Your point is full of holes.
He never stated what his original faith was, but I’m thinking it was most likely Jehovah’s Witnesses, with a chance of atheist. I don’t think he came from Catholicism.
And perhaps there was need to change, particularly if you disagree with what your religion teaches. And perhaps your religion says that there is one creator, but mine, atheism(OK technically not a religion), says that there is none. And considering the different rules and dogmas of different faiths, it is not unreasonable to say that each believes in a different creator to the next.
And anyone can change their original faith, but only if they really want to. My mother was born Catholic, but died an atheist. My father was once one of the most devout atheists out there but was baptised a Mormon only a few years ago. These are just some of the more extreme (although not uncommon) examples, there are also plenty of people who change church or faith within Christianity.

So all this fighting on here is really interesting but I would like to point out a few things, correct me if I get anything wrong.
Fist bumps- tons of people do it, and they don’t get called terriosits it’s become a ‘cool’ thing now and funny sometimes.
Terrorist?- he is being called a terrorist in this picture because it shows the American flag burning and it also shows the terriorist Sadam Huessain in the painting.
Muslim, he is muslim-What I have learned from the people here is that he went to a muslim elementary school, that doesn’t mean he was muslim or is still a muslim.
Mccain gets more jokes- well making a joke about old people is way diffrent then making a joke about race. Old people do a lot of crazy cooky things and John McCain takes these jokes and laughs. Joking about Obama’s race and religion isn’t so good. One if you joke about one persons race you joke about the whole race in general and thats not good. Two the same thing applies to religion. Three do you see many people making jokes about any race anymore, I don’t think so. Four making jokes like the New York Times did is very offense and even John McCain called it offense, he’s basicly being called a terriorist which people aren’t supposed to joke about. I also bet that if Obama was old that he would get a lot of old jokes too.
Again, I did NOT fact check everything so if you can PROVE me wrong I’ll get your point. (yes I am an Obama shipper )

I go to church and I know what it is about. I go for the instruction and teaching from the pastor, socializing is secondary to me I can get that in other ways. If Obama was going to this church to further his poliltical career he should have given that a second thought in my opinion unless he wasn’t paying attention to the pastors sermons. We have some excellent black pastors that teach at our church, including African pastors from missions we support. None of them say anthing near what Rev. Wright talks about. None of them blame the US for evil in the world or for the work of terrorists.

If you do not have anything original to say, then don’t waste your time by repeating/rewording your previous statements. You could be using that time to listen to Rush Limbaugh, or Billo the clown, or whatever it is you conservatives do when you’re not parroting your party’s standard rhetoric.

The fact is that Obama chose to associate with Bill Ayers, to work with him on the same committee, to accept political donations from him, and tio launch his Senate campaign at Ayers’ house. This is not mere association, it is cooperation and approval, amounting to support of Ayers.

Ayers is a terrorist by his own admission. Ayers has stated that he does not regret being a terrorist, and that he wishes he had committed more terrorist acts than he did. Obama supports Ayers. Therefore, Obama is a terrorist supporter.

I knew this was going back to Rev. Wright… *exasperated sigh*

Actually, I have attended a variety of churches of Christian but non-Catholic denomination because I was allowed to find religion for myself. Christianity seemed to suit me best. I did not agree with the Jehovah’s Witnesses, but I did go there many times when I was younger because it was not a “friend” that was a JW. It was my father. He died three years ago. Thanks for bringing that up.

What a lot of people don’t understand is that the pastor is only a small part of why you go to a certain church. I find that the congregation that attends it is far more appealing. Perhaps Obama didn’t totally agree with his pastor, but instead found a fellowship with the other members of that church. Churchgoing can be a very social thing, especially in less populated areas. Then there’s the possibility that he didn’t change churches for his political career. Wanting to say, yes, I’m firm in my religious beliefs. I’ve been going to this church for 20 years. Or perhaps they have the same religious beliefs but different political views, since church is about religion and not politics. Unfortunately the modern world can’t seem to separate the two.

Yes, I do often overuse italicized letters. But personally, if there were no churches at all, I would still believe in my God, because I found him for myself. Some people rely too heavily on organized religion. Ultimately, it’s you and not your church standing before the gates awaiting judgement.

As far as the Reverend Wright issue goes, I read an interesting article about how his beliefs are actually not that far out there, and stop just short of mainstream. I can’t find it yet, but I am looking. I’ll post it when I find it if this topic doesn’t die…
