fear of the worsening credit, housing, banking, and oil woes. We can all debate who is to blame, but those, and the weak dollar, are the main reasons for the slackening economy. And economies are generally affected in a longer run cycle than would be severely effected by the election. We can look at the stock market for a better idea of any jitters related to the election. When we do that we see that the market has come down mainly due to the pressures listed above. Historically, a bullish market, in years of presidential uncertainty (meaning no one is sure who will win) kind of flattens out until they know who will win. Then the market adjusts and, all else being equal, continues whatever trend it was in before the election.

Honestly, when I have debates with my douchenozzle friends who are political science types as I am, we all agree, in an ivory tower kind of way, that Obama has made many foolish (rookie) errors. How he handled the Rev. Wrong scandle, the Father Wrong scandal, having his kids on TV and then pulling them back, having his wife out front and then complaining because people are criticizing her, making himself look like the leading candidate for presidency of the EU, and others. Not any one of those things would be a reason to not necessarily vote for a person, but it does seems to support the idea that he is foolish. And has anyone else notice that he regrets a lot of things? THere was a stretch there where he seemed to be releasing a daily barrage of his regrets.

Either candidate is a viable option. Unfortunately, most people will have to hold their noses when they vote for either one of them. I just happen to believe that Obama smells worse.

Change for its own sake? No, change because the current administration have screwed things up such a lot. Nobody ever said it was change for it's own sake. That's such a weak argument, just assuming for no reason what our motives and philosopies are, then mocking those presumed ideals. Shows a real lack of thought on behalf of you reactionary Republicans.

I think both candidates are "creepy in a megalomanical way".

Let's face it, we're screwed either way. Both the democratic party and the republican party suck eggs. And most of us, we don't really have a say in who becomes president anyway. I don't know about your state, but my state is going to go republican no matter what I do.

So I'm going to vote liberatarian. Just to make my voice heard, just to say that there is a decent number of people in my state who believe our politicians should keep these principles in mind.

Like the bags of low income votes found in a Florida election official's car that then could not be counted? Like people turning away low income voters in Florida?

Don't start saying these are made up - I lived in Florida at the time and it was all over the news down there. Jeb delivered the state to his brother as promised by whatever means.

If you wish it was over right now, you are not a true fan of politics. This is better than that Super Bowl for me. I love this. I wish we did it every year. I love this free flow of dialogue (most of the time). I wish more people were this into it all of the time instead of just every four years.

I see that even eight years later some people are still sore losers. One more time, the rules have been the rules for a long time. The time to complain about the use of the electoral college was before the contest. Just like a douchenozzle to want to change the rules after the race had already been run.

The jibjab video is funny too, they hit all candidates complete with Obama frolicking in the woods in tight pants flinging flowers and glitter through the air then riding on a unicorn! Sooo funny. They do a job on McCain, Hillary and Bush of course. But at least they are fair, unlike here.

You really are a libtard. It is half of liberal (lib) and half of retard (tard). So, libtard, there you are, an explanation. I must say though, I prefer douchenozzle when referring to my friends across the aisle.

this isn't age related ... you just always jump to that conclusion because you lack originality.
The face he is making could be indigestion. Everyone can eat a bad lunch you know. Young or old; tummy aches know no boundaries.

I really don't get the word "libtard." It's based off of "liberal," correct? But there's no "t" in liberal. However, there *IS* a "t" in conservative. So "conservatard" flows better, doesn't it?

Ah , it's gonna be so fun to read these posts after the elections and see the whining when Obama loses! The press was reporting months ahead that Gore/Kerry had already won and the Republicans shoul not even bother voting!

When did the word 'liberal' become an insult in the US? The word 'liberty' literally means freedom, and you have a pretty famous statue called...err, liberty. The fact that Fox news (there's unbiased media for you) and similar right-wing extremists have branded it as an insult shows just how much those guys have lost their way.

He definitely doesn't seem as serious as the other candidates, the ones we have now or the ones we have had in the past. He's something really new. But that doesn't mean he's "foolish", you're right. He might be just what we need in this country. Isn't that the joke definition of insanity, to do what you've always done and expect something different from what you've been getting? I am not really a fan of either the democratic or the republican party, but if I have to pick between only those two, I say let's try Obama. He can't possibly be any worse than what we've had in the past (not just our current president but many presidents before him, both democrat and republican) and because he is so different, he just might be better.

If I can agree with you for one second (and one second only), I think that main point here is that anyone who gets their news from any single source, or any set of sources that presents only one side, is setting themselves up to be ignorant. As with most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
