Have fun proving your an American citizen while being detained with no rights whatsoever.

There’s a reason that, until the Bush administration, habeas corpus used to applied to both U.S. citizens and everyone in the United States. To not grant habeas corpus to someone currently in the U.S. makes it pretty much useless.

Three years ago, the Smithsonian had a special exhibition (which I think is pictured above) of the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution at the national archives. We were futzing around on the Mall that day and saw the banner.

My Republican husband said, “Let’s go see that before this administration makes them irrelevant.”

Who said anything about foreign citizens?
Amendments 4-6 have been significantly weakened by things like the Patriot Act, wiretapping, unlawful “detentions” aka kidnappings of war protesters, etc.
Try Googling “Brandon Mayfield” and then come back and tell me that this caption isn’t completely true.
