If they let these guys have wives our children might be a little safer. Celibacy is unnatural, and from what I’ve read of the Bible, actually contrary to the word of God.
But I am not a Bible scholar, so correct me if I am wrong.
Actually, it’s impossible to be properly devoted to both God and a spouse at the same time. That’s why you can’t go through both matrimony and Holy orders.
So from that *Catholic* interpretation of the Bible, it’s not contrary at all, but i totally see where you’re coming from on this one.

That’s bullshit. Many priests and pastors of other religions manage to devote themselves to God and their spouse without either one suffering. The Catholic Church’s biggest problem is in thinking that they never have to change. I’m not saying that celibacy is to blame for the cases of pedophilia, however the church had an obligation to handle it better than they did.
I wonder at what point they get bored with jerking off, and move on to the choir boys?

I don’t see anything wrong with celibacy. Just another choice one makes, they are fully aware of what they are entering when they join the church. Some people can live without sex, no big deal. The priests who molest children were more than likely pedophiles before they took their vows, you can’t blame the vow of celibacy for that one.
Plus Buddhist monks and nuns are pretty enthusiastic about celibacy ^_^ can’t be all that bad.
I looked it up, 1 Timothy chapter 4; verse 1 to 3. To paraphrase it says that in latter times some will depart from the faith and then lists their sins. One of which is forbidding to marry. So it sounds to me like you are absolutely correct and the Bible is against celibacy. I think your also right about our children being safer if they would get rid of the idea.
