Having a boring day and need to spice it up a bit with an e-beating?
WOW! That was the most ignorant thing I’ve ever read. Also, not at all related to the picture or caption. Just completely random racist stupidity. I never realized how far we have yet to go because I am so often surrounded by intelligent people. Thanks for reminding me what I fight for.
Quit it your smugness is showing

Jesus. you people claim to be smart?
um the white house is called that because its PAINTED white, not because only white people should be elected as president. that statement was unnessicary and completely ingorant. what, are you like 12, because thats somthing someone of that age would say. =/
Thanks for clarifying that. What are you, like 10, so judgeMENTAL and having to be right all of the time? NEWSFLASH: It’s called the White House because it’s painted white. “Kaylin, you are a goddam genius. If it wouldn’t be such a waste of an enlisted man, I’d recommend you for OCS!”
Obama is borderline socialist, McCain is democrat light. I’m not impressed with anyone so far.
For those who didn’t know, the democratic party has a disgusting history of racism. Senator Byrd???. Bunch of hypocrites.
Little known fact: MLK jr. was a republican.
I didn’t say anything about political parties here, but if you want I will. I said that Jeff is a horrible racist and if you debate that his comments were not racism, i would ask by what means. And, yes, I realize that both parties have a history of racism, just like the entire country has a history of racism. Both parties have also drastically changed over the time that both Byrd and Thurmond have/had been in the Senate. The only reason that I will concede that the Democratic party is more hypocritical is that they have more drastically moved away from racism in recent years than the Republicans. Strom Thurmond switched to the Republican party because he was disappointed in the democratic party for their anti-segregation views. Thurmond, while never actually recanting his views, actually voted to make Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday a national holiday. McCain, the current Republican candidate, voted against it. So, if you want to talk about current political parties, fine. But, talk about the current parties. If you want to talk about the past, fine, but acknowledge that there is a history of the parties and that the Republican party changed about the time when Strom Thurmond decided that he needed to switch over to maintain segregation laws. As for your last post, I’m sure you’re referring to the GOP ad you saw on TV. Because MLK Jr. was not a Republican. His father was early in life before the party changed it’s message. Martin Luther King Jr was never linked with the Republican party and there is no evidence he ever voted for a Republican. King Sr. pledged to deliver 10,000,000 votes to JFK, so hardly a Republican by the end of his life. Little known because little researched. Watching TV commercials put out by the GOP and later retracted with shame after they were refuted does not count as research.
Obama attended a racist church for 20 years. He only ‘resigned’ from it after the public started to find out what was being preached by the pastors there, but he never denounced it.
That’s racism, in the Democratic Party, right now.
Yep… watch one video (two if you count the one that was at the NAACP, not the church) over a 20 year span and condemn anyone who ever went to that church. then completely ignore McCain’s pastors who said that who say the Jews deserve the Holocaust and Katrina happened because of the gays and the blacks, publicly and repeatedly. Also, watch the Reverend Wright video unedited and without reference to how it’s been cast by others before you even get so outraged by what he said. Also, see if Obama’s church has ever said it wants to to deny anyone basic human rights. Yep, this makes Obama a superduper racist and excuses all comments saying he should be killed and that a black man should nevr be president… You’re totally right.
Denial, it ain’t just a river in Egypt.
It’s not just one speech by Wright, it’s the other pastors like Moss and Pfleger. It’s Louis Farrakhan holding meetings at the church and featured in its newsletter. It’s a consistent pattern of race-baiting over 20 years that is simply impossible for anyone present to have missed.
Sure, McCain has been endorsed by a couple of freaky pastors. But he wasn’t a member of their church, didn’t attend for 20 years, didn’t donate $22,000. The two are not comparable.
You’re right, er. … WRIGHT? Hard to tell, since you’ve tied yourself into such knots to make sure Obama is smeared.
But what about Keating? What about a cheated on first wife? What about permanent bases in Iraq? What about jonesing to bomb Iran? What about sucking up to Bush? What about allowing his family to be smeared by Rove in the 2000 South Carolina primaries? What about a nasty temper and an acknowledged weakness on economics? What about sharing a slice of cake with Bush while New Orleans drowned? What DID he do in captivity in Vietnam and why does his second wife’s family have business ties with the people who held him captive? Why not talk about something that IS ON THE RECORD rather than simply jump to conclusions?
Right?
You apparently know that river well.
To Evil not Lowly of course
I don’t at all see it as “race-baiting” as you and Fox news like to use. There is some justified upset in the black community and sometimes people are overly passionate. However, the comments made never attempt to suggest that other races should have rights taken away or that they deserve death or torture. As for the comparability of Obama and McCain, lets talk about what they did not their pastors. Obama has made his views on race clear in what many consider to be the best speech on race today. If you think Obama is racist because he went to a church that had some impassioned and sometimes over-zealous speakers I’m pretty sure that I can’t convince you otherwise. I also don’t think McCain believes what his preachers preached. He did change many of his political stances in order to gain support of these preachers and deliver the fundamentalists to the Republicans. So, he did in some ways tacitly agree with statements that he probably didn’t in his heart. And, how did he respond to comments like “‘And they the hunters should hunt them,’ that will be the Jews,” Hagee said. “‘From every mountain and from every hill and from out of the holes of the rocks.’ If that doesn’t describe what Hitler did in the holocaust, you can’t see that.” Did he attempt to clarify his own views and explicitly state that he did not believe the Holocaust was justified? No. He just held on to the Fundamentalist vote as long as he could by standing next to Lieberman, then eventually made a blanket statement which said that he no longer wished to have his support. I myself go with candidates words and actions to determine their viewpoints. If you do this: Both do not seem to believe the controversial; views espoused by their pastors. Or you can go with the pastors themselves if you wish: Obama’s pastors have been overzealous in their descriptions of the negative race relations in the US on some occasions, McCain’s have said that the Bible condoned the Holocaust and that Katrina was an act of God to rid New Orleans of homosexual depravity. Which do you really think is worse? If you think Obama’s pastors then your standard is volume rather than hatred and condoning the death of groups you dislike. If you go with association between the two: Obama was associated with the Church for a long time. I’ll give you that. However, it was made blatantly obvious that his opinions on race were not guided by his Church’s stronger statements. McCain specifically chnaged his viewpoints in order to gain favor from people who pronounced that the Holocaust was justified and that God believes that gays deserve to die. You want to talk about comparability, here you go. Which of these things makes Obama a racist, but makes McCain a straight-shooting maverick?
And yes, it is true that denial is not just a river in Egypt, but rather:
“Denial of fact: This form of denial is where someone avoids a fact by lying. This lying can take the form of an outright falsehood (commission), leaving out certain details in order to tailor a story (omission), or by falsely agreeing to something (assent, also referred to as “yesing” behavior). Someone who is in denial of fact is typically using lies in order to avoid facts that they think may be potentially painful to themselves or others.”
Im a McCain supporter, but both candidates have less than perfect pastors. But association with a person doesn’t automatically make someone the same. My grandparents are homophobes, but as can be evidenced in my own sexuality, Im not.
Ohh how wonderful it would be if we didn’t fight elections on trivial things such as what churches people go too.
“Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy,” Obama said. “I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it’s on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. ”
Buh… but.. what about reject? Does he denounce AND reject?
In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.
DAMN!

