Which is worse – too many, or none at all?
not that i would want it taken down or anything, but i do think it’s offensive (and more than a bit sad) that the fact that Senator Clinton’s looks are what everyone wants to talk about. This is “funny” because she is a woman and sexism is still pervasive in this country/culture. Would the same caption be “funny” on a picture of President Bush, or Senator McCain or any other male politician? Somehow I think not.
Two thumbs up on your comment, minerva. Men have ‘character lines,’ while women have ‘wrinkles.’ ‘Taint right.
If they’d done the “3 AM” ad, I think so. People make fun of the way politicians look – what do you think this site is all about?
I’m not exactly a big fan of Hillary, but the way that gender hierarchies are being reinforced through appearance, here and elsewhere, is some bullshit. Men are seen as gaining worth through age (to a certain point, McCain may be shrinking) while women are seen as losing it. I mean if we were going on pretty, Anderson Cooper and Dana Perino would be the candidates. Cause you know, it’d still be pretty for DC, not actual pretty.
I’m not a Hillary fan, but I was also offended by the caption like others who have commented here. Boo!
is that the book that Miss South Carolina wrote…. such as…
I was the creator of this caption….and I am a woman. This was more of a jab at her stupid campaign strategy of the “3am” calls. If Obama had done the same thing, and appeared in this picture looking like they have not slept in 4 days, then yes, I would have written the same caption.
Lol, if looks didn’t matter, she shouldn’t have gotten the botox.
LOL
Also, Charlajw, thank you for that comment.
People talking about Hillary Clinton in this context are entirely justified. Nobody attacks people making fun of Obama and Bush’s looks, but of course recognizing that the ‘3am phone call’ candidate looks like she hadn’t slept is apparently sexist.
You people are utterly ridiculous for coming on a humor site (and specifically one that derives its humor FROM PICTURES) and then complaining the fact that a woman is the target of one such picture.
I mean, what the hell. >:(
I agree, you people are getting bent about a “picture”..and a funny caption..a partisan response maybe?..
I have not heard many of the “objective, liberal, open minded, fair and tolerable” crowd get bent out of shape when the media and libs attack a womans daughter and her being pregnant..they may secretly offer that girl an abortion without her parents knowing and the possible medical and emotional complications be damned..but let her be a daughter of a conservative nominee and all bets are off..attack her, the mother and family’s morals, start rumors that the downs syndrome child is really the daughter’s, and then wonder if the nominee can “handle” the responsibilities of raising a special needs child..when many of those wondering would just as soon have aborted the child
I am not saying that any of you specifically would be a part of such hypocrisy but dang, there are quite a few out there taking part..
“feminism” in america is to protect liberal woman, conseravtive small town women need not apply..they are the enemy..
No, you just an oldbitch
too many times bill cheating on her…
