Great…
I believe the one talking is Rob Riggle (Daily Show), because he looks like him, he went to the middle east for the Daily Show and he would TOTALLY say that.
The one in camo is a British serviceman, and the other is an American wearing Iraqi wings.
oh god thats gonna be makin me snicker stupidly all day
Show of hands – who actually heard what McCain said?
Thought not.
Just don’t get upset when people quote The OMessiah out of context.
Honestly, you couldn’t be more wrong. Taking things out of context is wrong period. This “they did it to us, we’ll do it to them”-thing is just childish.
I’m sure I could be more wrong.
I’m not shooting at anyone, just trying to correct an oft-repeated misstatement of what McCain said.
Okay, maybe the “OMessiah” thing is a little sniping. But it is at the faithful followers, not the guy himself.
Permanent base in Iraq…hmm…heard of Project for a New American Century, Matt?
So, “in context”, the 100 years (which he’s also stated on the record as 1,000 or 10,000 years, BTW) *begins*, according to McCain, when there are “no” US casualties.
And when might that be?
Who knows?
‘k, so how does misquoting him over and over as saying that we should have a hundred years of war fit?
oooo, ooo!!!! I did. And yeah, likening the occupation in Iraq to our presence in Japan/Germany post WWII? Remind me who’s out of touch with reality?
All he’s saying is that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to station a few thousand troops in Iraq after things have quieted down like how there are American soldiers stationed in practically every Allied country.
That’s all. Nothing much more to take out of this, or to assume he means having something like 100,000 or 200,000 stationed there for 100 years.
He didn’t say that the war should last another hundred years. He said that we should have troops stationed there to maintain order.
