What is a dazzling urbanite like you doing in a place like this?
Awesome! The Obama campaign should totally adopt this as a poster, maybe with the slogan “There’s A New Sheriff In Town.”
Great. A sheriff who won’t tote a gun. Great place to visit, if you’re an outlaw.
It seemed to work in Mayberry.
Dude, he’s a black guy running for President, campaigning in the South. There’s more Secret Service guys armed to the teeth at that rally then there’d be if McCain and Clinton held a joint press conference in friggin Basra. He doesn’t have a gun, he has guns. He just isn’t trying to shoot them for the press in order to pretend he’s an NRA lifetime member.
I guess I’m being too obscure. I’m referring to his lack of a comprehensive concept of national security, and the short-sighted nature of his primary goals regarding national defense.
At least he knows the difference between Sunnis and Shiites. Also, obscure and obtuse mean different things. By you above statements, I believe you mean the later. Please, read and provide proof for your comments. you are making the world less intelligent by your presence.
And I believe *you* mean “latter”
No you weren’t being too obscure, I was making joke.
Ohhh, and also compared to “100 years” and “Bomb Iran” he does seem at least a few steps ahead of the other Yahoos.
The “Bomb Iran” thing was a moment of stupidity. Every candidate has them. On the other hand, he hasn’t been specifically threatening the existence of Iran and promising to bust up OPEC – so he has that going for him (unlike the other Yahoo).
As for the “100 years” thing – it has been blown completely out of proportion, and if you are still referring to it I wonder how much you look at transcripts vs. just repeating talking points someone else has written.
The quote was that he didn’t see a problem with us staying there for the long term as we have in Japan, Korea, and Germany. The irony was that Obama made the reference the same day that he was chiding his competitors for quoting him out of context. It makes me to laugh. Funny man, funny man.
Everybody quotes out of context, and everybody looks stupid doing it. Can we get beyond that and talk about real issues?
Yes, because apparently to people making a joke in passing is paramount to the desire to invade another Middle Eastern country.
If there’s one thing politicians should learn about the way the media is today, it’s that they should never make any comment in passing, otherwise others will use it against you.
Further, politicians should NEVER make a joke about anything, ever. John Kerry sure showed everyone that!
Also, reguarding the photo, all I can say is “‘Scuse me while I whip this out!”
“Moments” of stupidity are how we got into Iraq in the first place.
Several moments of repeated stupidity that he doesn’t correct. Like his economic policies which he refuses to specify and calls a work in progress, inability to differentiate between Sunni and Shiite groups, and continuing to back the policies of and raise money through Bush while otherwise trying to distance himself.
You want to talk about real issues yet you have yet to do so in any of your posts. What you have done is maintained (Beautifully, I might add) the standard CLinton narratives of Hill’s electability, Obama’s supposed lack of substance. Can you honestly describe Clinton’s comprehensive foreign policy plan without going to her website and trying to find it? Can you describe her plans to deal with the recession and high gas prices beyond the “Tax holiday” that the gas companies are creaming in their pants to get? Can you tell us what Hillary’s going to do about massive manufacturing unemployment?
Or would you rather talk about “real issues” like Wright? Maybe Obama’s “Madras” preschool?
As for moments of stupidity, she seems to have those over and over again. Like when she “slipped once” and claimed to be running from the snipers. At four different events.
Also, I love how Clinton campaigners fall all over themselves to excuse McCain’s “Mistakes.” It’s almost like she knows she’ll lose and is setting herself to run against McCain in 2012 once she’s torpedoed Obama and McCain runs us into even more foreign policy disasters. And if McCain can’t see how maintaining bases in the Middle East helped get us in this mess, then that’s a bigger problem then his continued inability to distinguish Shiite from Sunni. You wanna know why America’s spent the last 100 years fighting Imperial wars? Cause we’ve been acting like an Empire and leaving bases everywhere we go. The 100 years thing, it’s not the misinterpretation of McCain’s words that’s the problem, it’s what he actually meant. Having been tortured for years in an imperial war, you’d think he’d be a bit more savvy about these things.