Ok, my bad. It was MLK sr. I typed it wrong, so get your panties out of a wad.
BTW, I didn’t see and damn commercial anyway.
Big difference and condescending tone makes it reasonable for me to get somewhat annoyed that you pretend to know more than others. Especially considering this point was a major campaign of information for the GOP which was widely regarded as a campaign of misinformation.
I also think it’s hilarious that you posted a site that IS claiming MLK Jr. as a Republican. Way to spread more misinformation and ignorance (yet again). I’m glad you came up with falsehoods without watching TV. Now try reading, either the site you posted or this one explaining the deliberate misinformational commercials by the GOP and the negative response from even black republicans. Reading: good. Making stuff up to try to win an argument: bad.

Uh, guys…..it’s just a picture of a man and a kid riding the bumper cars with some silly words printed on it…
And is the fact that all politicians, regardless of party, are screwed up / corrupted in one way or another really RECENT news???
*suggests you all go to icanhascheezburger.com and cool off a bit*

Tacitly agreeing is the same as accepting. Lies become truths if no one ever exposes them. Although I know that I will not convince these three, I’ve been refusing to let their unsupported opinions to go unchallenged and chance someone naively believing them or worse. But, you’re right, I need to stop trying to encourage others to read broadly and check their sources. The level of ignorance is too high for me to make a dent in it. Especially when retorts are even worse than the original comments. I am not doing any good, I’m just feeding the trolls who don’t need to be consistent or cite any sources but can make any attack. Being bounded by reason is quite a handicap. In the interest of my own mental well-being I will only have debates with people who cite sources and have reasonable arguments bounded in truth and not colored by hatred (disguised as exposing hidden racism). If you can stand it, read other posts by Evil, Jamie, and Jeff to see what I mean. I will not be reading or responding anymore. But, hopefully people will realize that pretty much everything Evil, Jamie or Jeff (and others, Matchew for one) is not supported by fact and will check for yourself anytime you feel the urge to agree with them. Sometimes they can sound quite convincing until you try to find sources that agree. Peace
Both Mccain and Obama sucks. Ron Paul was the only person running that I liked.
America can only have two choices though, it’s been decided.
That way the secret coin toss makes sense.
McCain: “Obama, let me see that quarter!”
Obama: “Don’t be a sore loser you know how politics works”
eat be and die. kthxbi. Go eat tofu or something
Guess I’m racist cuz I think obama is a socialist???? Don’t get that, but ok.
Oh, If only that were true….Obama wants to spend more money-as well as McCain. It’s not like we owe any communist nations trillions of dollars or anything.
Obama knows what it’s like to be called a Sparkling Wiggle