I imagine a few folks are probably starting to think “this used to be fun.” So I’ll try bullet points.
- I usually pull for the underdog, whether I like them or not. I don’t particularly like Hill, and I think she would be a disaster for the U.S. I’m not in love with any of the three, really. I just don’t get the fanaticism for Obama.
-The Gas Tax Holiday. Several states have tax holidays for school supplies and the like, and I have yet to hear of anyone raising prices to match the temporary reduction. As a father trying to pay for two young’ns, I appreciate every penny someone cuts off of the price of stuff I have to buy.
- The oil companies make 8% off of every gallon sold. That is a lower margin than most retailers. I don’t hear a lot of howling about the big bad clothing manufacturers.
- Is Wright an issue? I don’t have a lot to go on in terms of understanding where Barack is coming from (not a whole lot of legislative leadership, and I really have tried to find out what he’s done of note). He speaks well, and that’s a good thing. But we should all be concerned about issues of judgment and character. Is it not the character (or lack thereof) in Dick Cheney that makes him objectionable? Is that not truly the issue with Bill Clinton (and I’m not talking about the blue dress; I’m talking about what an incredible narcisist he is). I’ve changed churches, multiple times, when I heard hate from the pulpit. I wouldn’t be chummy with anyone who speaks in favor of division rather than healing. God isn’t black, white, or purple, I don’t think. To stay in that church over 20 years tells me that either Obama was not there much – and was using that church’s connections for influence (seen plenty of that in both major parties) – or he wasn’t paying much attention to what he was hearing (which doesn’t speak well for his attention to detail). Those are issues for me. They aren’t for you? Okay. I don’t think less of you if other things concern you more.
- Hillary is an imaginative liar. No argument there.
- There is a great deal of danger in interpreting others’ meanings, especially if you already see them in a negative light. Suddenly ‘have a nice day’ becomes a racist/sexist/classist remark. And I think we can generally get the real meaning of a phrase if we hear it in the greater context of the words that surrounded it when it was spoken, rather than take that key phrase and assign it meaning based on our own beliefs about the speaker. But that’s just me.
So in other words,
-You’re not supporting Hilary, you’re against Obama. Cause people like him and that scares you.
-The school supply business and the oil industry are a bit different. and despite “only” making 8% PROFIT, at least one gas company managed to make 10 billion in profit last year. So really, who’s gonna cry over that?
-Lol. Oh, he speaks so well. Lol. Also, looks like Wright is what you wanted to talk about. I’m starting to get a better understanding of what you’re afraid of now.
-Oh no, the PC brigades are gonna make us stop using words and just say Quack for everything. (1984 reference, you seem like you’d understand that one.)
It’s nice to see those true colors start flying.
Guys, it’s just a photograph of Obama wearing a hat.
Aren’t there forums for this sort of discussion? Isn’t this just supposed to be about the picture?
Actually, for that matter, what genius decided to add a “Comment” section to a political humor website which has something to offend everyone? (it’s kind of like “Meet the Feebles” in that way)
For serious…laugh at the funnies and go on about your business (arguing somewhere else).
*insert that saying comparing arguing on the Internet to the Special Olympics here*
I laughed my head off. Seriously. Politics aside, this was just absolutely freaking hilarious. CBus, whoever you are, I’m voting for YOU in November.
Absolutely amazing! Best one I have seen yet, very funny. Even my absolutely wears political sings taped to his shirt to school Obama supporting brother laughed sooooo hard when he saw this. Simple genius!

Well, the Gov in Blazing Saddles always reminded me of Bill.

Candygram for Georgie! Candygram for Georgie!
I’m a 150% Obama supporter, but I still picture him driving into Washington and a guy’s standing on top of the Capitol building yelling “THE PRESIDENT IS A NI–*BONGGG* “What’d he say?” “He said the President is near!” “NO, DAGBLAMMIT! THE PRESIDENT IS A NI–*BONGGG*
I guess I’m going to hell.
I campaigned/voted for Obama and I still think that. Which is why this is my absolute favorite LOL of him. Now we just need to find a giant bell…
All political opinions aside….
Great caption. xD

If you watch the special features of Blazing Saddles, Mel will explain the whole racial thing, and how it was acceptable in the context it was written in.
Best. Caption. Ever.
